This software was available as a giveaway on February 20, 2010, this giveaway is not available any more. You can download the trial version of this software at http://game.giveawayoftheday.c....
Installation:
Star Prince installs to the games folder of your root directory; however, if you haven’t cleared out your cache or cleaned your registry of orphan keys you may find the game tries to install to a previous giveaway. For me it tried to install to Race of the Lost roads. You can change the installation path if you wish. There is no shortcut installed so do make a note of where you installed the game so that you can create shortcuts. If you want to create a Start menu programs shortcut there’s a short tutorial in the stickies section of the Games discussion forums.
The downloaded zip file is 24.7Mb in size and installs to 210Mb once unpacked.
The game was previously given away under the title of space Prince. I didn’t post a review for some reason (must have been ill). You can read what others have said about the game by following the link below:

The author has made some improvements to the game since it was last given away. I’ve taken about 20 screenshots showing in game screen hints etc. This is a basic side scrolling space shooter with okay graphics and the usual elements of upgraes by picking up bonuses left by destroyed enemies and collecting coins which can be used to buy upgrades at the end of a level. From the information given there only seems to be a small number of levels, but this could be the first stage. I really don’t have the time to play through to the end to find out, so hopefully those of you who do play the game for an hour or so (if it gives you any more play time) can fill the community in on the number of levels.
I think the images I’ve uploaded to my photobucket account tell enough of a story so I’m not going to write a full review today.
You can check out the images by following the link below:

You can view all of the images on one page by clicking on the grid button to the bottom right of the screen above the thumbnail images.
Music:
If you don’t like the in game music you can change it by replacing the files directly (they are MP3 files):

Conclusion
If you like R-Type space shooters you’ll love this side scrolling retro space shooter. I’ll certainly be keeping it to add to my overly large collection of space orientated games. I’m sure I missed this when it was given away as Space Prince last year, so can’t comment on the improvements, but I think its worth a good 6.5 out of 10. I’d have given it more, but the number of levels doesn’t give this game much replayability.
You can find lots of these games by searching through the games discussion forums. In particular the Shmup’s thread which can be found as a stickie in the game discussion forums. You’ll also find lots via G@rgoyles free games synopsis and also 17 pages of them (each page contains 15 games) over at Caimans games:

Hopefully the game giveaway team will have managed to secure more games next week; but, if they don’t I will be posting more games over in the Games discussion forums.
Have a great week folks. :lol;
——————————————————————————————————————————————–
There will be no game tomorrow so I’ve posted several free strategy games over in the games discussion forums, including Ceasar II, Hannibal, Imperialism, Heimdall II, Pacific General, Panzer General, Netstorm, Battle Island 2 and 3, War Diary, 7th Legion and Romance of the Three Kingdoms III.
I also posted posted some great games such as Pandora’s Gearbox, Worminator 3, Paper Zombies, Swarm, Circuit Breaker and the latest Command & Conquer to be released to the freeware community by EA Games called Command & Conquor: Tiberium Sun over the last few days. You can find details of all of these over in the forums via the link below. Check out Week 74 for the C&C title, week 75 for the games I posted this week and week 76 for the strategy games I’ve posted to replace Sundays Game giveaway (well it’s not actually replacing, just filling in).

Also don’t forget that Sandlot games now give a full version game with no restrictions and more importanty, no adverts away every week. This weeks game is called Boonka, a Tetris clone (and not tht disimilar to one of last weeks game giveaways). A new game will be available on Monday.
