Game play error - Both 'Ancient Rome' and 'Ancient Greece' have a bust for 'Julius Caesar' in the objects for purchase. I believe he should only be in 'Ancient Rome'. Currently, the bearded 'Julius Caesar' bust in 'Ancient Rome' looks like someone else not Caesar.

Very nice game!! Thank you for this giveaway!

does not play nice with a1ctl downscaling! i played through the japan level with downscaling to fit the game on my 1024x600 display. the combination makes the game almost unplayable (i'm stubborn, so i played anyway). there's a double cursor -- both the system and game cursors -- coupled with an inertia type of delayed motion that makes it hard to click on the correct square. if i turn off downscaling, so the display scrolls, game play is very responsive and there's only one cursor. but then it's too hard to do the puzzles. :-/ the game is addictive, so i'll just deal with it, but i would *so much* appreciate it if developers would make their games work on 1024x600 netbook displays. thanks for offering this!

(system info: winxp sp3 on an acer d250, 2gb ram, 1.6ghz, 1024x600 resolution)

Unfortunately yesterday's World Riddles could not be activated. Can anybody post the key again, please? Thank you! some of the developers who used to contribute do their own giveaways now (for example Realore Games)

Hi Laptop57, although the project is called Game giveawayoftheday, it's only been operatig on a weekend only basis since 2008 due to the economic climate. We used to get games every day until April 2008 when it went to weekends only.

This game was given away last weekend. you have to download and Install on the day of the giveaway otherwise you wont get a registered game. You can't just download it then save it for a rainy day, it must be activated on the day otherwise its useless.

Sorry you missed last weeks offering, it was a decent game, well worth adding to any gamers library, especially if you like Picrosss like games .

COLORS SHOULD BE CHOSEN BY USER

The default colors made it too hard for me to play it. I thought if I could change them or if they had been more different, as in starting all dark blue when blank or bright pink, I could have played it.

All the light brown and grays make it too much of a strain on my eyes and probably many others, plus not knowing which is done and which hasn't been done yet. I have perfect vision and no color blindness, so others must feel the same.

Great game it itself, but so similar to the earlier one (7 wonders is the one I've played before) that I could just re-play the earlier one. The actual play of the main game is identical.

FYI. I played this on my tablet/netbook, and it runs as well as on my desktop with a 20-inch monitor. Some games don't do as well on the tablet as this one does. Yay!

Will play on hardware a lot less powerful than 1G CPU. Most sophisticated of the 3 games in the series. Most adult, but still appropriate for kids. Coloring the patterns seems to me to make it slightly more difficult. At least you take more risks if you try to augment your math detective skills by also turning/breaking blocks in a symmetrical pattern, which you can do on all 3 games, but seems easier if blocks are all same color. But that's good. Increased difficulty. Animals seemed like the starter for kids, with 7 Wonders in between. Don't know the game industry, but this one seems a bargain at 9.95. Probably also true of 7 Wonders. Civilization points - i.e. purchasing - seems nice addition. Adds a little interesting information to each puzzle, not just occasionally as in the other 2.

Replayability increased in all 3 by the desire to finish as many puzzles as you can both below the required time AND without making an error. Which earns you more points, of course. Takes time to get used to the pointer/hammer, but once you get it, errors go way down. I recommend using the "right key as hammer" option so you don't have to switch. Takes some getting used to, but saves time.

Bottom line: these Funny Bear games just keep getting better and better.

Thanks, GAOTD & Funny Bear Studio. This is one of my favorite game types. I have purchased all 4 of a similar game, World Mosaics. But this one also has puzzles and beautiful graphics. I don't like Sudoku but I like this genre. I'll probably purchase the other World Riddles games that were given away here previously, since I missed them.

White Wabbit, thanks for calling my attention to this game. When I read your review, it was obvious this was my kind of game. To think that I almost passed it up!

Has anyone figured out where this games and the similar, 7 Wonders, stores the player game completion data? I tried to move the 7 Wonders games that look very similar to this one after installing a new OS (Win 7 64) but I couldn't figure out were the data was stored.

I also couldn't get figure out how to move the Funny Creatures registration info. It was one of my favorite giveaways but I can't play any longer because although I was able to move my player level completion, it now won't let me continue because I exceeded the non registered level limit.

I have Seven Wonders, but missed the animal one. Both work fine on Vista 64bit. Thank you for the "highlight" on rows/columns. It makes working in the lower/right quadrant much easier. I have made mistakes due to color/contrast problems as mentioned above by many. I think a pattern or texture would help, if used consistently. Some of the background photos can be distracting when they bleed through into the playing area. The factoids are interesting. "Buying" trinkets is unnecessary. I haven't needed too many hints, but I haven't gotten past Rome. I hope the hints increase as the game gets more difficult. Actually, I'd prefer unlimited hints, with a scoring penalty for using them (or buying them instead of the trinkets). I haven't hit any mini-games, other than the initial puzzle pieces. More mini-games would be nice. Overall, very enjoyable. I like a good "brain teaser" more than "shoot 'em ups" and don't bother trying the ones that are controlled by the arrow keys. Thank you Funny Bear, White Rabbit and GGOTD.

I LOVE these number/tile games and have searched for them everywhere. This one is another good one. One thing I especially like in this one is that you can turn on the autocomplete so once you find all the number tiles you don't have to click the "blanks". I also like that you can turn on the option to use right click to use the hammer. One thing I don't like is in a few of the 1st puzzles (I've only gone to #7 so far) the number tiles were gray and hard to distinguish from the blank tiles which were also gray. Thanks GGOTD and Funny Bear for a great game! Note: The only reason I would hesitate buying these games is that I worry about how long they are. I hate buying a game and having it turn out to be so short that I complete it in a few hours.

Sorry, I don't have time to really play this game. I played a few levels but my brain is fried..been working on a slideshow for my church. I was doing awful and usually I am good with these types of games. But any way, I love the game..I loved the other ones..keep making them. Brain games are good..for the young and old.

Thanks GGOTD and Funny Bear studio for the game. Keep up the good work.

Wabbit, thanks for the review..even though I haven't read it. I will..probably tomorrow.

How are there 200 games? There are 7 areas and 20 for each area (140 levels). Then there is the switch puzzle at the start of each area - 147. Where are the other 53 games? Is that the bonus games? There are 7 sets of bonus games -- one for each set and 53 is not divisible by 7!

So how are there 200 games?

I really enjoy the game, but there are a couple of issues. One, is that anytime anything else happens on my system, like something updating in the backgroudnd or a message reminder pops up, the game shuts down and I have to start it up again. The last time, it took me way back to the beginning of the game. Hugely irritating.

As I said, the game itself is great. Too bad it's giving me grief.

Finished Japan, all gold. It helped that I played through much of the first two games. Play is identical to them, even the option to choose right-click hammer. I was disappointed to find though that while there was color in this game, the puzzles are not in fact color nonograms. Also, as one said already, the color can get in the way sometimes making me look twice at a tile to see if it had been touched already. It did seem to get more tricky earlier than the first two games (though as per those games it isn't a clean curve, rather some easier boards are mixed in with the trickier ones). A couple times I had to assume symmetry rather than make a logical deduction or just make a guess based on what seemed more likely to be part of the picture.

Definitely the best World Riddles so far and happy to get a new one. Play is similar but the graphics are way better than the first two. I agree about the contrast thing. I have a fairly large screen but I keep it a bit on the dim side to save my eyes. I would have trouble seeing this on a smaller monitor.Gray on gray is not a good combo, but otherwise I like the game. Thanks!

Excellent game. I loved the previous ones and was delighted to see that the suggestion to highlight the rows and columns being moused over has been implemented. See, it DOES help to make suggestions!! Like others I did find the colors rather distracting but other than that this is the best one of the series so far. Thanks to the developer for this game, and for listening and to GGOTD & WR for all their hard work.

The program extracted 6 files including TimeTravel. When I click on TimeTravel it shows up as a process in the Task Manager but it doesn't show up as a running application.

I did try the suggested Game Booster but the program still shows up in the same place in the Task Manager.

I have a problem with this game, unfortunately.

It downloaded correctly but refuses to install. A window with an error message pops up, saying:

"Giveaway period for this software is over, please check our website for a new giveaway."

First time this happens to me, and this must be wrong. At the top of this website it says 11 hours to go to download and install..

Help please! :-)

Try deleting the cookies installed to your internet Cache. Sometimes they become corrupted and can cause such problems. Failing that try rebooting your modem and/or router. If neither of those work read the section near the end of my review @ comment #1. There are loads of fixes, one of which may work.

Please let me know if any work or not. i'll check back later to see if you've replied and will offer more help if possible.

"There is a downside to all of the visual interest, however. With the tiles appearing in color against the more colorful backgrounds it can occasionally be difficult to distinguish between an empty space, a space that hasn’t been clicked, and a filled-in space in some of the puzzles. This can cause problems not only to those who have colorblindness but also to those whose eyesight is a little blurry, making a few of the puzzles more difficult than they need to be."

I couldn't have put it better myself. More contrast and/or pattern difference is needed to distinguish between the three types of tile.

Otherwise a very good game.

Technically, the game could be installed and run without any problems on my Windows 7 64-Bit system. The concept itself is fine because of nonogram usage, but I personally find expert times a little high. I have seen some puzzles where I could solve the puzzle in 37 seconds and 2:30 was given as expert time.

You may need to play the game in a different resolution. Once you get it to work you could change the game to start in windowed mode which should then enable you to change your resolutio back to nornal. Other things you may need to do are disable visual themes via the compatibility tab ( right click on the game executable and select Properties). I really like this game. It's relatively simple(I'm only at level 10, Japan) and a lot of fun. It was very easy to download and install. Plays perfectly on my Windows 7 64 bit OS. The graphics are beautiful with the occasional animation which brings the pictures to life. The background music is OK, but certainly not annoying. As mentioned several times above though, the coloring of the tiles is very distracting. So many of the lighter colors nearly blend into the background, that I find myself squinting in order to choose the correct tile to destroy with the hammer or not. But even with this tile coloring problem, I still want to play this wonderful game. So thanks GOTD and Funny Bear Studio.

Not to be redundant. Both XP and win 7 On three different LCD monitors 1680*1050 - The little empty black squares vs the "brushed metal active squares" ought to be more different color contrast wise they look too similar, and can make a group swipe with the finger be off by one and count as a miss.

Somewhere in the back of my mind I can visualize a network battleship version of this game.

Pleasant music and sounds.

Nice subliminal frowny face for a moment there, when you get the "KonK sound"

I'll throw this as more of a question, It might be helpful to have an extra light level for all those numbers for the rows and columns at the edge of each board.
So, instead of clearing the Row or Column, it goes black with no hint numbers, it goes to Grey-ed out numbers somehow indicating row complete. Might make it a selection in options, it might help in pattern matching? Maybe Red, Green, Grey signals? I dunno. Just an idea, I can also see how it might Junk it up as well if not done properly.

Though I'm pressed for time and haven't spent much time playing this particular one, I really enjoy the World Riddle series and am sure this will be no different. I'm not one for Shooters, enjoy HOGs and Puzzles. These WRs are difficult to describe. I find them much more interesting than a typical Match3 game. They are a very unique type of game, completely engrossing and fun.

No problem with installation on a Win7x64.

Ok Win 7 x64 Full screen mode fine on 24" LCD. Usual options. Colors seem good on first level anyway. Could be a little confusion later the way it chooses to color column w/ a filled brick sometimes. Easy to think that wasn't an already completed brick being a dif color!? Made me forget where the end point had been like in prior versions where always remained same silver color when filled.
Sweet variations to old school fave. Having to pick the various items w/ winning civil points is nice touch along with the old standby mosaic panels. This one will be fun. Used autofill but be careful at first since that extra can make one get too speedy. And thought does count if want the points. Be playing this one for awhile as a break from starting taxes. 8.5 or 9.5/10 for big fans. Thanks gang.

I got the other two games of the series on MyPlayCity some time ago and enjoyed them so much when I saw this one, I just snapped it up!

It plays about the same with 7 sections and minigames mixed in. The idea of "purchasing" renovations is new, though. So far, I've just started it. I wanted to make sure it would play. The color is also different. If they wanted to add a level of complexity, they could include the colors in the clues, too as is done with Kaser Software's "Descartes Rainbow". His "Descartes Enigma" is just black/white.

Not being a true install was a little surprising but not a serious issue. I didn't read WR's full install instructions. I was looking more at his description and images of the game itself.

It's a definite Thumbs up!

I love these games, but the biggest problem that I found is sometimes pressing the wrong mouse button and then the game thinks that I made a mistake. There should be a better way to control the markings, and the size is really too big for my taste. Isn't there some way to make it a smaller size program?

Thanks to the developers and GOTD!

.......................Moderator comment.....................

When you say the size is too big, are you referring to the size of the actual game installation? If you think that's big you should check out my Battlefield 2 folder. It's well over 50GB and thats with only a small proportion of the mods and maps I have for the game. Some games lke Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Empire: Total War and Total War:Shogun 2, they are around 14GB, 16GB and 29GB respectively, and that's with no mods included.

If you are limited with HDD resources you could try reducing the resolution of images found within many of your games folder, though todays offering has all of the images coded into the executable, so it's not possible unless you use a suitable hex editor. Do not change the actual dimensions of the images as this may casue the programs/games not to work. I'd also initially make backups of any images you do change just in case things get messed up. This would be a rather tedious job though. as it would take many hours to save enough space to make any significant difference in size.

I played the game with Ubuntu Linux running Wine 1.4 rc6.

The installer required running 'winetricks vcrun6' and then running 'winecfg' and in the Libraries tab setting the '*mscvrt' override to 'Builtin (Wine)'. After that the game installed fine, and was completely playable.

I have added a few suggestions to the suggestions box, hopefully they'll appear soon. Thank you for this fun game!

I love these games. So much in fact that I have to delete them after playing for an hour or two. Dishes & other silly things like going to work rested must be done.

I really have very little more to add to previous comments. The game is more complex than the last funny bear game that I downloaded. Though it doesn't quite match the animals of the world (not quite the right title, sorry). The real problem with this game boils down to the contrast that someone else mentioned. Contrast isn't too much of a problem on the 5 X 10 boards but on the larger boards it is. I only played through level 1 (Japan) and tried the first bonus. That contrast with the new colored block is not fun and I can't imagine it on a 20 X 20 board.

Thank you to all thumbs up, overall a lovely game.

I agree completely with those asking for greater contrast - sometimes the background even makes it hard to see what squares have been 'filled'. And squares that are filled with a light color aren't always easy to distinguish from squares that I haven't touched yet.
Perhaps if the designers want to use color in the completed picture we could have a pattern on squares that aren't chosen? Or even a box with a question mark on it.
I can see this getting very hard to complete on my laptop as the levels get higher. Perhaps the contrasts are easier to notice on a desktop machine.

I've not had a problen seeing any of the tiles on my desktop, but then I didn't progress to the more comples coards with more colors later in the game.

Excellent choice to offer, GOTD. I'm passionate about these puzzles! For the equally addicted, there is a website with thousands of these in all sizes and levels of complexity: www.griddlers.net - free to join and play. I've been playing there for years and never run out of new challenges.

Also my thanks to Funny Bear and Gamegiveaway.
It's a great follow up to the 2 prior World Riddles games.
Also must mention that I've no problems regarding the graphics.
The graphics of the World Riddles games are kept on a low profile so that it is compatible for as many versions of Windows as possible.

The game is as stated by gamegiveaway compleetly virus free.

I actually own this game and really enjoy it. In fact, I've gotten all of the games in the World Riddles series. Hopefully, they'll come out with a new one. As you get further into these games, they become more and more challenging. Great game offering!

Drat!Ijust bought this game a couple weeks ago, now you give it away, should have waited, love this type of game.
I agree that the contrast between the cleared (gray?) and the color is too close. not bright enough to see the slight design. but have gotten used to it.

thanks keep up the great games
