I downloaded this a week ago and have been playing it off and on since then. It is addicting, if predictable. Who cares? It's still fun. The 3D sets are really interesting and sometimes I wish I could just sit back and watch the action without worrying about losing a life. I do find it a little more challenging as I move through the ranks - I am on 83 now. Will it end or just give me more characters when I get to 100?

..............................Moderator Comment...............................

Glad you are enjoying the game Kris. Not sure about extra characters. The beauty of breakouts like this, they are so unpredicatable, you can play them ovewr and over and never get the same game repeated. There's enough power up upgrades to try different cominations each time you replay it, with different end results each time as well.

I also had problems activating the game. The problem was Internet Explorer was set to work offline. It seems I have this problem when a Giveaway from non-game GOTD goes ahead and opens Internet Explorer, even though I do not use Internet Explorer because it's junky and a security nightmare.

I never seem to have this problem with the GGOTD site, just the GOTD site causing problems when I attempt to download one over there.

Usually, I just avoid the non-game giveaways whenever comments report that a giveaway opens the non-default browser--and a number of people over there complain about that when it happens, like just happened.

This idea may or may not help you. I've never been helped by rebooting the router or clearing cookies or cache. The problem isn't at that level.

If your ISP is offline, you will also not be able to activate anything, and of course that may require a total redownload if your ISP is wonky and ruins the download stream. I've had that happen once years ago, coupled with failure to connect upon activation. This is my first check always, followed by Internet Explorer junkware and it's mad tendency to switch to work offline on its own.

........................Moderator comment....................

I no longer use I.E. but it took me several years to move over to google Chrome and sometimes Firefox. Though i always leave I.E. online for the giveaways. I do mention that you need to have I.E. online to activate giveaways over in the FAQ's thread.

In my opinion (of course) Mega World Smash is one of the best games offered on GGOTD thus far. The graphics, gameplay and music are totally awesome. Definitely worth US$10, and I will recommend this far and wide.

Thanks WhiterabbitUK for the great as always review and moderating the comments. Thanks also to GGOTD, Alawar and everyone else who made this possible.

I agree with Randy. I've tried to download this using a few different browsers and each time the download is much slower than normal and I get a zip file that cannot be opened. It is now late enough that I cannot install this today, the current download will take about 30 minutes to complete (I'm at 11% and downloading at about 30k/sec) so I'll miss this one.

Usually downloads from this site are faster and all my other downloads today are normal. Any server issues going on? In any event, I'll look for this game again another day, it looks interesting.

.......................Moderator Comment....................

Hi Hoopla, sorry to hear you are having so many problems with the giveaway.

You can often still install and register a game giveaway for at least an hour after it ends. So long as you started the download before the giveaway ends.

As for the server issues, i don't know. I'm a volunteer and have no access to the server admin panel.

Well I've tried multiple times to download and install this game. I tried 7-Zip but got the same result. Never had this issue before. Has anyone else had problems with installation? Still says the archive is of unknown format or damaged.

.............................Moderator comment......................

Hi Randy, try deleting the sites cookies from your internet cache. Sometimes they become corrupted and can cause problems with activation. I'd also reboot your modem, make sure I.E. is set to online. Failing these, try another file archiver. Sorry if none of my suggestions work. Check out the FAQ's section for more possible fixes.

Love the game, it is easier than most break-outs, which makes it extremely playable for me. I just have one question/comment. When I first ran the game, it was in the 3-D format that requires the red and blue glasses, fortunately I am a grandfather and have several sets of Hannah Montana glasses. Is there any way to turn this off? I didn't see anything in Options. I kind of enjoy the 3D effect, but I can't find a way to turn it off and it seems it would be hard to play without the glasses.

#54, yes Ricochet Infinity has always been one of my favorites as well.

Thanks to all the moderators and to Alawar for providing this fun little time waster!!

............................Moderator Comment........................

Hi Daniel, the game doesn't need 3D glasses. It's created to look like 3D, but isn't 3D in the real sense. The isometric view gives the appearance of 3D. You can turn off various graphic effects such as reflection if you wish.

I have tried all day to setup this game. It starts the install and then stops. It always comes back and tells me that it had "failed to connect" to your server.

Help!

White Rabbit,
Thanks for the link for X-Ray Ball. Never ran into that one before.

.....................Moderator Comment..........................

It's virtually the same as the first Magic Ball game, but also has a couple more modes such as a child's mode, which is great for children. They can't lose the ball in child's mode. The only other breakout that i know of that has a similar mode is one of my favorite 2D breakouts called Ricochet Infinity. (possibly the best breakout ever created)

Mega World Smash is a very entertaining casual game. I've played it for short periods today while taking breaks. I'd enjoy the game more if the ball could be sped up. I think that if it were possible to choose from several speeds or degrees of difficulty, more people would find the game enjoyable.
I've tried to write a suggestion in the box near the top of the page, but I don't know whether I've succeeded. The operation of the ideas-for-improvements is quite mysterious. If the ideas are actually wanted, the leaving of suggestions should be made a more straightforward process. I think a lot of other people must have been deterred from leaving suggestions by the weirdness of that box.

...............................moderator comment............................

To post a comment in the idea informer panel you first have to click on the feedback button, then put your basic ideas in the first field. Once this is done click on Add feedback. A larger field below the initial field will appear. You 'have' to add something to this area as well. Usually more details of the basic idea you posted in the first field. You can either sign into the idea informer with your forum name and password (the easier option if you have registered with the giveaway forums) or fill in the details name, email and the number that's displayed.

You won't see the idea displayed until its been moderated. i don't moderate those ideas; one of the owners of the site does it.

For example I posted something similar to the what's shown in the images below:

Very cool game. More playable and enjoyable as a time-waster (in a good way) than many in this genre. My only complaint is that there are so many things going on that it's difficult to concentrate on the ball while trying to enjoy the cool little things the programmers have thrown into the mix. I miss most of whatever is coming down the screen, have NO idea what I'm capturing, and really don't care. Took 5 minutes to get to level 9, and enjoyed every minute. Thanks for this game. :)

After playing this a few times today, first Im old I have slow reflexes but I find the ball is too slow, Id speed it up a bit..
Next the power ups should last longer, the game would be a lot better I think. IMHO thanks

Downloaded this game twice. First time there was nothing in the folder so I downloaded a second time and when I tried to open it I get a message " Windows cannot complete the extraction. The destination could not be created".
I am very disappointed because it looks like a great game but I am not going for the third time lucky theory.

..............................Moderator Comment...........................

I'd delete the earlier installation then try for a third time. As you can see from the great response, this is an excellent giveaway. Try installing with admin privileges (just right click on the set up file and select run as Administrator.

I too would say this is Strikeball 3.....and in my case that is a good thing because I love Strikeball, and I LOVE this game! Thanks Whiterabbit and thanks Alawar!!!!

...............................Moderator Comment................................

:) Yes, Strikeball is one of the better 3D versions. I prefer it to Magic Ball/Super Smash Ball, tohugh an oldewr game called Incrediball is my favorite 3D breakout. It has slightly dated graphics now, but the game play is brilliant, with unusual power ups, hidden levels and a story that for a game is quite interesting:

You can download a demo of Incrediball: The Seven Sapphires via the following link:

You can see a couple of videos of gameplay via the following links:

I never play brick busters because they are much too fast for me, but if this one is slow and fairly easy, it might be just the ticket! :o) I'm dl'ing it to try, at least.

...............................Moderator Comment................................

Nice one. You'll find most 3D brick busters like Magic Ball 1,2,3 & 4 (now called Super Smash Ball), Strike Ball 1,2 & 3, Neo Ball, X Ray Ball and Incrediball (one of my favorite 3D breakouts) similar w.r.t to speed.

Hi Lauri,

check that the game isn't being installed into a previous game giveaway. sometimes I've noticed that the previous weeks games install path is showing. when you next install the game, make sure to check where it's being installed to.

i.e.

Capture

Ignore the G in the image above, I always edit the install path to direct my games to a separate hard drive as I prefer to keep all of my games separate from applications, videos images etc. Why G drive? well, I have 7 discs installed in my computer (it's one of those very large gaming cases, so has loads of room for hard drives). :) (with over 5 terabytes of games installed I need them, lol (5TB = 5000GB)

An interesting game. Works well on Win 7 64.
Needed to change the resolution to 1920x1080 for clear graphics.

One thing I noticed is you cannot back out of the character selection screen. You have to select a character and start a game before you back escape back to the main menu. (It's a minor gripe but I accidentally clicked on start instead of options as I wanted to change the resolution first.)

Thanks for the great game.

Cheers,

..................................Moderator Comment.............................

Glad you liked the game. You could always restart the game by changing the player, then deleting your old profile.

Thanks to ggotd & Alawar for this awesome relaxing casual game.!How a game can be both, a boss warrior confrontation RPG with a extreme calming effect in between fights , that makes me close my eyes & loose the ball , like no game has done to me . Is it in the music.? I better test next time with sound in low or off.Is it in the code.? like some strange illuminati control experiment.? What will happen when I play this game when I am extremely tired & with no sleep. ? Like I am 350 days a year.? Please Alawar , listen to the
suggestions .!
Create a good tutorial & make it a good thinking man's strategy game .! I see there's still a lot of potential in this type of game !
A lot of what if's could be tried! Because I didn't find a tutorial . I was worried by many what if's at first, but then I noticed nothing damaging . Like there could be more chances of hurting my paddle ,etc. Using those slave baby dragons & baby armored soldiers . Ways to figure to run the ball behind the dragon or any other item.
I like that It was slower with many more items to deal with. But all those drones need to be smarter , more damaging. Do Not Put Me to Sleep On MY Most Rested Day of The Year. And make me loose my balls of fire ! I only got to level 25 and a million & Quarter points !
I have a windows 7 pro 3 years old , had problem playing other games & even steam is failing me now ! Changed to a new user ( other non admin) and had trouble unzipping it like I wanted . After many tries , had to use the administrator user. The file is now over 65,000
kbs on my G Drive, (gcd) fault. Had no troubles installing after I managed to unzipp.
Took a while on admin to appear from the black screen . ( my computer's fault)? Escape wouldn't work , maybe after rebooting?
Played on three different user account's. All three had esc troubles.
Thanks Again alawar & ggotd. Alawar needs to create a good community forum system
for this kind of games & have mods & modders be involved in those forums... .So many levels that could be added.! Listen to what they have to say ... Indies are taking over because they are doing the listening part.
Happy New Year 2014!

...................................Moderator comment.............................

I agree with you regarding listening. I used to post on Alawars forums/comments section all the time several years ago; always suggesting ideas for their games; especially breakouts because at the time they were my favorite genre, but they never listened.

At least with games like Ricochet infinity (which Alawar now sell, so we may end up with a copy eventually on the giveaway project), they had/have a brilliant community that have uploaded literally tens of thousands of levels that you can download directly from in game (at least with the latest version infinity - earlier versions you have to download and install manually).

Happy New Year everyone :) Thank you very much for this brick busting game, Game giveaway and Alawar. I have a very interesting game from years past from this giveaway site called, Nuclear Ball. It's a shame yous don't bring some of the good ole games back from yesteryear like Nuclear ball, Machine Hell, Jets'n'Guns, Stand 'O'Food just to name ah few. I have been collecting games here from the start and have never lost one game over the years, knock on wood. However, I always put my favorite games on both of my computers just in case something happens to one computer I always have a back up. Just like todays game, I now have it on both comps.
I still miss the good ole days when we use to get games 7 days a week. Seems now ah days were lucky if we see one game weekly and that's if were lucky. Such ah shame. None the less, I am still greatfull even if only once weekly. Thanks again to, AlaWar as well as other vendors and the Game giveaway team for all their hard efforts.
Also a big thank you to White rabbit for his game reviews, moderating this board and helping people out with links and everything else he does for us. Happy New Year Steve. :)

...............................Moderator comment.......................

Hi purple rabbit, you can still get Nuclear Ball from Gametop for free 24/7 , though it goes by a different name (I think it's A Ball) I purchased both Nuclear Ball 1 & 2 from reflexive many years ago. they are still amongst my favorite breakouts. You may even find Machine Hell at Gametop. Also try Jenkat and MyPlayCity. Don't forget to uncheck tick boxes to avoid toolbars etc.

http://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/a-ball/

Still got a copy of Jets 'n' guns as well (also purchased that from Reflexive) Great side scrolling shooter.

Gametop used to have more breakouts. The following are the only ones available from Gametop now. you'll possibly find more free breakouts over ot MyPlayCity or JenKat games..

Capture

Apart from A Ball I highly recommend Geometry Ball . This is another game that's had a name change, off-hand I can't remember the name of original game, it was made by a developer who specialized in screen savers and animated wallpapers.

It was a game giveaway when we still had games every day pre 2008. Whats great about Geometry Ball is that you play against an AI opponent. Whenever the AI hits a ball (from the opposite side of the arena) a brick on your side of the game field will appear, whereas any bricks you destroy will appear on the AI's field. The power ups can also influence the opponents game play. Geometry Ball requires a little strategy and skill to win, but isn't as hard as you may imagine. Basically it's a Game of Breakout/Pong

As best as I can remember I have never had any issues installing games from this site. However, when I try to run the extracted file for this game I get this message, "The archive is either in unknown format or damaged". I've downloaded the file twice and rebooted my computer but still can't install.

...............................Moderator comment.......................

Hi Randy,

I and loads of others have had this problem with other games (for me not just from here). Try using a different archiver such as 7 Zip to unpack the zip file, hopefully that should solve the problem. I've posted links to several different freeware archivers over in the FAQ's which you'll find in the game Discussion sticky section. (I think I've linked to it near the bottom of today's review)

Hi Vladimir, try deleting the game, make sure you delete all registry entries as well, then reinstall. hopefully that will sort the problem. Also try changing the lap tops screen res temporarily if the game continues to crash.

I also have Strike Ball 3, which has helped me to learn about playing breakout games -- previous to that, I had only played one other that did not have any real instructions and I had to learn by losing lots of lives. Mega World Smash has a whole lot that seems to have been taken from SB3 without changes -- including level layouts, graphics and power ups -- but there are some changes which I like. Instead of "expansion" and "shrink", we have bigger and smaller paddles, respectively. I also see a couple of new power ups -- like armor and magnetism. I haven't downloaded the game yet, so I don't quite know what the characters are about, but it seems like an interesting addition, as I saw one screen that indicated that they have different "strengths", i.e. attack and defense. Anyway, based on Stephen's review and the linked videos, I think I would like this game at least as much as SB3. However, I would also like to make a couple comments based on playing SB3 which I would consider to be feedback to the game developers: First, there doesn't seem to be an exit game button if I want to leave during play. Second, at the end of the game (either when I have lost all my lives or completed all the levels), the power ups keep their upgrades, so I am accumulating stars but have nothing for which to use them -- What's up with that? By creating a new player identity, I can start again from scratch, but it would be nice to be able to wipe the slate clean.

Thank you Alawar for offering us this fine game, and to Stephen for continuing to give us such great reviews.

Love your new year greeting graphic!

Hi Nikos, yes, just delete the installed game. Most game giveaways are free standing, impacting the computer very little. I do think Alawar games do write to the registry, so trying to move the installed game to another computer won't work.

Well, I got the game to play and it is very enjoyable. I had to go to C: Users Roaming Alawar and delete the Mega World Smash folder, even though I had downloaded the game to a J: drive partition. Interestingly, a system restore did not remove the game so this fix did the trick. I am posting because I did not see this as a method to fix screen resolution issues on your other page. I am using win 7 64.

Well, it's OK, I suppose...

I'm not really a fan of this type of game - though I do keep trying them when they're offered here.

I have 2 main gripes with today's offering:

1) It's too slow, even for me - especially when the 'slowdown snail' gets involved.

2) The character's insistence on stopping gameplay to (very slowly) tell me something I've already (or only just) worked out slows it down even more. I assume there's a way to turn him off, but the game hasn't motivated me to go back and see.

Although things like grenades bounce, I'd really like to see some way of tossing and/or bouncing the ball(s) FROM THE BAT/PADDLE - an idea I did add to the 'suggestions' box, above, but that hasn't yet shown up for some reason.

One last thing - I've not seen any mention of the fact that you can zoom in-and-out with the scroll-wheel. I'm not sure how far you can go in either direction, but it's a nice little thing to discover.

As you said, there's only so much you can do with a breakout game - you see one, you've seen them all. But this one is fun, the comparatively slower ball makes for a more casual game ...which at my age is often appreciated.

Some breakouts are quite innovative, for example check out Shatter:

Don't have the time to test this game for any significant period of time, but it does indeed look like an even prettier version of Strike Ball 3 (which I liked) with a more convoluted bonus system (for originality's sake, I suppose). I don't love the automated hints or pseudo funny comments from the character chosen, but it still is a keeper and received a thumbs up vote from me. Not sure why anyone would purchase the game since it is given away for free here and self standing, but...

I've had this game for over a year. I got it with "points" earned by surveys and then redeemed for Alawar games. I kind of agree with Delilah (#6) concerning Whiterabbit not thinking it's fast enough therefor just right for me.

That silly robot is a bit annoying but the game is fun. I don't play for intensity and stress, I play to just relax and enjoy and this game fits the bill.

It usually takes more than one circuit of the 4 players to get all the powerups for all of them.

If you want a little more speed -- choose the rightmost character. The ball speed is a bit faster for him!

It's a solid Thumbs Up for me (even though I didn't get this version). I have the Alawar wrapper header screen!

This looked like an entertaining game. Unfortunately, I increased the screen resolution to a size my computer could not handle. I now have a black screen and cannot figure out how to lower the resolution. I have reinstalled 3x, gone to regedit to delete any mention of the game, and still cannot get the game back with anything but a black screen.

..........................Moderator comment...................................

I've checked the appdata folder and my documents to see if there are any files in those locations. Ziltch. There doesn't appear to be any configuration file within the games folder (where you'd be able to change the resolution back. When you reinstalled the game, did you delete the previous install first, or install over the old install? If it was the latter, make sure the old version is deleted before reinstalling. If that doesn't work, its could be something in the registry you've may have missed. I checked through the registry, but mine will be slightly different as I'd installed the demo from big fish and had more entries than if I'd just installed the Alawar version.

Try changing your computers screen resolution temporarily to see if that resolves the problem. you could also try disabling some of the graphic options via the compatibility tab (right click on the games shortcut, select properties then click on the compatibility tab.

If none of those work try updating your graphic drivers. If you're not sure how to do that, post here to ask how or if the giveaway has finished post over in the game discussion forums. :)

This is very similar to the truly magnificent Strike Ball 2, I actually own that version and it still keeps me amused today, you can litterally play for hours and it holds the interest of the most keenest games player. This game is also ranks as the best in ball games. I used to be a pinball games player in my youth and this holds similarities to the old pinball games but far better for todays generation of games players. Excellent programming and exceptional value for money !! thanks to GOTD and the Big Fish Games and Alawar for making this all possible.

If you used to play pinball in your youth check out the latest pin ball simulation, Pinball FX2:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4XRCCAlHmI

It's one of the best I've seen, with over 35 tables. There's also the recently released Pinball Arcade with even more tables (though that one isn't cheap and hasn't been reduced in price yet. Pinball FX2 has been in several sales already.

Add my thanks to Alawar and Playrix -- I've tried most of their free games that were offered here and because of the experience I have then bought other games from their sites. No time to be a real gamer, but wouldn't have tried much less purchased any games without these free deals...so...a huge thank you to Game GAOTD and the companies that participate!

Another typical breakout game published by Alawar. I mean that in a good way. It has all the thrills and spills associated with their other breakout games. I've been playing this style of game ever since the original Arkanoid game came out on the Atari about 75 years ago, which I played for countless hours.
I've played close to a hundred of this type of game and IMHO, Alawar rewrote the book on Arkanoid and is the Gold Medal Winner in this arena.
The original Magic Ball quickly became my favorite, with the 3-D like graphics and numerous power-ups.
The graphics in their games are ridiculously outstanding, but more so, the physics are amazing; the way the structures tumble, fall and propel around the screen.
Special thanks to Alawar,White Rabbit and Game Giveaway for bringing us these special treats all the time.

Thanks for your feedback FUZZY.

X-Ray ball was a pre cursor to Magic Ball, also released by Alawar. They recently removed quite a few of their older breakouts such as Clash, Neoball, Timebreaker and Hyperballoid but their sister site Gamextazy still holds them all. When I type in Gamextazy it sends me to another site that I believe is also associated with Alawar. You'll find all of their older games there

Downloaded Mega world smash ok but cannot quit the game
Tried control alt delete and it would not allow me to do that but kepat popping up. Would not allow me to hut of my pc so I had to cut power off
When I did this and rebooted pc making buzzing sound. Now doing a full security scan and hope the problem will solve.
tried to send this before but it said this was a duplicate copy.

..........................Moderator comment...............................

see my reply above

p.s. can't explain the buzzing sound. A game shouldn't affect your sound hardware????, but doing an illegal shutdown may have caused the problem.

Hi there

Just downloaded this game and looks great played 1 level to continue later. the game would not let me exit out but moved to the next leve.
could not remove it even by control-alt-delete as it kept poppong up.
I could not minimize it or even safely shut of my pc. Hd to shut power
of in order to rid it.

Rebooted my pc which very slowly came back to normal. Pc now making a buzzing noise.

I use windows 8. Am now doing a full scan and have deleted the entire program. pc is till buzzing. Hoping the scan will find the problem.

To finish a game you have to press escape, you then get the option to return to the main menu where you can then exit the game normally.

If you are still getting a buzzing sound after rebooting the computer, try updating your audio drivers. To find out what audio drivers you need open up the direct X panel by typing dxdiag in the search field. then open up the sound tabs. you should then be able to see what audio chip you are using. Go to the manufacturers web site and look for the driver tab

This game is ok, but I found one issue as it doesn't do it when you are playing game but when you close game out. I use firefox for internet and sometimes IE 10 and if use IE 10 while this game is installed it keeps issuing a pop up about java and my java is up to date. This is something obviously in the programming. I know as it didn't happen when I removed game application when used system restore. I have also taken programming class at college.

Thanks for review. Like the genre so promising start to New Year. Appears dressy version of originals, see the airplane strike. This theme can stand having some addition features so step by steop we go along with it. Also sppreciate being able to do level now & then when just want a short play. Stay warm to those of us in path of bitter cold. This game will keep blood fired up....

A great game, a fantastic giveaway! but please, PLEASE, I'm begging the powers that be (i.e., all the PC game developers), consider including an option of the initial start-up of the game not in fullscreen mode but in a regular window... maybe as a command-line option. It has to be very simple.

Happy New Year to all and many thanks to White Rabbi for the game description and all the descriptions!

Downloaded, Installed, and Activated with no problems on my Win7x64 machine.

As soon as you see the Alawar Logo you know to expect a couple of things. One, that the graphics will be beautiful and two, that the gameplay will be smooth and entertaining. This offering neither disappoints nor changes those expectations. Alawar stands second to none when it comes to the effort expended to the graphics in their games. I've only played the first two levels so far and am delighted with it.A refreshing change from the Match Three (for me anyway)genre. as stated earlier I've only played the first two levels so far and while they were typical in the fact that the early levels of ANY game are fairly easy, I see by others that it probably won't get much harder except for the Bosses (maybe). Thats O.K. too, as sometimes you just want a half hour or so diversion instead of a hours long marathon. I see that you can't save your power ups and that is kind of a disappointment, but I guess you can use that fact to make the game a little harder if you wish. You know, by letting some or all of them go by and just concentrate on Gold or whatever strikes your fancy. I did'nt see a tutorial, but really this game needs none as its intuitive even if you've never played this type of game before. Thats about it as far as "cons" are concerned, sorry Alawar but I can come up with no more helpful criticism.

I see that a comment has been deleted because of either foul language and/or false claims of adware/spyware. I'm been coming here for YEARS now and have downloaded many many games over that time period and have NEVER encountered ANY form of adware or spyware from this wonderful site in those downloads. This is one of the few sites left that doesn't at least try to offer that you install Google or worse. I commend both GGAOTD and their parent site GAOTD for this.

Thank you for your feedback. I rarely delete comments, but the one above used foul language and was quite aggressive.

The minute I told the hubby they had a breakout game on GGOTD that was similar to Magic Ball and Strike Ball, he was THERE downloading it. LOL And I see he has already made two comments..Allen=13 and 14.

He loves these games. So Thanks to Alawar and GGOTD for offereing it. He is one happy camper. I even got it.

Thanks Wabbit for the review. The minute I saw those pics, I knew he would love it.

Tell you son "Happy Birthday from us" and huggles to the family. Hope he is enjoying his birthday in his new house.

Hi Delenn, ah, so Allen is your hubby. I remember you telling me that he liked car based games; he may be interested in the following. It's the next game from Bugbear, the developers of those amazing demolition derby games Flatout 1 to Ultimate Carnage with destructible vehicles and environments. They have started to sell their alpha stage game called 'That Next Car Game' (strange title).

It's very early in its development, but, if you buy into the gamer now you'll get it cheaper. there's a steam key that gives you early access. At the moment there's just two cars to choose from and one demolition derby arena, plus a downloadable demo demonstrating the destruction physics. I've already played it for four hours even though it's only a fraction of the final game. You can check it out via the following link:

This is a game filled with lots and lots of PRETTY DESTRUCTION! Wait! pretty destruction? That doesn't make sense! Since when is destruction PRETTY?

I don't like these destroy-everything-in-sight games. I'm passing on this one.

There was no Saturday game offer again this week :( :( :( I'm REALLY beginning to wonder "what's up with that?"

.................................Moderator comment...............................

Basically the giveaway team haven't been able to get developers to give any games away. Times are still hard, with lots of sales, indie bundles and new games being sold at cut down prices within weeks of release its hardly surprising that we don't get many games.

Hopefully, things will improve with time. Even one game is better than none at all. :)

Thankfully Alawar and Playrix have been brilliant over the last few years. We wouldn't have got many games at all but for them. So I would like to wish both of these developers a massive New Year and hope that their businesses continue to flourish. I'd also like to wish all the other developers who have given away games and to the large community that visit the site every week.

And I also forgot to tell White Rabbit thanks for a great Review

.................................Moderator comment...............................

The main review was from Gamezebo. I didn't have time to write a full review, though usually I do for breakouts as they are may favorite arcade genre.

With a birthday to cope with (we tend to celebrate for the whole week with a couple of parties (one with family , one with friends) plus visits to various places like ski slopes, water parks etc - basically we spoil the kids rotten

This Game may be a remake of strike ball 3 (which I play all the time) but it to is awesome if you like breakout games I highly recommend this game. I have a lot of Alawar games on my PC that I play regularly every morning for about 2 hours while I enjoy my coffee. Thanks again to GGOTD and ALAWAR for for another great game to enjoy. I will definitely be purchasing this one.
