The game is about twice the size of previous giveaway , more levels ? , still difficult enough to entertain for a basic game. really enjoy these light on resources; things can still run without impact on system performance and supposing no effect on power use , especially if laptop or other battery powered types. OK, it dl fine on my laptop (Win7 x64). I'm not real fond of these games, so it is no surprise that I am stuck at level 5 (LOL). I'll eventually work my way thru it or throw something at my laptop!!! There are lots of small soft things around my desk just for that reason! Thank goodness the music can be turned off. The graphics are so-so. I'd give the game a 6.

In no way would I ever let the community know what's coming up w.r.t. games, but I can say we have a new developer on board who created one of my most favorite indie games of all time (to date), they have never given a game away before now. I don't know when it will be given away yet, but it will be over the coming weeks. :)

What is the version of the game today?

Wondering why the negative reviews, it's free and install wise, it's one .exe file in the directory.

No registration hassles or spyware at all.

Gameplay is easy to figure out and fun.

Thanks for the MAC version! I hope you continue to offer Mac versions for games that are available in that format! I had hoped that last week's hidden object game would also include the Mac version, but unfortunately was not. Thanks again for this week!!!

A simple game but a fun one. We are used to having an included tutorial in most games to show us how objects interact. This game lets you discover object interactions on your own through trial and error. I think, in this case, it adds to the game. As for improving the game, I think Whiterabbit's list is pretty much complete.

Ok Win 7 x64 Ultimate SP1. Full screen w/ side borders or windowed mode (default). Can turn off music, basic menu. Decent little puzzle game. Nice feeling once solve a level. Just did first 5 or so to get sense of it. Only the one executable so run anywhere w/ shortcut.
Don't expect great eye filling candy but the game is still fun for what it represents to the mind. Haven't played all levels so don't know if need more of those or an editor but as is 9/10 for genre.
Thanks guys. And double thanks for pointers from WR to Wing C Saga. Loved the original. Second one just so so. Interesting to see how Saga goes - is a 3 GB d/l so expecting a decent quality to it. Haven't had chance to read any reviews so will just dig in later.

This game for me was actually challenging. The graphics and music may not say much, but the puzzles had me wondering more than once. I think a problem of this game is the levels are too finicky, especially the ramp ones. If you don't click exactly right you won't get all the shapes.

I looked through the Flash file, and all the levels are stored as clips, so there's no easy way to load new levels. For size comparison, the inner Flash file is ~2.5 MB while the EXE in total is >7 MB.

If you like Hitab Games (the developer) games, they have a couple of games in development. There's Mad Shapes 2, which is only a developer test version with no playable levels, and something called "Saws Walker", which seems like a playable game. Downloaded and installed on Windows XP quick and easy with no problems.

Rather short game but looks and plays nicely.

My only comment is that one more hint or some instructions would have helped me get past a few levels (like the ability to use the next shape while the previous one is in play.)

Downloaded, played a couple of levels. Seems to work fine. Not really fond of these types of games, they don't hold my interest. Would suggest adding options on start menu instead of game level. Would be nice to have a full screen option as well as sound. Would rate it an overall 5.

Downloaded and ran on Mac without a problem. Took me longer to scroll down to here to post a comment than install it. Not sure I can add to the first post as it seems to have covered everything. Thanks as ever to Game GotD for providing a Mac version.

Second @2 Jackie - Wheemplay games are simple to install and great fun to play!

I downloaded this one or the precursor and found it great fun - The physics are quite ok. Not perfect, but it is a great deal (free is fantastic or the .99 is still good for the hour or two each family member may take to complete it!

Games of M/s Wheemplay are easy to manage as there are no complicated installations and contain only a single file. Games are good.

The game downloads to a 7.5Mb zip file that unpacks to a read me and dual activation and setup file. The game installs to the following path by default, but you can change the path during the installation wizard if you wish:

C:\Games

As with all Wheemplay games the games executable is installed directly into the games folder with no associated files. You will need to create your own shortcut for the game. It works on XP, Vista and Win 7. To uninstall just delete the installed executable. There are no registry files associated with the game so you won't be able to uninstall using windows own uninstaller. I'm not sure about Revo Uninstaller Pro as I've still not installed the copy I purchased last year.

The Game:l>

Mad shapes is a simple flash based physics game where you have to match colored shapes using the environment and various power ups to move the objects together. There are only 25 levels available, but they should keep you occupied for an hour or so (dependng upon how quick you are at solving the puzzles and whether you are aiming to get a high score to upload to the developers high score tables. I was able to upload my high score at any level when playing the browser game, but it appears to be locked in the downloadable version. As you would expect with any puzzle game, the puzzles get progressively harder as you progress; that said, I found them very easy and powered through several levels in a matter of minutes.

The aim of the game is to match colored shapes with their corresponding colored shape that you'll find somewhere in the level. The objects you have to match appear one at a time over the mouse pointer so make sure you select the correct match otherwise you'll need to restart the level via the button to the left of the playing area. you can restart a level at any time and replay any levels as many times as you wish. To complete most levels you'll need to use the various power ups such as 'speed up's and 'gravity changers' to complete the level. Each level is timed to count backwards from 100 seconds, in increments of 0.1 seconds (you'll see the counter whizzing down from 1000). The quicker you solve the puzzle the more points you will get.

The game is very colorful with nondescript music which can be turned off via the level selection screen. When first starting the game you'll find that you can play any of the 25 levels in any order you wish because they are all unlocked. Once you've completed a level there is an indicator next to the level number in the levels section that shows you which levels you've played. If you play the free browser versions of this game only the first 5 levels are unlocked. Every time you complete a level a new level will be unlocked.

There are two videos available that cover walkthroughs for all the levels. Unfortunately you have to watch up to 13 different solutions to find your own because there isn't any individual walkthroughs.

Conclusion:l>

Although you can play this game online at a multitude of browser game sites (just Google Play MadShapes), the advantage of downloading today's gamegiveaway rather than playing it via a browser is that you can play it offline at any time, play it in full screen or avoid any possibility of pop-ups and malware from rougue sites.

Despite the sparcity of levels, the game is well suited as a fill in game when you need a short break from work or other larger more complex games. The levels are easy enough for children to play, yet challenging enough to give any adult a few minutes of distraction.

Because to most users game play is more important than the other categories I've doubled the game play score to 14 out of 20, which skews the final score slightly higher to 30 out of 50 which equates to a score of 6 out of 10.

1) ... Include a levels editor (25 level's is just not enough)
2) ... Combine all of your flash games into a single compendium of arcade games.
3) ... Add different backgrounds to the game
4) ... Linked to the above - create different stages with different environments
5) ... Include achievements and awards
6) ... At least double the number of levels

Developers rely on good feedback to improve their games. If you download this game please take some time once you’ve played it a while to leave some constructive feedback either positive or negative. The more constructive feedback we get, the more likely developers are going to give more games away. The giveaway site already has a very good standing with the search engines. Developers want their products out there on the WWW, this site has the potential to do that. The game giveaway project gives away on average between 9 to 17 thousand downloads for each game depending upon what genre and how obscure the game is. That’s a lot of homes these games are being downloaded into and a lot of 'potential' cash that’s being lost by the developers. If we get better games because of better feedback, the community are likely to continue to benefit from the generosity of the developers. Satisfied community members are then more likely to visit the home sites of those developers and purchase games that they may not have bothered with before they discovered the developer via the game giveaway site, thus giving the developers more incentives to give away even more decent games.

Please leave some feedback once you’ve checked the game out. It can be positive or negative, but please explain what your reasons were for the feedback you post. You could also leave suggestions for improving the game, for example, this game could do with more block types for the levels editor, add more power-ups, describing the ones you think would be suitable, add some mini games (which seem all the rage in some arcade games now) or enable the user to be able to change the in game music easily.
