i downloaded and installed twice, but there was always the same glitch. the get more slaves button was being loaded with the key for the next round button, so i couldn't get more slaves or get the key to the next round. i was really really disapointed because i love games like this :(

#77 - Doesn't seem like it. The cards are all placed at 24; 668, and since you can pick three random cards, the software itself would have to take 24; 668 as the first card, and add values to the two subsequent cards when displaying. I suppose they could be hard coded if you knew what cards you liked to play with all the time, but who does???

I noticed a bunch of typos in the .xml files, and the main exe is a MFC with no company and program info, tagged as "TO DO", and the coder couldn't seem to be bothered to import the .ico file into the exe... Bad habit, typical of someone learning to code (not that that's a bad thing) but if it's for sale this long, the least they could do is return to it and fix these things.

Yet another problem with this software that is good, yet seems to struggle.

I have the same problem as many others on XP. Buttons are all piled up and cannot play past the halfway point of the first level when there are more than three ghosts showing up.
I can't buy anything except one potion upgrade in the very beginning of the game.
It really looks like a cute game and my daughters were really interested which is always a plus, but I'm uninstalling it because it is virtually unplayable.

The interface is severely bugged.. I have to push buttons to spawn new characters, but all I see or can click is for example the key button to go to the next level. At some point the icons got all mixed up, making it impossible to win a match because I can't spawn new characters.

It's a shame, because that makes unplayable an otherwise quite interesting and enjoyable game.

Boring and broken (for example, I can't buy any servants.)

Not recommended.

like the game. not my kind of game though. only prob is at level 2, u need to buy more servants but the level key is in the spot to click for more servants. will give thumbs up for graphics and cute story line, but thumbs down because of not able to continue.

the downloads are broke in firefox.. they have been for a while.. so I don't know how this game is..

I tried the earlier fixes - not enough, but thanks to #72, everything works perfect!

Thanks. I downloaded and installed smoothly on Vista Home. No problems on my end. I even tried to play this game for a few minutes and think the kids and grandkids will care for this game more than me. It seems to be a kid game. I applied the patch from #72. However, on the game screen, only the first card appears in the card slots, regardless of how many cards you have. Some cards say "activated manually", so I can't use the card if I have the bat card chosen for the level (I'm not sure if the same is true if any other card is chosen).

I only get a 60 min. trial....and it doesn't appear that there's a read me file..etc.....and i know I would love this game!!! I have tried everything to get a full version, and nothing works!! Pleeeez..what now???

The buttons now work, but it still seems that the elixirs are wearing off within seconds of being drank.

Sorry, have to add to the thumbs down on this one but only for BUGS.

1. Could not add servants.
2. Could not buy items that I had enough money for.
3. Servant was tired instantly after drinking potion.

The game is a D&D style twist on Insaniquarium, and I am sure it will be much more fun once these kinks are worked out.

As soon as I restarted the game again it was back to the same old thing.

I did, however, try #72's fix and it seems to work. The icons/buttons are where they should be and when I had played through a few levels all was still well.

By the way, the Icon Constucter is as much fun as a game, lol! Will finish out the demo I downloaded and give up! Either they sent us the Beta, or something got messed up along the way.

ok, as others have stated, there is some major problems with the config files. I have edited the two files and believe this fixes all the button placements, I think Joe mixed up a couple of buttons with his but it's very close to what I got :-)

This is a very silly set of bugs to have in a released game, I can only conclude no-one from either the developer or the hoster have ever actually installed and run this particular install. Very shabby.

Also running Vista home premium, also receiving game dat. error message. Attempted re-install with firewall and virus protection switched off, same problem. Will have to un-install.

Game worked fine when I downloaded 1 hour free trial from another site.

Looks very interesting, but after reading all the gripes about all the bugs, I think I'll pass on this one. I'm well-aware that there's just no pleasing some people, but when the majority of the posts describe the exact same problem, I have to believe it's something more than disgruntled downloaders.

Open in notepad --> use find to get to slot-elixir-2
that and slot-elixir-3 should be position="135; 8"
down to slot-giving-hand --> 2 thru 8 should be position="233; 8"
down to slot-create-troglodyte --> should be position="331; 9"
down to slot-create-troll --> should be position="629; 9"
(not sure about the grizzly bear thru golem ones as haven't gotten that far... but would be the trog or troll positions probably)

down to punishing-hand--> 2-8 should be position="825; 8"
and as stated the slot-key should be position="931; 35"

That so far has put everything right and playable for me

#58: You apparently did not play the game long enough. That one slot # change in the files is NOT the cure to the problem. There is a lot more to it than that, and we should all leave it up to Meridian'93 to fix. We as game players/users should not have the task of fixing programming glitches! We got games to play!! ;-)

Yeah, I'm on XP 64 bit, and same problem here.....

Installed just in case I would be lucky to get a working copy, but no. Servants button is overwritten by the Key to Next Level, then the Food Quantity is overwritten by the Ring button. And so on, but couldn't play to win to get much further.

Well, I actually started the download before reading the comments today ... the button doubled-up glitch is on my Windows XP system, too. I am uninstalling this game - maybe 'they' will correct the problem and you can offer it again? Thanks for the code change comments - but I would need detailed instructions to try the fix offered. They are obviously not computers, as they both allow offensive content(and I'm not using Ernie LaVallee's definition of "offensive"!) and take hours to pass comments. Filters do not do either, but they do let an amazing amount of spam through.

Like the game, but the coding on it is all wrong. Did the fix as #53 said, but that doesn't fix the rest of the screen. I can't buy a servant when I have a troglodyte because the trog is in the servant's area. If I knew what all the locations were number wise, I would change every one of them.

#53 revealed the problem, a majority of the slot positions are messed up, including but not limited to the key.

IT WORKS!!! AT LEAST FOR ME IT DID!!! I'M NOW PLAYING WITH NO PROBLEMS!!!

1. Open up the Mad Magic install folder,
2. Open the Config folder,
3. Make make backup copies of the below XML Documents before editing,
4. Open "Skin" and "Skin-en" with a text editor (such as Notepad),
5. Go to the edit menu and click on find,
6. Find the following - "slot-key position=" (without the quotes -there's only one),
7. Change values from <slot-key position=”28; 34″ to <slot-key position=”931; 35",
8. Save and exit,
9. Do the same for the other XML Documents.

It worked for me pretty well. I hope it works for you.

Slot-key worked for that fix, thanks #53. However, the other items still end up over the "Elixir Quality" spot. Have to do a bit more tweaking to get everything right.

I'm at a loss with this game, It the object to watch a ogre-looking fellow drink potions and whack leprechauns on the head for coins? Is that supposed to be entertaining?

I'm not ungrateful for the free games, but this isn't the least bit fun so far....

The artwork is very pretty though so props to the illustrators and artists.

Well GGOTD said they'd be giving us a fresh crop of games this year but I guess that wasn't true. I have seen numerous repeats even AFTER they issued a statement saying they'd give us NEW games. Thumbs down simply because this is a repeat. It was NOT long ago that I downloaded and FINISHED this game. Very poor indeed.

Actually the correct value is not 570 but it works i'm too lazy to get the correct ones.

I believe I would like the game but hate the fact that I can't get past level 3 due to the bugs mentioned above. I've got XP SP2 and everything works fine except for the buttons and upgrades. It would be nice to get a chance to actually play the game.
