I downloaded this when it was given and it worked great up until now and as it starts to load it hangs up then comes up with an error that it can't load some of the jpgs and closes.

I am very disappointed and wonder if this has happened to anyone else and how they fixed the problem?

It makes me skiddish to buy any of their other games.

Would appreciate any information on this.
Thanks

Thanks for the feedback. My copy is still working. The only thing I can suggest is that you manually delete the game then reinstall the game to the same location using the demo from te developer. Don't use the uninstaller as that will remove the registration code. Actually, befor you delete the game try reinstalling the dem directly over the original.

I can't guarantee that it will work, but as I see it ths is the only way I can thin of the fix the problem. You could try installing the demo to a different location first (before deleting the original), then moving parts of the program over to the 'broken copy. I must reiterate though that you sould not use the provided uninstaller.

This game is awesome. I normally pass up match-three style games, but I was lured in by the screensaver option.

I like the variety of the puzzles, but would like to see a few more intricate and challenging puzzles. I only ran out of time on a puzzle once before I got all 3 tanks to gold; and even then I had the match to complete the puzzle lined up, but just wasn't fast enough to make it before the clock stopped. This may seem a bit backwards, but when it comes to puzzle games, I like for the game to beat me a few times... Just seems like more of a challenge then.

Another thing I would like to see is more realistic fish. The fish in the game/screensaver are a bit too cartoony. The landscapes and objects look great though.

And finally, there should be an option to hide the "comfort" items (especially the feeder, filter, and heater) in the screensaver. I don't mind seeing them while in the game, but they make the screensaver look kinda awkward. Another (and probably better/easier) way of doing this might be to have dedicated screensaver tanks, allowing players to clone game tanks to them and then modify them however they want. This would also be a good idea for low performance computers since the player would be able to have a minimal screensaver while retaining his fully loaded tanks for the score bonus.

Overall, this is a great game (my 6yo niece thinks so too) and is well worth the $4 asking price. If the all 3 features I commented on were included, I might consider it at $10. Keep up the good work, Playrix!

Fishdom is a very colorful, fun game. The match 3 gameplay and the aquarium decorating are both enjoyable. The only tiny improvement I can think of for this game would be to add a counter to the "beauty" items, similar to the counter used for keeping track of the number of fish purchased. Sometimes I would like to be able to tell at a glance if I have purchased an item already (i.e., if I want to have one of each beauty item in my tank), or see which item I would like to have in pairs. Thanks to Playrix for a really nice game.

When I first saw the picture of this game, I did not look to interested in playing it. Well after a few hours of playing it, I really enjoy the game. It seems to get harder as you progress and play the levels, but that is one thing I really like this game other than the graphics and the fish (Having an fish tank without the mess :D)

Install was great and the activation did not have any issues. I really like to tutorial since it does help with learning the game, and you can have it set the tank with all your fish and stuff inside as a screensaver which is cool.

This game would do great for people who live in small spaces and can not have a fish tank. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would give this game about an 9. The music itself I did not like, so I just turned it off so that I could get more full effects of the sound.

I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who wants to have fun and also wants an fish tank and can not have one.

Thanks for your feedback. By the way, if you like virtual fish then check out aquazone. A brilliant open world environment with loads of fish to choose from. The basic package comes with three environments and you can buy expansions that add more. These include a benthic (bottom of the sea) edition, an Arctic environment, a coral reef plus a couple more. The graphics are excellent. Check it out:

http://store.smithmicro.com/productDetails.aspx?pid=10879

I've got several fish screensavers, but Aquazone IMO is the best one because you have open world environments that allow you to follow your fish while they swim through a large area (hundreds of times bigger than a fish tank) You can add as many fish as your processor and memory will allow. (Though I've not checked out any recently released products. Aquazone 2 is about 3- 4 years old now and Aquazone even older, but the graphics are superb). The images don't do the product justice to be honest. You need to see some You Tube videos. :)

I'm getting the runtime error too. Tried uninstalling & reinstalling, even re-downloaded, tried installing on clean boot with everything unnecessary shut off, and still get the runtime error. Very disappointed because I lost this program when I had to reinstall my PC. You'd think, it would work the second time :-( Leaving it installed in case I finally find a fix. Have been looking all day...

Chis #45, on the off chance that you'll see this, sounds like you'd enjoy the later ones in the series then. Much better fish graphics, I think.

For the educational aspect, try the Playrix demo (from their site) of Fishdom 2 Premium Edition. Under Extras it has a "Fishipedia" that give a little background info on each fish in the collection, nearly 100 of 'em, along with a pic of the real thing.

I've never been a huge fan of match 3 games (except for the Zuma style ones), so I thought to myself, "I'll give this game 10 levels to give me an idea of what it's like."

Next time I looked up, I was on level 25 with a silver cup in my first tank. Needless to say, I think this game has the potential to be very addictive.

It seems the addiction stems mainly from the customizable fish tank. There's a fair amount of things to add to your tank, although I think it could use some more items and a bit more visual variety. Between simply decorating my tank and trying to earn cups, I felt the fish tank really drove me to continue playing. It's also nice that your tank can be used as a screensaver.

Gameplay is a little above average, in my opinion. One thing I liked was that the game allowed me to continue matching pieces as other pieces fell, rather than having to wait while my time ticks away. I also liked that the powerups were on the board itself. I found myself having to actually think about how to maneuver my powerup to its most useful place. Powerups also seemed to require the right amount of effort for the reward they offered. The boards so far seemed to have some thought put into them as to how the pieces would flow, rather than simply picking some wild looking shape.

One thing I could criticize is the time limit, or perhaps I should say, lack thereof. So far, I've yet to see my time dip below 3/4 left. The timer hasn't served any purpose other than boosting my score. Perhaps that's all it was intended to do, or perhaps it will play more of a role as I progress.

The overall atmosphere is very calming. The music is gentle and relaxing. Graphically, it's a little blurry, but colorful and fun nonetheless. The fish swimming in the background as you play also add to the peaceful feeling of the game. And of course, being able to stop and watch them at any time is soothing. This game does a wonderful job of keeping the tension low and would be a very good way to unwind.

Thinking of graphics, (I know I sound like a broken record here) it would be nice if the game had widescreen support or at least an in-game option to switch on black bars on the sides of the screen. I know this probably won't be added to this game, but the developer should keep it in mind for future releases.

Overall, I think the game's strongest point is the level of addiction it can create. I know one of the biggest reasons I'll be playing is to keep adding to my tanks. The gameplay is obviously good enough to keep me playing, but there's pretty much no variety.

Definitely a great game for fans of the genre or those who enjoy customizing things, and it may even draw in people who don't think they'd like its gameplay.

Thanks GGAOTD and Playrix!

I'm so incredibly happy that this game is back as a giveaway! Bought a new laptop, and now I get to have one of my favorite games on the new one, too! Yippee! I guess I may be easily entertained, but the graphics are pretty good, the game is reasonable, and it keeps me occupied when I want to be. Thanks for bringing it back!

I got this one in a previous giveaway, but it's still one of my favorite games. Lots of re-playability, even though the levels repeat after a (long, long) while. I like that you have a fishtank excuse to keep playing -- Oooh, gotta do two more levels so I have enough money to buy the little dragon figurine :)

While I had first gotten Fishdom for free from GGOTD, but that got me to associate 'Playrix' with 'quality games that I like to play'. And I have since become a frequent customer. So, thank you to GGOTD and Playrix.

I played through to half way to getting the silver cup on the first aquarium. This is a very playable game.

I would have to agree with others that while it is a very good game I wouldn't pay nearly $20.00. $10.00 dollars might tempt me or even as high as $12.00.

Although the tutorial isn't really necessary for someone familiar with match 3 games I took a look at it. There could have been a better walk through of the bonuses that you receive for linking more than 3 items. Also there are hints that the combinations of fish, beautification and comfort apparently need to be balanced per some hints in the descriptions of items that you purchase. This too could be elaborated in the tutorial phase.

The matching board seem to go back and forth in degrees of difficultly as the game progresses. It keeps the game interesting because there is the chance to breeze through a board so that you earn extra money for an aquarium item. Then you will have the next board with an interesting challenge to get everything lined up to get the match. This is probably the best part of the game.

I would say a clean up to the tutorial for the very youngest or newest to match three games and this would be an all around winner.

Thank you to the developer and game give away of the day. -Now off to feed my off line fish

Thank you GGOTD! Thank you to Playrix for another quality fun game! There are times where I don't want to micromanage my Sims or bash things with Lego games and such. I love these match 3, they are relaxing. I think Fishdom is unique due to the make your own screen saver! I enjoy using the money to improve the fish, comfort, or beauty of my tanks. I love the fact that you can unlock more tanks with different themes. I wish there were more tanks, or perhaps a way to have your fish grow. I think the graphics are very nice as is the sound. A better instruction for the power ups is needed, or perhaps different ones. Mini games would help break up the tenseness of the higher levels.

This is a fun game for anyone in the family. Thank you!

Hi Playrix
Thanks for these games. As much as I love Fishdom it does only have 3 fish tanks. If you want to play more you need to create a new profile.
The Fishdom- Frosty Splash has unlimited tanks (all with the same background) I pick a colour scheme and work with that ;-)
My only problem is that it heats up my poor old laptop and makes the fan work hard.
Just had to check but it seems like I am on the 14th tank and level 473.
Thanks again

I just had to tell Playrix that I have every game shown on this page -except Fishdom. I LOVE your games, though the Gardenscapes, etc. don't last long enough.

Thank you GOTD for giving us this really nice game today. I don't usually download the free games because I'm not interested in shooters or arcade-type games. But, if you don't have either Fishdom game, you really should add this one to your arsenal.

This is a pretty nice game, but one thing that put me off was the graphics. They are pretty good, I admit it, but I can see how they are aimed at a younger audience.

The game looks really cute, but the font and the shininess on everything kind of makes me cringe. The fish have been really well animated but they look quite simple. I would love a similar game but with real-looking fish and with more mature looking surroundings and harder games. But... that would be quite close to a real aquarium, wouldn't it?

I've played several match 3 games, and they've all been quite similar to this. I couldn't find any improvements. I found the gameplay, even though it looked very nice when you played, boring and monotonous. You only had the amount of money to look forward to, which you could spend on fish. If this game was a tad more educational than this, then I could give this game to a child. Otherwise I just find the gameplay and what you receive from it a waste of time.

I personally wouldn't buy this game, but if you have younger kids at home that like playing match 3 games, this is great. I also find the price on the Playrix webpage very misleading. This is worth $3.99 any day, but not $19.95...

It's a nice casual game you can play when you don't have anything to do, but there are better games than this to get addicted to. The gameplay style has been done to death, but the aquarium was a nice change for a game like this.

I wish I could say something more positive about this, but I guess I'm not the right audience, as I didn't like this game very much. But thank you, Playrix for offering this game on GGotD! :)

It looks like I finally found a game that I'd like (with lots of glowing reviews) and I would REALLY love to download this game, but I'm bummed I'm going to miss it this. I've been having major PC issues to the point that I purchased a new Windows program and next week (when it arrives) I'm going to wipe out my hard drive and install Windows again. Thus, it looks like I'm a bit too late to enjoy this game. I'd pay $3.99 but not the bundle or the stand alone price of $19.95 that #9 Elle said the real cost of it is. :(

I am hoping to see Aqua Bubble again (I think that was the name) that I enjoyed so much until I lost it as well awhile back.

Thanks for all the stuff you bring us! :)

I had this game when it was offered last fall,I enjoy match 3 games, and this one plays very nice. It's a fairly easy game,so it's good for the whole family, and the screensaver is good too,I like the idea of being able to add fish to it. I have several games from Playrix, and play them often due to their playability, the match 3 and hidden object games are my favorites and some of the better games they offer.

Whiterabbit, please don't promote the lie that PlayRix pushes as their pricing. This one is $19.99, not $3.99. They force you to buy an entire package to get any discount.

As I've mentioned in previous comments, I really feel this game is well worth $3.99, but not $19.99. I have it from the November download and I play it often, but it is highly overpriced.

.........................Moderator Comment..........................

I'm not promoting the cost of the game. That's the game giveaway site. Hopefully they will look into this when they read these comments. Perhaps if you were to contact Playrix and ask what it's being advertised here on the giveaway for $3.99, they would answer. I am surprised that they are still selling games at $19.99. That was the standard price for most arcade games three to four years ago, but since the recession we have seen a number of game sites that sell games for much less.

As for being overpriced, even at that price I think it's worth the money. I paid a lot more for text based adventures when I got my first computer way back in the mid 80's. We've been spoiled by cheap games over the last few years. I still marvel at most games having come from a time when such things were not available. When I got my first console, all it had was pong and a golf and cost me over $150, so the prices i see now are amazingly cheap. also it all depends upon the person as to what they think it's worth. Take Railworks for example. I bought the basic game about 18 months ago. It cost me $45. I then purchased some of the downloadable content for the game, which cost me another $45 since then i've continued to purchase downloadable content for that game and totalling up the cost of all the downloadable content and the game comes to around $1000. that's just for one game. Do I think it's worth it. Yes i do. I love sim games and this is one of the best you can get. amazing life like rolling stock and engines. $19.99 is nothing if the game gives pleasure IMO. You would spend more on a meal out in the UK. Then the pleasure would have gone. at least with a game you can play it over and over as many times as you want.

Downloaded without a problem using Window7 64bit. I'd downloaded this game last Novemeber(?) and had a problem with my computer, so lost it. I was thrilled that by downloading today it still had my level saved!! I love that there is a nice screensaver that gets better as the game progresses. It is your typical Match 3 in which you 'build' your own aquarium by gaining points that convert to $. You then use the $ to purchase fish and different accessories for the tank. I find this a delightful game and hope more Playrix Entertainment Games will be future offerings. Thanks GGOTD for this! I'd love to see some word games in the future offerings.

@ Nº. 17
Is it the "Failed to connect. Please try again later..." message?

I've run into this same problem at various times. I use Firefox browser. What worked every time for me was to open Internet Explorer browser control panel, not Firefox, and untick Work offline. Specifically, start Mi¢ro$o£t Internet Explorer, goto "File" (ALT+F), and near the bottom remove the "check mark" from Work offline.

BEFORE doing any of this, I always test my Internet connection with various sites because if you have a bad Internet connection, you WILL see the same failed to connect message!

Last week, GOTD stated that the "MS Internet Explorer engine" is used for the verification programme. Thus you must dig up M$ IE and fix it there.

I highly recommend being certain your Internet connection works whilst being certain every browser installed on your computer is set to work online, and NOT offline.

Cheers!

Thank you for the offer.

I enjoy match 3 games and this one is good. The graphics are very
appealing. I installed with no problems on an i5 laptop with Vista Biz.

I consider these games time wasters and that is not a negative.
I spend many hours up late at night with my sick kids and in the
doctors offices that having a game like this where you can play and
stop and then pick up again for a few more minutes is great.

The board seems smaller than other match 3's I've played but the
aquarium theme is relaxing.

Thank you again.

If it helps [don't mean to pry], if you have good backup archives but can't get them restored from a bootable disc/USB device, reboot.pro &/or 911CD.net have lots of good projects for bootable Windows on those devices, & I think some include Acronis to restore. Doing a quick Google on mounting a backup image came across this as well in case your luck takes a turn for the better http://goo.gl/91pXL [BTW fingers crossed it does]. Please feel free to e-mail if I might provide anything.

This is a great game. I've played both Fishdom & Fishdom Frosty Splash many times, and they really relax me.

I still have this game from last November and I AM STILL PLAYING IT! Very addicting combination. easy but can be difficult. I keep adding more & more fish, after maximizing each of the 3 tanks with stuff. Excellent for the Casual Game Lover!

Oh, I'm so glad to see this being given away again! I've been missing it since I got my new computer. This is a fun game and very compelling; I wasted a lot of hours playing it, but certainly enjoyed them all. Thanks to Playrix and GAOTD!

Having already downloaded this last time, I have had ample chance to play it, and have played it extensively. It's a very enjoyable game and I highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys match 3 games.
As you progress in the game, you can choose different tanks to decorate. Gaining access to the other tanks requires earning enough prize money to decorate your current tank to 100% in each of 3 categories. Once you have reached the 100%, you have access to another tank. Your tank is the background for the game, and also can be made as your screensaver.

Reboot your modem and/or router. If that doesn't work clear out your internet Cache and Temp folders. If that doesn't work check your firewall permissions.

Downloaded Frosty Fishdom when it was offered and I'm at level 1503 right now. Very addicting and the levels repeat after 100, but the harder ones are still a challenge. Like the idea of power-ups.
And bigger fish and plants. Thanks GGotd
