Deadly Race:
Installation:
Todays game is a 55.3Mb download that expands to 129Mb when installed. There is no shortcut installed to the desktop, or the Start menu so make a note of where it installs to. It tried to install to the last game giveaways location for me, but generally it may also install to:
C:\Games\DeadlyRace
Also there is no uninstaller, so if you decide the game isn’t for you, you can just delete the games folder as there’s no registration details stored in the registry.

The Game
There are 24 levels to work through . All levels apart from the first one are locked and can only be unlocked by attaining specific goals, usually winning at least a bronze award , but in later levels require you to have won all levels at at least silver. Thankfully you can return to any unlocked level to retry your luck. before you can play them. When you attain the required goal the next level will be unlocked, but to play it you must click on the level icon otherwise you’ll end up replaying the level you previously played. The 24 levels are divided up into four stages, with the first six levels requiring you to win the previous level to at least Bronze standard, the second six (levels 7 to 12 ) also requiring only Bronze, then from level 13 onwards you are required to have won all previous levels to at least silver.
Winning a level (Gold) or placing second (Silver) or third (Bronze) will give you cash winnings that can be used to purchase better vehicles such as the Firemaster (cost $3500), The Police Car ($3000), The Futuro ($2000), The Steamer ($2500) or the RoadLord ($4000) , also when you have the opportunity you can buy ammunition for your guns, rocket launcher and mine layer. Only one vehicle is available at the start of the game and it has the lowest ratings with respect to Armour, Acceleration and Speed..
Ammunition can also be picked up during play via bonuses. (In fact this is the easiest way of getting ammunition rather than spending your hard earned cash on it. These include ammo for your guns, rockets and mines as well as repair bonuses. In game tips are given at the beginning of a round. For example:
Until you get a faster vehicle your default one will seen a little slow compared to other vehicles, but it’s still possible to win levels by destroying as many vehicles as you can. At the end of the round each destroyed vehicle will be uses as a score multipler to decide how much cash you win for that race; the more vehicles you destroy, the higher your winnings.

Conclusion:
The game reminds me a lot of Death Track: Resurrection, though it’s not as polished as Deathtrack , and the weapons aren’t as hi tech, also the games AI isn’t as good (I’ve never won a race in Death Track because I’m always getting destroyed by the opponents wheras it seemed much easier to avoid getting destroyed in todays game giveaway. That said the game play is sound and looks reasonably well made. I’m a big fan of post apocalyptic games of any type and I love racing games; so to combine the two is brilliant. And for that reason I’d give this game a slightly inflated 7 out of 10. I say inflated because I’m biased . In reality when I compare it to the many racing games I already own it wouldn’t score beyond a 5.5 if that.
There is no facility to use a Steering Wheel or a Game pad with force feedback. However, the handling of the vehicle is okay considering there’s no force feedback that usually enables you to steer around any corner easily without having to constantly adjust your position when using keyboard arrow keys or WASD. I think adding the option to use a steering wheel or game pad as a control method would enhance the game play significantly; especially as some community members will probably be put off by the keyboard only control methods.

i.e. Follow the general posting rules that are posted elsewhere on the site. Constructive criticism of the game either positive or negative is welcomed. Please do not include any flaming or criticisms of other members posts, inappropriate language, or off topic subjects apart from suggestions for similar games (done for those who may miss today’s giveaway, or are unable to download or register the game for whatever reason), however phrases like ‘this game is rubbish‘ or ‘I don’t like this game should be qualified with an explanation and will be appreciated by the developers who come to see what the community think of their masterpieces. Comments not following these rules WILL be deleted.
The idea is to create a discussion that includes the pro’s and con’s of the game and hopefully will include suggestions that could improve the game or things that you feel need removing because they detract from the game.
Hopefully this may then draw in more developers who will see a reputable web site that’s got useful and constructive ideas that they may find useful. Only good can come from following the above simple rules. These rules will morph over the coming weeks to include anything that I may have missed.
If you wish to post anything else about the game you can do so in the game giveaway forums which have threads for this very purpose.
I would welcome input from the community on this issue, Please post over in the forums rather than here with your input:

At the moment I’m testing in Win XP and Vista, but do have a win 7 Pro disc to install. I’m waiting to buy a new HDD first though as I want to install my copy of Win 7 on a new drive. Once that’s done I’ll be able to test via 3 different OS’s
