Great game, nice graphics and sound, in all, GREAT GAME!!!
Action/Skill game, awesome levels with monsters, very tricky Boss monsters, Medium/Hard levels. the Mage is on a dragon(my favorite)
and the Witch on a unicorn. But one complaint:WHY CANT YOU GET OFF THE DRAGON/UNICORN!!!

The graphics are nice.
But the game is much to easy, i played more than 20 levels and didnt loose once.
Levels and enemies need more alternation!

For me this game was a total waste of download time.

For those having video issues, as the the program requirements state and others have said, you need to use OpenGL. Check your video card manufacturer's website for the latest drivers. The program isn't written very well; it uses excessive compute even when it isn't doing anything. I'm not sure which instructions people are asking about--the "h" key brings up help, "Esc" brings up the main menu.

Very nice game to play, but most of the levels look the same. And with only 35 levels it is way to short. I finished it the same day. :-(
The last levels are a little bit harder then the others. And it was the first time I lost a life (playing Normal). So I decided to concentrate more on avoiding then on targeting. And then it became easy.

Hi, 26,46 etc. I work for a Computer Store and I build my own computers. This may help you get that card you need to play this and other games. When it comes to the video cards most stores charge to install. However I don't know in what country you live and what are their practices. Just read some of the computer magazines first and check out reviews online, before you go to the stores. Then "listen" to the people talking in the store. Remember not everyone expressing their opinions no matter how many catch words, they use know any thing about the things. If someone is attempting push you into something by impressing you with their superior knowledge over yours, instead of getting just the right level for "your needs" smile and walk away until you find that person that really knows what they are doing, and cares about you. At the same time you will add to your knowledge and soon this will not be that mysterious. If you don't want to have it installed at a store trade favors with a friend to do it. Make it something you do well, that they don't. Choose the friend that works on or builds their own computer, and it "works", again not the one that talks the best game, while their computer is always goofy. Price will depend on the level, the store and where you live, but there are some very good ones at low prices.
Good Luck!

Thank you for giving us a game that's really different from what I have been playing before. Some here think it't too simple and all that, but I am only 9 1/2 and this is my first game like this that my mom is allowing me to play after she looked it over. I am interested in other games like the RPGs you guys mentioned as I get used to playing these. Thank you GOTD and 300AD for giving us this free game.
I can't wait until I am old enough to play Final Fantasy and have a Playstation!

This is one of the better ADULT games for months now.....keep up the good work GAOTD..maybe you should have archives of how to play these games...just a thought...hehehe...I tried to find website for the upgrade but alas...not happenin' for me. To those having trouble with the graphics, there is a setting in the game to switch from OpenGL support to Direct3D. Select "Options" from the main menu, and click the option to toggle between the two settings. My video card seem to work with the default setting, but not with the D3D setting, so your mileage may vary.

MAGAM and others: if you don't see monsters and only shadows, try to select OpenGL (and not D3D!) in Options. Then restart the game.

I really wanted to play this game, I have windows xp. I installed it and tried to play it but it would either open and let me play about 30 seconds and then pop an error message up saying it had encountered an error and have to shut down or it would open and then immediately close. SIGH!!!!!

Further comment to my comment (#29)

I´ve got a ASUS V9570 TD FX 5700 and i got the same problem as some others only seeing shadows, would strike me as very odd if my graphics card cant run this small game as it runs games like Tiberium Wars like a charm, ow well i guess i´ll just have to accept that this is one game i aint gonna be able to play, good thing i´ve got jets´n´guns, its also a very nice game indeed, btw i also tried the fireman game that was mentioned above, and that "lags" like ´ell

Well lets hope tomorrow brings more luck.

Hello,

#26 and #46. I believe that what you need is a 3d graphics accelerator card (usually called a graphics card), not a sound card. There are two main "types" of graphic cards, Nvidia and Radeon. Some people prefer one type, some the other but in the end they are pretty much the same.

There are lots of manufacturers that make graphic cards based on the two different types of graphic cards, like PNY, BFG, eVGA, ATI, ... so you will see Graphic card names like "ATI Radeon 9800 XT" as the name of the card. ATI is the type, Radeon the manufacturer and 9800 XT the model name. Don't worry too much about the model names and numbers, you usually get what you pay for.

Keep in mind that you don't need to spend a lot of money, my graphics card was $50 and it plays every 3-d game I have tried.

As for installations, don't try it on your own if you don't know how to. I am not sure, but I think outlets like Best Buy or Fry's electronics may install them for free. Just give them a call and see what they say. Keep in mind you cannot upgrade laptops.

If you bought your computer less than a year ago, it should be still under warranty. Call the company that manufactured your computer, like Dell or Gateway. You may also try calling the store where you bought it.

You can ask a computer savvy relative. Usually most people that know anything about computer hardware knows how to buy, install and configure a video card. If you lived in Phoenix I would do it myself for free. I have dome it dozens of time for friends and family. If you know what you are doing, it is actually pretty easy.

Another other choice is to go to one of them small (or big) computer outfits that fix computers. They will help you decide which one you want and do the installation of the graphics at a price. Get the yellow pages, look into computers repair, or something like that and start making calls. If the number you call can't help you, make sure you ask them if they know who can help you.

Tell them what you need and make sure to ask them how much they are going to charge before they even touch your computer. Get a quote! I am sad to say that, like in the car repair industry, there are "bad" people out there that take advantage of your lack of expertise of some and "fix" things that don't need fixing, you know what I mean.

Another alternative is to get a new computer. For $300 you can get something that will run any program and play any game. Go to Dell, Gateway, ... Get a hold of a sales 800 number and they will kiss your feet to make a sell.

I hope I didn't confuse more than before I wrote this message. If I did, I am sorry and maybe somebody else can explain it better.

Cheers,

-Mario

Hello everyone!

Imagine my surprise when I came here today and didn't find a screensaver! It is Saturday isn't it? ;)

The game downloaded, activated, installed and plays extremely well. My first reaction to the graphics was, "WoW! They are very professional and even beautiful with obvious attention to detail.

However, I found the movement of the unicorn quite jarring. I don't understand why some game developers have trouble with animation, heck it was one of the early techniques I learned when studying graphics manipulation - and believe me you don't need any magic potions or need to be a rocket scientist just to create animation - however, you do need a little knowhow, patience, attention to detail and a good animation program.

The options screen includes volume sliders for master, sound and music volumes and max/min window. There are surprisingly few options for a game of this caliber.

You also get a choice of a male/female hero as a persona in your game. However, unless you ever get to dismount the unicorn/dragon later in the game, you'll never see yourself anyway! So I'm not quite sure why you even get a choice.

There is a map which is supposed to show you where you are in the game, but I found it confusing, seemingly having several start points, but aside from that it's even confusing to see where you're actually up to. I think this part of the game could have been designed a lot better.

Once you exit the game it automatically saves your score and the level you're up to. I almost held my breath when I relaunched the game to check, hoping that this would be so.

It's not novel in that it already fits into the overhead shooter genre of games. The concept reminded me (a lot!) of one of my favorite games that I play often by Axysoft - Chroma-Ways, which was on GOTD some time ago.

(drum roll please!) AAANNNND -----> IT PLAYS WITH THE MOUSE! :) (Does her happy dance.)

Game Play: The game begins by explaining the power-ups and spells which are fresh and new - not just a rehash of power-ups from other similar games. You can also choose which runes to pick (gathered along the way,) to create great spells and mix them in your cauldron for use later.

This game is very enjoyable to play and doubly so for me because of the mouse controls. :)

The version we have is 1.03 - when I visited their website, they had a patch to bring it up to 1.04 - very cool!

The website also provides various forums, and I suggest you join if you're enjoying the game, because forums are always a wonderful resource, not only to report bugs, but to discuss game play with other players also.

Thank you 300AD for today's game - and THANK YOU for optioning the controls, so that the player can use their mouse! Oh, and another thank you for providing the patch free of charge to us, to bring it up to the current version. :)

I'd like to see this also as a dual-play game, where one person is the witch and the other the magician. It would bring added variety to the game. Of course the options screen would need to include a choice of one of two players. Just a thought for version 1.05. :)

I found it interesting (and extremely poor,) that I couldn't find choices for any other kind of controls, such as game pad or joystick. While I prefer mouse controls there are others who would prefer the alternative methods. Perhaps also a thought for 1.05. :)

I see other games on your website that I'm sure many of us would like to test and review for you, so perhaps in the near future, you might consider offering those here. (especially Fireman's Adventures! :)

Thanks go to GOTD in securing this great software house for us - the team is really outdoing themselves lately, not just with game software but also with their serious software site, where I'm constantly downloading also. ;)

How lucky can we possibly be? Two free software programs every single day of the week, saving yourself literally hundreds of dollars on games, system and application software.
