This has been a fun game. It runs well on Vista here and the puzzles are fun to solve. It was well worth the download. Thanks to Rake in Grass for the game.

Hi again ahmet,
It's no bother at all. Unfortunately you will need to remove the video card befor you can use the motherboards socket. When a graphic card is plugged into a socket on the motherboard (MoBo) it automatically switches off the one connected directly to the board. Once removed there's no need to put it back if you discover that the game does work okay with only the MoBo's chip, because your MoBo's graphic chip will cope with internet graphics.
I do hope you get the game to work as it is great. If not save the installed folder to a disk and reinstall it to your next computer because it's a standalone game which means you can copy it to any computer and it will still work as a full version. :)

Great game, works well on my system (XP SP3, 4 gigs ram, ATI x1950). No crashes. I like that you are able to skip around a bit in case a level is stumping you, though I've not had to use the feature yet. I don't like that when you are at the end of a chapter, it doesn't advance to the next. Also, the music makes me nauseous. Really, physically nauseous. I get that very rarely from certain games. With the music it's fine, so very happy that turning off the music is an option.
Altogether a definite keep.

A cute little game. I'm enjoying it & my boys love it.
Thanks Wrabbit (as always) & GGOTD,

Thanks again Whiterabbit.
I found the the monitor socket directly linked to the motherboard like you described(it has a monitor picture near it). I wonder if it's strictly necessary to remove the video card. Can't I just plug the monitor to the other socket without removing it? And if I remove it will it be ok to surf on the internet without it? If you don't know, just tell me I have to try and see for myself.
Sorry, I've been bothering you for long, but I just want to play this so much since the comments. Hope you see this post.

Thanks to Whiterabbit and all that gave me help for level 5. I finally figured it out myself. Also thanks to GGOTD for giving us these games. This one is a definite keeper. Also really liked the idea that the file wasn't massive like some others.

Certainly one of the best games that has been given here!
Nice clear graphics, excellent playability, really challenging levels, and the idea of the bubble is extremely original.
Two thumbs up!
There is only one thing that is missing: a level editor.

I've got to agree with you on that one Caroline; though I didn't lose any games because of IWin; just got a load oF rubbish installed to my hard drive "AND REGISTRY" that took some time to get rid of.
That's good news aeonic - that's windows for you lol
To Bunzelle,
I'd worry if others had reported the same, but no one else has , so its probably a false positive. My antivirus didn't flag up anything.
Debbie
look at the top of the level selection window where you see the name Brainiac's Mansion. You'll see two arrows one back and one forwards. Click on the forwards arrow and it will take you to the next group of 16 levels. The game is divided up into 8 chapters (which I mention in my first post comment #1
Have a great week everyone

Yikes! I almost missed this one. I read about it earlier and then got working and just remembered. Good thing it was a quick download. No problems on XP SP2. Looks like a Marioland type game which I will have to get into later if I am to keep my clients happy tomorrow :)
Thanks GGAOTD, I expect to have fun with this one.

This game played perfectly for me, but I played through the 16th level, and I don't see an option for any more levels. Is there suppose to be more levels in this game-give-away?

Great game, fun, really has me laughing - thank you. Couldn't get 1.5 or 2.8 to work. A keyboard shortcut for restart would be useful - how do I create one? Win 2000.
--------
Someone posted recently about game suppliers messing up their HD; my experience: beware IWIN. One game demo came with a Trojandropper; when I used their uninstaller to remove another demo, it wiped out EVERY game in my games folder (all goodies from GGAOTD).

Installed on and runs fine in high quality, full screen on a Vista Home Premium with 2.1 G processor, 1G Ram, 128 meg card. Old school graphics, but that's perfectly appropriate for this game, and that allows a lot of levels and still an impressively small program size. Pretty much a standalone. Installs a game storage folder in App. Data, but that's hardly unstandard or something to worry about. Played first 15 levels in Brainiac's Mansion and they were pretty easy, especially considering I sometimes struggle with platformers. Not very coordinated. But that isn't to say that I got through them all first time through! Or to imply that they weren't enjoyable. Really like how they set up the game mechanics so a jump control isn't needed. Some noticeable cleverness went into the attractive room and hazard design. Just goes to show a game doesn't have to be the last word in wow graphics or technical bells and whistles or be multi-multi-megs to be entertaining. A winner and a keeper.

This game is decent and has an interesting number of levels. Helps pass the time at the same time the animation is not bad. It doesnt offer 3d graphics or complicated gameplay but its not crappy and buggy so its good.

If NOT used in Full Screen mode with a Google sidebar on the desktop, the game causes a flickering on the part of the window that overlaps the sidebar. Changingto Full Screen mode or dragging the window clear of the sidebar stopped the flickering.
Great game giveaway. Installed and runs well on Windows XP, SP2, 2GB ram.

Ahmet,
You can pick up reasonable graphics cards cheap now due to the amazing growth of graphic cards over the last several years. Last years models are this years bargains. So to is System RAM. Both these essential items for playing games are cheap (unless you want cutting edge graphics cards.
My main three computers run the following graphics cards and I can still play all my DVD based games on all of them though the first one in the list does struggle with Crysis and GTA IV a little. I have most of the more recent games that require lots of memory and a good graphics card but the oldest card a NVidia 7900GS 256Mb card still copes with them and is quite cheap now. The other cards I use are a twin set of NVidia 8600 256Mb cards set up in SLI and a NVidia 8800GS 640Mb card. The 8600 GS card is also quite cheap and also supports DX10 if you were thinking of upgrading to Vista.
I was playing Medieval Total War the other day. I'd been inspired to play it because I will be getting Empire Total war this coming week. I think I'll reinstall Rome Total War as well because I've not played it for over three years.
The fact that you say you've been getting graphical glitches with other programs would almost certainly point to the graphics card. You can tell when it's virtually gone because you will start to get lots of white spots (or sometimes colored) even when you're just running windows.
Graphic card failure is often associated with oveheating and lack of cooling. I always ensure a good airflow through my computers and use those inserts that suck out air near the card bay as well as those that clamp directly onto hard drives. they are relatively cheap and can save a fortune in burnt out hardware.
If your computer isn't too old you may find that the onboard graphics chip will be enough to run this game. Try removing the graphics card and then pluging your monitor into the socket that you should find near the aidio sockets, (not the ones on your sound card but the ones that are integral with the motherboard.

Further to my earlier comments: THIS GAME IS SUPERB!!! Thanks SO much, GGOTD!
To #23, if it helps (and if you own one) I discovered that AA will respond to your Gamepad/Joypad as well as arrow keys and mouse! In my case, any button from 1 to 9 works as 'select' (also the 'bubble' button) and button 10 works as Escape (back to the menu, duplicates the button at bottom right of screen). Lovely! You can even use the joypad and keyboard in combination! Ideal for those trickier bubble moves on higher levels!)!
I don't know yet whether I'll refer to the 'bubble' as 'bubblegum' or 'Rover:' after the white 'hunter-killer balloons' in the TV show 'The Prisoner' (remember?). ;)
Anyway, suffice it to say that AA has wasted over five hours of my time today (!), and the 'how-to' videos posted by RiG on YouTube are brilliant—but obviously total spoilers!—if you get REALLY stuck on a level.
Definitely my favourite EVER GGOTD! I am one VERY happy bunny, and will likely check out some of the other RiG games. It would be wonderful if all GGOTDs were of this TOP-NOTCH quality, wouldn't it? This is DEFINITELY how it's supposed to be. And if you haven't got this yet, DON'T MISS IT! DOWNLOAD IT NOW!!!
Er… did I say THANK YOU GGOTD? (Yep, thought so!) :D

First I want to thank you for your helpful post.
Actually, I can't run Rome Total War for a while ,though I played it perfectly well without problems 1-2 months ago, due to the map not loading or weird diagonal lines flickering even if it loads and screen keep freezing and sound coming, going, pc crashing. And serious lag and spike in some other games. I thought it was because of my harddisk getting old or registry have been swollen with my installing and uninstalling programs. I'll still format my pc before getting a fan for my video card or replace it though.
As I had my internet connection last year, I installed some programs for protection against malwares from internet(I'm not running more than one av). Maybe my ram isn't enough anymore. I'd disabled most of the programs try to run at startup already though.
This convinced me to do sth with my computer soon. Thanks.

Have you defragged your drive/s recently. If your drive is badly defragmented it could explain why the game is running so slow. Also have you tried increasing your paging file? Finally is your drive nearly full? That also can impact on performance.
I'm sorry I won't be able to reply for a few hours to query's now as I have to do some homework with the children then get them to bed, then I plan to watch a film. Sorry if none of my suggestions work for you.

@ahmet
try changing settings in
%APPDATA%\Archibald's Adventures\game_config.txt
I'm guessing this has something to do
with this game in combination with your
graphical drivers.
I remember ones renaming the game.exe to 3dmark01.exe
on a laptop and it made an difference.
try renaming the archibald.exe to 3dmark01.exe
I know this one is far fetched
I hope it helps
