Whiterabbit-uk, Thanks WR. I've posted last evening comments with this facebook problem on each giveaway that I had this problem, and all "failed" to accept my "unacceptable" comment and giving also a sollution to the widget that GOTD Team broked intentionaly. I've send a message like you are saying using the contact form. And I am still curious how I am going to be able to add points to Zoom Player MAX contest, since none of the browsers are working for me.

This is the only giveaway website where the giveaway website team is throttling the access to the giveaways [instead of actualy stoping the farming of licenses], just like some ISPs are doing to their bandwidth services.

...........................................Moderator comment...................................

I don't know of anyone who actually received a Steam key. *I was able to complete both tasks last night, but my son wasn't able to, having the same issue as others with the F.B. task. He was able to sign into his Facebook account via the giveaway task, but the Facebook task remained unclaimed. As for my attempt, I didn't receive a Steam key after completing both tasks. I've checked my email several times and still no email, so i really don't know what is going on. I already have this game on both of my steam accounts, but still applied for a Steam key as i was going to add it to the list of Steam games I'm giving away to those who post decent feedback. (Still got to send out around 10 keys to various Community members, some of which have been waiting for ages.
I don't think the giveaway team are intentionally throttling the FB task. It's in the teams interest to make sure everyone who applies gets a key as they need as much support from the community as they can get. The more community members, the more likely we are to get better games as her will always be a percentage of the community who end up buying from the developers who have given away games previously (I always do). Have a great weekend. Saturdays game is excellent, especially if you like Breakouts. (games already live)
Same here for Zoom player. Up to Thursday I've been able to gain the extra 3 entries (total 15 , though I've not used the friends entries), but couldn't for yesterday becasue of the Facebook issue. As it stands at the moment with the number of entries made so far, if you have a similar number of entries i.e. 15 you stand just under a 1 in 3 chance of getting a key. If you don't win one and i do, you can have it as I won a lifetime upgrades to Zoom Player when they used to have that best three entries get a license widget a few years ago. I entered to give it to my daughter, but she's just told me she's not really that bothered about it, so I'll be giving it away if i win. If no one has received a key for Zombie Shooter 2 hopefully the team will rerun it when they realise no keys were taken (as far as I can ascertain from the comments left, no one seems to have received a key for the game)

Whiterabbit-uk, As II mentioned I did contact the GOTD team and got a reply with a key. Unfortunately, it was a duplicate key. However, if everyone had the FB problem I guess they had loads of requests so accidents happen :) (and yes, of course, I replied again to their mail with the issue so I just wait and see)

The Game:

The following review was written by Bkstunt_31 who was not impressed by the game. I personally have played this for over 3 hours and other Sigma games of a similar ilk (i.e. Zombie Shooter 1 and Alien Shooter 1 & 2 and Alien Shooter 2: Reloaded/Revisted and Vengeance as well as several others of this genre by other developers) and found them very playable. They are the type of game you play when wanting a break from the big AAA games, or just a coffee break from other more mundane work tasks. The game received an unofficial metacritic score of 70 (which is considered quite good) from two critics (you need a minimum of three review and scores from the critics for the score to be official) and a score of 6.5 from user reviews, though the scoring is biased due to a few giving it very low scores; whereas, the average score was quite high. The reviews from Metacritic can be seen here HERE

Most do not support the review I've posted below which is in my opinion very negatively biased. I've left a few comments (in parenthasis) in some of the paragraphs just to negate the obvious dislike of this game by the author. I couldn't find any other reviews with the time I have at the moment, so decided despite not agreeing with what the author said, to post it here becasue he/she does give a reasonable account of the game despite its negativity. I've also posted a few videos and several in game screen captures (some my own, some taken from the net) so that you can see what the game is like. There is a demo of the game available on Steam, so, if you aren't sure whether you want the game, check the demo out first.

Zombie Shooter delivers just what it says it will: you'll be shooting lots and lots of zombies. No surprise, right? So, does the game even have a story? Well... yes and no. First of all, you choose a character to play as out of a pool of about 8 pre-built characters. Each character has a bio and a back-story, as well as their own strengths and weaknesses. And that's without a doubt the best thing I can say about this game story-wise. From there you are basically thrown into the middle of nowhere and contacted by an NPC to come meet up with him. After that, you'll start your journey to an unknown city (because THAT'S where you want to go during a zombie apocalypse!), helping out military outposts along the way. However, the game's PLOT (or really, script) is like its written by a third-grader! You'll be wished luck in finding your sister in one mission, and three missions later someone will wish you luck on finding your wife! What the heck!? Oh, and even if you are currently playing a FEMALE character, they will still wish you luck on finding your wife. Hey, I guess Sigma-Team isn't opposed to that sort of thing!(moderator comment, bear in mind this is a low buget game)

The story just gets worse from there. Near the end you'll be shown an antagonist who acts like he knows you and you know him... and its the first time you've ever met him! Granted, the game is Zombie Shooter TWO, and god knows if this guy appeared in the first Zombie Shooter, but it comes off as... unplanned and cheesy. Speaking of cheesy, I suppose its entirely possible that the game is supposed to be modeled after the cliche "B Horror Movie" genre, but if it is they failed miserably in their goal. In the end, the utter lack of any form of a coherent plot is evident, and if you can play the game without thinking about the story you'll be able to stomach the game much better.

Ok, enough about the story, how's the game play! As a survivor in a zombie apocalypse, you'll be armed with a pistol upon starting the game. You control your player with the standard "WASD" control scheme and shoot with the mouse. As you play, you'll find ammo, money, guns, and various items to help you out. There are also shops in just about every mission where you can spend your money and buy bigger and better guns, armor, health, and items. PLUS, they throw in RPG mechanics as you have 5-6 stats that each control something (such as health, accuracy, etc) that you can level up, as you gain levels by defeating the legions of the undead. You control your character and explore maps while progressing through a series of missions.

Killing zombies is fun... there's no denying that. And there's a LOT of ways to do it as there are a LOT of weapons to choose from (sorted into small, medium, and heavy weapon types). Some levels also feature tanks and other control-able vehicles for you to use, which is always fun, but starting in mission 8 or so the game REALLY starts spiking in difficulty, draining the fun out of playing it FAST if you aren't completely on top of your game (have the best available guns). Other than that... unnecessary fact, the game play is fairly average. Many skills you can pick are better than others, which seems to be a result of poor planning, and you could say the same thing about the weapons in the game but its your choice what you bring into combat.

The graphics in the game are probably what makes the game stand out. In it's default setup (as you can change several filters to your liking) the game is in black and white. Well, almost, your character, NPC's, items lying around the world and most importantly: the blood, are all in color, giving the game a stark contrast. However, I happen to have my BIGGEST complaint about the game when it comes to the graphics: they are broken. The game REGULARLY (and I mean ALL the time) glitches out on you, often displaying the background as... weird distorted rectangles. This also happens to completely distort whatever is SUPPOSED to be there, leaving you to guess what is REALLY there. (moderator comment, really, I never had any problems like described by the author of this review. Sounds like his/her (the author is possibly female due to the characters picked were all female) graphic card is on the way out from the way they describes the graphic issues. I've had several cards go on me over the years I've owned gaming rigs and what is descibed sounds exactly like a card issue and not a game issue)

Another thing that will make you pull your hair out is that if you move your character between almost ANY narrow object in the world, there's a chance you'll get stuck and have to restart the level. Other minor complaints I have against the game include the fact that all female characters look like each other (I don't know about the male characters) and just how plain goofy the character animations are (the main character's entire upper body looks locked in place while they run). The zombies and enemies in the game look like they are designed well, and the weapons and armor look well done, but it's all not nearly enough to fix the what's broken. (note from moderator, these compplaints are so petty, I'm laughing, really this is a very low budget game that costs around the same price as a cup of decent coffee from a coffee shop, so you wouldn't expect superior graphics).

The game's soundtrack is rather... odd as well. It's quiet for the most part until the shooting starts, then it breaks into some music that you'd expect to hear at a nightclub: very fast techno beats. An interesting music choice for sure. It's not bad, it's just different. Some sort of mood music would be nice though. However, the VOICE ACTING in the game is just godawful. There's literally no other way to describe it. It's as if they just pulled random people into the studio, gave them a script (which, as we've established, probably was written with crayons) and had them read. The actors sound bored, have no sense of timing, and generally just drag the game down in a major way.

The game itself is pretty short (if you can overcome the difficulty spike that is) but does have some inherent re-playability due to the different perks you can select and the ways you can choose to level up. The real question is if you even want to play through the glitch-y campaign again (note from moderator, I've played this game for over 3 hours and haven't come agross any serious glitches. There are a couple I found such as not being able to see inside buildings, but they were minor issues that did not stop game play). You can also choose to play two separate modes from the main menu: one where you are alone in a field with waves of zombies (a survival mode) and another where you control a turret and fend off waves of zombies (you get to upgrade stuff in this mode, similar to a tower defense game). So there's SOME re-playability here... if you want it.

Like everyone else, the Facebook link isn't working. This is a first for me here, I've never encountered this on your site before & judging from the comments I'm not the only one! I'm using Firefox but your button isn't working, PERIOD!!!

Hi Ron

It was working for me last night (though I never received a key). When I tried to update my Zoom Player Pro entry earlier this morning, the Facebook task wouldn't work at all . It would open up to Facebook and I was able to like, but it wouldn't register on the giveaway FB task. Looks like it is broken at the moment. Hopefully the giveaway team will rerun, but don't quote me on that. Use the contact form HERE

I think the giveaway team have implemented some sort of security to cut down on farming. I was unable to sign into FB using Firefox, Waterfox and I.E. but was able to signing in to Chrome, however, I still didn't get a key. (I already have the game so was going to give it away. Actually I have several keys as there were several Shooter games included in an Otakumaker bundle several months ago and I bought into a 10 key deal i.e. 10 keys for each game (building up the collection of spare keys for the site. by the way, not been able to sign into the review site???? If you don't have this game I'll give you a key later. Let me know via Steam (I've not been online much recently. Trying to cut down on buying games plus both my children are approaching important exams so much of my time is spent helping them with their revision. Gaming has had to take second place. :) The only game I've played recently is the latest Flatout game, which is brilliant (apart from th game giveaways I've been reviewing). Hope all's well with you?

Although I'm performing the two tasks I always get a message box saying "Error". I've tried logging in using Facebook, Gmail, Twitter. And that's happening since a month or two in previous giveaways using similar widget. Before that I've never had that problem.

Looks like steam is a requirement to play this, look at the url above right. Why isn't that listed in the requirements? It would have saved me some time if that had been made clear to begin with. Thanks.

FB button still broken. How hard can it be to fix it? If you don't know or won't bother with it then can't you just ask for help somewhere on the internet?

I'm getting tired of reporting the same error, even on facebook itself there's other people with the same issue. Come on people, make us a solid, would you please?

Whiterabbit-uk, Nope, same thing, click click click nothing happens.
I've tried with Firefox, Waterfox, Google Chrome, SlimJet(chrome), Opera, Vivaldi, nothing works, this is their fault and none wants to aknowledge/fix it.

I'll show you in this screenshot:

if you click on script 399 then goes here

I'm no programmer but clearly there's a coding error.

Every giveaway is the SAME THING and they (more preciscely voluntary moderators) keep telling me it's me. How can it be only me when there's several browsers and several people with the exact same problem?
Then they don't like it if I get mad! why lie then?
I guess it's even worse for those that somehow DON'T get the error and successfully complete all tasks (how many are there, then? I never got to pass the 2nd FB one) and then they never get the steam key in their email account. HAHA Talking about bad programming huh?

ps but the captcha that gives them a few cents each click it does work! Marvelous!

Julia, Hi again, you'll find virtually every community member will have their computers set up differently, with different background programs, different security and different settings. Thousands of community members have no problems with these giveaways. I rarely have a problem. Only 0.01% of the community ever bother to comment, so those several community members although it may seem that lots are having the same issue, it's actually a minuscule number, so the most likely explanation is that it is your computer that is the problem. If the download was the problem thousands of community members would be having the same issue, but as i said, only a very tiny proportion of the community are having this problem. It's most likely a conflict with other programs you are running, but it may also be the way you have your computer set up. I would suggest trying to isolate the program that may be causing the problem, by turning off background programs individually and try installing the game after each closure to try and find which program is causing the issue. you could also try Game Booster, which automatically turns off all windows system programs that are not required to play games. If it's a system program, then turning on Game Booster (just takes a single mouse click, to turn on and off), and you can also configure it to turn off non Windows programs for example giveaways that add to the start up. You can get Game booster free HERE You could also try running the event log immediately after a failed attempt to see if any errors are recorded. .

Whiterabbit-uk, " so the most likely explanation is that it is your computer that is the problem."
No, just don't! I've said someone would claim it's me, but it isn't. I'm not using addons, javascript is on and there are no blockers, everything is default and I only have this problem with giveawayoftheday, how come after all the screenshots and my reports you still think it's me?

Download?! I'm not trying to download anything! Haven't you not read what I wrote? the screenshots I've posted? it's the damn FB link it isn't working! the very darned 2nd task this hideous site asks in return of a -never-to-be-delivered-steamkey! Jesus!
You don't need any special software to click a damn button (being logged in facebook or not doens't seem to make a difference) it's just shoddy coding! no amount of other programs would save this, there's nothing interfering with the click of a button, am I not being crystal clear?

You know what? fine I'm done. IF this is what you want, me against this site, fine, be that way, I'm sure I'll have more fun sharing how lame the whole thing is and how little this site cares about "a minority" because I'm sure as hell you can't possibly know all the users from all over to claim it's only a few poor souls to present the issue. Denial, great, thanks for wasting my time.

I'm not about to install "Game Booster" or any other crap because of lousy coding. Howcome Gleam and the multiple other sites they all work? they all use social network sharing stuff and this is the only one giving problems.

C'mon it's not like GotD is giving Witcher 3 or Doom, eh?

Wish granted, whiterabbit from UK, nor only I'm not coming back here but telling everyone in my social circle to stay well away from this, it just doesn't worth the trouble.

Have a good one!

Julia,

Hi again Julia, Sorry you feel that way, there realy is no need to be so angry over something that is being given away free, and all I was trying to do was help by making suggestions based on my experience over the last 10 years of moderating this site. If you think about it logically, if there was a problem with Facebook via this site then no one would be able to get any games that require that task to be completed. The fact that some are able to, implies that the problem is not from the giveaway site. All I can do is make suggestions. In no way am I trying to be condescending. all I've ever tried to do is be a helpful moderator. I started moderating as a thank you to the giveaway team for giving away so many fantastic games in the early days of this project, then it was the fantastic community that kept me coming back.

I can sign into Facebook using Chrome, but it won't let me using any other browser, instead I get an error message that implies its being blocked. I think that the giveaway team have included security to stop users from farming games becasue following the early Steam giveaways where it became evident that some community members were applying for multiple keys with a view to selling them, the giveaway team implemented various security measures, including using different emails and trying to use different browsers with the same FB account, and using different F.B. accounts from the same IP as well as other measures. This has lead to various issues, but overall, most community members are still able to get free games via this site. As I said everyone computer will be set up differently so the potential for conflicts is quite high.

Finally I would like to say sorry you feel you have to leave the community, I hope you have managed to get some games via the game giveawayoftheday that you've enjoyed playing over the years that this site has operated. Sadly times have changed. The gaming industry is actually in crisis, it has been since the financial crisis of 2008. Many small developers have gone bust as well as some of the larger AAA developers and loads of distributors such as Reflexive Arcade have disappeared. Since the giveaway site started in 2006, games have come down in price significantly, you'll find game sales virtually all the time on all of the major distributors, , indie game bundles are now two a penny (at this time there are over 60 bundles with discounts averaging over 90% off ) and there are lots of free games sites (that usually include adware), but are generally safe to install, so it has become very hard to find developers willing to give away thousands of games away. That's one of the reasons the site has included all of these extra steps such as Facebook, Twitter, using Steam etc. the more people who are aware of the game giveaway site, the more chance we have of getting free games, the reason, there are always a small percentage of community members who end up purchasing other games from developers who have been generous enough to give away games. The more people who get the free games, the more who buy, so the developer ends up making a profit. Good bye.

I checked ALL of my emails, including spam folders, along with the one specific for GOTD, and no key. Is anyone else having this problem for this giveaway? Thanks

P.S. First time this has happened to me. I know it is an ongoing problem with other GOTD offers for others.

(Checked Twitter, GOTD, Facebook, and other emails used in the past for all three of those.)

Whiterabbit-uk, thank you, but it was easier to simply undo the tasks and move on. (If I had paid for the game, and did not get it, it would be different.) :)

By the way, thank you for all you do to help folks around here. I always look forward to your reviews and updates on who is giving what away for free.
