Zombie Murder Hell Arrives

In Brief

A top down Arena Shooter. This does not require a key to install and register, but must be installed before the giveaway is over. It is not a Steam version of the game. If you want the Steam version (£2.99), i've linked to the Steam page below.

Installation:

Zombie Murder Hell Arrives downloads to a 68.3 MB zip file that unzips to three files, (a setup.gcd security wrapper, the set-up file and a read me). Those with multiple hard drives can save games on any drive they wish. The newly installed game is 64.8 MB in size. The game installs to the following path by default, but can be changed by the user if you prefer:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Zombie Murder Hell Arrives

Four shortcuts are installed to the desktop; three of which can be safely deleted (Play Online Games, MyPlayCity Games and shortcuts to a free online game which vary each week). Also, if you don't like icons installed to the quick launch task bar, make sure you uncheck the box when the additional tasks window appears (after the Select Start Menu Folder window)

Introduction:

Command two robots with their own shooting methods. Choose which one to control, using different parameters and super attacks. Shooting monsters will help you upgrade your robot of choice. Face a giant boss at the end of each scene!

They lay peacefully on the ground, riddled with bullets oozing blood onto the dry soil. The smell of fresh blood brings them back to life…sort of. Behold the zombie, and their weapon is hunger. Tearing through the death and decay, they aim to rip off your head and drink your blood. Sequel of bloody shooter Zombie Murder.

The Game:

I totally forgot that this was going to be given away, so my usual review will be rather short. I've only just downloaded the game (late afternoon on Wednesday, two days late) and played it for a few moments to see if it was worth keeping. :). I used to love these arena shooters; so, will definitely be keeping this one. The graphics are a little retro, but I like them that way. You have a choice of two different robots when you first boot up the game. The initial boss level can be quite challenging, but once you've passed that first introductory level the game does become a little easier, (at least for the next several levels). I died a couple of times before finally killing the first boss by circling it with continued fire and moving slightly to pick up different weapon types. Basically, the main gist of the game is you being attacked by hordes of zombies, initially unarmed, but as you progress they become harder to kill and are armed with such weapons as chainsaws. (I didn't get any further in the limited amount of time I had to try this game out, and can't say what other weapons they will be armed with later). You can move around the arena using the WASD keys and pick up various weapons such as lasers, bullets, and other more exotic weapons, plus speed ups and extra lives. I've not played the game long enough to post a full review but will try to expand on my description later. I'm a little busy for most of the day, so can't promise a full review.

If you like shooters of any description and especially top-down arena shooters, I'd say download this game.

Simply click on the giveaway download button which gives you the usual zipped file. Unzipping that gives you the usual wrapped executable with Themida protection, so some community members may have problems with their security blocking the installation. Read the readme for help on that matter. Once installed you can delete the giveaway files.

The music is rather limited to heavy/death metal background music, so if you find such music either oppressive, or just plain rubbish, you can turn the music down and play your own. It does however fit with the theme of the game.

Problems getting the game to work:

If you're having problems installing or activating or getting Zombie Murder Hell Arrives to work please visit the FAQ's Thread HERE and read through the communities comments because sometimes fixes have already been posted, for example, a common issue seen since the Themida wrapper was introduced three years ago is that some community members installation of the game are blocked by their security because Themida code has been known to hide malware, (usually an error message is flagged for example 'The executable is corrupted' even though in reality it is not); so as a precaution some anti malware programs will block and even delete the suspect installation files even though the files (i.e. the setup, read me and setup.gcd files are actually totally free from malware. This issue can be solved either by rebooting your computer in safe mode with networking or a quicker method is to temporarily turn off your security software to allow the installation. You could also try whitelisting the setup.gcd file. In the almost 11 years this game giveaway site has been operating there has 'never' been a game given away that was infected with malware.
