Can only download it as demo , need to pay to activate full game. Deleted and tried to download 3x

Today's game isn't the usual dual setup and activation module. you need to read the 'READ ME' file that comes packaged with the game. (I mentioned this in the review at comment #1). Did you check the read me? There's a registration code available. It also works using the downloadable demo from Terminal studios site (though it's a Playrix game)

What's up with not letting us on the west side of the USA download this???? Why send a notice about it if it's no longer available??? I am NOT on east coast time but on mountain time and it is only 11pm here...I thought we had until midnight!!!! This makes me angry...when I try to download something that is supposed to be downloadable and cannot do it, it doesn't say anything good about your site or your program. Granted, it's just a silly game, but if it does it for this what will it do for any other program you offer? I doubt that I will come back to try to download anything else if this is how I'm treated...

These games are given away for totally for free; so once is a while something goes wrong and you're saying you may not bother to visit again. I very much doubt that will happen, especially when these games are being given away for free. However, if you do stick by what you say.......... your loss.

I'm not typically very entertained by this style of game, but I actually like this one. I think it's just the art style, honestly. It's charming and nicely done. It's still not a game I'd play for hours, but it's nice for a few levels here and there.

Gameplay's actually somewhat interesting as well. Instead of shooting the standard circle-shaped object, the player now has to deal with the zombie's limbs flopping around - sometimes a hindrance, sometimes helpful. It's a nice little change to an overdone genre.

The level design is pretty well done. There are some interesting (although easy) puzzles to overcome. Also, having the level end by knocking an orange offscreen feels like it's less stressful than having a level end after a set number of shots. It seems to help keep the game feeling fun and matches overall happy/cute feel of the game.

Suggestions:

-Have a real fullscreen option. Although it might not look as nice stretched to a larger size, it's still better than having a small square in the middle of a black window.

-Perhaps add a short story or introduction. It could add some purpose to the game.

-Add more music tracks for a little variety.

-Have the walkthrough somewhere in the game itself instead of online, if at all possible. Since the video file is bound to be too large to include with such a tiny game, perhaps find another way to help the players? (Screenshots? Have the cursor move itself to the proper place when the player clicks a help button?) I'm not completely sure what to suggest for an alternative, but I'm sure a lot of players would appreciate having the help system built into the game itself.

Thanks GGAOTD and Wheemplay! I'll be playing this in between my other games.

The same old stuff as the rabbit launcher. Nice game but the same problem as rabbit launcher if maximized the aim / the power of the cannon is not increased. Nice game for children's.

For some unknown reason today's game has ended four hours earlier than usual. There will be another game posted at the usual time - 12 midnight PST (8am GMT).

Hopefully the giveaway team will extend today's giveaway for the four hours that will be missed, but that's not guaranteed.

Good to hear that the game is bad. Because now that I was about to download it the file server gives a "404 Not Found". Even the Mac version is gone.

Not everyone thinks it's bad. It's playable.

BTW the time says 3 hours 24 minutes now and it's only 7:35 pm. Usually the giveaway is over at 3am here.

Aww, this is the perfect giveaway for Halloween. Zombies and NOT oranges, you guys... Has to be pumpkins(they need to spatter more.). I love shooting those zombies out of the cannon. I got the log ones..YEAH! I hope there is brains at the end of the game for them or they are gonna be really PO'd.

The kids are gonna love this game since they have been having fun playing these games I got in a newsletter...5 Awesome Games Like Angry Birds When You Can’t Get Enough - http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/5-awesome-games-angry-birds/

Thanks to Wheemplay and GGOTD for the "over the top cuteness" game and thanks to that Wrascally Wabbit for his review.

Simple fun. Thanks, I'll keep it. It installed with no problems on an Dell Win XP. I agree that music and sound effects should be separate. I also think the Walk through link should be a small button so you don't keep hitting it when you are aiming low (level 13). And, of course, brainzzzz! You should tie this game with the educational program launched by the Center for Disease Control warning us about the Zombie Apocalypse! Check it out at http://www.bt.cdc.gov/socialmedia/zombies_blog.asp

This is Rabbit launcher except with zombies. I already have rabbit launcher so I will not even bother with this game.

To those saying this is an "angry birds clone" you are wrong. This is a cannon game clone. Also angry birds was not the first game where you shoot projectiles to knock stuff down, so if anything angry birds is also a "clone"

That's true. The one I remember way back before windows was the norm; where a gorilla threw exploding bananas at another gorilla over a city scape. You had to get the trajectory rght. Can't remember there being a strngth setting though

YAY!!!! another game that works for me. It almost doesn't matter anymore what the game is as long as it works. I don't always have that luxury.

It's a fun little game. Works great. I wouldn't change a thing. It is a quick little time passer when you have just a minute or two. Does what it is supposed to do. Pass the time without much thinking.

Thanks for offering this today.

Ok Win 7 x64 Ultimate SP1. Just 1 executable. Cute little time waster that does enough. As mentioned neat that can fire away w/o waiting for a fresh shot. Thus can bang away at a log forcing it from the targets. Thanks guys. Hope Sunday brings some more small joy.

I played it for about 15 minutes- a typical Wheemplay timefiller. I agree with the posts about the fixed small (on my 1920X1200 desktop) window and the oranges that should be brains. Win 7 Pro X64.

This game is OK, but as others have pointed out, it is a not-so-great knock-off of a very popular franchise - Angry Birds. Nothing wrong with that. I found it to be mildly entertaining, not really worth more than $0.99, but at that price it is hard to go too wrong. And free today, of course, is great. After about 10 minutes I got bored with it, but my guess is that if I leave it on my PC, at some point I'll come back for another 5-10 minutes of fun here and there. Again, about what I'd expect for $0.99.

My comments on how to improve it:
1. Make it playable in a full screen mode, as opposed to a fixed-size window.
2. Add an indication to the level map for each level as to how close to "perfect" I scored, so that I can (if I want to) go back to those levels where I did not do particularly well and try to improve upon my previous "best".
3. And finally, a better installer that would put the file into its own sub-directory and create a shortcut on the desktop would have made the installer feel about more "professional"

Don't zombies want brains? how hard is it to make brains instead of oranges? The Andry Birds clones aren't as annoying as the "Hidden Object" clones but they are getting there.

Make it zombies, brains, halloween feel and then re-release it and I'll play (for a while).

BRAINS...GOOOOD!

1) It looks like a free flash game. I guess it's indeed "executabled" flash game.
2) No full screen mode.
3) You can't turn off annoying music without turning sound effects off. This is most annoying "feature" for me.

A couple of weeks ago I criticized the game "Bee Adventure" for being cute, but lacking in whimsy. "Zombie Launcher" is a good example of the Whimsy/Cutesy combination I was referencing.

This has a few interesting bits;

1) I like the ability to fire again without waiting for the first shot to finish. The ability to cancel your blatant misfires is therapeutic in my view.

2) The idea that you get many shots per puzzle vs. The "random" factor of a limb flailing Zombie has on the result of your shots.

It is annoying feeling that you had the right arc, but failed on a tight shot due to a leg grabbing and edge of a wall. But the fact that you can take many shots nullifies the annoyance factor.

3) The lack of a "Power" option when launching. Calculating Arc and Power tends to turn these game into something only sliderule fans can appreciate. That would nullify the whimsical aspect of this game.

One the technical side of things, it installed and runs great on Vista64. Which is more than I can say for Firefox 7, but I will rant about that on another site. :) (But seriously, if anybody can tell me how to fix the speed I would appreciate it. We are talking 3-5 seconds to load pages).

I was a bit put off by the lack of a Fullscreen option. But even this made me think that maybe small game makers should look at Shareware distribution again with Fullscreen Mode as one of the purchasing benefits.

I found this to be a pleasant experience, It is not brilliant, nor is this my kind of game. I believe there can be something good to take when people who are not into something, say that it is "not bad" or "kinda amusing".

Not true Stephan, there's a 50:50 split at the moment. Downloads are down on the usual numbers at just under 2000 downloads, but there are also more favorable comments than negative, so some are playing this game. It's not a game I'd play for more than sevral minutes at a time, but it will pass the odd moment. It's a keeper for me.

The graphics, background music and simple controls make today's game likable. However, the projectile's random-ish path was somewhat of a hit-or-miss affair, which prompted me to take a break after completing the 16th level. All in all, a thumbs up from me.

Is it just me, or are Angry Birds clones the new match-3? This is starting to remind me of when the original Bejeweled was released. Seemed like almost overnight there were literally dozens of imitations - some good, some not-so-much - on the market.

...................Moderator comment...................

This happens with all genres of game. You get one original game and everyone jumps on the band wagon. Same in all walks of life. The best of this genre in my opinion is the freeware game Scorched Earth/Scorched 3D which you can find via the following link:

Doesn't work under Win7 X64 SP1. After the Wheemplay logo, the screen is black with a blue mouse cursor. Nothing else.

Other Wheemplay games work as expected, so I guess it's a bug in this one.

Loaded no prob. Win 7 Utlm.

Frankly, I don't understand how wheemplay can take such a lousy game and actually make it kinda fun, kinda. I played about 25 boards and got tired of it though. I enjoy the physics of projectile games, but this one was pretty inconsistant, something you depend on to make your next shot better. I guess I'm used to that avien game that's similar to this where you don't have wings flopping around like dead limbs. Some of the shots are just blind luck, or I couldn't figure out the stratigic point to aim.

Getting rid of the view tutitorial button would be nice too. I kept hitting it and opening up a youtube page.
Would have been better if the screen view got bigger too.

It also needed a story line. Why am I stuffing corpses into a cannon and shooting those happy orange balls?

Not one of Wheemplays better games but fun for ...a moment...IMHO not a keeper.THX to all!

...................Moderator comment...................

Thank you for your feedback spe. that's true about the walkthrough button. also not being able to expand the actual game play window is a little annoying. When you maximise the games window from windowed mode if you stray out into the large black area you can't aim or launch your zombie.

Developers rely on good feedback to improve their games. If you download this game please take some time once you’ve played it a while to leave some constructive feedback either positive or negative. The more constructive feedback we get, the more likely developers are going to give more games away. The giveaway site already has a very good standing with the search engines. Developers want their products out there on the WWW, this site has the potential to do that. The game giveaway project gives away on average between 9 to 17 thousand downloads for each game depending upon what genre and how obscure the game is. That’s a lot of homes these games are being downloaded into and a lot of 'potential' cash that’s being lost by the developers. If we get better games because of better feedback, the community are likely to continue to benefit from the generosity of the developers. Satisfied community members are then more likely to visit the home sites of those developers and purchase games that they may not have bothered with before they discovered the developer via the game giveaway site, thus giving the developers more incentives to give away even more decent games.

Please leave some feedback once you’ve checked the game out. It can be positive or negative, but please explain why your reasons for the feedback you post. You could also leave suggestions for improving the game, for example, this game could do with more block types for the levels editor, add more power-ups, describing the ones you think would be suitable, add some mini games (which seem all the rage in some arcade games now) or enable the user to be able to change the in game music easily.

Thank you in advance to all those who take the time to post a constructive comment.

Regards

Whiterabbit aka Stephen

Problems installing, activating and running today’s game:l>

If you have difficulty downloading or activating the game you can try again later or do one of the following - for example once downloaded when you click on the dual activation and set up file you may get the message “Failed to connect. Please try again later” Check to see if your internet explorer isn't offline (thanks to MrSnoozles/Mike and GMMan for that fix). If the previous suggestion doesn't work go check out previous comments from the last several weeks and look for comments from GMMan and Mike. They have also posted their possible fixes for this problem.

Mike suggests that you check to see if Internet Explorer is offline (even if you use firefox). If it is make sure that it's online thn try again. I’ve always tried re-booting my modem and/or router with some success, though Mike has said that doing that does nothing. Still, it’s worth a try if all else fails.

Other fixes include changing your screen resolution, installing the latest direct X (remember thta XP uses DX 9 or earlier only, Vista uses DX 10 or before and Win 7 DX11 or before). Also try updating your graphics drivers. The main two chip manufacturers are NVIDIA and ATI both of which offer driver downloads for free. Just go to the respective manufactures home page and you'll find a link to the driver download page. To find out which graphic card or graphics chip your computer uses type in dxdiag in the search field (Vista or Win 7) or the run command (XP); this opens up the DirectX diagnostics panel. click on the display tab and look to the left panel. You should easily see what graphics card or chip you are using. (This is required information when selecting the correct download from the developers site).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Installationl>

The download size is 11MB which when installed is 10.2MB. The game unpacks to a dual setup and activation module and a read me file. There is no activation code required as it is automatically activated via the dual activation/setup module. The default installation path is:

C:\Games\

The games executable is installed directly into the games folder with no folder. There is no shortcut installed or a start menu shortcut. If you're not sure how to create the latter, there's a short tutorial available in the game discussion forums. You'll find it easily as it's in the stickies on the front page of the gaming forum.

The game works on Win XP Pro 32 bit, Vista Home Premium 64 bit and Home Basic 32 bit and Win 7 Pro and Ultimate 64 bit. (these are just the iterations that I personally have, the game should work on all versions) . to delete the game just remove the executable to the recycle bin. (There's no uninstaller).

Introductionl>

Use a cannon to shoot your zombie, gather oranges, cope with physics-based obstacles, have fun! Full Description: Launch floppy zombies from your cannon so that they hit the oranges. The fewer the shots and the less time you take to collect all of the oranges, the higher the score.

reference accessed HERE 30th Sept 2011

The Gamel>

This is similar to two previous Wheemplay games (Rabbit Launcher and Pirate Times) where you have to launch an object, in this case a zombie at cutie looking balls with faces. The game is very simple. All you have to do is to click on the games play area in such a way you launch your zombie at the cutesy balls. Placing the mouse cursor further away from the cannon adds force to the shot. This will be necessary for some shots where you have to remove barriers or shoot over large obstacles.

PicDepict.com
PicDepict.com

The game comprises 42 levels. Once you’ve unlocked a level you can replay it at any time or reset the level progress so that you start from the beginning again. There are online versions of the game available HERE and HERE so you can check whether you think the game is worth installing. The latter link is a walkthrough of the complete game which lasts for around 10 minutes.

The game starts in windowed mode, but you can maximize the window if you wish; however the actual paly area still remains the same size as the windowed mode. To close the game just click on the X to the top right of the window. You can reset the game via the reset button located to the bottom left next to the pause button. You can also return the the level map from the same location. There's a music toggle to turn off that appalling background music.

Conclusionl>

As with the previous versions of the game (Rabbit Launcher and Pirate Times), the game play is very basic and easy. There is some skill involved once you’ve passed the first several levels, well more like judgment than skill), but even a child could manage this game easily, if fact they would probably prefer this to most adults due to the cartoony graphics. It’s not got a lot of game play but IMO is a nice addition to the type of game you would only want to play for a few moments at a time; maybe in between other more interesting games or during your coffee break at work.
