Did we lose playrix and alawar?? Still haope next week or sometime we still have MPCity....I have win10 64 bit- say it won't work???

    ...........................................Moderator comment...................................

There are several games in the listings including MyPlayCity games. We've not had an Alawar game since before the site changed to the new look back in March and no Alawar games since early April. I've been told by someone who knows someone who works for Alawar that they have not left us. I used to beta test for them and when they stopped the last time several years ago I asked if they were done with the giveaway project and was told they were just taking an extended break, sso hopefully we will see them again soon. as for Playrix, I really don't know. they used to give us games regularly from the first year of the giveaway project right through to this March. Maybe they will return, maybe not. I really don't know.

Unable to comply with requirements as I don't twit.
Long tine fan of GGOTD and looking forward to the next actual giveaway; hoping for another HOG.

    Hi Poppaspank

I don't twit as well, but still got a download link. When the login page for twitter opens I just returned to the giveaway page and the task was checked. Same with the Facebook page. I'm sure the giveaway team know that many don't use either of these, so allow the tasks to be completed once you've clicked on the appropriate buttons. I don't FB either, but still got it checked just by opening the Log in page. they have added those to spread the word, i.e. anyone who does use FB and Twitter can pass on the info about giveawayoftheday via those social media.

Poppaspank, No the twit and FB, does not do as yu said anymore. Your solution did work 3 weeks ago. But last week and today it does not. Some Admin of some site changed the Buttons- so now the tasks cannot be performed by those who do not twit or FB.. Or on a selected few does the old way still work???

    ...........................................Moderator comment...................................

    Hi Philip

I was able to get the download link without signing into Twitter or Facebook. I clicked on the buttons that opened the log in pages, then immediately returned to the giveaway page and found both had been checked. I never signed into a Twitter account (I don't have one) and the only F.B. account I had was one named Whiterabbit-uk, which I didn't use often and only used for playing the free games. when i last tried to access it it was gone. I later found out that they had sent out messages to anyone who had F.B. accounts with online names that were not real to say they had to change them to our real names. Otherwise they would be closed. I never saw those messages until over a year later when i fancied playing one of the games I'd been playing previously and discovered the account no longer existed because it had been deleted due to the name

That said, in some instances a F.B. account has been required. Then I use my sons old account which he abandoned a few years ago. Personally I avoid social media sites as I'm just not interested in them, not that i disagree with them as they can be useful in finding friends. in fact i did find a friend through Facebook last year. I'd lost touch after leaving university 27 years ago.

Cant complete the task because i have the same mail account with facebook and twitter and i get this message...

"user account with such data already exists. You have switched to another user."

how i can delete my accounts? how i can unsubscribe if no option in this web? any idea?

    Hi Gerardo

Unfortunately I don't have the administrative rights to help as I'm just a volunteer moderator. Please contact the giveaway team via THIS link, or check the main page, where the contact link can be accessed via the contact button that is located at the bottom of the page. Also leave a message requesting help in this comments section, mentioning that you have sent a contact request in. Hopefully one of the team will reply/action the issue before the end of the giveaway or before keys run out (assuming they might, though with 20 000 keys and the ability to request more, it's unlikely).

When you have requirements to perform to receive something, that something is not given ... it is earned. The title Game Giveaway is a sham. This site has gone to hell over two dollar games.

    ...........................................Moderator comment...................................

If the giveaway site changed their name they would lose the good standing they have earned over the last 10 years. At this point in time with their good standing, doing a search on one of the major search engines is likely to bring up links to the giveaway site either in the first few entries or at the very least the first page of searches. If they lost their good standing, for example by changing their name, searches would not be as productive and fewer community members would be gained. this would mean even fewer games being given away by developers. e.g. I can enter a phrase I've posted in the giveaway comments section or the forums years ago and it will find it quickly. If they lost their good standing this would not be the case.
This comments section is meant for feedback of the game being given away and not for whinging about how things have changed since the gamegiveawayoftheday started 10 years ago. If you wish to complain, contact the giveaway team via the contact form which you can find at the bottom of the home page, or HERE

To be honest I'm flabbergasted at the number of community members who complain over something that is being given away. Having to do a few tasks that take literally seconds, is not work or payment. That said, it is your prerogative, i just think it's well.......... this isn't the place to reply as it is a family site. What I've tried to explain countless times now that if the community posted useful comments about the game being given away be they negative or positive, instead of whinging, developers would be much happier to give games away. sadly too many community members don't post about the games, instead they post complaints about how this site has gone downhill or the game isn't free anymore or some other totally unrelated comment. It's no wonder we lost Playrix and Alawar and now struggle to get other developers to give their games away.

If you are unhappy with the way the site is run, contact the developer not post your complaints in the comments section reserved for comments about the game. The whole point of the comments section is to give feedback about the game. I have tried countless times for years, virtually every giveaway to make it clear to the community that if they want to see good games being given away they should post comments about the games in question and not post comments about how this site has gone downhill, usually because they are not happy with what games are available or for lots of other unrelated reasons. It's no wonder I get frustrated and as you say not be as tactful as I should be. To be honest I'm totally fed up of spending hours every weekend having to deal with people such as yourself whose sole purpose in life seems to be to complain. If you want to complain about something it should be done by the correct means not clutter the comments section with unrelated comments. As I said in a recent reply I have tried to allow certain comments through for the past several years to make this a friendly place to visit, unfortunately and increasingly since the site changed the way it operates (with respect to how games are given away) we have seen those complaints balloon out of all proportion compared to comments about the game. In fact as I've also said lots of times, only a very tiny percentage of the comments made on this comments page are actually about the game and this is unacceptable considering that is what this section of the site is for. Developers seeing such comments are not going to want to give away thousands of copies of their games to a community who doesn't at least give something back, i.e. useful feedback about their games.

If community members are not happy about something they should use the contact form accessible from the front page of the site. I've been far too lenient with respect to allowing comments through for years and have come to the conclusion that comments unless they are specific to the game, or at least give some feedback as well as friendly banter they will be deleted which is why I've deleted yours. I'm happy for you to post the complaint to the giveaway team. if they deem that I'm not suitable to continue that's fine by me. Please send your complaint through the proper channels. This page is reserved for game comments.

    Dear Forus,
Please mind that according to our moderation policy a comment may be removed if it has nothing to do with the game or software product given away.

    https://www.giveawayoftheday.com/faq/#moderation

We greatly appreciate our moderator's effort in taking the time and answering virtually all of the comments as well as providing our visitors with relevant feedback, advice and in-depth game reviews. Our moderator is just one of the community members who has been with us for many years and has the enthusiasm to make this website friendly. We appreciate your suggestion, but we cannot think of a better person to represent our small team.

Once again, we would like to highlight that the comments section is meant only for sharing opinions about games and software products given away. Be these opinions positive or negative, we never remove comments that contain negative feedback.

If you don't like the way the games are distributed, feel free to share your thoughts through our forums section: https://www.giveawayoftheday.com/forums/ or drop us a line at giveaway@giveawayoftheday.com and we will gladly share your ideas with our board.

Thank you for your support team, it's very much appreciated. Too be honest, all those spam posts of late have been driving me a little mad. I hope your tech department can add a vpn blocker to stop them.

I do think over the years I've been very very moderate in my moderation, preferring not to stir community members up, but also to promote a friendly site, but since the site was updated earlier this year, and since you've added Steam games to the giveaways (which I think is brilliant), the number of community members complaining instead of commenting about the games has increased almost exponentially to the point you can't see any comments about the game. Would you agree that I should delete most comments that are totally unrelated to the game of the day? I still want to keep the comments section friendly, so would use my judgment as to which comments to let through, and I usually always post a message to the person I'm deleting to let them know why. Also, should I direct complaints to your contact form? I don't want you to get a deluge of complaints as I'm sure you are very busy, but I do think the time has come for me to be a lot stricter.

We have a new breed of community member now with the Steam keys that you have been giving away. I have started to spread the word among my Steam friends, many of which have upwards of a thousand friends on their Steam friends lists because most of my friends on Steam are game collectors, with high Steam levels (the higher the Steam level, the more friends you can add). Every time I post a comment in the activity feed it should be seen by all of my friends and their friends as well, so potentially I'm passing on information about the giveaway to thousands every week. As you know, the Steam community is one of the biggest gaming communities in the world with around 170 million active users, so the potential to get newcomers to this site is pretty good.

I still believe that if developers see decent feedback constantly on this site it would get more of them to give games away. I've been asking the community to do this for years, but it seems hardly anyone bothers. Good feedback is very important to developers be it negative or positive, if only to give them idea's for their games. :)

Crashed when I tried to play. Extracted all of the files into a single folder, clicked on the .exe file and it loaded. I saw two screens with credits and then a black screen with a boxed X in the upper right hand corner. After a few minutes of nothing I clicked on the X to close the window and nothing happened. I had to kill the program with I'm on Windows & Ultimate 64-bit.

its game created using Game Maker Studio, look at the sprites in the platformer mission : wall, Mini games: apple, banana, cherry, burger, gems

Am I right?, maybe you can make better graphics of the game.Like some background that see like real not like a flat paper behind us.

Can I ask how to submit your game to itch.io or other game client, because Im developer to and I want to submit my game

    Hi ditoeka

When you first sign up to Itch.io you are asked what account type you want i.e either a playing and downloading games or a Developing and uploading games type of account. . If you've already created your account go to settings and scroll down to where it says Account type and check the box that says ''Developing and uploading games'' then take it from there.

    Zapp: Escape from Hollowcell

This is not a Steam game. You redeem the download link that is sent to your email via Itcho once you've completed the two simple tasks. You do need to create an Itcho account if you don't already have one. Once signed in you can download the game which is DRM free. You should see the following image showing the download page once signed in using the link sent to your email:

    download for Zapp
Zapp: Escape from Hollowcell was released a couple of weeks ago on Itcho by SmartOliveGames. You embark on a journey into the undead world of Hollowcell where you search the halls of the Hollowcell, escape various enemies and rescue your brother from the evil wizard and his undead army.

    Installation

Once you've downloaded the zipped files from Itcho unpack the zip file and place all files where you usually install your games to. There is no shortcut created, you will have to do that yourself by right clicking on the executable and selecting either create shortcut, which will place a shortcut in the games folder, or if you have already placed the game folder where you want it right click on the game executable and select 'send to'. While hovering over Send to another menu appears, from that select Desktop (create shortcut).

    The Game

Escape from Hollowcell is a basic platform game where you have to collect treasure, keys and avoid the baddies such as zombies and spiders. You can pick up scrolls that give you useful information about the game, but if you even touch an enemy you die and have to start again from the beginning of the level you were on. I found level one easy, but could not get past level 2 as I didn't know how to pass the large monster. Trying to jump, didn't work and I couldn't find anything on the level to help me, so gave up. The following features are available

    Keyboard & Gamepad controls

    Simple control system

    Multiplayer

    Inbuilt map system

    Mini games

    Screenshot_14
    Screenshot_12
    Conclusion

You can't play the game in windowed mode, so I wasn't able to capture any screen captures, none of the screen capture programs I use would work. My copy of Zeman Antimalware blocked the game and removed the executable, so I had to turn it off to get the game to work. The graphics are minimal and basic, but the overall game play is what you would expect from a platformer. I couldn't figure out how to get past the second level, so had to abandon game play for a while as I was getting frustrated. I'll continue later if I'm able .

Whiterabbit-uk, and i never get the Games here because of the mandatory Facebook share thing. I use Twitter and hate Facebook because of it's a Symbol of Racism and Discrimination, so mandatory Facebook shares is a No-Go, but perhaps this Site also advocates racism, discrimination and all the bad Things Facebook stands for, don't hope it not but who knows.

    Hi Nirantali

You don't have to actually sign into Facebook. When I clicked on the Facebook link it opened up the Facebook login, and I then got my entries without having to log in.

Doesn't work for me, opens up the Facebook login and no Entry, so Facebook Login seems to be forced for me, i use Chrome dunno if Browser matters.

    ...........................................Moderator comment...................................

    Hi Nirantali

I use Waterfox. Don't know if that would make a difference. There does seem to be some community members able to get these entries without having to sign into Facebook, but I cannot say for sure whether that is global. I would have presumed so. I can't now test to see if Chrome works differently as i've already completed the tasks.

Whiterabbit-uk, have you tried Moo0 Screenshot? (The last "0" is a zero, and their URLs require www.) It's my go-to screenshot utility since Dropbox/PrtScr no longer works with WinXP. Actually, have you tried that combination? If you enable the setting in Dropbox, when you press PrtScr, it's saved as a file in your Dropbox.

Philip, i use Twitter and that worked, the FB Task forces login, tested hundred times. Also yes FB advocates racism and discrimination since they have real name policy and protects stalkers but not the victims and now they also even promote political manipulations and censorship.

So it's better for PR now a day for any Company to avoid any connections with FB if they not also want to be accused to advocate racism, discrimination and censorship.
