CaesarQuest is a new point and click physics based puzzle game from Wheemplay. Hide good caesar from falling stones, and drop the evil caesar our from level!
Pot the ball in to the hole! Guide your ball to the end of the level by choosing the correct path. Be careful as the levels have several obstacles that you need to avoid.
Can you figure out what lines and shapes to cut threw to make the timepiece get to the goal? Cut and slice the environment to get the ball to the portal. Meet Mechanism 3, a winner of Intel Level Up 2010 Judge’s Choice Award: "Best Art Design" and a 2nd Place in "Best Game on a Netbook".
I thought the timing was too tricky & I quickly got tired of restarting the levels. I liked the concept of the game but not the execution of the difficulty.

Controls: Ah, a side-scroller game that uses keyboard controls. Mouse controls are so inaccurate, it's cool to see an old-style game. I don't know why so many people are against keyboard controls? Are they not dexterous enough to use a keyboard?
Installation: The game itself is just an executable file that is extracted from the GGotD download. There is no desktop icon or anything else, merely deleting the game's executable and other files removes ALL traces of it from your system. Since it is so innocuous for installation and doesn't insert itself into the registry or the system, there's no real reason to prefer a flash version.
Overall: You either do or don't like side-scroller games. This one is devoid of any fancy graphics or complicated controls. It's a simple, plain game that increases slightly in difficulty as you advance. If you expect anything other than this you will be disappointed. If you are familiar with the genre and don't mind the simple graphics, it's a neat little time-waster. Since it also doesn't clutter up your system during installation, that is also a bonus!
I'm with Stephen on this one, a 5 out of 10.
Miscellaneous: What is wrong with #10:nomen nescio? I can use any browser I like on the site, matter-of-fact I tried Firefox, Opera and IE to access it without any problem in any of them. I also don't see a notice anywhere that we HAVE to use Firefox?

I agree with you on the use of keyboard controls for platform games and in fact for a whole bunch of genres. I have tried using mouse for such games and always felt there was little control using a mouse.

The moderator mention playing flash games in brower - me I save the flash game and prefer using the downloadable - Flash Player 9 - (which I have) and using that to open flash games, movies, or other flash instead of opening with brower! Using brower - you frequent need to give active x permission - flash player is better with thousands of acailable flash games hat can be downloaded!
Examples -
A . iFlashPlayer 9
B. SWF Cache Viewer
C. plus others[/color]

Flash Saving Plugin is accompanied by SWF Cache Viewer - a program that enables you conveniently view and save cached swf files. Some web sites open Flash movies in a popup window without the toolbar, thus making it impossible to use the button or the context menu command. That's where SWF Cache Viewer comes in handy.
SWF Cache Viewer can also be used to view Flash movies stored in Mozilla Firefox cache or any folder on your PC.

@WhiteRabbit RE: allsmartgames.com !Warez Alert!
No wonder there are so many/so new games on this free game site: The Terms of Use state that they are cracked games, and name the person who cracked them. Also there is a Disclaimer section on their site that tells copyright holders where/how to complain about copyright infringement...
..............................Moderator Comment.........................
Thank you very much for that information. The link will be deleted with your warning next time and whenever it's posted. I wasn't aware of it becasue I don't bother with free games from such sites any more as I prefer to purhase my games.

Judging from the above replies, GOTD has a new moderator!
Welcome and thanks for helping this grand community.
The game itself (my gf downloaded it a few months back elsewhere) is very simple and that's exactly why she likes it. Perfect for those moments when you just want to take a break - a break that will not make you more tired than the computer work itself!
If you expect an adventure, complex schemes and occasional shouts of desperation, this game is MOST LIKELY not for you - unless you are playing it while following the cliffs of New Zealand in a super-charged boat at 60 knots, that is.

No there's no new moderator, just lonesome me as usual

Reminds me of early DOS games. Nothing much to get excited about, but worth the price you pay...LOL!!! Anyway, thanks GGOTD...we appreciate your time. I check this site regularly because I've gotten some really great games here and I recommend the site to friends. Keep up the good work. We appreciate you!!!

So far nearly 5000 community members have downloaded this game. Previous stats for downloading include Fishdom: Frosty Splash with a total of nearly 12 918 downloads, Jane Croft: The Baker Street Murder 15 556, Atlantis Quest (Rx2) 11 960, Around the world in 80 days (Rx2) 8529, Brickshooter Egypt (Rx2) 13957, Inca Ball (Rx3) 13705, A Man with a Monocle 7354, The Last Conundrum of Da Vinci 14168, Spirit of Wandering: The Ledend 12871, Mysterious City Vegas 15104, Mysterious City Golden Prague (R) 9634. Where R = Repeat x the number it's been repeated. It's interesting to note the number of comments and votes that are made for each game. Usually less than 1% of voters bother to comment and about 10% click on the positive/negative comparison. Todays stands at 0.5% of community members leaving a comment and 5% the pos/neg comparison.

Ok, I can see a discussion about websites with free games. So I'll take an advantage of it and I'd like to invite you to my new website:
It's a new website with 2-3 freeware games added every day + from time to time some online, casual and independent ones.

Sorry, personal websites are not allowed on this site. I checked your free content and can say that most of what you offer for free is already available via our own freeware project which you can find in the forums.

Steam does have great sales. The blowouts are Christmas and 4th of July, and sometimes they even have free games. Also check GOG. They have some good freebies, and also have some great sales, if you are into "classic" games, from adventure to shooter to arcade. Another good free "online" gaming site that is safe is Kongregate.

I think it's kind of cute. Thank you for offering us fun games for free!

@ WhiteRabbit RE: allsmartgames
Not only are the games fresh and plentiful, there is no spyware, no toolbars, no browsers opening at closing the game, nothing unexpected installed on my computer. I want games that are easy to install and just as easy to uninstall when I tire of them. Having said all that I still find Brickshooter Egypt to be my all time favorite game which I got here a couple of times. That is why I keep coming back. As a disabled person, I have a lot of time to kill and not much money, so free softwares of any sort that keep my mind off unpleasant real life issues are much appreciated.
......................Moderator Comment.............................
You should install the Steam client and keep an eye out for their sales. They were selling packs of five indie games over the Christmas period for around $5. A massive saving on the full price. I started buying steam games when I saw a similar deal just over two years ago. Also watch out for the Humble bundles. The second one included the first bundle and you could pay any amount you wished for them. It's worth keeping an eye open over in the forums for news of that deal.

#2: :"... This developer simply compiled the flash game into an executable file..."
...[Moderator comment]
"Some community members do like to be able to play flash games without having to have their browsers open..."
If anyone's interested, FWIW & all...
Flash files [.swf], including many (most?) games are self-contained affairs, that on-line use & rely on the player you've installed to your browser. Adobe also gives away a stand-a-lone player [Adobe Flash Player] at least originally targeted at developers so they could test their work -- AFAIK any .swf file that will open & play in that player can also be saved as a single projector file, which is a single .exe file with the player & .swf combined. Google/Bing on the player or using the words "Flash" or "Shockwave" and "Projector" for much more info, &/or see Adobe's site. Last I looked [which was quite a while ago] the stand-a-lone player was part of Adobe's Flash SDK stuff, but it's also been included in several apps that have been on GOTD, e.g. search your hard drive for "iFlashPlayer.exe", which is one of the more recent examples.
Now I am not posting that criticizing today's game or it's developer... Even *if* all the dev did was to create a projector file [ATM I have no idea], the original game still took some work. Please remember that if/when someone puts a game on their web page, they get something out of it, like hopefully a lot of page views that might translate into a couple of dollars etc... That goes away if/when it's available as a downloadable file, so we shouldn't be upset or surprised if they charge for it.
Note that not every game or .swf file will work this way, & it can be difficult [or impossible] to save the .swf file you're after, but IMHO it can be useful when someone doesn't have on-line access, &/or if you don't want them on-line unsupervised, e.g. they're a younger child.

I suppose http://www.gamehitzone.com gonna give away racing games only, because they removed all other games from the website. I've already posted here links to their other games, those links still work. Check them:

I don't know about you Stephen. No pun intended but the Yellow adventure may sound more inappropriately suggestive.
Might I reccomend a rename to Smiley Adventure or Emoticon Adventure where each smiley mood yields a diff power.

Well I don't know Mr. Wild I went to Gamehitzone.com and there certainly isn't much of a selection. 4 out of 5 our racing games. What about the people that like something else? As for todays game I agree to much of a pain trying to use the keyboard to control the smiley.

love platformers cheers, #3 irene theres a nice little app called xpadder that lets you use a joystick/pad etc. best of all its free.

Well that's a nice surprise, a funny game on the Saturday morning ;-)
Downloading and installation goes very fast. Unfortunately I'm not too good in these type of games, using the keyboard to try to control the smiley. Seems a nice game for all the family, nice graphics.
Only thing I miss is a menu option to quit the game, so I closed it the 'hard' way (the cross in the corner)
Nevertheless, thanks a lot for this game.

I don't think it's a good tradition to give away flash games, those are free initially. This developer simply compiled the flash game into an executable file.
So I want to offer you new giveaways on this weekend from http://www.gamehitzone.com
There is no malware, viruses and toolbars in the games and you can download and play them absolutely for free. For example, Street Racer - free racing game http://www.gamehitzone.com/download-free-games/street-racer/

Some community members do like to be able to play flash games without having to have their browsers open, plus with the downloadable version you can play in full screen, wheras playing via your browser more often than not precludes the ability to play in full screen.
Thank you for the link Tom. You can also get a whole pile of games from Caiman Games many of which are of commercial quality as well as from Gametop, FreegamePick and MyPlayCity. The last three sites do direct your browser to open when you close the games down, but generally are free from other annoyances that you get from free games. I believe MyPlayCity are reinstigating toolbar installations, but these can be avoided by unchecking the appropriate boxes as is the same for Gametop and FreeGamePick. Just Google the names for a link to the sites.

I'm just posting a very basic review for todays game as I wasn't able to write up a review prior to the game giveaway due to there not being any demo available. The images and videos should give you a very good idea as to what to expect from this game. The links to seperate images wont work for some reason, but you can see a slideshow of 23 images via the link provided below
Installation:
Today’s game downloads to a 5.08Mb zip file and unpacks to a read me doc with the terms and conditions and instructions for running the game from the executable (Yellow Adventure.exe) plus a dual activation and set up module. The game installs to C:\Games by default and is 4.69Mb in size once unpacked. There is no shortcut installed nor any uninstaller. To uninstall the game just delete the executable. As with other Wheemplay games there is no folder just the executable.
I’ve tested the game on Win XP Pro 32 bit, Vista Home Premium 64bit and Win 7 Ultimate 64bit so far with no problems.
Introduction:
Control a yellow ball and collect crystals. Grab objects, and have a fun. Full Description: In this game you have to play the yellow funny ball. He has strong hands and can grab things to get to inaccessible places. Jumping on the spinning wheels, dangerous spikes - all waiting to meet you.
Reference http://apps.wheemplay.com/yellowadventure/ accessed 11th Feb 2011
The Game:
This is a straightforward platform adventure with simple graphics, a variety of puzzles to solve (these are just positional puzzles) and 13 main levels plus three bonus levels where yellow ball changes to a blue ball. The aim of the game is to pick up a small number of gems from each level. Once you’ve achieved the total for each level (never more than three gems) you are automatically taken to the next level.
Yellow Adventures initially opens up in a window but you can change the game window to full screen by clicking on the appropriate button to the top left of the games window. You can access a walkthrough for all the main levels from a link at the top of the playing arena and the bonus levels from the appropriate You tube page which I’ve linked to below. The videos are spoilers so I wouldn’t watch them unless you want to see what the game play looks like or if you are stuck (the game is very simple so the latter shouldn’t be a problem).
Game Walkthrough:
Levels 1 to 13:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scnRXq-6Zaw
Levels 14 to 16:
The first link is accessible from the games main menu
Images:
You can see more images (23) showing most of the levels via the following link:
http://s571.photobucket.com/albums/ss160/Whiterabbit04/Yellow%20Adventures/?albumview=slideshow
Conclusion:
Basically a short series of simple puzzle levels with very little variation between the levels. The graphics are simple with just a plain blue background. Ideal for children and adults alike. The game is well made, but rather short , which is why I will only score this game a 5 out of 10, however the cost of the game (once the gamegiveaway is over is peanuts compared to many other arcade games. You can get hundreds of games for free that are of similar or better quality from Caiman Games; just Google Caiman Games for a link.
p.s.
I'll try and fix the problem with not being able to show images later today. I need to go back to bed. (Which means there wont be any more moderation till I return) :)
