This game was offered February 23rd? Now it's March 15th and I finished it. Admittedly I never played more than a couple of levels per day. And dang, there were a few levels where I really wasn't being entertained, a couple that got kinda stressful and ONE that I had to restart 54 times before I got through. (I think it was 42 or 43.) But I'm here to say that it can be done. 50 levels plus multiple bonus levels and a level 51 endgame Boss. AND I MADE IT! Whoo-hoo!
This was the best game GGOTD ever offered. Awesome. If this company ever wants to share anything else, I hope you jump on it. I would actually recommend this game to people even if they were buying it. This was fun! And no, in spite of the cute Robo character and the simplicity of some of the early levels, this gets really hard about half way in and extremely challenging past level 40 or so. Definitely not a game for kids unless you want them to smash their keyboard in frustration. I don't know if anyone here monitors new comments or goes back and notices additions to past game comments sections, but thank you so much, GGOTD, for Robbox. This was fantastic.

Just noted that someone said that this would appeal to kids - BE CAREFUL! The first 15 levels or so seem pretty darn easy, then things get really tough - sometimes almost impossible, but they are possible and every level contains enough goodies to get you through without buying anything extra. But sometimes those extras come in VERY handy. My almost-13 yr. old liked it to start, but didn't care for the difficulty later on and found other GGotD games more to his liking and hasn't returned.
For some, it's the challenge that get you coming back for more. For others, it's the same challenge that takes away the entertainment and sends them off for one of the MANY match-3's here...

Another wonderful game GAOTD. WoooHooo!! This is my kind of game. My 8 year old grandson has me beat seven ways to Sunday on the "fastest finger" games for sure but these "thinkers" are the ultimate. I have played the demos of 3 of Everett Kasers Heroes Hearts thanks to a poster here. I will definitely be trying out Chips Challenge and Sokoban. I have 2 games of Fitznik by Screaming Duck that are very similar to Robbox but the action at times is pretty quick. The hero in that one is a bipedal wolf and there are bombs but no "pullers" or power ups to buy and there are spiders, fire spitting cobras and Stalker Bots that behave like the worms in Heroes Hearts.
Thanks again GAOTD for the time and effort that you put into this site to bring us all the wonderful time wasters. ;)
Cheers...

Had some trouble ajusting resolution the first time played but after restart i juiced the graphics up to 1280 and it worked fine. Definatly one of the better games on here for a while. Have enjoyed so far and continue to do so.

Great game, thank you GGOTD. I'm enjoying this one a lot. The same thing with Realore's Turtle Odyssey II, a GGOTD from a couple of weeks ago. My question is can anyone recommend a good joystick I can use with this game and Turtle Odyssey II? I can't reach some of the special areas on level 6.1 of Turtle Odyssey II and I'm sure I could use the joystick on this game also.

On my first XP system (Compaq Presario sr1625nx desktop, 3GB, AMD 4400, evga e-GeForce 7600 GT KO 256 MB) I was able to change the resolution to the game's highest (1024 x 768) without any problem.
On my second XP system (HP Pavilion dv9033cl notebook, 2GB, Intel T5500, nVidia GeForce GO 7600 256 MB) I was NOT able to change the resolution from the game's default to the highest.
Instead, after pressing the Apply Settings, I got an error window: ERROR! (the title bar), and "Memory Access Violation" (no other info), with an OK button to close it.
If the game was in the default full screen, after pressing the OK button the game simply crashed/ended and disappeared.
On the next attempt, I chose to turn off the "full screen" feature, then after pressing the Apply button the game would appear "windowed" (smaller, as expected), then the game would crash and the error window would appear again.
However, after pressing the OK button on the error window I next got a generic Microsoft window "robbox.exe had encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience... Please tell Microsoft about this problem. We have created an error report that you can send..."
(There were, of course, the "technical details" that I will not include here -- way too much info -- but if the developers would like a copy they can leave a request in the forum which I'll check for a while.)
Note that both of those options (that, if changed, caused the problems) are in the "Advanced" options.
The game did play OK on the second system if I simply played with the default settings; i.e., made no changes to resolution or full screen mode.
Through trial and error I finally discovered I could get to the game's high resolution setting by changing the Advanced settings one at a time and exiting then re-launching the game after each one to make the changes stick. So on that second system it finally ended up working if I did this: reduced the 32-bit Color Depth setting to 16-bit, then change from full screen to windowed, then change to the max resolution, then back to full screen, then back to 32-bit.
Whew, finally! Thanks for a fun game, but please figure out the problems!

I've played this more since my #9 comment earlier today ...
Snowy and Fizzwizzle are fluff compared to this game now that I've played more (although they're fine games too, and they all are still similar in how you have to strategize your moves). The challengingness (is that a word?) of Robbox is far higher than I first thought (and this is a good thing). (I'm embarrassed to say that) I've blown myself up or had to restart levels far more than I expected I would! Thank goodness they start each new level with an intro about what new hazards are coming up (and how you can avoid them) ... big plus to the developers for doing that.
Just had to come back and post again as this game is really turning out to be an awesome offering, perhaps one of the best in 2008 so far IMHO, and I just wanted to say so.
At Suki #18 ...
You're right about the controller and getting blown up. I'm still getting used to my new controller (have had it just a couple weeks) and yep, one unintentional nudge on the stick and I kill myself LOL.

I absolutely loved this game when I got it the last time. My only gripe was that I had to have a demo for every level once it got further along because I had noooo idea of how to proceed (there wasn't any visible logical way of working it out for yourself - like which crates to blow up to get the bonuses that you really needed to finish the level)

This game is very nice! Unlike some of the recent games that I've tried, it downloaded, installed AND customized with absolutely no errors on my Vista Ultimate (32 bit).
It's like a cross between Hero's Hearts (KaserGames) and Sokoban. I find it quite enjoyable.

Update to my earlier comment: The game does get more challenging as you go along. Maybe too challenging for the younger players. I got stuck on Level 7 for a while; (22 re-starts :( hidden mines and power-ups). But, if it gets too tough you can watch the solution to see how it should be done. The poor English does become a pain sometimes. I am still glad I downloaded this one!

Watching the demo, this reminds me *very much* of a game called "Chip's Challenge," if any of you remember back to the old Win95 days. In fact, I'll bet Melinda turned Chip into a robot (and redecorated the clubhouse, it would seem). :-D
Chip is one of my absolutely favorite games, and I was thrilled to find a link for it a while back: http://takegame.com/arcade/htm/chipschallenge.htm . While low on the tech/graphics scale, if you like the gameplay/concept of Robbox, I believe you will enjoy Chip. (And, as has been mentioned about Robbox, if you decide to give Chip a try, read the help file; not only is it helpful, it's also quite funny. :O) )
And of course, thanks to Realore and GGOTD for Robbox -- it's definitely a keeper.

I second #43s comments. The tutorial and the info on using the run command dxdiag were very helpful. So helpful in fact I discovered I need a new video card lol. Who would put out a 2 year old computer that doesn't support 3D graphics? Emachines, that's who. I'll stick with Compaq and HP in the future.

This is a really nice game, for my taste... explosions without blood and guts. But comments #22 & 48 have it right about the poor English. Also, I missed the part where Fire = Space Bar... Finally found the list in the HELP area. I suggest everyone start there to avoid much frustration.

The game downloaded and installed without a hitch and plays well on my XP machine. No problems at all.
What a neat little game! :) This game is easy to learn and so far has not been overly challenging. I am hoping though that it gets tougher as I go along. Just use simple logic to plan your progress and you will do fine. Be sure to read the instructions at the beginning of each level. ;) The game is keyboard controled but you don't have to be as nimble fingered as with some other games, the action is not that fast paced.
Thanks to BuBBy and Whiterabbit for the tech advice on graphics cards, I learned a lot!
Thanks also to GGOTD and Realore for the great game! :P

To #38 - Don - Good question. I was wondering, "why is everybody talking about a game that cannot be downloaded". It is a conspiracy I tell ya :P
Under the stats box on the left hand side - there is in large orange writing "Download Robbox Now" and also below that "Mirror Link #1" either/both of those are download links & will take you to the download page.
If you still cannot find the link press Ctrl-F (your browsers "Find" function) and search for the word "Download". Failing that we will have to send out a search party - the link should've been back by now... it's most unlike our download link wandering off without telling someone when it planned to come back. :P

ONE OF MY FAVORITES
I got this here at Game Giveaway of the Day and loved it. The robot is really amusing and gets bored or scratches his head if you pause too long to think. I hope they come out with a Robbox II soon :)
1. You are a robot who must solve a series of puzzles in various rooms in order to escape.
2. Objects must be moved or avoided.
3. There are traps and monsters along the way.
4. There are special tools to be found and used.
If you study the whole map ahead of time you can whip through all the stages in record time. I preferred to explore the field as it came and take my chances. There was something evilly gratifying in slicing the little robot in bits and delighting in his misfortune when a hidden magnet nabbed him by his metal hands with a clang. A landmine? Ooops! And when the spiders rolled him into a cocoon? How absolutely horrid! Somehow I didn't mind starting over again.
And again ;^P

Thanks for the article BuBBy - useful reading, though before you download the stuff that is suggested you can find out details of what DX version you ave as well as what video card or on board video chip you have (motherboard chip)by using the dxdiag facility. Just go to the start menu click on run then type in dxdiag. Click on okay to bring up the DX diagnostics toolbox, it tells you which DX version your running on the system info tab (at the bottom. Then go to the display tab and look under the device section to the top left. With the information from that section you can then search the internet using the video chipset as a parameter and you should find whether it's a recent or old card.
There are other ways but that means looking inside your computer and seeing what sort of socket your graphics card is using. Some such as the old ide socket are very old now, PCI became the next standard, then AGP and now it's PCI-E. If your computer is 5 years or newer your motherboard will have a graphics chip included and is probably DX9 compiant.
I hope this helps in conjunction with BuBBy's suggestion.
If you go into the options menu and click on the advanced button you can try checking and unchecking some of the options. That is if you are able to get that far.

A nice game specially for kids.
Note: You say that the requirements are 1000 MHz (please write like this and not 1000MHZ, without space and with a capital z(?!)) and 64 MB video RAM. I'm happy to say that is running smoothly in 16 MB video RAM - let me repeat - 16 MB video RAM (it's a RAGE 128 or whatever is the name) and a PIII at 800 MHz, not 1000 MHz.
The realore games are, pretty much all of them, like this: very functionals. I don't know what you do, guys, but you're found it! So keep that progrmming structure 'cause it's fire proof.

To the people having issues with 3D Initialisation errors - note that this game does have a specific hardware requirement of a DirectX 7 3D Video card with at least 64MB of Video memory.
If this means absolutely nothing to you, I have written an article in the forums that should help you better understand how this might relate to your computer (the one that cannot initialize a 3D engine).
Have a read of this and hopefully it will explain how you can determine if your PC is capable of playing this game (or rather displaying the 3D graphics)
Anybody who is running (at least) Windows XP will have DirectX 8.1 installed (in software) but you still need a video card that is capable of displaying 3D graphics in this game to at least a DirectX 7.0 standard.

Developed by Artfrost ( http://robbox.nm.ru ) and published by Realore, this is one fine game! It uses a lot of 'sokoban' puzzles among the many other elements. It's extremely well made, there was obviously a lot of thought and attention to detail put into this, and it's very easy to get into thanks to helpful tutorial type hints along the way. Don't be intimidated by this one, try it! And don't let the art design or theme put you off either, it's really an upbeat and pleasant game, suitable for all ages and personalities. I've only scrathed the surface myself but I really like what I've seen. Well done Artfrost!
Sokoban is a popular puzzle type game that involves pushing crates around, to solve maze-like puzzles or to activate switches that enable you to complete a level. There are many excellent freeware sokoban games around if you're interested in the genre. For example, there are 60 freeware games in the sokoban category at the caiman.us site. I can vouch for Cassetto, Ruta, the Pazoo series, and there are also similar games in the 'puzzle' category there, among them a game called Stroke that shouldn't be missed.
Speaking of crates, if judged according to the "crate review system" (google it) Robbox ranks very highly indeed!
