Not been well enough to post a review of this game which is a pity as it looks like a decent game apart from having to sign in to play it.

For those who enjoy Strategy Empire Building, Role Playing and Warfare games, Age of Wonders is free via the Humble Store until Saturday. I've posted a link in the Game discussion forums.

Whiterabbit-uk, I have not had to sign in to play, as I have a button which says, "Play without login". I haven't managed to progress very far as I keep getting killed in the section through the first portal, but I have been able to play the game. It probably means I don't get all the features of the game that would be available if I did log in, but the game is playable without logging in.

For getting the game and giving such helpful feedback. I have created a link that will allow you to re-download the game and reinstall if you would like to always have the most current version. We update the game every week adding new items, challenges and quests. We just had a update last night to Ver. 1.1.18.

looks like it would be fun IF it used better controls or added support for game pads... i hate keyboard/mouse gaming.

Not really my type of game, but I will be installing t anyways because I am pretty sure the kids from my sister will love it when they visit. Probably will end up trying it myself as well even if just to make sure they won't run into things not suited for their eyes. (Hey there is a female "massage help device" in a Mario game... one has to be sure right)

I'm blushing now . . . ! It's so good to see a game which really looks like fun again. Even this giveaway page has taken on the look of the Olden Days, when there were lots of people sampling the game and commenting on it.

Keep up the good work, all concerned! And, Whiterabbit - take it easy, and we all hope you'll feel loads better soon.

Hey Wabbit,

Wake up and get this game!

Got it.... because of the dev, who I am following on Itch.io, and from what I can see, No DRM???? Love the graphics and it looks like a lot of fun.

Forget what i said about DRM..

I powered it up..set up the account and picked my character and I, then, powered down. I don't have time to play now..Hopefully, this weekend, I will for a few anyways...

delenn13, Hi Delenn, I didn't wake up until 10.30pm. Been in bed all day feeling under the weather again. Same reason why I missed posting anything for yesterdays game, though that and the other one today look like SovKey games again, which even at their low £0.69 price are massive rip offs.

Today's does look like a big improvement on most of the weekday games, though u-Boot 1945, School the Dead: Anastasia and to a lesser extent Wunderwaffe were all reasonable time fillers.

It's definitely way too late to post a review today. Maybe tomorrow if I'm up to is as the game is running till the weekend.

Whiterabbit-uk,

Good idea. This really a nice game. I was surprised to see this caliber of a game on a weekday with all the other stuff we have had. It looks like quite the adventure/platform/quest/puzzle game. I am pumped to play..If I get a chance, I just start this up tonight.

And if xavier is speechless with Basilica's review(which was quite good), I can't wait to see what happens when he sees your review...LOL

Hope you feel better and huggles to you and the family..

I expect others will love this game! But I agree with Basilica on this one. Game looks amazing in the pictures. When I watch the video, there's too much going on at once - mostly the continuous streams of "bullets" flying everywhere. It's not how fast or slow I play, it's how much do I need to keep track of on the screen. I skip most games like this, my mind is just not fast enough to track all that motion plus the background scene moving as well. That's not relaxing for me.

Very good to see the developer is responding to comments. Just for that, I will give this a good try when the weekend arrives. I might enjoy it!

Mr.Dave, Well you have to understand about the videos... we have to cut and splice the vids to show action. We have a very short window to capture the attention of a prospective player. The game is designed to play at your own pace. A better gameplay vid is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKTw9AP6F-4 Thank you for your comments.

xavier, Thanks. I looked at the video in your link, saw more of the same: lots of stuff flying through the air at once. But I appreciate your persistence. I installed and ran the game (instead of waiting for the weekend) and worked through the tutorial section, stopped when I got to all the shops. So far it's very enjoyable, I'm looking forward to trying it some more this weekend. I like the different "weapon" types, since they add some strategy. It looks like there are many different quests as well. Graphics are cool, control (keyboard & mouse) works well. I'd like to be able to use the scroll wheel on the mouse to select the different weapons, rather than take my right hand off the arrow keys or my left hand off the mouse. Music is good (no dreadful "chiptunes"). Otherwise, game is good so far. Thank you!

It's definitely very old zelda type with minimum mouse abilities and us oldies would need to write down the keyboard controls in order to play it (sorry I have been playing WOW for too many yrs so going back to keyboard is a bit hard on the old brain). I couldn't find any options to get out of full screen mode which is not a good thing for me as I have a number of reminders and messages that need to let me know they need my attention. I will keep it and play it later when its been developed a bit more

craftingrama, You know what... you have brought up a good point and i will put in a 'windowed' option for the display. And yeah we are trying to go old school when games were just.... FUN.

I haven't downloaded this one, but the artwork is very good - bright, clear and colourful. I suspect it's a bit fast-moving for my elderly eyes, so I'll pass - but for younger visitors it looks worth a go.

Reply   |   Comment by Basilica  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Basilica, but you haven't tried it yet. you can play this as fast or as slow as you want.

xavier, I'll have another look presently! You arm-twister, you . . .

Basilica, If you do... I will name something after you in our game. :) I hope you enjoy it.

xavier, Okay . . . I've had a go! It's definitely worth a shot for younger players, and so far the only things that get killed are the chests full of treasures. That's always a big plus point. I haven't gone very far with it - an oldie like me has so many other things taking up our time! - so I haven't tried out all the different hotkey extras yet. There's a bar along the bottom that shows you which does what, which is helpful - and you can close that once you become an expert.

The music is designed to keep you moving - driving music, I think I'd call it - but I haven't tried to change it. Usually my computer is silent anyway, so I probably wouldn't have it on when playing for real. It's not impossibly intrusive, though, not so far.

When you start the game you have several choices. If you are already known, you can simply sign in with your username and password. If not, you can start a new account - or, if you're not sure you'll be back, you can enter as a guest, with no signing required. This is an excellent choice if you're new to the whole idea, and don't want to give out your name and e-address, not until you feel comfy there.

The game itself is very nicely illustrated - overall it's been well thought out and constructed, and I'm sure it will appeal to lots of fans of new and older types of game.

Well done to X and Z - and thank you for a game which is fun and interesting to explore!

Basilica, This game didn't work for me. I need to enter my user name and password everytime i want to play the game. Which i think is not practical, because not everyone has an access to Internet.
Although the visual is really enticing and colourful. The mouse responds to every click, however the sound goes off, everytime i play this game. I have restart everytime when this happens. So i cannot use or play this game as previous giveaway.
I wish it wasn't like that, anyways i am open to any game that Giveaway team has to offer. This todays one didn't work for me. I am about to restart my PC as i write this.
I think OP will like it, but to enter username and password is silly in my mind, when i think. Its not so awesome kind of game that requires it.
Thank you.

Snakeman, the login issue of having to input username and password every time has been fixed and will be in today's update. Sorry you felt that way about it but that's why we put in the 'play without login' button to bypass that. If you revisit that link tonight and reinstall the game you will just have to do it once. I would love it if you came on to discord https://discord.gg/Bv6equE and talked with us and describe this sound issue because it is the first we have heard of it. If not thats cool also, i just want to thank you for giving us a try and hope you find a game out there that you love.
