Every day we offer FREE licensed software you’d have to buy otherwise.
Foxy Jumper 2: Winter Adventures was available as a giveaway on December 9, 2007!
It's Foxy Winter in Foxy World - a perfect time to get ready for the winter holidays, dress up beautiful Christmas tree and get a few gifts for friends. But, as usual, there are some mean monsters that don't like holidays and will do whatever it takes to ruin fun for everybody else.
Don't let these fiends destroy the holiday season by helping Foxy and his girlfriend pick up all gifts on each level. And don't forget the star that will go atop the Christmas tree.
Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP

this game is tragic. the jumping physics made this unplayable. it was unpredictable and irrational, platforms are based on jumping and this key aspect was sorely unproffesionally executed. Alawar should not have their names attached to this title, it dilutes their otherwise good name.

"Hey, all you free game appreciators out there… here’s the secret. Just totally ignore the “whiners” and don’t give them the attention they seek and chuckle and gloat and swell over. After all, this is the only place they can GET attention, so let them whine and ignore it. Take away their pacifier. Maybe they’ll get a life elsewhere. If you don’t feed the flame, they’ll wimper and sulk and everything else that turns them on… but perhaps they’ll move on to another site to get their kicks."
If people are only allowed to gush over the software's nonexistant price tag, then what are comments for?

Debbie Gray,
Get real.
This site won't close down and depriving you of your daily dose of shareware games just because someone points out that the games they are getting to put up are at times crappy.
Even if it did then the fact remains that you would still be able to download the shareware games as before with the only drawback that it would stop to work once the grace period was over. In most cases this would still mean that you could play the game half a dozen times from start to finish.
This site is not a secret. The people who make it and the people who offer games here know what they got into. They are big boys and girls. Big enough to normally ask for your hard earned money and therefor big enough to take honest appraisal of their products.

I for one am curious to see when there will be a game offered here that isn't a slighty altered version of a game that was new way back in the 80's. The only difference being that instead of 200KB they now are so badly programmed that they need 7MB and most of the time can't be bothered to have mouse controls or halfway decent responsive key controls.
Look at the graphics and you can see that the only ones it can appeal to are either very young children and/or adults whom had a frontal lobotomy or just are in need of something utterly brainless to zoink out with.
Of the 30 comments that are up at the moment there are less then 5 that actually gave any kind of review of the game. There are a couple that actually review the offer in comparison to what one could or should be entitled to expect for something that is sold for 20 USD in this day and age. There are a lot more comments on here by people that would bend over backwards and be thankfull for a 5 Terra Byte monochrome Pac-Man clone with faulty collison detection.
What is most sad to see is the fact that the usual bunch of freeloaders, brown nosers, holier then thou, foaming at the mouth complainers who can't deal with people not standing in awe with this, or any other of it's ilk, game.
There are those that will comment on those of us not liking the game and stating that those that don't like it should just shut up. Considering that the object of this section is to comment on the game, good or bad, that is weird.
People such as, bluegirl - Aimee P - Kelene Neitzel - Jebadia - Sergio should take their own advice and just shut up and ignore those comments that they don't like. They also should get out more and learn what 20 USD is worth and what kind of really well conceived and developed games one can buy for that price.
Look at comment 25 by moo, now that is a comment that is truthful, honest and clearly formulates that this game still has problems even although it's been around for a while now.

I would like to thank "Game Giveaway of the Day" for all the FREE games they have given. Most of us that come to this site very much appreciate what we are getting. I always check the comments before i download a game for the constructive comments. Generally i find a lot of good information. I have to say though, i am so tried of those few (you know who you are) who do nothing but whine and complain. It is one thing to tell everyone that there is malware or problems associated with the game, but it is entirely different, to just sit and gripe for the sake of it because you don't like today's choice of FREE game. Come on you bunch of unappreciative clods if the game choices are so bad, don't come back. Other wise shut you mouth or you will ruin a good thing for all of us who enjoy what we are getting!

So? That doesn't make these horrible games any better.

No, we're showing our hate for these pieces of garbage so that the site offers good games again.
"I appreciate everything GOTD passes along, whether I need it or not. As do the other members of my family."
You sound like the kind of person who would eat a plate of dirt if someone served it to them for free.

That really didn't make any sense.

OOPS..it was the Magic Tea that was compared to Zuma...but I do like the ball breaking games very much also. I've been very satisfied with those 3 games that I have gotten so far and look forward to seeing whats offered each day.

Though this game does look real cute, I don't think I'll get it, only because I'm not into the platform games so much. I prefer the games like Hyperballoid and Cubozoid. I downloaded them BECAUSE they were compared to Zuma, which I have had for years and play it often. I appreciate Whiterabbits comments very much and do partially base my decision on whether or not to try a game after reading his comment on it. I too, can not believe how much complaining I see on here about the types of games or them being offered more than once. For people like me, who only recently heard of this site, hope for some of the games to be offered again. I appreciate this service you are offering GGOTD, thank you much!

for those who have a problem with "kid's" games or platform games, or really any specific genre- just don't download the game!
it amazes me how people can take the time to complain about a free gift.
i'm also not crazy about every game that is offered, but i check it out and pass if i'm not interested. it's impossible to please everyone.
i for one really appreciate the opportunity to receive software that is new and free. thank you gaotd!
i also really appreciate whiterabbit's reviews. thank you for taking the time to give me all the info i need to make a quick decision on whether or not to download. (it is completely beyond me that someone could possibly complain about another person doing something nice for other people-i mean, really, how does it affect your life at all?!?)
i'm tired of seeing people complain day in and day out. if you don't like a game, a comment explaining why is great-it helps someone decide if a game is for them (just like whiterabbit's reviews).
but please stop lashing out at gaotd and alawar (or whatever company) who are nice enough to be offering something for free!
sorry-i just needed to vent a little.

I was actually a little disappointed with this game, probably because I played the excellent Snowy download from yesterday. This game is like an inferior clone -- it's the same platform jumping sort of gameplay, where you run around and collect things, but it's missing all of the things that made Snowy so much fun. I didn't try the two-player mode, but I am glad to see the feature included, even if the game itself is lousy.
I'm not sure if the developers / publishers read these threads or not, but if so, here are some things that need work in a game like this:
ANIMATION
Foxy's animations need to be slowed down and varied. Stand still for even a split second and she's sitting there, tapping her foot impatiently. What's more, the animation looks terrible, like it's been sped up, because there are too few frames in it.
Also, the animation glitches a lot in this game because there aren't a lot of smooth transitions in Foxy's movements. I was able to use some of these glitches to cheat, getting up onto platforms more easily than I should have by double-jumping.
GRAPHICS
The pre-rendered characters are very inconsistent; some look rendered, while others look hand-drawn. I'm guessing both were recycled from other games. It looks terrible.
CONTROL
Foxy's control is too loose; her jumping doesn't feel tight and she moves too quickly. I often overshot what I was trying to hit. Any platform game developer trying to make a fun jumper needs to spend more time with SUPER MARIO BROS., which remains the best platformer ever made. You can jump far and high in that game, but you're always in control of Mario's movement. I felt that Foxy moved too quickly and that her jumping lacked finesse once you got her off the ground.
GLITCHES
This game is extremely buggy. I often got stuck on moving platforms and had to reset Foxy's animations by throwing nuts so I could move again. Also, the "BONUS" counter does not always keep track of what letters you have, and you wind up getting useless duplicates. Some of the enemies got stuck in the walls. Sound effects would sometimes play for no reason.
DESIGN
If Foxy can leave the left boundary of the screen and show up on the right, why can't her enemies? Why can't her nuts? Why can't her bonuses? This is very inconsistent. I much preferred Snowy's "tubular" world design with big maps than Foxy's single screen maps.
Also, while the game gets quite challenging in the later levels when one-hit kills are possible, the game never leaves the single screen format and starts to feel crowded as a result. You get into a routine of "kill the enemies first, then collect the treasure," but unless the ghosts, springs or spikes are around, there's little challenge once the enemies are dead.
SOUND/MUSIC
As with many of these budgetware titles, the sound design is the worst aspect of the game. The music is the same 4 bars of "jingle bells" repeated over and over, and Foxy's little quips are terrible. Note to platform game developers: both Mario and Sonic had ZERO voice acting until they went 3D. Follow that trend.
Overall, I'd give this game a 5/10 for its bugginess and its half-baked design. I can't imagine I'd ever buy it.

Thanks, GGAOTD... I enjoy the platforms when I'm in lazy mode. Having the same problem as #14, tho... Foxy sticks to the moving platform and can't jump off or move forward. Maybe there's crazy-glue on that thing, lol. She'll jump only sometimes, and I can't see a pattern to it. Otherwise, her tennis shoes are stuckeroo. Anyone else have this prob?

Hi qb 7894 with respect to your question. It really does depend upon each persons preference. I cannot advise on such a choice because I never got into using a game pad. The nearest I’ve ever got to a game pad is a Wolf King Warrior keyboard, that’s circular in design and made for First Person Shooters, but even that I find hard to use because during the console era, I refused to buy one and kept up with my early 286, then 386 then 486 computers. So I’m totally used to using the keyboard.
The only thing I can suggest is that you go to a games store or a computer hardware store who have display models and try out a game pad and see if it suits you. Today’s gamepads have been ergonomically designed, so I’m sure you could find one that works for you. It’s probably my stubborn resolve to remain console less that I’m never any good at most games, lol. (Although as part of the Childrens package of presents I am getting a Wii for them this Christmas, even though I hate having to purchase games that will only play on the Wii. I really dislike the plethora of different game consoles although I do appreciate that it’s good competition.
Paul; with respect to typing out today’s review. The bulk of it was actually a copy and paste from the last Foxy Jumper 2 giveaway (which I did say in the blurb leading up to the proper review. It was posted in a hurry though as I wanted to go back to bed, so it may not have been obvious). Though when I write a review I make no distinction anyway.
Apart from a few obviously designed for children games such as Bratz, Barbie, Thomas the Tank engine, Barney and Pokemon, {none of which have been given away here} most games that have been given away here in my opinion are not Children’s games, but Family games. I’ve had some excellent times playing some of the games, such as Zak and Jack, a couple of the Brave Dwarves games as well as a whole bunch of others that have had complaints of being to childish. I appreciate that we all have different attitudes and likes towards most games, so there will rarely be agreement between everyone. I’m sorry you feel that most of these games are too childish even for your 8 year old. I don’t know what you think are suitable for him. Perhaps you should (if you haven’t already) make some suggestions over on the forums as there is a thread specifically dedicated to games and software that you’d like to see:
http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/forums/topic/1450?replies=283
I know my 8 year old son has loved virtually every game that has been given away. And most of his friends who visit the house almost on a daily basis think the games are cool. For example a quirky platform game called Professor Fizzwizzle, which has a levels editor and most of his friends (all 8 to 9 year olds) love making their own levels. Many of the games he’s finished easily (as kids seem to be able to), and he’s never complained that they are too childish, or for the younger ones. Other he’s not bothered about but I have never heard him say that’s too childish, or that’s for babies. I doubt that many kids under 5 or even 6 would be able to cope with the controls of many of these games simply because of developmental growth of the child. So by necessity most would have to be played by an adult for the child anyway, which in my view is a great form of interaction with your children (but obviously not the only one).
I’m sure some of the games will please you and your son, unless all you like is the $50 to $70 game styles, which definitely would never be given away here as this seems to me to be an arcade giveaway site, even though it says game. I’m not trying to be clever or put you down in any way Phil as you as well as me are both entitled to our own opinions and I do respect yours. :)
Joyce C comment #12 good point, :)
Keep up the good work Game giveaway team. It’s a shame though that you don’t have more moderators as most of the posts people make over the weekend probably never get read. I know you need a break as well, but it still seems silly to close it off in such a way. I forced myself to get up so that I could post a reasonable review yesterday and this morning despite needing several hours more sleep. If I knew the posts were going to be moderated later in the day I wouldn’t need to. Stillwe should be thankful that the Admin provide the games. Moderators get all the flak it seems to me. :(

Here's an idea: Why don't you hook up with LOCKETT so you can cry in each others' arms? Think about it - you're both here every day. You're both lonely little boys who feel you're owed something by people who work for a living. And you're both easily moved to tears.
Strange how someone so immature can complain about a game being childish. Get a life, loser.

On the last Foxy I would get stuck on the moving platform that has the little fan on it & would have to wait up to 3 minutes before it would let you jump off. There wasn’t much said actually except for some petty bickering about there not being enough ‘adult’ games, which we will no doubt here from a few today. No names mentioned of course.
In my opinion this is another good platform game, which I know my kids enjoyed last time around, although they didn’t finish it. It will be staying on my computers this time around. Here’s what the read me has to say:
Program description:
Foxy Jumper 2 Winter Adventures - the long awaited sequel to the popular arcade featuring a fox cub that couldn't stop jumping. The objective is still the same (get to the door), but it's not as easy as in the first game. Now the door is locked and you are to collect all treasures on the level before the key appears. Plus, there are more opponents now and they are much smarter. But don't worry, Foxy has nuts he can through at his enemies.
To read the rules to the game see the "Help.html" file. Which can be found in the main games folder.
Hardware requirements:
Pentium I or higher
64 MB RAM
DirectX compatible with 1MB of memory and 800x600x16bit resolution
Windows 98, 2000, XP
DirectX compatible sound-card
The game is basically the same as Foxy Jumper 2 that was given away a few weeks ago. It has the same menus and power ups, except it has a seasonal feel to it. So I thought I might as well copy over the review from then rather than spend a cople of hours rewriting it. I’ve edited out parts of it though :)
Check out the googled images for an idea as to what the game looks like:
http://images.google.co.uk/images?hl=en&q=Foxy+Jumper+2%3AWinter+Adventures&btnG=Search+Images&gbv=2
It definitely looks like a cool platform game at first glance, plenty of power ups and colourful animations, the options menu is basic, with the usual music and sound sliders and key binding mapping for two players; which is a good addition for a family game. My children often love to play two player games when we have the time, so this is an added bonus; unfortunately it doesn’t have mouse controls.
After playing through the first 8 levels quite fast, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. There are enough bonuses, monsters and special items, as well as bonus levels, to make this a game with plenty of replayability. The characters have a cartoon theme that will certainly endear the game to the young ones; but I don’t think the game would be restricted to the kids simply because there’s more than just collecting a few treasures and jumping from one platform to another (although it is one of the main features lol.
There are four special items that are positive in nature, that is the portal, which leads to bonus levels; see the images by following the link below to my photo bucket account for details. When you pass into a bonus level, which can be any time during a level, you will know immediately s the background changes significantly. My first (and only encounter so far was in level seven, which took me to what I initially thought was level 8, but I knew it couldn’t be because I’d not collected the key to escape level seven yet. Once I’d collected all the treasure from the bonus level, I wasn’t sure how to return, however after about a minute I was returned to the level I’d not finished.
There’s a jackpot item that is a simple slot machine. Whenever you score three of the same you get a shower of coins that can be collected for extra points.. Finally there’s a lamp that turns the light off. I didn’t get the significance of this because I didn’t, come across it during the 8 levels I played.
Besides the special items there are eight bonus items which include:
1) Tornado; which makes you invulnerable from the monsters missiles or via contact with the monsters.
2) Speedy shoes; that enable you to move at lightning speed
3) Magic Potion; that gives you the touch of death
4) Hard Hat that makes you invulnerable to parrot eggs that are thrown at you sometimes.
5) The Ghost; that helps you to pass through walls and platforms
6) The Magic clock; freezes everything but foxy
7) The Bomb; kills all monsters on the level at the time
8 ) The Heart; need I explain, lol
There are several monsters and other objects that can impede your progress through the levels, for example the yellow ghost (you can’t mistake this for the bonus ghost) will steal some of the treasure you’ve collected and return it to where it was originally taken from. The Trompert (spelled correctly) throws projectiles at you, e.g. parrot eggs. Storm clouds try to electrocute you as they pass over where you may be standing, so don’t stand about while these are floating about. There are also treasure chests that try to bite you. Again, you can’t confuse these with the treasure chests you collect as they are bigger, move around and have an evil look about them All of the treasure chests must be killed and all of the treasure collected before you can progress to the next level. You will also come across boss monsters that try to follow you around, however up to level 8 at least; these were restricted to the ground level. There are also orange bombs that are not to be confused with the bonus bombs despite having a smile on their faces as they will lose you a life. Thankfully there are lots of lives to pick up in the early levels. You can access any level in sets of 8. It looks like they get steadily harder as they progress, so it would be advisable to save as many lives as possible by collecting the hearts as they appear. Watch the sides of the playing area for these, as it’s an easy place to miss. When killing some of the animals such as mice and what could be storks or flamingos’ you can sometimes pick up letters, which go towards spelling the word BONUS . Completing this will give you a bonus. The first and only time so far completing this gave me loads of stars, each one worth points
The game is controlled by the keyboard or a key pad, with six keys required. Four for movement one for firing and one for pausing the game, which brings up the options menu as well as an option to end the game or return to where you left off. From the options menu you can change the key bindings for both players. If you select a single player game you can actually bring in a second player by clicking on the second players fire key, which by default is the left Ctrl key. Bonuses are dropped onto the platforms by the balloon that you see floating around. Once a bonus has been dropped it seems to be indestructible. I didn’t want to wait more than about a minute to see if it disappeared, which I thought was ample
Overall I’d give this game 6.5 out of 10 or maybe a 7 if you have children. It’s cute and easy to play, but there’s enough going on and later levels are a little harder to progress through. There is no save facility.
==========================================
If you like platform games here’s a freeware platform game called Adams Family, I’ve downloaded a few titles from the ‘free downloads’ centre and have not had any problems so far with malware, however ensure you have your pop up blocker activated before downloading this program though as my blockers did inform me several times that pop ups had been blocked.:
p.s.
If this is basically Foxy Jumper 2 with snow you will find that the second player will appear when playing the one player game if you click on the second players fire button. You can always change the key binding of the fire button for the second player to somewhere on the keyboard that isn’t likely to get pressed by mistake.

This is basically the same garbage that we got yesterday, except with worse graphics, horrible music, even easier difficulty, and a politically correct "Happy Holidays" balloon. And the protagonist is twice as obnoxious, if that's even possible. Avoid at all costs.
