This has never been given away before. :)

Unfortunately I'm extremely busy at the moment with pre Christmas preparations etc, so probably won't get any time to play the game enough to post a review. It's been in the admin's list for over a week, but it wasn't available as a download from the vendors site, so was only available free on the day of the giveaway. From the screen captures above it looks like one of those fast paced futuristic racers with a vague similarity to the Trackmania games, though you cannot create your own racing tracks in Wind Racers. (see my second comment below for a link to a free version of Trackmania).

I finally installed the game very late afternoon and played a short session and found it to be a little difficult staying on the track; other vehicles could also knock you off the track if you were hit by them. There are power ups to pick up, but I would avoid the speed up power up unless you've adjusted the keyboard sensitivity. Mine was set to approx' three quarters and I felt it needed to be adjusted lower as turning often saw me crashing into the barriers and inevitably leaving the track. With a little practice, this is probably worth persevering with and looks like a decent indie racing game worth having in your games library.

It's not in the same league as the big boy AAA racers like Assetto Corsa, The Crew, the Dirt and F1 franchises, Project Cars 2 etc, but it is well made and has plenty of options to adjust the game.

Notes on Security

I scanned a zipped copy of the installed game using Virus Total and it found 4 hits (VBA32, Jiangmin, Microsoft & McAfee) from 59 antimalware engines. Despite two of the hits coming from well known anti malware engines i.e. Microsoft and McAfee, It's still very likely to be a false positive. I've installed it and got no warnings from my security.

The downloaded executable 'may' include some low level adware that opens your browser to TooMKY Games home page after the game has installed and may place some shortcuts onto your desktop; these can be safely deleted once the game has installed.

The installation does NOT inject any malware into your system. When your browser is opened to TooMKY Games home page following the games installation, it earns TooMKY Games games some money, part of which is given to the developer of the game for allowing the game to be given away free. The giveaway version of TooMKY games version has had most of the adware disabled.

You can see the results of the scan via the following link:

Stay safe everyone.

Don't forget to check the daily freebies via Epic over the Christmas period, see my comment below for details.

Whiterabbit-uk,

Other Free Games:
Please check Delenn's threads over in the giveaway forums HERE and HERE for the latest non Steam and Steam freebies. Also for the latest Steam sales check THIS Steam database site out. You can list the games in 'price' & 'percentage off' by clicking the headers. If you link SteamDB with your Steam account, all games that you already have will be highlighted in green. When there are Steam games being given away, you'll see 100% off.
Ashampoo-Snap-02-December-2021-02h42m28s-023
Don't forget to check Indie Gala's freebie section HERE, then click on the Showcase header, selecting freebies from the drop down menu; recent additions include North and the full version of Die Young; we were previously given the prologue version, (which is still available free) Recent games such as Distortions, Dino Run DX, Cheap Golf, Kill Em All, Dead Hungry Diner and Contract with the Devil have now been removed. All remaining freebies can be found in the showcase section (around 100 are available). Not all games that go into the showcase remain free, so you should grab them as soon as you can.

Over the Christmas period Epic games are giving away a game every day . A new mystery game will go live at 11am Eastern/4pm UK time each day. The deals are live for 24 hours only, so check the site everyday HERE to see if it's a game you fancy.
I'm going to leave each days game showing so that you can see what was available:
Shenmue 3 17th December.
Neon Abyss 18th December
Remnant: From the Ashes (live at the moment - a procedurally generated third-person atmospheric survival action shooter set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by monstrous creatures. As one of the last remnants of humanity, you’ll set out alone or alongside up to two other players to face down hordes of deadly enemies and epic bosses, and try to carve a foothold, rebuild, and then retake what was lost.
If anyone has TheHunter on Steam; or who got the game via Epic when it was free some weeks ago) and is interested in playing some co-op with me, please leave a message in the thread I posted over in the forums HERE; I'll then contact you via the email you've used for your forum sign in and I'll send you a link to my Discord channel and make some arrangements to play. I've been playing the game regularly since June this year (accruing over 600 hours of game play). I've found playing with friends much more enjoyable. If you are new to the game and are maybe shy online, then I will help you get to grips with the game I've always been quite shy when online and always treat people with respect. I don't swear and conversation is usually just about the game.
The best Indie Bundles sites that have been operating from around 2011 are the Humble Bundle and Indie Gala sites (though the latter isn't as good as it used to be) where you'll sometimes find decent bundles with over 90% off the usual price of the games included in the bundles. The Humble site is in my opinion the best. A more recent addition that is worth checking out are the Fanatical bundles (that used to be called Bundle Stars) that you can find HERE.

Also available free at the moment over on GOG is Cave Story®'s Secret Santa (when I first posted this last week, it wasn't actually available; you will need to revisit the page to claim the game if you tried grabbing it last week).

Press any Button is 100% off at the moment on Steam HERE. Also available for free (always) on Steam is TrackMania Nations Forever, which I implied has some similarities to todays game giveaway. It's actually nothing like Trackmania apart from the zany track layouts.

As part of Ubisofts 35th anniversary, they are now giving away Rayman Origins; grab it HERE gab it while you can. You do need a free uPlay account to get the game. Once added to your uPlay account, it's yours to keep.

Was happy to read that. I know you have had some health issues, and that you now are able to return to good things, with hopefully the bad ones behind you. Have always enjoyed and appreciated your reviews.

Hey Wabbit,

I did get that game yesterday but didn't get a chance to play it. I am taking today off so I am not playing anything to annoy me. We got our boosters today so just vegging. But I got a question. I see you used a keyboard. Any chance of it working with a controller?

Take care and be safe.

delenn13,

Hi Delenn, I'll check to see if a controller works once I've fed the rabbit. Seems like a better way to play the game as I found the keyboard a little hard. Check back later.

later ........ Sadly the controller doesn't work. At least my PC {Microsoft X Box) controller doesn't work with the game at all. That said, there are software's that enable a controller to emulate a keyboard, but the name of the one I am thinking of escapes me. Looking online there's one called reWASD that may do the trick. It's a free download from HERE

How to Geek also posted a piece on how to remap any controller to keyboard keys. You'll find that article HERE (looks promising)

I downloaded and checked the reWASD file for malware and all came back clean. You can see the result via the link below.

Regarding your booster I hope you and your hubby don't suffer the same reaction I did after getting both the Covid booster and a flu jab a few weeks ago. I was totally incapacitated for days.

Whiterabbit-uk,

I have some software on ONE of my spare drives too that does that. And, of course, i can't remember either. I will check that other one out. It's not for me. I want to cast it to our big screen TV for the hubby. So I don't know if it will work or not.

Yea, I don't know what you doctor was thinking to give you both jabs at once. We have had sore arms, a bit swollen and a little tired is all so far.

How come the giveaway email arrives so late these days? And then we only have a few hours to grab the giveaway before it reverts back into trial software?

Gary,

Hi Gary, I stopped relying on the email years ago. Depending on what part of the world you live in the games always go live at a specific time; in the UK it's 8am during the winter and 9am during the summer. I usually check over breakfast. When the giveaways first started back in October 2006 (games site started Dec 2006) it would be a nice surprise to check over my breakfast coffee. I found a mild excitement at what the site was going to offer next. Back then I think the giveaways were much better, but that may just be my fading memory. :)
