My fault, I've been so busy with family and more importantly, fixing my main computer, which I'm happy to say I finally got to boot up properly for the first time since early July last night (Friday 26th). I had to replace the motherboard, then once that had been accomplished I discovered that not only had the Motherboard been damaged, the graphic card had as well. It has cost me well over £800 buying second hand components to repair the thing (graphic cards, motherboard and a commercial copy of win 10 becasue the version I originally had installed was the free version, which is no longer available. I can't believe how much some vendors are charging for the OS now.)

I'll contact him later today once I've sorted out today's and tomorrows reviews and moderated. If Anton reads this, sorry for the delay. I get a lot of spam on the email I gave you, so easily miss posts from individuals.

Somehow users reported about duplicated keys. I really don't understand, how it happened, I rechecked the keys sent to Giveaway Of The Day, and they should be legit. But in order to avoid possible problems, I sent fresh bunch of 5000 keys to giveaway team.

Hi Anton, thank you for responding to the communities queries. I too haven't received a key despite completing the tasks. I already purchaseed the game via steam when it was released last September, but wanted a key for my son who loves interactive visual novels. I've just purchased Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma for him which he's playing at this very moment. He hasn't set up a gamegiveaway profile so I said I'd get him a key.

Hi Anton, I'm the moderator on this site. Delenn suggested that you get an interpreter to sort out some of the mistakes in the games text. I've helped out a previous developer who gave away a game with a lot of grammatical and spelling errors several years ago. They uploaded an editable copy of the game that i was able to download and I wasthen able to correct many of the grammatical and spelling errors, as well as replace many of the words for more appropriate ones.

If you wish, I offer my services 'for free' and would also consider checking your latest game Return of Red (Riding) Hood for grammer/spelling etc.

I am retired due to a serious accident 11 years ago and have done a lot of beta testing for various indie developers (eg Alawar, Dejobaan Games, 2D Boy as well as for some of the bigger AAA developers and seveal game modders. We are already working with the native proofreader for our next game, The Barbarian and the Subterranean Caves, but Return of Red Riding hood and Wild Island Quest are indeed contain grammatical & spelling errors in the text. Wild Island Quest

In Brief

Wild Island Quest is an interactive visual novel about the adventures of a group of teenagers on a dangerous island. There are 5000 Steam keys up for grabs with two tasks to complete i.e. vote for the Return of Red Riding Hood Enhanced Edition via Steams Greenlight project and share this giveaway on Facebook to gain access to the key. There are two language options English and Russian.

Installation:

Once you've received your steam key log into your Steam client then click on the Games link located along the top of the Steam client. From the drop down menu select 'Activate a Product on Steam....' This opens up an activation window. Click on Next, then I agree (to the Steam subscribers agreement, then paste your Steam key into the product code field, then click on Next. The game will now be available to install and play; and is permanantely tied to your Steam account.

You can go to the Wild Island with the main characters and delve into a deadly adventure. Take one or a few friends with You, but keep in mind that all characters have their strengths and weaknesses, so the end of your journey will depend on your choice. The Game:

Wild Island Quest is a choose-your-own story visual novel. You live on Mech-City Island and the time has come for Wild Island to come close. You are Henry and you’ve decided to gather up your friends and head to this island and see what’s there.

You have the choice of which of your friends you want to visit to see if they’ll join on your quest. Depending on the actions you take, you can get more people to join up with you. Take too long with one person and that’s all you’ll have with you. You can get some other weapons to bring with you depending on who you take as well.

I've not played the game long enough to give it a decent review. I purchased this game when it was released last September, but because of a massive backlog of unplayed games (I have well over a thousand Steam games and others yet to play) I'd only booted this game up to get the Steam trading cards and haven't as yet bothered to play it. If you are into acheivements this game has 10 of them with titles like 'Boogeyman' where you have to arouse mortal fear in your enemy; 'Survivalist' where survival in the jungle is not an issue for you and 'Read the Books' , where you actually read the in game books.

The English text translations aren't perfect, but you should still get the gist of what is being conveyed; so, unless you are a language purist, the translation hopefully won't annoy you too much, for example the use of discriminate instead of differentiate.

The game starts with the following information (I've edited it in parts) - This interactive visual novel has simple rules. There are no strength or stamina points awarded to your characters because all of your heroes are youths, and are unlikely to achieve success simply by brute force. Instead luck is the attribute used to determine your's and your companions abilities, because luck influences everyones life.

To find out how lucky you are, the program will automatically roll a dice. If you aren't happy with the lucky number you are given, you can re-roll it again by clicking on the link at the bottom left of the game -play area. Once you've accepted the roll, and started the game , the number will be permanantely tied to the character you have chosen for the duration of that game. If you face any situations that involve luck, follow the on-screen instructions. The success of your quests depends on your actions and not on dice roll's, so make thorough preparations before you start your adventure by choosing your companions carefully. Each character has different attributes, so it is important to choose them wisely. Finally it is also important to remember that only one of your companions can select a useful item at the start of the game.

Conclusion:

My initial thoughs on this game are that it's an okay visual novel. The graphics are a little dated, but overall they are acceptable. I found the choices you could make at the start of the game were a little limited but as I've only started my first adventure, with only one companion, and died in the first few moments several times I'm not at liberty to make any more comments, at least until I've played (and survived) more of the game. For the price (i.e. £1.59/$1.99) it's okay, for free it's okay.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the NLB project for giving the community so many Steam keys which was very generous, good luck with your next game Return of Red (Riding) Hood. Also a big thank you to the game giveaway team, for providing a safe environment to download free games.

The latest free game over on Origin is still Nox. Nox is an action role-playing game developed by Westwood Studios and published by Electronic Arts in 2000 for Microsoft Windows. It details the story of Jack, a young man from Earth who is pulled into a high fantasy parallel universe and has to defeat the evil sorceress Hecubah and her army of Necromancers to return home. Depending on the player's choice of character class at the beginning of the game (warrior, conjurer, or wizard), the game follows three largely different linear story lines, each leading to its unique ending. If you've ever played the early RPG's such as Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale or the early Fallout series and liked them, you'll probably like this game as well. It's 16 years old now, but still looks pretty good for it's age. This type of game has held it's appeal and looks far better than the early first person games. I highly recommend it..

I'd like to give a massive thank you to Whizzy or Mavadelo (his Steam name), who has created a review site for me. I am talking to him via Team Speak over the coming months while he tutors me in the in's and out's of the site. The site won't go live right away as I want to post lots of game reviews. It will be a combination of arcade and AAA game reviews, some old and some new, divided into appropriate genres. We intend to avoid any advertising, so the site should be safe to peruse without worrying about clicking on links that may send you to rogue sites or ad's. I will also try to post reviews of new releases. At least those that I purchase. We also intend to include a free games section as well as regular game giveaways, though they won't be the same as what we get here on the game giveaway site becasue the games will be coming from my own personal stock of spare game codes. Most will be Steam codes, but I also have hundreds of other codes for Itch.io, Origin, uPlay and others.

Hi BluePanda, I too did'nt get a key; please check Antons replies and email him. You'll find his emails in some of the replies he made. Tell him the problem and i'm sure he will send you a vaild email. Do please be aware though that he will probably have received hundreds or more emails from giveaway users, so it may take time for a reply to be forthcoming.

okay i dont know what happened to your site but i cannot figure out how to download the game. i did the two steps i was asked to do and nothing happened. your site used to be an excellent place for games; easy to use and occasionally *awesome* games would be available to us; what happened?

Hi Jenny, you don't download the game from the game giveaway site. Once you've completed the two tasks an mail is sent to your email (the oe used to sign in). You should find a Steam key which you use ih conjunction with the Steam cleint..Check my review for details of how to activate the software. Once activated the game is permanantly associated with your Steam profile and you will be able to reinstall the game on any computer, at any time, for as long as steam exists

very short, not all achievements trigger correctly. However I played it trhough one time (the book achievement is the one that didn't trigger, have read all the books) and will play it again a few times to see what changes with other choices. Not bad, not bad at all

The book achievement is triggered by another condition. It is a spoiler, so I won't explain, which exactly, but I'm sure you'll find it very quickly on second playthrough. Just don't take Doyle or Irene with you and you won't miss it for sure :)

This sucks when I have to do the actions and not get the key. I followed your instruction. I prefer the old way where i just download and register. This is taking up too much of my time. Please point me to the location where I can get the key. This is ridiculous.

Michael, the key should be sent to your the email address you use to sign in to the game giveaway. If you completed the tasks but didn't get a key check through the developers replies below where you will find his email. He has been extremely generous and helpful and will probably send you a key personally so long as you explain the problem.

Thanks to Anton for helping me get a key. I sent him an email to the email address he provided and received a working key a short time later.
I use the game on my desktop running Windows 10 anniversary. Loads without any problem and plays well.
Others have mentioned a slight problem with the translation for the English version. I found it easy to ignore and not a detriment to playing the game. The game itself is unlike any other I have played. I think the graphics are great. The music gets slightly annoying but turning down the speakers helped. Also, the music changes with each scene which is nice. It's an easy game to grasp. I haven't discovered yet how to choose my friends to go with me; however, I did have one person along the first time I played it. I'm sure exploring more will reveal those answers to me. I got the lowest number possible on the dice for my luck number.... I will re-roll next time. With a 1, I didn't make it through my first night! With all the possible choices that you're presented with while playing, I can see not having the same outcome at the end of the game for a long time. A definite keeper for me and a genre of game I may explore more. Thanks again to the developer, Anton, for all of his help and sending me the key.

I agree with KE8PA. I've visited this site and the main site for many years and lately I'm wondering if its just a waste of time. I don't bother with anything that has a limited number of licenses or that requires one to click on facebook and then click on steam (which s-cks) and then find out there are more actions to take before you even get a key and it just gets worse from there (steam)....seems endless AND agravating. All it does is make you feel like a fool and ruin the day. I guess I'm getting old but I will not put up with the .... word removed by moderator due to inappropriatness...... . What is the difference between this and having someone knock on your door at dinner time wanting to sell you something? The person who created this game seems very nice and he's offering support. No problem there. This is not directed at him/her or at the great white rabbit. It's facebook and steam that are pulling this site into the mire. Not today thanks.

I am not in the least interested in maintaining a Facebook page (having already had one years ago, with annoying results) or a Twitter account (which I consider largely a waste of my time) and am unhappy about being penalized therefor. Why can't you offer a download link for people who are not Facebook- and Twitterphiles?

I'm sure most games will be tied to some form of platform in the years to come though I'm sure there will always be a small minority of indie developers who will try to release their games without DRM, but I doubt many will due to peer to peer sites etc.

Finally, even though things have changed significantly over the last six months, at least we are still seeing free gamew being given away here at the game giveaway project. Granted, we have to work a little for mosty of them now, but a few moments of time is usually all it's costing.

Thanks Cooper. I'm still a little jet lagged and shattered from a very eventful vacation. did a lot more than I'm used to so was usually exhausted by the end of each day. Fantastic holiday though. One of the best hotels i've ever stayed in due in part to the hotel staff, the fantastic rooms we had and the facilities at the hotel. It's definitely one of the best vacations i've had since my accident 11 years ago (apart from our trips to Egypt and Turkey). The Bulgarian people were fantastic. I highly recommend a holiday there. The Black Sea was warm and inviting. :)

Interesting game. They really need an interpreter..really, really bad. But my main gripe is...(unless I am really dense and don't see it) Why does the main character HAVE to be MALE? Game developers do this all the time. I am so sick of it.

Well, at least Irene is the girl, and you can recruit her to your team :)
The problem is in the fact, that our game so far are stories about the certain characters, and not about the Alter Ego of the player. For example, if you play The Witcher, you can play only for Geralt as the main character and so on.

Thanks for your reply. I have been coming here since 2006 and I can count on my right hand the number of game developers that actually participate in the comments. So thank you very much.

As far as Witcher and other games...I know..that is what I am complaining about. I don't want to apply lipstick, bake cakes or buy clothes. I like to shoot/blow stuff up as much as the next guy. :)

You must join me in a game of Left 4 Dead 2 or some other coop shooter. Do you have a copy of Men of Valor? It's one of my all time favorite shooters (bar the Battlefield and Men of Honor franchise's). The game is now 11 years old, and although a little dated, still looks and plays well. Some of the Jungle maps are brilliant. I have some spare copies so could gift you a copy, or if you prefer, send you a hard copy as I also purchased a job lot of them a few weeks before it was released on Steam. I bought 15 hard copies six months ago, which i'd intended sending out to friends, but then it was released on Steam a few weeks later. When it's on sale it's cheaper to gift directly via Steam than sending the hard copy, especially if it's an overseas address. Also the Steam copy has been updated to the latest version and includes the extra map pack, whereas the hard copies are version 1.0, so require the updates and map pack. :)

I'm unable to help. Hopefully one of the giveaway team will respond sometime today. Someone else has also reported a duplicate key. I suggest you take some screen captures showing the message telling you it's already been used and another one showing that you don't have the game in your Steam account.

Wild Island Quest is an interactive visual novel about the adventures of a group of teenagers on a dangerous island. There are 5000 Steam keys up for grabs with two tasks to complete i.e. vote for the Return of Red Riding Hood Enhanced Edition via Steams Greenlight project and share this giveaway on Facebook to gain access to the key. There are two language options English and Russian.

Tried to redeem code got message that key had already been activated, is there any way to get a good working key? I only have 1 steam & FB account so I can't do the tasks again.
