Weather Lord: Graduation is a resource time management game and I believe the eighth in the Weather Lord series. We’ve already been given at least three of the series. You can get six of the series via Steam (for cash) HERE and six via MyPlayCity (for free) HERE

Installation:

Weather Lord: Graduation downloads to a 183 MB zip file that unzips to three files, (a setup.gcd security wrapper, the set-up file and a read me). Those with multiple hard drives can save games on any drive they wish. For example if your C drive is a Solid State Drive (SSD) it's likly to be quite small by HDD standards so it's better to install your games on a different drive to your SSD. The newly installed game is 501 MB in size. The game installs to the following path by default, but can be changed by the user if you prefer:

C:\Program Files (x86)\MyPlayCity.com\Weather Lord - Graduation

Four shortcuts are installed to the desktop, three of which can be safely deleted (Play Online Games, MyPlayCity Games and shortcuts to a free online game which vary each week). Also, if you don't like icons installed to the quick launch task bar, make sure you uncheck the box when the additional tasks window appears (after the Select Start Menu Folder window)

Introduction:

Control the elements as you determine the destiny of a future queen in the game Weather Lord: Graduation! The legacy of the Weather Lord continues when the royal family prepares to pass the royal torch to their daughter Jenny. But before Jenny can rule, she must learn the basics! That day comes when pirates steal the Great Dragon's golden egg. Help Jenny and her mentor save the day before the beast unleashes the full fury of her wrath! You will guide Jenny and her workers as they battle pirates, trolls, and ice golems and repair the damage these ne'er-do-wells done. As you race to claim an ancient treasure before the buccaneers, you'll also gather resources, remove obstacles, and complete quests for peasants and fairies. In this game of unlimited imagination, you'll also search for an ancient artifact with a powerful secret, explore islands in the sky, and befriend giant turtles!

The Game:

Jenny was just accepted to the Royal University. That’s good news, because one day she’ll be queen, and she needs to know how to control the weather before she takes that role. The bad news is that just a few weeks later a disaster struck the kingdom. Jenny must learn the ins and outs of restoring the land as quickly as possible. If she doesn’t, the only thing she’ll be queen of is a smoldering pile of rock.

Weather Lord: Graduation is a casual resource management game set in a cartoonish fantasy kingdom. Your adventure takes you across the land where roads are blocked by several simple and complex obstacles. Piles of resources provide quick refills on food, wood, stone and gold, the four basic elements you’ll need to fix broken paths and clear debris out of the way. You can also build things like mines and sawmills to produce resources on a regular basis. Unlike most time management games, you must actively do something to make these buildings produce their product. That’s where the whole weather lording thing comes into play.

At the bottom of the screen you have a set of abilities represented by simple environmental icons. Click and drag one to use that spell on the map, shining sun on puddles to dry them up, rain on the farms to grow food, or even storms to chase off ne’er-do-wells. You can use them even when the path is blocked but watch those recharge times or you’ll find yourself in a bind.

On top of weather lording and resource hoarding you also have a set of unlockable skills. Completing levels and performing special tasks within those levels slowly builds your reputation. When you reach certain thresholds, you can unlock a new passive skill. These do things like help your weather abilities recharge faster, speed up worker speed, or even boost resources gathered from spots on the map. They make a surprisingly big impact on the game, so unlock wisely.

As Weather Lord: Graduation moves through the map you’ll encounter a few twists and turns in the gameplay. Merchants provide simple material trades for items you’ll need, for example, and some level goals require several steps to complete. The difficulty never climbs too high, keeping the experience casual and enjoyable from beginning to end.

Weather Lord: Graduation knows why we play resource management games. It’s not to get all stressed out over not having enough stone to repair the bridge. It’s about ordering our tasks, making new discoveries, and having a good time. Weather Lord is a playful and lighthearted take on the genre, and it’s just different enough from other resource management games to make it worth your time.

Conclusion:

Weather Lord: Graduation is an excellent Time/Resource Management game in the Weather Lord series with an excellent audio visual package, fun use of spells and weather effects and a cute and lighthearted atmosphere that is ideal for the whole family. It’s basically the same game play as previous Weather Lord games with a different storyline. Unlike most time management games, time isn’t as important as gathering the correct resources though there is a timed mode as well as a relaxed mode. If you are an experienced player you may find this game a little too easy.

The Weather Lord series is one of the few time-resource management games I enjoy playing (the other is the Farm Frenzy series). This is well worth downloading. Great for a rainy Sunday afternoon and fun to play as it's not as stressful as some TM games. The cartoonish graphics are great for the kids. 7.5 out of 10 for game play.

Having problems installing today's game?

If you have a problem installing or activating or getting Weather Lord: Graduation to work please visit the problems section, which you can find in the FAQ's thread HERE. Also read through the community’s comments because sometimes fixes have already been posted. The main issue we have is with the giveaway wrapper, which uses a Themida based code to protect the games executable. Unfortunately, Themida is also used to hide malware; so, as a precaution, some security software may block the installation and sometimes even delete the executable file. Blocking or deletion is usually determined partly by the way your computer is set up. Usually you'll get a message saying ''the file is corrupted'', but, the files are okay. There are a couple of things you can do to overcome this issue. The first is to reboot in safe mode with networking, install the game then reboot, or secondly you can (at your own risk) temporarily turn off your security, install the game, then turn your security back on. A note of reassurance to those that choose the latter and quicker method. The game giveaway team have been giving away games for over a decade (Dec 2006 & prior to that, via the main site 2 or 3 times weekly from Oct 2006 to Dec 2006) and have 'NEVER' given away a game infected with malware; they always test every giveaway with several of the top anti-malware suites to ensure all games are free from malware.
