Viking Brothers 2
In Brief
Viking Brothers 2 is the second of this series given away here. The first one was given away Jan 2016 HERE. It’s a time management/strategy game on the lines of Rescue Heroes, but loosely based on a Viking theme.

Viking Brothers 2 downloads to a 157 MB zip file that unzips to three files, (a setup.gcd security wrapper, the set-up file and a read me). Those with multiple hard drives can save games on any drive they wish. The newly installed game is 552 MB in size. The game installs to the following path by default, but can be changed by the user if you prefer:
C:\Program Files (x86)\MyPlayCity.com\Viking Brothers II
Four shortcuts are installed to the desktop, three of which can be safely deleted (Play Online Games, MyPlayCity Games and shortcuts to a free online game which vary each week). Also, if you don't like icons installed to the quick launch task bar, make sure you uncheck the box when the additional tasks window appears (after the Select Start Menu Folder window)

Join Viking brothers Everand and Boromere as they set off on an all-new, humor-filled adventure to right wrongs, do good and keep their tankards filled with ale. This won't be easy, as a mysterious force is forging a path of destruction across Earth and Asgard! But Viking strength and valor have never failed and neither will the brothers!
Guide Everand and Boromere with a few clicks of your mouse as they go up against pirates and trolls, rebuild villages, and bring their land back to glory. Enjoy the lively soundtrack, dozens of achievements, and captivating hand-drawn cutscenes, and the game Viking Brothers II becomes a journey you'll never want to end!

The Game:
One day many years ago, trouble came to the land of Vikings. Savages invaded the realm and destroyed the tree of plenty, leaving the people starving in their ruined villages. Two brothers picked up their horned hats and decided to do something about the situation. Now they’re on a quest to win back the favor of the gods and restore prosperity to their once happy kingdom.
Viking Brothers 2 is a resource management/strategy game that puts you in the old Norse inspired driver’s seat. Send workers out along the twisty roads to collect resources, remove obstacles, and repair buildings, all in the name of completing a set of goals and earning three stars at the end of the stage. Along the way you’ll pick up bonuses from gold-generating treasure chests, drive away wolves, help NPCs in need, and even fish for food like a true Viking.
The core of the Viking Brothers 2 gameplay revolves around amassing piles of wood, stone, gold, and food, all of which are required to do pretty much everything in the game. Some levels have regenerating piles of loot that deliver pieces every few seconds. Others require you repair and upgrade buildings to get all the resources you need. No matter the layout, Viking Brothers keeps the set-up straightforward and familiar. You won’t have to deal with mini-games or roundabout quests to progress from level to level. Just focus on queueing up tasks for your workers and the rest will fall into place.

Also, did you know Vikings used magic? These do, anyway! At the bottom of the screen a small meter slowly fills up as time passes. When the meter reaches an icon, that ability can be activated. These spells do simple but incredibly useful things like speed up your workers or offer a temporary resource bonus. Nothing that feels like cheating or that will change the course of play, but great extras when the going gets especially tough.
The Viking Brothers 2 experience is core resource management genre at its best. The focus never strays from the concept of working efficiently, even when new Vikings and surprise missions join the fray. The stages play out without any hitches, the difficulty rises on a gradual curve, and the variety of locations keeps things fresh long into the game. Viking Brothers 2 is a charmer from beginning to end, featuring a quirky story and tongue-in-cheek characters who never take things too seriously. Just the sort of resource management game to help you wind down after a long day.

If you enjoy playing games like Rescue Team franchise, Rescue Frenzy, Weather Lord franchise or New Yankee in Santa`s Service games you'll probably like this one as well. It's got the same strategic game play and resource management; the only difference is the Viking theme and some gorgeous environments to explore. I don't particularly like Time Management game because I play games to relax. TM games just aren't relaxing IMO; however, this type of TM game isn't as time oriented as say Gourmania, Ice Cream Mania or Beach Party Craze (other games we’ve been given in the past) so I find them okay in small doses (much like the Farm Frenzy games).

The game play is straightforward with quirky characters. These together with the cartoon like graphics would appeal to children and families in general. I’ve scored this virtually the same as the first one apart from a slight increase in the game play score.

• Game play: 7.5
• Graphics: 7.5
• Audio: 7
• Replayability: 6
• Originality: 6
• Fun Factor: 7

Total = 41 out of 60 which = approx. 6.8 out of 10.
If you miss today's game giveaway you can always get the game via MyPlayCity 24/7 HERE; or If you prefer to purchase the game you can get it directly from Steam HERE for £ (or approx. $) or Big Fish Games HERE

Having problems installing today's game?
If you have a problem installing or activating or getting Viking Brothers 2 to work please visit the problems section, which you can find in the FAQ's thread HERE. Also read through the community’s comments because sometimes fixes have already been posted. The main issue we have is with the giveaway wrapper, which uses a Themida based code to protect the games executable. Unfortunately, Themida is also used to hide malware; so, as a precaution, some security software may block the installation and sometimes even delete the executable file. Blocking or deletion is usually determined partly by the way your computer is set up. Usually you'll get a message saying ''the file is corrupted'', but, the files are okay. There are a couple of things you can do to overcome this issue. The first is to reboot in safe mode with networking, install the game then reboot, or secondly you can (at your own risk) temporarily turn off your security, install the game, then turn your security back on. A note of reassurance to those that choose the latter and quicker method. The game giveaway team have been giving away games for over a decade (Dec 2006 & prior to that, via the main site 2 or 3 times weekly from Oct 2006 to Dec 2006) and have 'NEVER' given away a game infected with malware; they always test every giveaway with several of the top anti-malware suites to ensure all games are free from malware.
If for any reason you want to contact the giveaway team, for example, if you have a problem getting the latest game or other issues that the FAQ's thread or these comments don't cover or solve or if you have a game to offer the community you can do so HERE

I downloaded this after I finished the first Viking Brothers. Just as good as the first.

Fast download, easy install on Windows7. I've played the first few levels and found it to be a solid TRM game with good graphics and gameplay. There's plenty of challenge for experienced players, and a relaxed mode for, well, relaxing. One thing I like about it is that the resources (like the farms and sawmills) replenish on their own - once you've built them they automatically add to your resource bar without interaction from you. Also, you can click on more tasks whether your worker is busy or not - helps to plan ahead.

It's a keeper for me. Thanks to GGOTD, MPC, and whiterabbit.

Not usually a TM fan either but excellent review prompted a try seeking something just a bit more engaging this time. Well hooray, on Win 10 x64 Pro & 24" monitor the graphics & humor showed right away in just the start I made before writing here.
Main fave is bubble busters, and those kind where you have to complete a moving screen that has liquid flowing and you have to think ahead channeling the stream. Requires breaking the barriers ahead quickly & properly. Like TM, that genre lets you just grab a level or two when only have a few minutes, not hours, especially in summer.
Thanks, Keeper. hope not a repeat since CAPTCHA choked.

What a simple and amusing game.
Playing field is nice and detailed as all Alawar games seem to be.
Great to have choice of timed or not timed.
Only addition I can think of is if there were more than 20 levels. It only took minutes to get to level 7 already.
Downloaded and setup quick on Windows 7. Didn't have to change resolution like on many of the older games given away in the last few weeks.
Thank you GOTD and whiterabbit-uk.
