Ultimate Puzzles Dogs:

In Brief:
Ultimate Puzzles Dogs is a simple 16 square piece's jigsaw puzzle with seven images (the most images in one of these games so far) and no lugs.

The Game:
Ultimate Puzzles Dogs is another of those jigsaw puzzles from UniDen with square shaped puzzle pieces that have no lugs. We get seven images to solve. The theme is dogs.

We've had several of these types of puzzle games previously from the developer UniDen including Cats, Cars 1, 2 & 3 as well as America, Countries, France, Nature, Nature 2, Animals 1, 2, 3 & 4, Marine Life 1 & 2, China and Japan. Uniden have also given us a few other non jigsaw games such as Knight's Tetris, Rockcar, Super Checkers, Rubix's Adventure and Legend of the Fallen Castle 1 & 2.

Each of the puzzles is made up of 16 square pieces. which are placed on a 4 x 4 grid i.e. 16 pieces. Most of the pieces are not oriented correctly, so you will need to change their orientation by clicking on the piece with the left mouse button. Each click turns the piece clockwise 90 degrees. To place a piece on the board use the left mouse button, grab then move to the grid section you think it belongs on. If it is correct it will lock in place; if it's the wrong place it will move to a random place on the periphery of the jigsaws grid. The addition of rotating the pieces and also placing them in different places each time you attempt to complete the puzzle adds to the difficulty slightly. Also, some pieces will overlap at the start of each attempt and in some cases totally obscure one or more pieces. You can restart any of the puzzles at any time by clicking on the back arrow.

All the puzzles are relatively simple. An adult could easily complete the whole game in around 10 to 15 minutes at the very least. I think the developer is asking far too much over on Itch.io for a jigsaw with only five puzzle images and with only a small 4 x 4 grid at $5 per game. If all of the series were to be combined, it would seem a fairer price. That said, there are free jigsaw programs available online that in my opinion are far better than today's jigsaw puzzle; (okay it's free today).

The giveaway team gave away a jigsaw puzzle called Infinite Jigsaw Puzzle on Feb 13th 2008 which allowed your own images to be added to the game; plus, it had several jigsaw shapes from complex lugged shapes to various geometric shapes (though no squares) and you could adjust the difficulty from around 25 pieces to over a thousand. You could also create categories to place your image as well. I've still got that puzzle and sometimes dip into it, with several hundred images added over the years since I've had it. I'd buy it from the original developer if I could find them (Media Research Group); basically as a thank you for such a great jigsaw game that I received for free and have had many hours of enjoyment from it over the intervening thirteen years.

Notes on Security
I scanned a zipped copy of the installed game and it found zero hits from 58 antimalware engines. The downloaded executable may include some low level adware that only opens your browser to Falcoware's home page after the game has installed and places four shortcuts onto your desktop (which can be safely deleted once the game has installed). The installation does not inject any malware into your system. When your browser is opened to Falcoware's home page when the game has been installed, it earns Falcoware games some money, part of which is given to the developer of the game for allowing the game to be given away free. You can see the results of the scan via the following link:

We've had over 200 decent indie arcade and AAA games from Epic games since they started to give free games away (mid December 2018) and that's not counting the pre- alpha version of the latest Unreal Tournament, which has been available for free for around a decade now. It has slowly developed into a decent game and well worth checking out; especially if you were a fan of the earlier versions. The last official release was 2007 when Unreal Tournament 3 was released.

Initially, Epic gave one game every two weeks, then a game every week and since last year two games virtually every week . This week we only get one and it's a repeat from June 2019. It's the open world swashbuckling space adventure Rebel Galaxy . It includes action-packed combat, exploration, discovery, trade, and “negotiation” with the outlandish denizens found at the edge of the known universe.

From Tomorrow at 4pm UK time 11am Eastern time the giveaway Rebel Galaxy ends and is replaced by two more games one of which has a word that I won't post here as it would offend some; it's called Void B******s a revolutionary strategy-shooter that will test your wits as well as exercise your aim and a second open world platformer called Yooka-Laylee

Battlefield V is also free from EA Games (Origin) until 1st September, but I think you can only get it free if you subscribe to Amazon Prime via their free Amazon Prime Gaming. You'll find a link to the appropriate page HERE; you'll need to log in via your Shareware on Sale sign-in then click on the link that says '' click here to go to the giveaway page '', then you'll need to sign into your Amazon Prime Gaming account (basically the same as your Amazon Prime sign in (I think). It's part of the Twitch gaming subscription which you get free with Amazon Prime. If you are unsure how to do this you can find out via Livewire HERE. I've posted some images links to videos of game play for single player cooperative and multiplayer game play as well as a link to a review of the game over in the giveaway forums HERE

If you like WWII first person shooter, Battlefield V is actually an amazing game with respect to graphics and immersion. I was blown away by the action when I first booted up the single player campaign last year. I've posted some images and a link to a review of the game over in the forums HERE.

More games have been added to the Indie Gala showcase section HERE as well; (e.g. the latest additions include Leisure Suit Larry 1 - In the Land of the Lounge Lizards, The Mims Beginning, Web Spice, Cat Defense, Return to Mysterious Island 2, Still Life 2)

I've been liking a lot of these puzzles lately, when I was young and went to the drug store with my Grandma I would always see the puzzles on the shelf for sale. This brings back memories of why I love to put together puzzles

Well I enjoy puzzles, but want something that is a bit more of a challenge....like at least 500 pieces, but would prefer 1000 pieces.

These particular ones might interest my 4 yr old granddaughter.
