For me this game crashes as soon as the ball hits a tile :) so very annoying as this is one of the few games i've been interested in on GAOTD. Same thing has happened on 2 machines now, they both have the same gfx card etc though, but also 2 different gfx driver versions so hmm, i wonder what it could be.

The game itself was great, problem though is with the netowrking feature. Using wifes computer to write this btw, as because I gave permission to let it access the net when using the server feature, it had a security hole and flooded my system with viruses and am now formatting and losing all my favoritesI got =( Anways, othe then that bad part, the games great. Long as you dont try usingserver part.

Just popped back in to see if the maker had shown with advice for those that couldn't get it to work or simply to say they are working on it, guess not. If this is the best they can do, glad I didn't pay for it, lol and I'll be passing on their products in the future.

This is a great game, the only reason I am uninstalling it is because the ball is really hard to see against the background.. really hard on the eyes.. Oh well it could have been a great game..

Hello everyone!

Talk about frustrating ..

I have carefully followed all the suggestions of everyone here with regard to a possible fix to the crash problem - including uninstalling and reinstalling. By default I'm the administrator of my computer also.

If I'd paid for this download, I'd be pretty upset by now. Especially since Elefun Multimedia have declined to show up here to see what we really think of their game software.

As happened last time with one of their games - I'm going to immediately uninstall and give up on Elefun altogether.

Such is life, I suppose. Some game software houses will bend over backwards to help you, others simply don't give a damn.

Oh excuse me - we got it for free and I shouldn't complain you say? I have not complained without reason - it's not like I'm commenting on the colors or backgrounds - I can't even play the game to the 2nd level, before it crashes.

Now it may be something to do with my machine, I don't know - but I won't know unless someone shows from Elefun.

I'd like to thank everyone here that offered help, I know I can always count on a few people to know what they're talking about when they try to figure out problems for others ;)

For those that are having a problem with crashing.

I found that trying to play this game as a Limited User was not possible. My game will crash after the first few plays.

I had to install it twice to get it to register and run under my Limited User account. Once the usual way under my Administrator account then again on my limited account temporarily setting my Limited User account to Administrator then setting it back to Limited User. Usually games and software that I've downloaded from this site will work under my Limited User account also after I've installed them this way but not this one. This one will only run under the Administrator account. Trying to run it as a Limited User causes it to crash every time.

Pretty cool game! Installed, registered, and runs flawlessly. Graphics are good, has instructions for game-play. Look forward to a challenge with my son on his PC. Thanks GOTD and EleFun Multimedia!

#26-Bob_Weather told to or not when I install software, I always re-start my Win OS. Try this... Restore your system to the point prior to your first install. Then re-install the game, uncheck the last box of the installation dialog box that says 'Start Now', click 'finish', then restart your PC. Hope that helps you. You may want to dwnld a new copy too. The one you installed first may possibly be corrupt. ;)

I also am having the crash issues.
However, what I was able to play made it obvious that this is a very interesting re-working of one of my favorite games. I was looking forward to trying the network mode.

No problems with download/install/activation. Game runs smoothly w/o any changes on my XP-SP2 for single player. (So far) 8-)
This and "WreckerBall:Dream" that our faithful reviewer "WhiteRabbitakaStephen" mentioned are giveing my tired brain a work-out... LOL
"POLING" looks to be a challenge as well. Downloading it was a challenge in its self.
I'll be keeping "Twinxoid" around awhile. The colors didn't seem as striking as most; but, that wasn't a total negitive, since it was easier on the eyes.
Thanks to all & have a good weekend !

Nice one, definitely a different take on arkanoids. Color scheme looks nice but is not very good when trying to read anything from within the game. Small light gray font on a transparent light blue background was a bad idea.

Game play is very good but wish the graphics were better, but backgrounds look good. No problems with crashing so can only figure it must be some other problem on the computers that can't run the game. Maybe they don't have DirectX 8.0 even though that's an older version of DirectX or maybe a conflict with another running program.

Re: #19 richw: The game can be played as a single player and without going online. You still have an opponent but you play against the computer, the computer opponent's bat is at the top of the screen. The game has an online play option but you don't have to use it to play.

When mine wouldn't open or do anything, I dropped the resolution from 1024x768 to 800x600 and got the same momentary blank screen then desktop result that #26 did. I reinstalled twice and I have a pretty common PC/video card. Was hoping the maker would stop by with a fix.

Interesting concept. Ability to win depends on opponent's speed of play mostly: Easy to beat in easy mode because opponent is slow--almost impossible to beat in hardest mode because opponent is much faster, and quickly gets a second helper! I think I would have liked it better if the blocks--which are square, by the way--would have only taken 1 strike to destroy instead of 4.

Anyway, good game. Thanks, EleFun & GGAOTD.

Good morning everyone! ;)

Activation and installation worked just fine. However, once I'm 1/2 way through the first level, it crashes - not completely because I'm still able to find it in the task manager processes and have to kill it that way before trying again - but the same thing happened twice more.

My OS is Windows XP, on an Athlon64 processor - resolution 1024 x 768.

I don't usually have any problems of this kind with GOTD offers, so I'm at a bit of a loss here.

Looks like a GREAT game too. Just briefly; I love that it has a network option also, since our computers at home (4) are all networked and we can have a ball with our grandchildren! ;)

So, ELEFUND MULTIMEDIA any information would be appreciated - thank you! :) I'll keep monitoring this page for the next couple of hours or so.

Have a beautiful Saturday everyone! ;)

Sorry for the multiple posts.... As were on arkanoid day, heres another interesting take on Arkanoid.......

Try this one. It's called Ploing (not the one I posted about the other day called poing) It’s a cross between a pinball and a breakout clone and can be downloaded from here:

http:/freewaregaming.com/aa/ploing.html

I can't give you a recommendation as to the safety of this site though because I’ve only just found it, and used one of my computers that I’ve not installed site advisor on yet. But it's seems okay just as long as you don't go clicking on everything in sight as I think some links may link to porn sites although it’s not immediately obvious. I just used the selection of buttons under the games menu to the left of the main page. Not the search the web box (that also has a games menu) because when I used one of those links I was taken to some ‘very’ soft porn images with further links to click.; however the games are genuine and fun to play. The DX Ball link that I posted above comes from the same group of games (Action/arcade) has recognizable elements that anyone who has the later game (Super DXBall Delux) will recognize, although there are no free level packs as you can get with Super DX Ball that Paul mentions above. There’s a free solitaire game for Lori called 123 solitaire v5.7 and other games to numerous to mention.

Wow another breakout that I haven't bought yet. Thank you very much. I missed this one totally. This is a very interesting take on breakouts and is not easy as your opponent is constantly causing bricks to appear in your space as he/she destroys bricks in their space. I like this very much. The only thing that lets it down is the color of the bricks, although I can see why it's been done like this. At least the backgrounds are pleasant to look at. However this is the only negative comment i can make about this game. The game play is really good, with the ability to keep bonuses or send them against your opponent as anti bonuses. The game is relatively hard even in the easy modes as your opponent is constantly making bricks appear in your playing field as he destroys them, as you will do against him.

The options menu includes the usual music and sound volume sliders. The music is rather pleasant. But I had to turn down the sound to just an audible level as it was a little annoying after a while (okay two negatives). There are resolution options to suit all tastes from 640x480 to 1600 to 1200. You can also play the game in full or windowed views., change the speed of the mouse, auto aim or the ability to turn on or off your opponents bricks, to your view, however this isn't too important as you can guess where your opponents bricks are because they are the spaces in your view.. The instructions (from the options menu) are limited; however there is an in game tutorial (that can be turned off once you've got the hang of it) which is very detailed.

You can play single player with your opponent being the computer or play it online against other human players. You can save multiple profiles as well.

It looks like there are 60 levels divided into 12 sets of five. Each set having a different background that is based on countryside/seaside images. There are five difficulty settings from very easy called feel the motion to very hard called rush to dance.

The bricks and balls have indicators to tell you how many hits they impart or need to hit to destroy the bricks. The balls have five different strengths and the bricks have four.

This is a must have arkanoid for any break out fan, and those that aren’t particularly into this genre should at least give it a whorl as it's very challenging and pleasant to play. On a scale of 10 comparing it against my large library of arkanoid games (well over 140)I would give this an 7 or 8 for playability 8 for originality (as far as arkanoids go) and 5 out of 10 for graphics. total rating 7 out of 10

Comment #11 by Paul, you can get a free version of the commercial game DX Ball which is the Precursor to super DX Ball deluxe from the following link:

http://www.freewaregaming.com/aa/dxball.html

You can also get a couple of other free breakout games (Brixout and Starball) one of which is still being sold at some games download sites from the following address:

http://www.gametop.com/?utm_source=brixout&utm_medium=downloadable

although the price you pay for the games are to get your browser opened and directed to their home page, however this is easily remedied by clicking on the x at the top right hand corner. It only appears once you close the game down, and when you are directed to the page it had well over 230 games, some of which are great. There’s also the free solitaire games I keep mentioning for Lori, including a Klondike solitaire game. There's also a whole host of other games too numerous to mention here. Apart from the annoying pop up once you close the game there's no other problems such as malware and viruses.

I get a memory error with this one - 'memory cannot be read/written'. I had the same error with Musikapa - both from Elefun Multimedia. I fulfill all the os criteria given and have had no errors with any other program from GGOTD. Anyone else with the same problem?

Shame as I love these Arcanoid games.

Good verses remix of Arkanoid. Nice vibrant graphics. Excellent soundtrack minus the reverbing song. Would've been nicer that more and one was omitted or an option to select the song(s). Instead you have to reset the level until the other song is played.

Intense going neck to neck for over 10mins on some levels. On one I had a 300% paddle with 8 max power and speed balls. LOL

Beautiful and interesting implementation of an arcanoid clone, runs in full resolution (at least on my 1024x768 display). Good introduction to the special rules, games runs smoothly, nice sound and music. If you're into arcanoid games, I would say that Twinxoid is worth a download.
