I cannot stop playing this game. It's awesome. It's like the original Super Mario Bros except with Turtles. :D Great graphics.

It's a cute, addictive side scroller from Alawar. Works just fine on Vista too. Great graphics and nice music. (If you pause too long the hero suddenly produces a boombox and he rocks out--too funny.) Seems easy at first, but it gets progressively harder. (I have a hard time finding those darn secret rooms!)

It's 2007, for Pete's sake! Cable or DSL access costs the same if not less than dialup internet. Wake up, people!

Download this game!

This game is very enjoyable. The characters are reminiscent of Mario Bros. characters. With a little practice, the controls are rather simple. I am on dialup and so glad we took the time to wait for this one. Alawar, you are one of the best! Thanks!

#2, I agree. Due to dialup and therefore time limitations, I missed a couple of good games and then one I downloaded was lost due to a problem with a friend's computer. I now have high speed access and hope I can obtain what I didn't get/keep the first time. Good site.

Turtles look more like parrots to me. However, they aren't ugly as far as I'm concerned. I like the comic book look between levels as well. Art, music and playing are top-notch! Another delightful game from Alawar I shall treasure for a long time.
Thanks guys.

Easy download and installation. Good game but I can't seem to be able to go past the third level out of ten. If that's the case, as good as it is, it's not really worth keeping. Any one can master these three levels in no time and then what....buy the balance of levels....NOT! But then again I might be doing something wrong.....any suggestions?

Great game, thanx very much, my only complaint is you cant choose keyboard functions....
And to those who cant figure out why the game is only 60 minute trial, READ THE DOCUMENT THAT COMES WITH THE GAME AFTER ITS UNZIPPED!
God, you would think people would know that by now....

Sorry guys, despite the glowing reviews I'm not feeling this one. My biggest issue with Turtix is something that has plagued a few other Alawar games, lack of support for windowed mode on my nVidia card. Alawar's games are the only ones that give me this issue.

I was also disappointed to find that Turtix doesn't support widescreen natively, unlike other Alawar games like "Magic Ball 3". I attempted to fiddle with the preferences file but any attempt to change the resolution resulted in irregular graphics. This could have something to do with the game's insistence upon using OpenGL rather than DirectX, but I'm not sure. One shouldn't have to edit config files to achieve the resolution of their choice. Magic Ball 3 had the ability to change resoltution in game, why not Turtix?

The game itself was a letdown as well. While the graphics themselves are high quality, I don't find the character of Turtix appealing. He's ugly - plain and simple. I'm sure the artists were aiming for a "quirky, yet cute" character design, but it seems they totally forgot the "cute" part. Even Bubsy Bobcat was a more endearing game character! ;) Also, the in game music that I heard was irritating, a complete 360 turn from the lovely tunes in "Artic Quest 2".

This game is arguably a generous offer due to its high quality aspects, but it's not for me. Regardless, I look forward to future Alawar offerings; most of their stuff is great. If they'd fix the windowed mode/resolution issues in their games I'd consider them one of the best in the biz.

You have to activate the game to remove the time limit. The activation file is included in the download.

Also, to play a level in Arcade Mode, you must first beat it in Story Mode.

This beautiful, cute 2D platformer is one of the most "professional" games ever offered here, but it may be too easy and uneventful for most adults. The graphics, sounds, and controls are all very polished, and kids who like this type of game should love this one. With the colourful, cartoony characters and settings, it reminds me a lot of Rayman.
I wish GameGiveaway would have more old-fashioned 2D platformers like this, though maybe some that are a tad more adult-oriented.

For anyone else who likes this game genre, probably THE best one available, at least for free, is Claw (a.k.a. Captain Claw), which can be found here: www.the-underdogs.info/game.php?id=4994
You will be eternally grateful for this link, believe me, but be forewarned that this game, which is astounding in every possible respect, gets extremely challenging in later levels.

After checking the 'thumbs up' ratio and reading the glowing comments, I was all set to download this bad boy. Then I read mimmi's (#17) scathing, in-depth breakdown of the games' shortcomings and decided to give it a pass.

WOOT!!! Just kidding! Thanks, GOTD, for another winner from the consistently outstanding Alawar Entertainment. Great game - works like a charm.

Like #30, I have installed on XP SP2 and on the Arcade game I cannot get past the first level - once I go through the portal it will only load that first level again.
On the Story setting it will load the second level ok, though I have not tried playing beyond that.
The first levels in the Arcade and Story versions are the same - can anyone tell us if the levels are the same all the way through? Are we missing out if we cannot get beyond the first Arcade level?
Does anyone have a solution to this first Arcade level problem?
Part of this does belong in the forums, but people do need to be aware that therey may encounter this problem themselves. I do not usually have any problems with the downloaded games or other software and I have checked in the registry to make sure that this game has installed with a key.

It's not running for me on Vista Ultimate. I have the latest ATI Mobility drivers that Alienware will give me (but they are like half a year behind). When I launch the game, it hangs and Windows says it's not responding and offers to kill it for me. All of the other Alawar games have worked so far.

These last three Alawar games are excellent!!! Turtix is simply beautiful, very well designed. I've played through several levels both full-screened and windowed with absolutely no problems. I personally like the music and sounds. The sequential storyline is cute and well done, the graphics are very professional, real eye candy. It is a family friendly game that will really appeal to both boys and girls, a big plus as far as I'm concerned. You can choose to use the keyboard, mouse or joystick or a combination if you want. This is a keeper that is worth the download and the asking price. Alawar has impressed me so much, they do it right, and I thank them for offering the best titles instead of lame leftovers. Again, D/L this game and try it, I believe if you like this type of game you will be as pleased with this treat as I am. Thank you Alawar and GGAOTD for these fun, professional looking games! Well done!

Downloaded fine, bit of a big file so it took a few minutes, not too long though. Installed fine. Plays fine. I've found no problems at all.

The graphics are attractive and nicely done. The music is pleasant and not annoying. Gameplay is simple and fun. I'm keeping this one around for the kids. Very cute.

Those with crash problems should check that they have the latest video drivers. ATI has updated drivers that work better with this game. The only real problem I noted is that in full screen mode the cursor is not constrained.

We know that the programmers know about constraining the cursor because that works fine in windowed mode. This should be fixed. Until then, the game is fun enough and otherwise functions well, so I will tolerate the annoyance of disabling one monitor to play full screen.

Although I personally found this game a little slow and reptetive, my 5 yo and his pals relly love this game. That one can use either the mouse or keyboard is a plus.

A last note. If you have multiple accounts, you will need to activate it in each account you wish to have access to the game.

Great game!
Superb comics tyle graphics, funny animations, nice music, nearly perfect gameplay.
The only thing I am missing is the ability to look down via the down arrow key. The collision detection could be a bit more accurate. But nonetheless one of the best "jump and run" games I have played for a loooong time (after Earthworm Jim, Jazz Jackrabbit (the first part) and Rayman).
Great work! Thumbs up! :)

Mimmi, the game does work - why don't you explain your problem and what system you are using and then maybe somebody can help!

Beautifully drawn artwork and graphics - only just tried the arcade mode and it does seem that you are restricted to the first level until you do the 'story mode'
