Tiny Worlds was available as a giveaway on October 13, 2007!
Tiny Worlds will bring out the sheepherder in you as you guide helpless animals past ravenous predators and safely home. By placing arrows on the screen, you can guide little fish away from hungry sharks, for example, or keep an innocent puppy from meeting up with a creepy ghost. Using clever reasoning and precision timing, you can then pick up the arrows you've placed and set them elsewhere to send your enemies tumbling into a dark well, never to return. The 250 puzzles contained in Tiny Worlds will never fail to challenge you in new ways.
Each of the five episodes contained in Tiny Worlds begins with an easy string of levels and slowly ramps up the difficulty. No matter how many times you retry a level, though, you'll enjoy the colorful worlds, charming animation and sprightly music. Simple controls, three difficulty levels and non-violent gameplay complete the package!

This game is such a burst of colors that it is hard not to enjoy viewing it. The easy to decipher,clear-cut, 3-D like design of the boards and characters requires little concentration to become enveloped by so that you can focus completely on the object of game play. Then, the game hones your playing ability gracefully through interaction and easy to follow guidance so that there is no guess work. After a few rounds, it's purely about developing your skills to race against time as each new venture enhances. It seems that kids would love to give a try or more at playing orchestrator over this cartoony world and it's a 'sight for sore eyes' to any adult that loves a fun strategy/puzzle game as well.

My previous comment appears to be missing. I stated that the EULA said this is shareware. Does the activation override that?
I tried the game. Indeed simple. However, I know a child with a learning disability and an adult who isn't very good at games, so this could be a hit.

#38 I read a lot of reviews today and a lot said they liked the game, not just that it was free. That doesn't mean YOU have to like it, just that others do.
p.s. Game Software writers, please lighten up on the timers. We want to decide.

This is a fun game with cute graphics. The higher levels are very challenging! Great fun for both old and young alike.

Thank you GGAOTD and Alawar have a feeling this game will keep me busy for hours and looks very interesting with the little bit i played with it. Installed and activated smoothly and thank you for the short cut provided and the windowed mode much appreciated.

Wonderfully addictive. I walked away from this game all day, but kept coming back. Simple, yet challenging. Thanks! I believe this is my fav download from here.

I'm amazed how some people praise a game *because it's free* This is totally awful unless you aged 5 or UNDER.
So simple it tells you what to do, Even it did'nt it'd still be total rubbish.
Another comment also: Some PPL spend hundreds on a buggy OS such as Vista then complain when free software does'nt work! (or is it a boast "I have vista and wanna show it off all") ?
Good idea would be to have saved your cash you spent on Vista and used it on a decent game or two.

A big thumbs up. Great little game

It's a very good idea for a game but it gets boring quickly, as the variation in gameplay dynamic is very minimal. Thumbs down.

I've tried re-downloading and then re-installing this game several times on my vista system after reading that some Vista users have had no problems running this game; but each time, I get the same error message. I cannot explain why some do and some can't get it to work on Vista....strange indeed. Still I do have it working on the kids XP computers.
I'm glad they are repeating the games from before the game giveaway project started as I missed out on all but the TVI arkanoid game. Although I did purchase Hyperspace Invader, Arxon, Arctic Quest and Magic Ball 2 previously to the giveaways back in november last year. My first giveaway was the Winter Night 3D Screensaver on the 30th November 06. Apart from my 3 week hospital stay back in May 07 and then a two week holiday in Turkey in July I've checked the game giveaway site every day religiously. :)
Thank you for some fantastic giveaways over the past 10 months.

A pleasant non-violent puzzle game. A nice change of pace from the bricks and balls and tiles. Appropriate for all ages. Reminds me of Lemmings. Thanks GGOTD and Alaware.

Not a bad game at all for free. My only gripe is the almost insane difficulty of some of the higher levels. The one I'm on now gives you THREE SECONDS to assess the situation and implement a solution on BOTH sides of the board. In three seconds. Then you die and have to start over. C'mon, I like a challenge as well as the next guy, but three seconds? Even twitch games give you more than three seconds to get the lay of the land in a new level before the boss squashes you. And this is supposed to be a puzzle, not a battle of reflexes.
Some advice for game designers from someone who buys a lot of games: playing the same level over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and (am I starting to get through here?) over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over is not particularly entertaining - it's just tedious. Lighten up a little - this is supposed to be fun, not boring. As another online reviewer said of a similar game, "If I want this kind of frustration, I'll try to cancel an online service."
On the plus side, it runs great in a window on XP. Haven't tried it on Vista yet, and based on some of the other comments, I don't think I'm going to. But it's definitely worth the download - thanks, GGOTD team.

I normally wouldn't have tried this game, but because it was offered by Alawar I gave it a go. I'm glad I did, it is a very nice, well made game. You can play it full screen or windowed; once you set your resolution it remains the same. The graphics are cartoon-like but well done with good color choices. The little animated animals are charming, their thought balloons are cute. The music and sounds are bright and appropriate. It has five different level types with 50 levels each, all becoming more difficult as you progress. It seems to be the type that you might do a level or two for a break; a fun little brain teaser that you could play a few levels at a time until all levels are completed. The game is definitely worth a download to see if you or someone in your family would like it.
Down-side: It has a timer that restricts the length of play, not good for little kids because their hands are small. Clicking through the arrows takes extra time for them to manage the mouse; almost before they have it set up, time is over and they are frustrated. Take out the timer on the easy level and this would be a real winner.
Thanks Alawar and GGAOTD for the quality offering!

Just an FYI, Whiterabbit, it plays fine on my laptop with Vista Home Premium. It must be the "64 bit" that has the hang-up.

Fails under Vista home premium.
Apart that, a valuable game on win XP.

Based on zweefvlieger's (#13), I tried to download and install it again. I use IE7 and the main link (I always use the mirror links on Firefox) this time. Same result. I found a log and it looks like it's my graphics card. I bombs when it's trying to load the graphics.
I have an NVIDIA card. It must not like my card. I have uninstalled it again.

This would be a good game except for its one gigantic flaw--the TIMER! Timing your play changes the game from a puzzle to an arcade, making it unsuitable for puzzle fans like me. (Same problem as yesterday's offering.) Each level (that I've seen so far) limits you to 5 arrows, which can be placed and replaced as needed. This is the "puzzle" aspect since, if you had unlimited arrows, there would be no problem other than the time limit.
Except for that, the game is--like all of Alawar's offerings that I've seen--cute and fun to play. As an arcade, some people will probably like it. As a puzzle, though, it will soon become boring.

This is nice. I prefer the similar, free IQ Marathon though, which needs thinking rather than reflexes. Played 45 levels so far of Tiny Worlds, and it's a good coffee break puzzler once you get past the extremely easy levels at the start.
A suggestion to the developer, for the interface: Rather than require up to 4 clicks to orient the arrow correctly, you could consider allowing the user to click and drag in the direction that the arrow should point.

This game is very fun. For one, the graphics are great showing that you'd need to buy it. But, alas, the graphics do not make up for the gameplay completely. It's a purty game, but could use a little VARIATION. Chili Butt Monkey Brain. That is all.

I agree with #5! I've got 32 bit Vista Ultimate and it installed but won't play. I get a memory access violation. I tried several other ideas including re-install as administrator, and several different compatibility modes. The only effect is if I run it as 98/ME I get a different error. I uninstalled it. Too bad, it looked like a lot of fun.
This is the first time I've had a game totally fail under Vista. I've seen other complain but it has always worked for me before.
I'll check back tomoorrow. Maybe my next attempt will be sucessfull.

This is an interesting game for the puzzle lovers from our friends of Alawar Place arrows in strategic places to guide the sheep past wolves and other obstacles to bring them back home. Not just sheep, there are chicks, fish and even aliens to herd in ever more complex puzzles. There IS a nice tutorial for those of us who haven't played lemmings or other similar game. Works well on XP. It's Alawar, so if you even *think* this might appeal, give it a try because they've given us some other great games this week!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention; the game doesn't play on my Vista home Premium 64 edition; I get a memory access violation each time I reinstalled it. I tried various compatability settings, screen resolutions and color settings, but each time it crashed with a message unknown runtime exception. 'Cest la Vie'

I’ve no need to add screenshots with this offering because the ones provided give a very graphic idea as to what the game looks like; very simple, colorful and cartoon like :) This one will definitely appeal to the children; however I must say I enjoyed the puzzles myself ;) Four of the five worlds, which include sheep, fish, space, chickens and a spooky world are locked at the start of the game, and I’m presuming that they become unlocked as you progress through the levels; all 250 of them. Once a level is unlocked you can return to it at any time to replay. The first 10 levels are tutorial levels, which show you the simple controls and tactics you will need to use to ensure your animals are safely guided home.
The options menu includes a music and sound slider as well as a screen resolution selector, although the highest screen resolution is rather limited to 1024x768x32; however, I personally have no problems with screen resolution as to me it’s a game to be played, not to look at. I play pocket games on my computer that only show as a very small window (e.g. Marble Worlds) and have no problems playing with them, though I suppose everyone has different preferences. :)
The opening menu will make the kids laugh. Here you have access to the options menu as well as the play and exit buttons. You can also select or create new users from this page. Clicking on play will take you to the level and world’s selection menu as well as to the difficulty toggle.
The ten tutorial levels are very simple and your kids with maybe a little help should easily pick up the rules. I’d say this is a great family game which I will be keeping. I’d say it’s worth 7 out of 10 for playability and the generous number of levels you are provided with; although once you’ve played the levels I don’t see much re-playability as each level is set; however, you know what kids are like :), they will ‘probably’ either absolutely adore it or hate it. ;) The levels are timed, but on easy you get a generous amount of time (IMO) to complete the levels. The harder you set the difficulty, the shorter the time you get.
The music is ideal for this kind of game; however as with most music I think it would be best played at a low volume, otherwise it will become a little annoying as time progresses. The sound effects are in keeping with the game style.
Thank you again Alawar and the game giveaway team for another marvelous game.
