The Treasures of Montezuma 5
In Brief
The Treasures of Montezuma 5 was released New Years Eve 2015 and is in my opinion one of the better Match Three arcade games available.

Installation:
The Treasures of Montezuma 5 downloads to a 65.1 MB zip file that unzips to three files, (a setup.gcd security wrapper, the set up file and a read me). Those with multiple hard drives are able to save games on any drive they wish. The newly installed game is 149 MB in size. The game installs to the following path by default, but can be changed by the user if you prefer:
C:\Program Files (x86)\MyPlayCity.com\The Treasures of Montezuma 5
Four shortcuts are installed to the desktop. three of which can be safely deleted (Play Online Games, MyPlayCity Games and shortcuts to a free online game which vary each week). Also, if you don't like icons installed to the quick launch task bar, make sure you uncheck the box when the additional tasks window appears (after the Select Start Menu Folder window)

The Game:
Like most of the Match 3 titles out there, The Treasures of Montezuma 5 does not really revolve around a particular storyline. Nonetheless, the developer still kept the signature Aztec theme of the series around in this sequel.
With the switch in developer (from Buka Entertainment to Wellore), the art style in this sequel also noticeably changed – for the better, at least. The graphics are bright and cheerful, with colorful visual effects and a nicely-cluttered design – The Treasures of Montezuma has never look so modern! Moreover, the soundtracks are no less impressive. I loved the lively and enthusiastic mood of the music; fun, while not being too distracting.
Gameplay wise, The Treasures of Montezuma 5 is rock-solid. There are 70 levels in total, across 14 different landscapes. In each level, your main task is to unleash a specific number of gems from the tiles by doing matches. You can also achieve the Bonus Goal by scoring enough points; in return, you will receive a Key to the chest, where you will find some awesome rewards.
The main currency used in the game is Crystal. You can earn more crystals through several methods – complete a level, play one of the three mini-games or visit the slot machine. The crystals can be used in the Shop, where you can various one-time boosters or Totems that can be helpful during the game.

The major concern with The Treasures of Montezuma 5 is that due to the lack of variety, the levels can get repetitive after a while. It is no question that the game is addicting, we just wish the developer would have included some unique features or bonus levels. Unfortunately, The Treasures of Montezuma 5 also comes with only one standard mode, there is no Untimed Mode available. This can be very challenging, almost frustrating, for beginners or those who want to relax a little bit because levels can turn into a mayhem pretty fast.

Conclusion:
The Treasures of Montezuma 5 is definitely not revolutionary, but it is one great fast-paced Match 3. The addition of an Untimed Mode would appeal to a wider audience though.

Problems getting the game to work:
If you're having problems installing or activating or getting The Treasures of montezuma 5 to work please visit the FAQ's Thread HERE and read through the communities comments because sometimes fixes have already been posted, for example, a common issue seen since the Themida wrapper was introduced three years ago is that some community members installation of the game are blocked by their security because Themida code has been known to hide malware, (usually an error message is flagged for example 'The executable is corrupted' even though in reality it is not); so as a precaution some anti malware programs will block and even delete the suspect installation files even though the files (i.e the setup, read me and setup.gcd files are actually totally free from malware. This issue can be solved either by rebooting your computer in safe mode with networking or a quicker method is to temporarily turn off your security software to allow the installation. You could also try whitelisting the setup.gcd file. In the almost 11 years this game giveaway site has been operating there has 'never' been a game given away that was infected with malware.
If for any reason you want to contact the giveaway team, for example, you have a game to offer the community, or are unable to download the latest game or other issues that the FAQ's thread or these comments don't cover or solve you can do so HERE
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank MyPlayCity for giving away The Treasures of montezuma 5 and also to the game giveaway team, as always, for securing other ways to get free games.

Interesting with all the different goals, and maybe having a relaxed mode wouldn't be all that great, but it'd be nice to have the option. I too suspect that I'll be running out of time much more often as I get to the higher levels. I agree that the graphics are great, but I've liked the graphics on all the Treasures of Montezuma games I've played.

Thanks to Rabbit, GGOTD, and MyPlayCity! And Happy Holidays to All!

Ok Windows 10 x64 Pro. Nice look, clean graphics. First few levels went ok so hoping not having untimed mode won't be a burn out if gets super difficult. You know how it works as they draw you in with easy early play then dump on you. Don't rem version 4 but do rem having given up on 1-3 for whatever reasons. Maybe just got too boring even w/ untimed mode? Thanks for nice Holiday past time though so far. Have good one - all of you!

Good game, but this game and the last I downloaded start an internal fan to run in my PC that never stops unless I reboot. No other games I have do that except these recent MPC games. Weird.

Thanks GAOTD and MPC.

Does the fan start up with any other non-giveaway game, for example, a graphic intensive game. I could be that the graphics requirements for this game are higher than older games?

What a pleasant match-3 game, nice and colourful. It's a pity about the relaxed mode, but in the end I didn't miss it too much, when your time runs out, just try again, you don't loose a life and the levels aren't too hard (up till now).

Thanks for this game, will be a keeper.

I installed and ran it. I got the error "Failed to set Directinput mouse device data format" and it wouldn't load. Any ideas?

Removed it, re-downloaded, restarted, reinstalled, same problem. Anyone else have this hangup?

........................................Moderator comment.......................................

Immediately after trying again, check your event logs to see if there are any error messages that could give a clue as to what the issue is. It's likely to be the Themida wrapper being blocked by your security. Also, see my reply to Gui Rulmont's comment. If you do find any messages related to this issue and are not sure what they mean, please post them here. we do have a couple of excellent tech-savvy community members that may be able to help. :)

Okay, I'll check, but it installs fine. I get that error when I try to run the game.

Installed just fine. I am really disappointed that this 5th iteration in the series does not have a relaxed mode especially since Treasures 4 does. I downloaded a free copy of ver 4 and purchased a copy because I liked it so much and was playing it all the time to relax. All the match 3 should have a relaxed mode. There is enough stress in our lives!

Thanks to MyPlayCity and the authors for all of these giveaways.

No install on my computer !!!!!

..................................Moderator Comment...................................
Sounds like your security is blocking the installation. The Themida wrapper is sometimes seen as a threat by some security software, so is automatically blocked because Themida wrappers can also be used to hide malware. In this case, the files are safe. You can either:
1) ... Reboot in safe mode with networking then install the game, then reboot as normal.
2) ... Temporarily turn off your security then install, then turn your security back on.
3) ... Whitelist the giveaway files with your security software, then install.
