Installs and works on Win 10 64-bit, despite the description. You just have to right-click ThePerfectUnit.exe and select "Run as Administrator". The "How to" isn't that hard to figure out. Just don't place any nut directly above the robot-ball, since it will just land on top of it. You have to place it slightly to the right or left above it and drop it to make it roll in the other direction. Sometimes, when your robot-ball is next to a wall, you have to place the nut in the wall, which, uhm, is against the laws of physics. An interesting feature in a physics-based game :-). The graphics is quite good, even in full screen mode. For me a keeper.

This game does not have adequate instructions - and indeed it even says - you have to figure things out and what they do for yourself. That's not so much fun as it is frustrating.

I couldn't get past level 4 of this game. I didn't know what to do and nothing I tried worked out for me. I decided life's too short and gave up. (I could see that there was a balloon - but I couldn't pick up the balloon by clicking on it and couldn't figure out what "magic" action I'd need to perform to use it.)

To pass levels 1 - 3 what you have to do is pick up the blue nut and drop it from as high as you can to land on the ball but slightly behind it so that it will start rolling - and keep doing that until it reaches the door - you get something that you can place in front of the rolling blue ball to speed it up / or to make it go up.

A Reviewer,

..................................Moderator comment.....................................

Hi A Reviewer,

To pass level 4 you place the 'speed up' just to the right of the robot, then drop the nut to make it move over the speed up and towards the pit. Immediately click on the blue balloon (from the inventory). When the robot hits the 'speed up' it will be thrown into the pit, (when you first try this, your robot will most likely be destroyed because of the bad robot in the pit; that is unless you were lucky enough to start the process just at the right time i.e. your robot needs to move over the speed up just as the bad robot starts to move towards the left had wall of the pit from the right hand side, but no further than almost past the easy chair next to the left hand wall). As soon as your robot lands in the pit (in the right hand corner and just avoiding hitting the bad robot), click on your robot to attach the balloon, at which point the robot floats up towards the roof. Once its moved over to the safe part of the house on the right hand side of the pit and is just about to move over the door, click directly on the balloon to pop it. The robot should then drop to the door and be transported to the next room. Make sure you do this while the balloon is moving towards the door end of the room, otherwise the robot could end up back in the pit.
The problem with this game (IMO) is that the actual puzzles (at least the early ones) are very easy; the issue is that you have to rely more on timing than skill at solving the puzzle. If your robot falls into the pit at the wrong time it gets destroyed by the bad robot. (It took me several goes to get it right). Plus you only have a second to attach the balloon and get it high enough so that the bad robot can't touch it because it's constantly moving left and right along the floor of the pit.
With respect to the lack of adequate instructions. All the instructions you require are introduced in the story boards and by the voice actors that appear at the beginning of the game. You are told that you need to discover where, what and how some items are used. You are also told how to move your robot, and that you have to navigate from one room to another. you are also told what the second given item is i.e a speed up and what it does. The next two items given are ones you need to dicover for yourself. These were a jump bonus and a balloon bonus that enables you to float upwards. How to use these is part of the puzzle.
I hope the above helped? I do think despite the instructions being reasonably clear, it would still have been useful to include a help button in the main menu that detailed instructions and maybe even descriptions of all the objects you find, where to find them and why they are needed as we always have the option of not actually reading them.

Whiterabbit-uk,

Thank you for the detailed explanation. It's really nice of you to take the time to type all of that out!

What I did find was a lot easier and simpler - was just to delete the game :-)

A Reviewer,

No problem A Reviewer; still, the information I posted may help others that are stuck on that level that are more interested in this physics based game. Sorry you felt it not worth keeping. It's not the best physics based puzzle I've played, but I will certainly be keeping it, at least until I've completed all the levels.
Have a great weekend. regards whiterabbit.
p.s. Thanks for posting your own review, they are always welcome, especially when I don't have the time to post an original review myself. I just wish there were more community members willing to take a little time out to post their own thoughts on the games. :)

Ootje, Thank you, Ootje.

After receiving your message I decided to take another look. The game has now successfully downloaded and is right now installing.

Maybe I tried to download the game during the period when the .zip file was being updated?

Thank you, again.

Same thing here. The last 3 games have had problems. At least there is no Game.exe from falcon games with Russian ads!

The Perfect Unit
In Brief
A physics based puzzle game where your robot explores various rooms in a mansion.
The-Perfect-Unit-003

The-Perfect-Unit-002
Installation:
The Perfect Unit downloads to a 50.5 MB zip file that unzips to two files, (a setup executable and a read me). The game installs to the following path by default, but can be changed if you wish. The installed game is approximately 71.6 MB in size.
C:\Program Files (x86)\The Perfect Unit
Five shortcuts are installed to the desktop, four of which can be safely deleted . If you want the games shortcut to be installed to the desktop, make sure the appropriate checkbox is checked. Even if this is left unchecked you will still get the four internet shortcuts installed to the desktop; (i.e. Falco Space - Online Game!, FalconLine Online Games Website, FalcoGo WebGL Games! and Free Games Downloads!). Also, if you don't like icons installed to the quick launch task bar, make sure the appropriate checkbox is unchecked when the 'additional task's window appears (after the Select Start Menu Folder window).

The Game:
On starting the game you can select either English or Russian/русский languages to play. Clicking the Play button from the main menu takes you to an odd looking level selection screen that has lots of images of the professor in varying sizes. with one labelled 1. These are the various levels available in game. On starting the Perfect Unit you are presented with a story bord that explains that you, the robot have no motion module installed; so to get you moving the professor has to push you around by throwing nuts at you.
Picking up nuts is easy, just move your mouse cursor over the nut, (which you'll find in your inventory, that is located below the room) and click the left mouse button. You start the game with four nuts. If you need to deselect a picked up item just press the right mouse button. to move the robot place the selected nut above the robot and press the left mouse button again to drop the nut. This is a physics based game, so to move the robot in the direction you need it to go, drop the nuts slightly to the left or right above the robot for it to move left or right. Once dropped, these cannot be reused. When, you arrive at the door to exit your first room, it transports you to the next room, where the professor awards you with a rotation accelerator. This enables the robot to move faster temporarily. These are quite rare, so you will be advised by the professor to use them wisely. You will also receive other helpful items, and are expected to discover for yourself where, how and why you are given them, (HINT: check the inventory), for example an item that allows you to jump . On the left hand side of the inventory is a back button that allows you to restart the level and on the right is another button that takes you to the level selection screen.

You will also be introduced to another occupant of the house, the maid. She will occasionally offer information and advise, for example on first encountering her, you will be told to avoid previous robots that don't function properly and who have smashed up the house. she will also give you another item. I won't tell you what that or any others are as I don't want to give too many spoilers away; s,o discover other items yourself. Suffice it to say that items you pick up are useful in helping you to pass through all of the rooms in the house, avoiding any traps.
Whiterabbit-uk 22nd February 2019
Conclusion:
A pleasant physics based game where you have to explore a house avoiding traps and figuring out how to get to the exit of each room. A lot of the puzzles rely more on timing than skill; however, I love physics based games and although this isn't one of the better ones, it is still very playable and worth downloading today. The voice acting is okay, though some of the words are a little distorted due to the Russian accents of the voice actors. All speech is accompanied by a panel with the words in writing. The background music sort of reminded me of an Adamms family movie. :)

Problems getting the game to work:
If you're having problems installing or activating or getting The Perfect Unit to work please visit the FAQ's Thread HERE and read through the communities comments because sometimes fixes have already been posted, for example, a common issue seen since the Themida wrapper was introduced three years ago is that some community members installation of the game are blocked by their security because Themida code has been known to hide malware, (usually an error message is flagged for example 'The executable is corrupted' even though in reality it is not); so as a precaution some anti malware programs will block and even delete the suspect installation files even though the files (i.e. the setup, read me and setup.gcd files are actually totally free from malware. This issue can be solved either by rebooting your computer in safe mode with networking or a quicker method is to temporarily turn off your security software to allow the installation. You could also try white-listing the setup.gcd file. In the almost 12 years this game giveaway site has been operating there has 'never' been a game given away that was infected with malware.
