Embark on an exciting journey to answer all of these questions.
Much further into the game and just wanted to comment, in case it's helpful, that this is WAY easier than Lost Kingdom Prophecy---WAY TOO easy! The levels fly by quickly, it takes almost nothing to get to the "item" part, not even a normal match 3. Because it was so similar in look, feel, and idea to Lost Kingdom, I assumed it would be at least the same level of difficulty, but this is really a junior version, now that I've played through enough levels to see if it got any better. My advice is to grab Lost Kingdom Prophecy, which is still somewhat enjoyable even after starting over after playing through numerous times. I'll finish this one, but then it's off. Really glad LKP was offered here first!
BTW, the Cradle of Rome match 3 from last time is really turning out to be fun.

i like this game a lot. i've played through level 20 -- a few levels the last time it was offered and several more this time. i'm on a collapse-type match-3 kick. after fairy island (which did get so difficult in all modes that i stopped playing) and then enchanted island (still playing and enjoying it), i switched Lost Inca Prophecy to group mode and have had fun playing. i like the wriggling animations of the tiles and the slight bounce when they drop à la Fishdom. game play is really snappy on my beloved old netbook.
no constructive feedback to offer here, just my appreciation to Playrix and GGOTD for the giveaway and to you, Whiterabbit, for your efforts and your equanimity with us in the peanut gallery.

Thanks, from what I can tell the system has the current version of Direct X and I'm not sure how to update Direct X on Windows 8 other than to apply the latest service pack which is already installed. The system is fully updated for 8.1.

The games you offer here sound so good, I only wish I could download them successfully. I commented a few weeks ago about my difficulities, and was happy to see a solution, in that I needed to have a different ZIP program. Well I tried that and got that Vosteran virus, which I am still dealing with. I thought I'd try again tonight, but I can't download this game for love nor money. Anyway, thanks for those who tried to help and who might offer a solution tonight. But I am beyond frustrated. Oh well, lol, what can you expect for free? But seriously, good job GGOTD for those who are able to get these wonderful games through your site.

Tks for your continued efforts to assist. Forgot about the event viewer. There seems to be two errors that present when this program runs. Won't post the entire error info for them unless someone wants to see them. The error codes from the events are: 0xc000041d and 0xc0000005. Not an expert on deciphering error codes but these seem to point to permissions and/or compatibility issue? Think this may also have something to do with the request I get for "Direct Play" installation also. Looks like this is going beyond my abilities to understand. I may have to live with it.
I assumed letting "Direct Play" out to play was a no no from what I had researched on my own. Just wanted confirmation on my conclusion about it.
Thank you again for trying to help. Much appreciated.

HI,
Downloaded fine on windows 8.1! There is a slight tightness with movement, but still able to click finding items smoothly along. I am not sure if this is the one I had before, but the mask is the same so think it is and I had finished the game fairly easily. Will play on for awhile and see if its the same. Thank you for another good game!

I think a big problem, with a few exceptions, is there hasn't been any breakout games this year. Most just seem to be sequels of the same old thing (Sims 4 anyone?) Also in the US, despite reports claiming n an improving economy, I don't think people are spending as much--Christmas sales have been lackluster. They're not going all-out this year. People are looking for deals, but this black Friday period was pretty lame. I find myself buying more indie games on Steam because of the reasonable prices and there's more originality.

One more question if I may for whoever can answer. Is it advisable to enable Direct Play when a program asks?

I tried the FAQ's and compatibility adjustments awhile ago sorry to say nothing there helped unless I have no idea what I'm doing which is quite possible knowing me. :-) Thanks for your reply.

I would like to thank Diane for her feedback. I have been having this or similar issues with games since changing to Windows 8. Unfortunately Diane's fix did not seem to cure my problem. After installing the game upon running it for the first time I was unable to see a cursor after the game completely loaded up. I played around with moving my mouse and saw it would highlight whenever I was at the right place on the screen where a setting was. I finally got it to the place where you can set a custom cursor or regular cursor. The box was unchecked for a custom cursor. I blindly clicked the spot for custom cursor and was lucky enough to be in the right place. Once the selection was made I could see the custom cursor and set up and play the game. The game worked fine after that even after I exited it and opened it again. The problem returned after I attempted to play a game called "Alices Magical Mahjong" which requests to install "Direct Play" when attempting to run it which I decline. That game continues to load and as far as I can see plays correctly but after running the Mahjong game, when I then try to play today's game again the problem with not being able to see the cursor returns and if I want to play today's game I have to go through trying to hit the right area to open the options menu and then trying to hit the right area to select custom cursor. Frustrating to say the least. I just want to fix this for all games so I don't have this problem.
Once again thanks to Diane all others for their input. Anyone with any other solutions to try to fix this I would very much appreciate your input as well.
Don't wanna leave out our gracious moderators. Thanks to you also.

I enjoyed the game play of both "Inca Prophies" & "Kingdom Prophecy", however I will not download it this time as both games, on my computer, were very sluggish and continually caused problems to my input devices.
But, I did give today's giveaway a "Thumbs Up"; it is an enjoyable game.
I need a new computer and when I finally get it I will install the "Prophecy" games again.

Match 3 is a good time burner. The HOG portion is okay for the most part but the finding pieces of stone in piles of rubble can get annoying quickly. Especially if your eyes are less than perfect. The HOG is a small portion of the game so not a deal breaker.
Save | Cancel
Although I used to love HO games, I've not played any for some time, so I had some difficulties with the start of this game. Just as well the hint button recharged quickly! The match 3 part was great, with good graphics and music. Good to play during a coffee break.
Thanks GGOTD & Playrix

Hi Stephen,
Looking at the screenshots and videos, I am struck by the fact that the two adventurers appear slightly menacing and are less animated than the mask -- what's up with that? I definitely like the different options for matching tiles (several years ago I was playing a game with the same feature) because it adds variability. Haven't decided yet if I will download, as I am still exploring all the aspects of last week's game, which I think is one of the very best match 3 games I have tried. Thanks to all who provide us with these free games.

Thanks for review and the comments. Vaguely rem this from before, they do tend to blur together. Worth another shot since I may have missed it. Looks like nice blend of Match 3 and HOG with decent graphics - important in these styles.

I gave it an "up" vote on the basis of having downloaded and played it the last time it was given away. I don't remember enough details to comment further, but I did play it through to the end. Its "Lost Kingdom Prophecy" sister game -- same notation.

Had this on my old machine from last giveaway. The story is pretty lame but the gameplay can be fun with long match chains, especially if you play with tiles in hexagonal mode. Mindless fun, and very long gameplay. Liked it enough to put on current machine. Runs fine on 64 bit. Thanks!

Didn't see it searching the Google Play Store, though both the Play Store & the Amazon App Store have more than plenty of Math 3 games if that's what you might be after.
https://play.google.com/store/search?q=match%203%20games&c=apps&hl=en
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_7/175-7343800-1104842?url=search-alias%3Dmobile-apps&field-keywords=match+3+games&sprefix=match+3%2Cmobile-apps%2C412
Today's free game at Amazon's App Store is "Hidden Object - Magic of Christmas" BTW - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H2D1XDQ/ref=mas_fad_img/175-7343800-1104842
Both stores require a free account, & Amazon's requires you install their app to download & install the apps/games they offer - that may require you to at least temporarily change the settings on your Samsung cell - directions on how to do that are very easy to find on-line & at Amazon.
There's a Really HUGE amount of mal-ware targeting cell phones & tablets, so as a rule Do Not download & install apps from other than those 2 stores for Android, or the Microsoft equivalent if you have a Windows device.

I got this game from MyPlayCity some time ago. A little over 2 years ago, I upgraded my PC (just after Win8 came out but I got Win7) and this game didn't want to work right. The display didn't seem to want to show the whole screen and the mouse wasn't visible. Knowing MyPlayCity's reputation for lack of quality resolution, I wrote Playrix about the issue.
They, very kindly, sent me a link for the full game. It had the same problem. However, it was the "spark" that led me to the problem with this and allowed me to keep a great many of my older games on my newer machine - high DPI!
If you do have display issues with this (and almost any game), and have higher than 100% set or your text display, check the Compatibility tab in the properties. Set the flag to ignore high DPI scaling and you should be good to go.
This fix also works when a game insists that you have too low a resolution to play the game and you know better. The game sees the scaling and thinks you're too low.
The ONLY time this fix hasn't worked is with the Murder, She Wrote game. It sees the high DPI setting but not the ignore flag and flat refuses to start because it's set. I have not tried Murder, She Wrote 2.
I'm glad I was able to find a fix because this is a good game. It is the companion to The Lost Kingdom and the two basically play the same way. You can go through the game twice since it has 2 different shapes (square/hex) of layouts!
Unlike #11 -- I'm a fan of Match 3s and HOGs as well as Playrix in general so I'm happy with this game.

I am disappointed that for a long time GOTD games are too similar to each other.
They are all about moving marbles and finding hidden objects.

It´s simple:
Hidden object = trash
Match3 = trash
Trash + trash = ?????
One of this category in a game is bad enough, both together: My dear!
7,2 points for this??? I gave 0,0 and don´t understand the lots of positive votes...

Downloaded and activated with no problems on Win 8, 64 bit machine.
The game plays with no problems, and is interesting switch up on standard match 3 games. My only issue is the story line gets annoying long when trying to get to the game. Clicking through it is time consuming because of the extra long narrative. Other than that I enjoyed the game. Music is never an issue with me since I turn off the sound on my laptop and watch/listen to TV while I'm on it. Overall I recommend it for match 3 fans and suggest everyone else to give it a try because of the different play.

Hmmm. One of the least impressive Playrix games I've encountered, and I'm usually a big fan of their games.
Like WR, I don't care much for the storyboards you can't turn off. Clicking through them rapidly becomes tedious. I'm also not a fan of hidden object levels/minigames, and would really appreciate a way to skip past them that doesn't involve long waits for a Hint function to recharge. Being thrown into a hidden object round right at the start almost had me quitting and uninstalling.
I did enjoy the match 3 part of the game, which is right up there with Playrix's usual standards.

Pretty much identical to Lost Kingdom Prophecy, which I got here a while ago and which is one of my favorites! So I liked the idea of a slightly different version, though there doesn't seem to be anything new here. It's a lot easier (at least in the early boards, and the other one is pretty easy at the start), the story boards are more intrusive and frequent, and I haven't yet found any new or different features. If you don't already have the other one, grab this one if you like match 3s (and a little bit of hidden object, which is nice).
I really like that with both of these you can choose the play mode (swap, chain, etc.) since I am used to swap, and sometimes to shake things up like to try one of the other modes, though I always come back to swap. And would have like to see some differences between this and Lost Kingdom Prophecy; maybe there will be later on?
One thing I've never figured out: does using a powerup penalize you? It seems that you should be penalized for using a powerup and I always try not to use them unless I'm really stuck, but there doesn't seem to be any penalty and as a matter of fact, it mentions the powerups you used on the scoreboard almost as if there's a reward for using them!

Installed and ran fine on win8 64bit. The game was very easy to navigate, and the instructions for game play were good and clear. I found it to be a very fun game to play, and personally would rate it a little higher. The in game music is pleasant, the story boards were quick and easy to dismiss with a simple mouse click and didn't take long to get back to the game. The graphics were easy to see and work with, and my mouse that normally malfunctions during any game, worked correctly through the whole game. Thank you, and thank Playrix for the great game, it is definitely a keeper.

The Lost Inca Prophecy:
In Brief:
Installation:
The Lost Inca Prophecy downloads to a 34.5 MB zip file (2.7MB larger than the previous time this was given away) and unpacks to a read me doc with the terms and conditions and instructions, a wrapped setup activation file (the orange colored file with the key symbol), plus there's a setup file with security (setup.gcd) that's protected from being hacked. This file may case some security software to alert the user to a possible malware attack, but it will be a false positive.
The game giveaway team check all game giveaways for malware using several well known anti -malware suites. There has never been a game giveaway infected with malware since the project started back in Dec 2006.
The game installs to C:\program files (x86)\Playrix Entertainment\The Lost Inca Prophecy\LostIncaProphecy.exe by default and is 28.3MB in size once unpacked. There are shortcut installed to bother the desktop and the start menu/programs list; their is also an uninstaller unless you're using programs like Revo. You can select your own installation path if you wish. :)
It works on a Win 7 and Win 8.1
If you miss todays giveaway it is available from MyPlayCity, Jenkat Games, Gametop and FreeGamePick 24/7, do rememebr the problems that can be associated with downloading games from these four sites, for example not unchecking the boxes during installation can result in toolbars, changed browser, changed home page and files installed to various places on your hard drive. All these games will open your browser when you close the game down, but there are no issues associated with this.
Introduction:
Reference accessed HERE Oct 2012
The Lost Inca Prophecy was given away once before just over 2 years ago (Oct 7th 2012), where it received a positive 84% from 551 votes. There were 77 comments which can be seen HERE
The Game:
Initial impressions are of a well constructed game with a menu system similar to that of 4 Elements. The main menu gives you access to Options, Scores and a smaller Exit (red buttons), as well as a larger green Play button. The options menu allows you to change the sound effects and music via sliders as well as toggles for full screen/windowed, custom cursor and one for slow PC's. Using this will reduce the graphic quality a little. That sai, the system requirements list a 800MHz cpu which was common a decade ago, but computers since have moved on to much faster speeds. There's no mention of what graphic RAM is required, but you will require a minimum of 500MB of RAM. Unless you are running an older operating system such as Win 98 your computer will almost certainly have at least 1GB or more of RAM. There's no mention of gRAM requirements bt your graphics card needs to be at least Direct X 9.0c compliant. This standard has been around for almost 10 years, so it's likely most users will have this as standard. The in game music is semi classical and acceptable in my opinion. It's not too distracting and seems to be on a loop. There appears to be no way of changing the music, so, if you don't like it you'll have to turn the games music volume down via the options menu.
On starting the game for the first time you are introduced to the games story via a story board style presentation. moving through the story board is accomplished via mouse clicks. There doesn't appear to be any way to avoid having to flick through each page. The game itself is divided into two game modes; a basic hidden Object game and a match 3 game. The game starts with a Hidden Object game, where you have to find four items all of which are broken up into pieces. Most of the items you find are needed to expose other areas of the hidden object puzzle, for example, in the first puzzle you need to find all pieces of the axe, which is then used to clear an area of the puzzle, that exposes further pieces of the objects. Two of the objects cannot be completed until you've at least completed the axe. There is a hint button that fills up over a short period. there are no timers and you can click anywhere on the puzzle.
Once completed further story boards appear then your first match three. This particular match three is interesting in that you can play it using different game geometry's. there are three buttons that allow you to select whether the tiles are square or hexagonal, or allow the computer to randomly choose for each match three level. also you can play the game in three ways. As a swap tile match three, a chained match three where you first selct a tile then drag your mouse pointer across similar adjacent tiles and thirdly a group match three (the easiest) where you look for groups of similar tiles.
The aim of the match three puzzle is to remove all the colored tiles from beneath the various tokens. I(f you look to the bottom left of the playing arena you'll see a feathered serpent with six chambers. If you create six matches in a row that also destroy at least one of the colored tiles the serpent will send out lighning bolts that destroy several tiles randomly across the playing arena. You can also earn power-ups by creating longer chains of matches. There are four different power ups such as the hammer and a linking power up that can be used as any token. Once you've cleared the colored tiles a new token appears at the top of the arena. you have to move that token to the bottom of the arena before ending the level.
Features:
• The Lost Inca Prophecy has two types of game play. It combines Match 3 games and hidden object games.
• The game is divided into four chapters. Each chapter contains twenty four Match 3 games and four hidden object games. There is one hidden object game at the beginning of each chapter, two in the middle and one at the end.
• Hints in the hidden object games are unlimited but you must wait for them to recharge. A magnifying glass will appear over the area you need when you use a hint.
• There are no timers in this game.
• If you exit and quit the game in the middle of a level your progress will not be saved. You will be taken to the beginning of the level when you restart the game. You don't go back to the beginning of the chapter, just the individual game level you are playing.
• You can read Acua's entries in her Travel Journal as you move through the game but you cannot turn the pages back and read past entries.
• In addition to the normal Options for the game set up there is one titled Slow PC. You can check this option box to reduce the level of detail so that you can play the game on slower computers.
Video & Images:
You can see videos for The Lost Inca Prophecy HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE
I've uploaded 95 images of today's gamegiveaway to photobucket HERE as a slideshow.
System Requirements:
Win 7/Vista/XP
cpu - 800MHz
System RAM - 512MB
Direct X 9.0c
Conclusion:
Overall I found this match three mildly entertaining. The regular story boards became a little tedious after a while but they were easily dispatched via a mouse click. there should be a way of dismissing them altogether via a button at the beginning of the game, or a skip button each time they appear. The games graphics were nice. Well textured and they gave the game a luxurious feel. HOG gameplay was at its best simple, but still added to the overall feel of the game. The match three was quite unusual in that you could change the mechanics of the game to play whichever way you wished. This aspect adds extra replayability to the game and extends the gameplay life substantially. The overall score I gave to this game for game play, graphics, music, replayability and originality was 7.2
Score:
Overall I'd give this game the following score:
Game play - 7
Graphics - 7
Music - 7
Replayability - 7
Originality - 8
Total = 38 out of 50 which equates to 7.2 out of 10

Problems:
If you have any problems installing or getting to work today's game please go HERE for help. I've posted all of the common problems and solutions in a FAQ thread, which you can find in the sticky section of the forums by following the above link.
If you are posting late in the day I would also suggest posting in the main giveaway forums, in the game discussion section because I cannot moderate 24hrs a day over the weekend. I've created a thread HERE for that purpose. If you've installed the game but it won’t work for some reason, it should still be registered, so someone may be able to help at another time. Unfortunately if your problem is actually installing it then once the giveaway period is over there’s nothing that can be done until the game is given away again (though that isn't guaranteed). Sometimes you can still register the game after the giveaway has ended so long as you managed to start the download before the giveaway ends. I've tested this and sometimes the grace period lasts for up to 2 hours, but more often than not 1 hour is the norm.
It’s always worth checking out the free games sites because sometimes the games we get here are also available for free from them. MyPlayCity (MPC) has the most with over 1000 games to choose from. This particular game is available from all four that i usually quote (i.e. MyPlayCity, Jenkat Games, Gametop and FreeGamePick).
If you do download any other games from MPC or the other free game sites 'do' watch out for toolbars etc. Make sure you un-check the check-boxes during installation, and, in the case of MyPlayCity, every time you boot the game up, (this may have changed now as MPC tend to change the format frequently. .. I've posted links to all of the common free game sites below in the games, games games section. :)
Games, Games, and yet more Games plus Download, Installation & Game play Problems:
There's almost 200 games on sale over on Steam this weekend. You can find a full list HERE. They've included deals off all of the games that won awads at the ultimate videogame celebration on Friday
You'll also find some excellent deals over on the following Game sites, some of which have summer sales on. I've been selling my Steam trading cards and have already amassed nearly £200 just from selling these cards. i sold one for over £4 last week. all proceeds are going towards games. :)
GreenManGaming
Gamersgate Summer Sale
GOG (DRM free games)
Desura
Gamestop
GameFly (soon to be sold off)
Free Game Sites:
Jenkat Games
MyPlayCity (over a 1000 games to choose from)
Gametop
FreeGamePick
To be honest there are too many game deals around too list them all. Just visit the sites I recommend above and I'm sure you'll find something that suits you for a very decent price. If like me you prefer Steamworks games, many of the above sites also sell steamwork games.
If that's not enough, check out the Game Discussion forums HERE for details of other games either free or on deals such as the Indie Game bundles (there's over 20 of them - If you purchased all of them you'd be paying around $80 for around a thousand dollars worth of games); or check out the four day sales at IndieGameStand. I've updated the Indie Game bundle thread to include all the latest bundles. you'll find that thread HERE.
The latest IndieGameStand game is Inside the Gear a physics puzzle game. If you pay over the average, which at the time of writing was $1.24 You get a Steam and a Desura key plus you also get a drm free download. This bundle ends around 5am (GMT)Tuesday 9th Dec.
The latest Daily Indie game is Cherobyl Commando, a first person shooter based around Cherobyl. You can get two keys if you pay more than the average of $1.03 (at the time of writing); one key to share with a friend or family member perhaps?. You'll find that deal HERE. They also have a couple of bundles of several games that'll cost you less than $1.50 HERE. The single game deal ends Midnight Tues 9th Dec.
Most of the bundles retail for around $5 give or take a few dollars (apart from the Daily Indie bundles that only cost $1.49 for six games), but you can pay as little as a dollar for some.
The free game from Origin remains the same as last week, i.e. Crusader: No Remorse, a retro Strategy shooter originally released back in 1995.
