Game Installer NOW fixed.

Thanks to Falcoware for fixing the issue and to the giveaway team for adding the new file to the giveaway installer. Regards Whiterabbit-uk aka Stephen
p.s. I ended up buying the game on Steam before it was fixed as it is only £0.39.$0.50 at the moment with 81% off. I like to support the dev's when possible, even when it's only a very small contribution.

Please excuse the lack of any info from me. I've only just seen today's giveaway late afternoon. I'm in the middle of making bread at the moment, just took a few moments away to wash my hands and wait for the initial proving stage to complete. Unfortunately I won't have time to check the game later because Thursday evening is my game night with some good online friends; where we play various cooperative games together, so I may not have time to post anything about the game, that is assuming I can get it installed.
I have managed to download the game, but as others, I have had problems getting the game installed. It stalled at around 913Mb, which is annoying as it only had 267MB to install. I'm going to try and install it to one of my SSD's to see if it installs faster as I think the time factor is the issue, i.e. the download is timing out. Maybe you could try using one of those download managers as it should speed up the download significantly.
I didn't realise that the Falcoware installer we download from the giveaway servers is just the preliminary step and that further files are then downloaded from Falcoware once we activate the Falcoware executable downloaded from the giveaway site. I've rarely watched the installation process as I tend to focus on other things while it is installing.

I was tempted to purchase this via Steam as it's only £0.39/$ 0.50/€0.40 at the moment (81% off), as I was not able to install the giveaway version despite multiple attempts (8 times); It always failed around 913/914MB.
You can see the Steam communities comments about today's game HERE.
You can see a few videos of game play HERE, HERE, HERE and on the Steam page HERE.

At first , I've tried to download the game using the "original" link .
I was curious to see if it would work .
The download stopped after the first 350 Mb .
Then , I've used the new "fixed" link WR provided and got the game
without a problem .
I've installed it to my Windows XP computer .
It works just fine , even though in the description box I see that the
game wants Windows Vista or higher .

About the game ...
At the start , the game told me that I had to use WASD for movement .
I've discovered that the arrow keys work too .
As I moved in the game , I've got more info about the control keys .
Spacebar for jumping , ctrl left for bending/crouching .
Current objective is visible at the right down corner of the screen .
The menu is very "spartan" .
Only a three point brightness setting and some graphics settings .
Nothing else ...

No way to skip the Intro video .
That's very bad because you die a lot and start over and over again .
After 2-3 times ,it gets very annoying .

No way to reassign the keys .
So , if you are like me that uses the arrow keys to move and the RMB
to jump , you will spend a lot of time getting used of the controls .
I've played the game for about 15 minutes .
I had to quit because of the motion sickness .

No (visible) way to save the game at any point .
I hate to go waaaaay back in the game , whenever I die and forced to play
the same level over and over again .
So , I tend to save the game a lot ...
This game does not give me the option to do that .
Very unconfortable .

The game is very dark .
Even with the brightness set to the full and the lights of the room turned off ,
it was hard to see clearly .

The game looks very interesting .
Unfortunately , due to my difficulty to use the unchangeable controls and the
darkness of the game , I will not have the pleasure of exploring it .

To the GameGotd Team , the Developer of the game and of course Whiterabbit-uk ,
a sincere thank you .

JEDIGEG,

Thank you for your feedback G, appreciated. I ended up buying the game via Steam before the fix was posted via Falcoware. Don't regret it as it was only fifty cents (81% off the usual price).
Hope all is well, sorry for not emailing recently. Stay safe.

I HATE the download installers. This is listed as 10MB WRONG ! It's 1.18 GB !!!!

Downloaded, installed , and loaded without incident.

A full screen mystery game. this should be interesting.
I thin I like it.

That information should be included in the blue information box at the top of the page. I don't understand why GOTD can't manage to do that.

Sounds like this game is not worth the hassle it takes to get it installed. I popped over to the Homepage (link above in the description) and looked at the reviews. Take a look yourself before you try to install this game.

The size of the download is incorrect. Once again my antivirus blocked another download manager and it was to download the game at After a gigabyte. I love GGOTD I don't like this format and wish the old install format is back with the GCD File.

Thank you GGOTD per usual but if you do an internet search Falcoware is adware.

LittleBear,

Hi Little Bear,

There's no doubt that Falcoware employ adware; however, this is so that they can give away these games, all of which are usually commercial games sold elsewhere. Developers have agreed to giveaway their precious creations via Falcoware (and other free games sites like MyPlayCity, Gametop, TooMky Games, FreeGamePick etc) and are remunerated via the money earned from the adverts.
The Falcoware installer that runs the game contains what I term low level adware, that is only active when you boot up the game. There is no malicious software (or code) inserted into the computers system, it is self contained via the Falcoware installer and does not cause any harm to the system it is running from.

I tried 3 times to install this. Firstly it threw up more than the usual number of Windows warnings and antivirus triggers. After getting through all those I tried 3 times and each time it failed at the same point with an unknown error at around the 740mb mark saving to Driive D on Windows 10. I have a screenshot of the error if you need to see it, but I can't upload an image here. Basically it just says "Error" and displays a yellow triangle with a "!" sign.

Setup keeps failing when trying to install thelastdawnthefirstinvasionsetup.exe 1.18GB file. Tried downloading the zip file again to re-do an install attempt. Still getting a download failed message. Tends to happen after half or two thirds of the file has been downloaded. Running Windows 10 Pro 64. Getting around 5MB/s download speed for the file.

Downloads fails somewhere between 1 min 50 and 3 mins elapsed time.

Running Windows Defender and Malwarebytes.

Are connections being cut? Due to too many people trying to download the file at the same time?

Normally games download and install fine.

Any idea what the problem could be?

Thanks

Got it installed with the updated file. Screens load in turn with Made with Unity and David Pierucci displayed. However, it then crashes when a central circle with a turning arrow inside stops turning. There is also a game hint statement below the circle.

Tried running compatibility mode and it still crashes in the same place.

Unsure why this new issue is happening.
