The Lake House: Children of Silence

In Brief

The Lake House: Children of Silence is an excellent Hidden Object Game (HOG) from MyPlayCity (MPC), with the check-boxes removed. You still get the browser opening when you close the game down after each play (which earns MPC cash and is the reason they can give games away. All of MPC's games are commercial games and not freeware and are still sold at distributors such as Big Fish and Gamehouse and are not 'technically' free, because you are indirectly paying for the games when you close the game down after each play session due to your browser opening to MPC's main page. Apparently there is a way to disable the browser opening, but this would be against the 'EULA' you agree to when you download , install and play a game from MPC.

If you have a slow internet connection I would advise downloading this as early as possible during the giveaway period.

Suggestions:
If you like or don't like today's game please give some feedback detailing why you like or don't like the game; for example, how it could be improved from your point of view. If you don't like this genre at all, please explain why, especially if you give it a thumbs down. There are still thousands of subscribers to the game giveaway of the day every weekend which makes this an ideal forum for giving developers ideas as to what their consumers (i.e you) would like to see in a game. For example, you could suggest extra content such as mini games, or a level editor that you would like to see or improved the graphics, change the menu system, add camera controls or some other aspect of the game that would make it more appealing to you.

If you miss today's game giveaway you can still get the game via MyPlayCity 24/7 HERE. If today's game giveaway doesn't interest you at all, there are usually other free alternatives available, for example a this time you can get Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell totally free or a reasonable shmup (a vertical scrolling 'SHoot 'eM UP') called Alert Sector Eight; please see the end of this review for more details. If you don't fancy either of those check out the game discussion forums where you'll find details of literally thousands of free games (both freeware and abandonware), and links to various 'dirt' cheap indie bundles that cost as little as a dollar to five dollars for upwards of 6 to 10 games (or more), usually worth upwards of $100 or more, for example Indie Gala, Groupee's, Humble Bundle, Flying Bundle, Daily Indie Games (DIG), Indie Game Stand (IGS), Bundle Stars and more. At this time there are at least 60 or more indie bundles available, most of which cost less than $5.

Installation:
The game downloads as a 502MB zip file that unpacks to a setup, setup.gcd (security wrapper) and read-me and installs to the following path by default unless you chose to install to a different path from the main installation. Those with multiple hard drives are able to save games on any drive they wish:

C:\Program Files (x86)\MyPlayCity.com\The Lake House - Children of Silence

Three shortcuts are installed to the desktop. Two of which i.e. the link to MyPlayCity Games and the Play Online Games link can be safely deleted. The game uses 859MB of hard drive space not counting save data.

The Game:

Lake House: Children of Silence is moody, atmospheric, and one amazing hidden object adventure game.

Everyone has their demons. Just look at Henry’s new fiancée Ann, in Lake House: Children of Silence. Ann’s little brother, Tommy, disappeared many years ago when the two were just children. But now when Ann is captured by a mysterious assailant who wears Tommy’s favorite metal mask, this incredible hidden object adventure shows just how easy it is for a person’s past to come back and haunt them.

The gripping story of Lake House: Children of Silence is told through a combination of cut-scenes, journal entries, and old reels of film, all of which provide some chilling insights into Ann and Tommy’s unusual childhood. There is an incredible sense of movement to all of the 2D visuals, whether in a character’s face as they speak, or in the little set pieces around the game world itself. For instance, at one point I used a heart key to unlock a gate that was guarded by two Cupid statues. Instead of just having the door open and move me into the next area, I was rewarded with a tiny animation of the two Cupids firing their arrows at the locks and breaking through the chains.

lake-house-children-of-silence-collectors-editio
lake-house-children-of-silence-screen-3
There are many little nuances like this that work wonders towards shaping the game’s atmosphere, from the haunting piano tones in the moody soundtrack, to the misty sea air that lays fog over the streets. The abandoned town beyond the lake house gives way to some truly spectacular locations, like a docked whaling ship, a rundown mask kiosk, and a dilapidated movie theater with tree branches poking through a gaping hole in the wall. And it’s an absolute blast exploring each and every one. I felt an early Silent Hill vibe going on as I played, right down to Tommy’s strange obsession with collecting masks, and the (seriously creepy) child drawings you’ll come across in Tommy’s old room.

Of course, an HOG’s story means nothing if it doesn’t have that perfect blend of puzzles and hidden object game play to match. Luckily, the game play of Lake House: Children of Silence is nearly flawless in execution. The puzzles are by far some of the most interesting and intricate I’ve ever seen in a hidden object game. From strategically placing fences on a model race horse track so that each horse crosses the finish line at the very same time, to completing a connect-the-dots drawing on a weathered, old chalkboard, you never know what kind of challenge lies in wait around the corner. My personal favorite puzzle has players navigating a tiny figurine through a dimly lit dollhouse, picking up items as they go along, and using those items to get by obstacles like snakes and gorillas so they can reach the next room. It’s a tiny bonus adventure game all in itself, and incredibly imaginative.

However, some of these puzzles like the race horse track can be real head scratchers, and without an in-game hint system to help guide you through them, might be a bit too challenging for some.

s01_800x600
screen_03
Still though, there is an impeccable balance between the amount of point-and-click exploration you’ll do around the lake house and the number of puzzles and hidden object scenes you’ll encounter. The hidden object scenes are much more of a supplement to the adventure rather than a constant distraction, with a nice interactive element that has you opening up that suitcase or smashing that hourglass with a hammer to cross that last object off your list. They also progress in difficulty the further you go on, with more cluttered environments and less obvious interactive components.

All of the point-and-click solutions are grounded in logic, and will lead to many “A-ha!” moments when you find an object that you know exactly where to use. Backtracking never feels redundant, and the beautifully-drawn world map lets you know which areas still have some unfinished business to attend to. The game’s length is very generous with a nicely sized world, and that doesn’t even include the four chapters’ worth of bonus content you’ll find in the Collector’s Edition. As you’re nearing the thrilling conclusion, you’ll actually find yourself speeding through the game’s final moments, eagerly clicking on objects to see how it all ends.

screen1
screen2
Every once in a while, a hidden object game comes along that stays with you long after its final objects are found. Lake House: Children of Silence is one of those games. From its incredible presentation, to the amazing variety in locations and puzzle design, the unforgettable tale of Ann and Tommy reminds us of what a great hidden object adventure should be like, and offers exciting twists and turns for gamer's of all ages.

Conclusion:
I've not played the game long enough to give an informed conclusion at this time. My initial opinion of the game is a well made HOG with excellent graphics and some great puzzles.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank MyPlayCity for giving away The Lake House: Children of Silence minus the check-boxes and also to the game giveaway team, as always, for providing a safe environment to download free games.

Useful Information:
The problems section that used to be posted here in the Game review is now included in the Game Discussion FAQ's thread; which you can find HERE.

I've updated the games section that used to be posted with the review. The thread is now called 'Weekly round up of game deals', formerly the games section of the weekly reviews. You can find the new thread (which I've posted in the sticky section of the game discussion forums to make it easier to find if you are perusing the game discussion forums) HERE.

The latest free game over on Origin is still Nox. Nox is an action role-playing game developed by Westwood Studios and published by Electronic Arts in 2000 for Microsoft Windows. It details the story of Jack, a young man from Earth who is pulled into a high fantasy parallel universe and has to defeat the evil sorceress Hecubah and her army of Necromancers to return home. Depending on the player's choice of character class at the beginning of the game (warrior, conjurer, or wizard), the game follows three largely different linear story lines, each leading to its unique ending. If you've ever played the early RPG's such as Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale or the early Fallout series and liked them, you'll probably like this game as well. It's 16 year sold now, but still looks pretty good for it's age. This type of game has held it's appeal and looks far more than the early first person games. I highly recommend it..

You can get it HERE. Please note that you do require the Origin game platform to be able to download and install the game.

If you are having problems installing the game check the thread I've linked to above. If you can't find any fixes check the comments made by the community below and over the last few weeks for suggestions. Thank you.

If today's game wasn't to your liking, you may find other games either free or for less than the price of a cup of coffee (from your favorite coffee house) via the 'Weekly Roundup of Game Deals' thread which I've posted a link to above, or HERE.

At this time there are some excellent free games available over on Ashraf's site 'Shareware on Sale'. If you are into shmup's there's one called Alert Sector 8 available for free HERE and an old classic Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell is available for free HERE. both are only available for a limited time, so go get them now otherwise you may be disappointed.

I've still not sorted out keys for a couple of community members. If you think you have a key coming for commenting on a game last month, please remind me over in the game discussion forums, and mention the comment you made. thank you. I want to make sure I've given out all of the keys I promised. thank you.

I'd like to to give a massive thank you to Whizzy or Mavadelo (his Steam name), who has created a review site for me. I am talking to him via Team Speak over the coming weeks while he tutors me in the ins and outs of the site. The site won't go live right away as I want to post lots of game reviews. It will be a combination of arcade and AAA game reviews, some old and some new, divided into appropriate genres. We intend to avoid any advertising, so the site should be safe to peruse without worrying about clicking on links that may send you to rogue sites or ad's. I will also try to post reviews of new releases. At least those that I purchase and we intend to include a free games section as well as regular game giveaways, though not like here as the games will be coming from my own personal stock of spare game codes. Most will be Steam codes, but I also have hundreds of other codes for Itch.io, Origin, uPlay and others. Although the site is nowhere near ready, you can check it out HERE, please feel free to leave comments in the forum section HERE. If you have any suggestions as to what you'd like to see, please post them in the forum. As yet there is no forum topics, but there will be soon. You do need to register to post in the forums. I will announce when the site is fully functional as soon as we can get it ready. I'm away on vacation in two weeks time, so it won't be until after them, but most probably not until late summer or early autumn/fall.

Downloaded surprisingly quickly. I closed AVG whilst installing, which was also quite quick - there was no massively long wait for the GGOTD site to respond.

What I've seen of the game so far is quite impressive. The graphics are lovely with some brilliant little animations at the most unexpected times.

The HOG scenes don't interfere with the rest of the storyline even though they end up giving something that'll be useful later on. HOG scenes aren't too easy either, but the 'you need to do this to find this' aren't as contrived as in some other games.

It's quite an atmospheric game too, quite a dark and creepy atmosphere with the odd surprise that'll make you jump if your volume is too high.

The only improvement would be for the map to be interactive, instead of having to physically move from place to place through scenes where there's nothing to do.

All in all it's a good game. Thanks GGOTD.

I tried downloading and installing the game (Lake House: Children of Silence), and although each time it said it was activated, the game opened as "Odysseus." I have downloaded many GOTD, and have never had a problem like this.

I forgot to add this to my last comment:

This is exactly the kind of game I prefer. As annoying as it is to find my browser hijacked every time I close the game, I find it's worth it to get games of this quality. True, I haven't played it yet, but I can tell a lot from the screen caps, and putting the name in google gave a number of positive reviews.

Thank you, GGOTD, MCP, and Whiterabbit.

I say stick with Whiterabbit! I'm glad you found a reason for your cat's problem. I hope you've found a way to stop her habit, although with a name like yours, it seems somewhat contradictory to insist she stop getting high.

About writing comments: My problem is that I may download the game on Saturday/Sunday, but it's often Tuesday or Wednesday before I have the chance to play and take a serious look at it. I wouldn't mind commenting on my opinions, but by then, it's too late and the comments are closed.

I'm wondering if it's possible to leave comments on each game open for a few days, or perhaps until a new game comes up the next weekend. I suppose that wouldn't help with the first game of the weekend, but there might be a way around that. Since, at the moment, you only have games on the weekend, it might not be as much of a challenge as it would on the other side, where they have a different software to review every day.

Just a thought...

Dusty

Hi Dusty, sorry for the late reply. I wasn't able to access the admin panel last weekend due to my main computer frying itself following a power cut. I don't often check the comments dueing weekdays. At least not until later in the week. i have only just recovered my password so am able to respond to you. You can post feedback at anytime, even after the giveaway has ended. I appreciate what you are saying. i'm sure most community members have the same issues with being able to play on the day of the giveaway. To access previous giveaways go to the bottom of the game givbeaway home page and click on the day the game was given away. Once open you can access the comments and post if you wish. It may not be moderated until the weekend for the reason mentioned above.. Regards

Sorry folks, I've not been able to access the site since this morning. We had a power cut and unfortunately the power surge that occured at the time has wrecked my main PC. I spent most of this afternoon trying to figure out what was wrong and after testing various components on one of my childrens computers, I came to the conclusion that the cpu and/or the motherboard has/have been fried. Consequently I'm unable to access my moderators account because the new password I was provided with a few months ago is stored my desktop notebook. Unfortunately I never bothered to change it to a password i'd be able to remember.

I've spent a couple of hours looking at second hand gaming computers as it looks like it will be cheaper to replace the whole computer rather than replace one or both the cpu and motherboard. :(

Sorry for the inconvinience.

Is anyone else getting a Trojan alert for 'games.exe'. The game won't run and I need to know if it is because my antivirus (Panda) program has guaranteed that file.

I notice when there's a HOG game is given away for free, there are a lot of positive comments. That being said, I love HOG and Point & Click puzzle/adventure games.

Thanks for this HOG game, really looking forward to playing it. It has downloaded while I post this. I'm sure install will go smoothly as always on Win 7.1 64 bit.

PS: If those of you worried about the extra's from my play city, there is a free uninstaller called "Geek Uninstaller". When you are ready to uninstall your game, it will remove all the extras and all the reg. keys for that game too with your OK to do it.

Installed easily, (still don't like the MPC claws)
I had this game a few years ago and enjoyed it
(Alawar games are so good and I am pleased to note that Steam has been featuring some of them at very good prices!)
I have moved away from generic hogs where one mindlessly find objects which have no plausible connection the plot of the current game .
I DO love the ones, that, like this game, are offered in a very innovative, "find and then use" format...
Also the game is much more like an "adventure light" which again, is tops in my books. ...
So thanks GGOTD and thanks Alawar for this fun game.....

using multiple scenes to find things is a great idea
thank you for the free games

Why the change to Share via Facebook (which I don't belong to) or email (privacy issues), in order to get the game free?

Not fair! Not everyone's on facebook or wants to share their email address!

I've played a few scenes and really enjoying it so far.
Could be improved with an interactive map, to save the backwards and forwards to different scenes

I absolutely love the eerie storyline. I find it very compelling. The storyline is matched up with superior graphics. The artistic aspects of the game are no less than awesome. HOGs are my favorite to begin with, but this game takes the cake. Great hidden object scenes top it off.

Thanks GGOTD and PlayCity for the gift today. Stephen, I enjoyed your review, as always.

Whiterabbit-uk: My sympathy & condolences! Coming after the previous week when you weren't well (and I didn't send well-wishes since I assumed it1d be best to just let you rest), this certainly is a major disturbance. Hope you have a recent image backup (outside the fried machine) to allow you to restore everything quickly after you get a new system!

The Lake House: Children of Silence is a HOG game, but better than the usual fare, downloaded to play with my handicapped daughter, and while she doesn't usually get into scary themed games this one had the right balance of a story without being actually scary to her.
The graphics and pages are quite well done, and even game play is fluid and fun, she really enjoyed this, maybe the most of any HOG she we have played yet. It is from MPC, which means you need to be careful installing, clear anything you can during the install, and you will get the popup browser link when you close the game, which is standard fare for their games.
The game is well done, and very playable, and I do have a suggestion for the developers, although it's almost a nitpick item, if they could add levels or sections that the player could play based on being a bit harder or easier this game would be completely in a different league..something to think about.

But overall a very nice game :) and this one will stay for her to play more, and that speaks to its quality and well thought out gameplay.

...................Moderator Comment.................

Hi Mike, I got both games the other day with no problems. The request for an email is so that registration details can be sent to the email.

I received an email from SharewareOnSale this morning saying the Shmup was ending later today. I've just checked and both are still live. ALERT: SECTOR 8 ends at 9am Monday 8th July (7 hours from now). Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell is available until August 1st. You do require a free uPlay account to be able to regiser Splinter Cell. ALERT: SECTOR 8 requires no game client.

I had no problems getting either game.

I never post links to such sites. Community members who have been coming to this site for years know me well for making sure any download links I post are safe to use. The owners would not allow me to post such links if I posted links to Phishing sites.

SharewareonSale is a decent and safe site, and is owned by Ashraf, who used to post reviews over on the main giveaway site.

Installation/registration seemingly went smoothly (with connections to GAOTD and MPC). Then, for the first time in my years here, my AV program (currently Panda) triggered on "game.exe" as containing a trojan. On starting the game I got: a splash screen wanting me to download another game, a loading bar, and three notices from my firewall of attempts to get online (I allowed the two to MPC, blocked the one to google); a few seconds later the splash screen disappeared ...and nothing else. Task Manager showed nothing new running. Two more attempts elicited the same results. So, sadly, I uninstalled (the description, screenshots, and comments made this game quite appealing).

I will also note that numerous icons and links to online games were installed ...not appreciated.

What am I doing wrong here!? This game and the Panopticon: Path of Reflections will not work for me. Going through GGOTD site, it downloads but when I attempt to install, it tells me the folder is empty. If I go to the My Play City site and download directly from them, it tells me I need to try again, that the files were not downloaded. I have disabled my firewall and anti-virus, set it to use the compatibility settings for XP SP2 and for windows 7 (which I have), and ran as administrator. Nothing works. I contacted them and they say they have no idea what is wrong. Any ideas what to do? Help..

Ok I managed to get both games downloaded after hours of frustration and trying different things. But I ran into a major issue with installing this one. I created a folder for games but it's on my D Drive. It keeps creating a folder in my C Drive to install. But there isn't enough room to hold it. Other times I would install in C Drive and then move the entire folder to my D Drive. But this one is too large of a file that it keeps cancelling the install before it's done, telling me there isn't enough space to install it. But it doesn't give me an option of where I want to install it to..it just keeps going to C Drive. Any ideas how I can change the location?

(Hi Stephen!)
Been a long time since I commented, but I won't unless I have something useful to add, and I hope this may help someone else.

This isn't just about today's game, but for all MPC games, and I've had to do this to get each of them to run. I use Panda antivirus, and each time I install a game from MPC it deletes the "game.exe" file which is part of an MPC package (yes, I understand why, and want to be clear it is NOT because it's an infected file - IT IS NOT INFECTED - but because it has an "action link" to open the MPC site, etc.), so none of their games will run from the game link installed on my laptop, and Panda does this every time.

My workaround: open the "Properties" window for the game link on the desktop or in the Programs menu and simply change the "Target" link to point to "engine.exe" in the program's installed main folder. Today's link pointed to "The Lake House - Children of Silence.exe", for example - just change that to "engine.exe". Their installed link does a "cascade" Open command, with that little ad window opening first while it shows an activity bar, and then it's supposed to trigger game.exe, and finally the actual game itself loads, but on my machine it simply stops loading, the ad window closes, and - nothing....

Changing the link to "engine.exe" works every time, and every game has run with no further problems. Plus, I still get the MPC homepage open at game close, so they still get their micropayment.

Haven't played this game yet so no comment there, except I like HOGs and it's an Alawar game, so I'm already sure it'll be worth playing!

Thank you MPC for the giveaways, thanks for posting games worth downloading and playing, and thank you Stephen for continuing to moderate... I know it isn't easy for you (like herding cats, I suspect), but we DO appreciate all your efforts!
John

Thank you for your feedback JL, please forgive the extremely late moderation (a week late). I wasn't able to access the admin panel until last night, almost a week later becasue my passwords were stored on the computer that died on me last week.

Such a nice game! It took 10 minutes to download, installation on a Windows10 laptop. I have not much to wish for with this one. Excellent music, not too easy puzzle, very well done.

Perhaps more of that music? It is a bit repetitive when you have a lot to do in the same part of the game.

Compliments, have a nice week!

Went to the new review site....I know you said to leave comments in the forum but I can find no way to do that. You have to sign in to post and I can't see where to set up such a sign in. The links on the menu bar all work although that gray type is blurry. In the forum section that bright green on top of the gray background is very hard to read and hard on the old eyeballs. Will check back later to see if there is an answer to this....hope this is successful for the both of you.

This is a great HO...good story, nice graphics and fits together sensibly. I already have the game and have played it several times (thank MPC). Wish al HOs were put together so well. Very happy to see some of my favorite games from MPC here.....now if I could just find one I don't already have or have played :D

Anyone thinking about it....go for it....you won't be sorry.

Thanks for The Lake House - a little creepy, but a good HOG which are my favorite genre.
Had to laugh when I saw the snips for the game. The first one is for (I think) Living Legends, Ice Rose.

Oop's.... I thought it wasn't right at the time, but was so tired this morning I didn't proof read, or check anything properly. I just wnated to post it then go back to bed, then disaster struck later that morning when we had a power cut which fried my main computer. Sinc ethen I've been totally preoccupied and there's no way I can delete the image because I can't access the admin panel. My password is stored in my desktop notebook on the fried comuter. It's a relatively new password, so I haven't learnt it yet. :(

This is a really excellent game. I played it a while ago, and found that it varied from reasonably straightforward to downright taxing!

The storyline is good and keeps your attention throughout.

The HOGs are tricky but not impossible (items are in view - not mainly hidden behind others).

The puzzles are in the main tricky - I'm afraid I had to skip a couple.

A lot of the fun was trying to work out where you should go scene-by-scene. I had to have recourse to a walkthrough on a couple of occasions, but that was because I was impatient to get to the next stage of the story!

In all, a really good game for HOG fans, Adventure fans, HOPA fans.

This is a great game with lots to do, as well as an interesting storyline. Beautiful artwork! If you love HOGs, don't miss this one.

I downloaded this game, deleted the 3 shortcuts that do not belong to the game itself and realized that once again the actual game shortcut has a shield on it, which means it has to be run as an administrator. For Steam I don't mind doing this but Steam doesn't ever pop up windows to their webpage or give me shortcuts I don't ask for. I trust them. I do not trust MPC. I did not attempt to tell it not to run as admin. I uninstalled it. To me, there is no reason a game, free or paid for, should need admin privileges. I know it doesn't seem like it should be a big deal but when I already don't trust the fact that it pops up a window and puts extra shortcuts on my desktop, I REALLY don't trust when the installation programs needs change some features in the regedit. No game needs to change things in the registry after install. Sorry, I know I've said it before but I'll have to say it again, I'm staying far away from any MyPlayCity downloads.

I appreciate your honesty in letting everyone know upfront about the shortcuts and browser pop up but I just can't get past the Admin thing.

I have no need of downloading today, because after I finally "got" how to play these games, I downloaded this (and many others) from My Play City already. Yes, I'm hooked now.... I don't usually follow the story line, either using the "skip" feature if there is one, or keep clicking "next" without reading... I'm an impatient sort.

Best features - this and several others have finally begun lightening up the scenes - while I can see that one doesn't want the game to be too easy, it is impossible if your eyesight isn't perfect to see or distinguish what is on the screen, making it less enjoyable. (I try to go as far as I can without using a hint button - in fact, have managed to get through a few of the genre without ever touching it, but don't want to have to use hints to find half the hidden objects! Makes the game take way too long to play, and the impatience kicks in ;) )

Downloaded rather quickly for the size of it.... think it took about 11 minutes or so. Installed with no problems on my laptop running Windows 10.
I only played briefly to make sure it was going to run ok. I like the graphics and the story line.
Thank you GGOTD team for what appears to be a very well done HOG and to whiterabbit for, as always, a well written synopsis of the game.

Seems all the games on here recently are of some type of evil subject. Is there a hidden agenda going on GOTD?

Reply   |   Comment by Dave  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-5)

Dave, Go to MPC or BFG and you will see that in the HOG categories most are of the horror genre. This is not a hidden agenda on behalf of someone that gives you a free game. Besides, yesterdays game was a slide word game.

I too have downloaded this game and played it before. It's well worth it if you like the challenge of hidden objects and interesting puzzles. To some extent the story itself is irrelevant, it's the fun of playing the game and working out what to do next.

Personally, I don't download MyPlayCity games from here any more but direct from their website. You do have to be careful to untick all the relevant boxes unless you want them as your homepage etc, otherwise there are loads of games on there. It's also handy going direct if downloading from here is slow.

Thank you GOTD for introducing me to all these games and to MyPlayCity.

Keep up the good work!

Steve

Thank you for your feedback Grootviske.

Usually we've had a couple of thousand downloads an hour into the game giveaway, but since the changes, download numbers have been reduced significantly. At this time only 104 community members have registered the game. That probably explains the faster than normal download for such a large download size (at least for an arcade game). Download number increase significantly for several hours once America wakes up in about 2 or three hours from now. I always used to download as soon as the games went live (here in the UK it's usually 8 or 9am, depending on whether it's winter or summer). I rarely found download speeds were reduced significantly unless i downloaded later in the morning/early afternoon. Since moderating I've usually had access to the downloads a few days before, though not to install.

I've already bought and played this game awhile ago, so am not taking advantage of today's giveaway. But wanted to comment for others who are considering whether to download or not: I thought this was a really good game and well-worth playing. Good puzzles and HO scenes, and an interesting story. The ending was only so-so imho, but gameplay up till then was so much fun that this is one of the few games in my considerable HOPA inventory that is marked as "watch for a sequel"...so much fun & challenge that I want more like it. Strong encouragement to folks to give it a try.

Thank you for your feedback Lurker Cat. p.s. love the online name.

My daughter suggested I change my online name to Toad Licker after our cat had to be taken to the vet a few weeks ago with a massive saliva/drooling problem. Turns out she had been licking toads, which apparently have a poisonous mucus coating on their skin, lol. I decided not to follow her suggestion as it sounds a little disgusting and besides, I've used slight variations of my online name name ever since I first created an online account and email many years ago. (i.e. Whiterabbit-uk, Whiterabbit01, Whiterabbit1956 and Slickwhiterabbit (Grace Slick, singing Whiterabbit while with Jefferson Airplane)
