We've had issues with such trolls for a few years now. I tried to reason with this particular troll last year, but they reverted to type. Its best to just ignore them as they probably have issues with themselves that leads them to be so negative.

I just let their sad comments wash over. Why bother responding as that's what they are hoping for so that they can post more vitriolic/sad comments that reflect who they are. That particular person also uses a few different names now that we can ban both name and email.

Exactly right!
FWIW, both the UK & the US [and parts of the EU] have had, & are having serious problems with Widespread disinformation. The main way that it becomes so widespread is by using the troll's techniques -- every bit of attention magnifies their message, so what comes from a few people seems to come from sometimes many thousands [if not millions]. I know of course that this was a single troll -- not anything of magnitude -- and apologize for the maybe overblown reply, but anytime someone is seeking negative attention, here or anywhere in life, it's best to deny them that, at least publicly.

Thankfully most of the comments from a particular troll are usually hidden from the community due to using a VPN (sometimes their language is like being in a barrack room full of low rank combat troops).
