Unfortunately I'm unable to play The Exorcist due to the following issue:

unplayable. I've reinstalled the game a few times and tried it on one of my laptops, but get the same issue.
I decided to drag out one of my older twin core computers and installed the game onto it (with a Win 8.1 OS) and it worked fine. It's almost evening time and as only a few community members have shown any interest in the game, I'm not going to bother writing up a review of the game. From the limited game play I've already had, it feels like a standard RPG Maker game, with graphics that are okay (It uses the RPG Maker MV engine, which is the latest iteration of the engine. If you own a copy of MV you should be able to play around with this game and add your own content. :) game play is okay (at least as far as I progressed in less than an hours worth of game play. If you are into this type of top down role playing game its worth checking out.
I've added a few extra screen captures to the end of this mini review. :)

The Exorcist
In Brief
The Exorcist is a casual RPG adventure that is still in early access on Steam HERE; however, today's version isn't a Steam key , but a free standing version of the game.
ss-3587de7d082a8104e682227338f229b493ca55b4
Installation:
The Exorcist downloads to a 383 MB zip file that unzips to two files, (a setup excecutable and a read me). The game installs to the following path by default, but can be changed if you wish. The installed game is approximately 447/506 MB in size.
C:\Program Files (x86)\The Exorcist
Five shortcuts are installed to the desktop, four of which can be safely deleted . If you want the games shortcut to be installed to the desktop, make sure the appropriate checkbox is checked. Even if this is left unchecked you will still get the four internet shortcuts installed to the desktop; (i.e. Falco Space - Online Game!, FalconLine Online Games Website, FalcoGo WebGL Games! and Free Games Downloads!). Also, if you don't like icons installed to the quick launch task bar, make sure the appropriate checkbox is unchecked when the 'additional task's window appears (after the Select Start Menu Folder window).
Introduction:
The Exorcist is a game made with RPGMaker. You are a young exorcist called Alonso starting out on one of your first dangerous assignments. You are to excorsize a demon called Sargatans (a Seraph fallen from Heaven in Lucifer's rebellion). The demon is a bloodthirsty and intimidating demon; who, knowing of your quest has challenged you for your soul. Your investigations have left you terrified of this demon because of the terrible deeds you have uncovered in your research.
Your research leads you to modern day Italy, where before you finally encounter Sargatis, you have to vanquish other hellspawn.

The Game:
I'm unable to post my own views on the game due to the game not working on my system. however because the game was made with RPG Maker (not sure which version, but from the images provided it's most likely to be RPG Maker VX). The game play will follow the usual mechanics of that engine; so, basically you wander around a world picking up various weapons, health packs and armor. On your travells you can enter most buildings and will inevitably encounter various non-playing characters (NPC's), that you can interact with via a dialogue box. These often give you additional quests to complete, so it is worth talking to all NPC's if you want to get the full blown experience out of a game made with RPG Maker. You will also inevitably encounter various enemy combatants and engage in battles against these foes. Initially the enemeies will be low power enemie, but as your character improves strength and health wise, so dtoo do the enemies you encounter. to face the final boss in these games, you will have had to buff your character with the best armour and weapons you can find as well as build up a stock of health related potions. The fighting system uses the basic RPG fighting system where you take turns to attack each other.

The Elder Scrolls celebrates its 25th Anniversary this week since the first in the series ''Arena'' was released in 1994. If you create a free account at Bethesda.com this Sunday 31st March, you will get a free copy of the third Elder Scrolls game Morrowind HERE. Accessing other Bethesda pages and you'll get a pop up giving you a button link to redeem the code ''TES25TH-MORROWIND'' This can only be done on the 31st March.

Many fans of the franchise still say Morrowind, released in 2003-4 is the best of the lot despite its aging graphics; I agree. When I first played Morrowind 15 years ago I was literally gob-smacked by the gameplay and at the time the beautiful open world environment. Granted, it looks dated now, but its still brilliant. Later iterations of the game look amazing, though Bethesda/Zenimax have dumbed down the game slightly since Morrowind. Of all the games I've ever played, The Elder Scrolls in my number one favorite game. If I was only able to take one game franchise with me it would be The Elder Scrolls, with its brother game Fallout coming a close second.
You can get also get the first two games in the series free from Bethesda HERE(Arena) and HERE (Daggerfall ). If you buy the add-on The Elder Scrolls: Battlespire via GOG , they include Arena and Daggerfall for free. The GOG versions come with emulators that enable you to play the games without having to mess around with separate emulators.

Also, all the Elder Scrolls titles are on sale over on Steam during the 25 year celebrations. You can find then all Here until Monday evening.

Whiterabbit-uk, I can't play it either. My old XP SP3 test computer yields "The procedure entry point ReleaseSRWLockExclusive could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll." meaning it is not XP compatible. I'll have to load it on my Win 7 computer if I want to try it...
You might try searching for your error and try to find a solution HERE ?

Trying 2 B Helpful,

Hi Trying 2 B Helpful
Thank you for your feedback and suggestion. :)
I've added the appropriate code to your link. For future reference you can use the following code when posting links (Leave all lower case characters and REMOVE ALL CAPITAL characters from the following; replacing all the Capitals with the appropriate keys (forward slash {/} which is used to end a code plus the two arrow keys - forwards {>} and back {<} arrows). They are usually located next to the right shift key on your keyboard).
Unfortunately it's not possible to post the code unless you remove the arrow keys and forward slash characters. Using them makes the code invisible when posted:

PLACE BACK ARROW HEREaADD SPACE HEREhref="PLACE YOUR LINK HERE"ADD SPACE HERErel="follow"PLACE BACK ARROW HEREstrongPLACE FORWARD ARROW HEREADD THE NAME OF THE LINK HERE OR WHAT YOU WANT THE COMMUNITY TO SEEPLACE BACK ARROW HEREPLACE FORWARD SLASH HEREstrongPLACE FORWARD ARROW HEREPLACE BACK ARROW HEREPLACE FORWARD SLASH HEREaPLACE FORWARD ARROW HERE
I hope the above is useful (and not too confusing). I'm not intending it to be condescending, just informative. :)

I've tried to install this twice and keep getting an error message. Is this happening to anyone else? If so, how did you fix it?

Update: It ran for a little while, but just when Alonzo was going to accept his third job, the click Yes to answer the telephone gave a "failed to load" error.

Up to that point, the game was mega simple, with arrows to let you know what to look at next and circles to indication what location to go to next. Minimal interaction with the environment - no random books to read from bookcases, or jumping into your own bed to sleep. The translation is exceedingly oddly done at times, as Steam reviewers mentioned, and options in the Menu are spelled incorrectly. The sounds for laughter, screams and such are also strangely timed, but that's not too jarring.

It's a pity it failed because, though it's a bit simplistic on the subject of exorcism (up to my playtime), it was fun and I giggled a bit. My mouse is kaput, but this was easy to play on track pad. You'll need to use right click to open the character menu.

Thanks for the offer anyway. I may give it a try again later or Wishlist for a Steam winter sale. If anyone knows of any other games within this theme, please let me know. Cheers.

Hi hi. Installed fine on my external hard drive - that's where GoTD offerings always go. In the first screen, you see a flag, perhaps Russian. Just click the arrow and the Union Jack (English) is the next flag to appear. Click the flag. Now you're ready to play the game, fiddle with settings, etc.

Never saw a message like the one you got, Mr. Whiterabbit. No idea how to fix it either. Need to go out today, but perhaps can play a little during breakfast and post finding later in the day either here or in the forum. Cheers. ^_^

The only reason I clicked on the link for this game is cuz of the photo "describing" it. These games should be more honest on what the actual game is like: the photo realistic illustration for the game has NOTHING to do with the actual graphics of the game. ANNOYING. (Grrrrr...!)

It looks like this game is NOT in English? Anyway to change the language to English?

joanofark06,

Hi,
The dialogue you see in the first images I posted were in Latin, the language some priests still use. However, the game has two language choices, English and Russian. If you choose English, most of the dialogue is in English. The Latin phrases have been used to give the game a little atmosphere.
