I downloaded the Elefun wallpapers. Worked fine on my machine. I found I could turn screensavers and wallpapers both off by pushing escape. Also the stuff in the box with the time and date??? well, it had an icon, and if I right clicked I could exit out. I especially liked the screensavers because with babies in the house, they love nothing better than an unattended computer. With this they push buttons and wiggle the mouse and the SS just keeps going.

Now what I want to know is how to get the new "themes" into the game?

I also burned out on tetris - but on the computer in the 90's. This is much better, love the backgrounds. Disliked the black shapes - very frustrating - but a rubber bomb will take care of them if they get too bad.

Controls were a bit choppy and caused it to misplace a few shapes. Loved the bouncing shapes. Had my 4 yo niece giggling up a storm. But I'ld still only give it 6 or 7. Not quite a thumbs up in my book. But definately not a thumbs down. I'll keep it for entertaining the kids.

Thanks JEG comment #37. I'd forgotten that Emails could be left that way. I've Emailed the whole list to one of the team quite some time back. Some of the links give you a link to a web page, but apart from that nothing else out of the ordinary. I'm sure of the ones that I sent, there will be some totally clean ones though. (I hope anyway, as iot took me an age to compile the list)I also posted a shortened list on these comments section some time back as well as the occasional taster such as poing from a few days ago. Which is a fantastic freeware breakout.

I wonder if there are 2 controls for turning - 1 for clockwise, 1 for counterclockwise?

I consider that to be very important because without it, you have to press the button 3 times in order to position some pieces.

The original Gameboy Tetris had this (2 different buttons), but I haven't seen a clone that does.

I'll have to try this out and see.

Yes another Tetris clone but this one is very nice, better than the recent giveaway clone Tetrize. Tetpic 5000 has very beautiful animated background themes, it contains six: Alpine Lake, Dragonfly, Fireplace, Simple Background, Three Windmills, Watermill. The screenshots above don't do the backgrounds justice, they look much nicer in the game and the best themes aren't shown in the screenshots. Relaxing music is very soothing. Game starts with a control panel where it's possible to add/change themes and music. Clicking "Start" brings a new screen with in-game options and there's a lot of those.

Graphics options to change resolution, 16/32 bit, fullscreen or windowed, VSync on'/off and frame detail. Sound options have volume controls for background sounds (nature sounds), game sounds and music. Controls allows use of mouse or keyboard and sensitivity of either is adjustable. (They spelled it as "sensetivity".) Game control option allows adjustable frame type, frame opacity and how lines are destroyed.

Game play works well with either mouse or keyboard. With mouse you right click to rotate falling pieces, left click to make them fall faster, pieces move side to side by mouse movement. There's three ways to play, traditional Tetris, something called "Pentix", and a color mode that's really interesting. In color mode right click to change order of color blocks in the falling piece, match three or more colors to eliminate lines. Several bonuses like bombs that are activated by hitting Enter, a rotation bonus on color mode that rotates the board and so changes order of colors, and a circular saw that appears randomly and destroys lines.

Unlike the recent Tetrize, color of the blocks is much easier to see in this one as they are opaque. The transparent colored blocks in Tetrize made some colors difficult to distinguish as there were several different blues, yellows and greens that were too close in color to distinguish without opaque saturation. I will be uninstalling Tetrize in favor of this one. Other than the color mode play Tetpic 5000 is traditional Tetris, but it's worth the download for all the eye candy, music/nature sounds and so many changeable options.

Re: #24 Ricccardo: It shouldn't mess up multi monitor systems if you change the options that appear in the initial control panel on start. Either uncheck the option to open as fullscreen or change the resolution in the drop down spin box.

Good morning everyone! ;)

This game has really beautiful, changeable animated backgrounds. While this may be an annoyance to some, I really loved them. I also enjoyed the REAL music ;) as opposed to what other game developers tend to use these days.

The options screen blew me away, as it is the most comprehensive that I've ever seen for a game. It has a setting for practically everything, including those that you'd expect.

Having said all the nice things - it's just - Tetris.

I remember playing it to death on my kid's Gameboy back in the 80s, but with the quality of games these days, I'd rather spend my game time playing something new and exciting - and a few bombs added doesn't make the game exciting.

As I've said every single time, I'm just not a fan of Elefun games, who seem to use tired game engines, instead of developing something new themselves.

I'm sure someone else will enjoy their games though and for that I say a big thank you to Elefun for the opportunity that it provides to them.

Thanks again GOTD, but no thanks.

I give the game a 2 for amazing graphics - 1 for the music - another 1 for their great options screen and -1 for using an old game engine.

Total = 3/10 and a thumbs down rating.
Definitely uninstalled.

so the music is relaxing. Credits go to you Giveaway and to you also

While I don't really care much for Tetris-type games, this one isn't too bad, really. I could see it being a lot of fun for those who like this kind of game.

The graphics were good, and you have the option before you start the game to use different themes for your background, like alpine lake or fireplace. You can change how the puzzle pieces act, too, when you set them as a brick or a ball. Hitting enter during a game will bring up some bounce bombs, which, as their name implies, will bounce around hitting random dropped puzzle pieces, rather than just dropping straight down to blow out an area.

The music is all right, although somewhat annoying. You do have the option to turn the music all the way down and just listen to the background noises or sound effects. Really, the themes used are like miniature animated screensavers, but they're still different and more interesting than a plain old one color background.

Using the controls again, you can enable or disable the mouse, or change the sensitivity of the mouse/keyboard. To the developers, sensitivity is spelled incorrectly in the options menu. I didn't see much difference in the game when I changed the settings on things like opacity, but I didn't try that setting in all of the screen sizes available. Long comment short, there are a lot of options on this game that the player can set, enough to where even someone like me, who doesn't care for this kind of game, was interested enough to at least mess around and play this for a while.

The one negative, for me, was that during game play it wasn't possible to hit the minimize button on the game so that I could do other things on the computer. I had to bring up the task manager, THEN click the minimize button, do what I needed to do, and so on and so forth. That was pretty annoying, as I'm generally doing more than one task when I'm at the computer, and the ability to minimize without a lot of trouble is pretty important to me.

First my review: This is probably the best Tetris clone I have ever played. I don't even like Tetris very much, but this game has great graphics, decent music, and well enough sounds. It has several game modes, so make sure to check them all out. The color mode is one of my favorite styles, completely changing the type of game. This is one of if not the best thing I have downloaded here yet. If you like Tetris make sure to check this one out.

Fun and Features: 8/10
Graphics: 6/10
Music: 6/10
Sound: 4/10

Overall: 8/10

@ Commenter 6: I checked out the others you mentioned but the decent looking games were not free, they were shareware, and the ones you mentioned were made by EleFun, which made this game here (That's why they look the same/use same engine). The one I did happen to find for free installed some annoying software extras that I did not want. This Tetris clone really is great, thanks for the tips on the others though.

Sorry about the multiple posts. I've just discovered that the animated walpapers can't be turned off via the usual method and have to be turned off using the task manager (Control, Alt, Delete), processes. It interferes with any game I tried to play. That is it caused them to CTD. Once the wallpaper was turned off the games worked again. It doesn't affect applications though. I tested todays as well as several others and they all worked fine. If you don't play a lot of games, the animated wallpapers should be fine, but they aren't for me. :(

When you click on the game icon the first window to pop up will give you the option of selecting themes. If you click on this button it will take you to another window where you'll find another link that is given for more backgrounds. It takes you to the Elefun homepage, where it seems they offer an animated screensaver of the day free of charge. Todays is an autumn one, which for free is pretty cool. It has falling leaves and birds flying around. The foreground has two trees with autumn colored leaves, with a very bright sunrise in the background. I'm going to check back tomorrow to see if there is a different one. You'll need to download the game first as i'm not going to post the direct link to the page. you'll have to follow the link from the game, lol. (I'm just too busy right now, sorry.

I used to play tetris till my head ached back in the mid to late 80's when the first gameboys game out. I've not played it much since, and usually found the clones i've come across didn't give me the pleasure I found with that portable box; however the last two tetris clones have been a rther pleasant. I particularily like this one because you can add new backgrounds, although the ones that come with the game are fine. I found the interface clean and tidy, and the blocks a pleasure to look at. The power ups are usful, but I forgot to check on other control methods.

6 out of 10 ------no it's worth at least a 7 out of 10 IMO

Thanks Elefun Multimedia and GGAotD for this pleasant game.

I have tried many trial versions of many games and software... some I liked, some I didn't like. GAOTD is the greatest place to get the freebies when you are a tad short of funds. What a novel idea! You folks have come up with the wonderful idea of deluxe versions for free. The advertising for the developers is now world wide....another great idea. I know I will visit the developers websites and very likely purchase games from them. I didn't realize until I bookmarked GAOTD that there were so many more developers out there. I do not have a website to advertise for these things but I do email my family and friends about GAOTD every week just to make sure they see it all. You're doing a wonderful job here making folks aware of many more developers and the software they are producing. WTG GAOTD! You're on the very top of my "favorites" list. :-)

As i already wrote at Tetrize, thisi game is identical to many similar clones of these Tetris-like games (Tetris 4000, Tetpic5000, Tetris 5000, Terminal Tetris, etc.).

For a list of these look here:
http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Best/tetris-5000-3d.html
http://www.download-free-games.com/tetris_download/tetris_4000.htm

It seems, that someone of these little groups made a 3D engine and now other “small companys” are using the same engine for (almost) every 3D animated tetris.

Anyway, nice game.

Thanks for thisone GGAOTD!
Best regards,
dpoint
