Back in time a decade or more and you have "Moorhuhn" for the PC from Phenomedia. Back in time 2 decades you have "Duckshot" from Nintendo.

The Cowboy on the start screen should have inspired the programmer to do some western game..... but.....

Big thanks to Will S. for pointing me to BlueStacks for playing Android games on a PC or laptop, and to Joe for the reference to Arlo Guthrie's 'Alice's Restaurant Massacree' -- a great piece that I like to hear several times a year. It pays to read these comments!

I thought this game could be a good way to keep your physical reflexes sharp for 5-10 minutes at a time, but didn't download because I don't even want to kill cartoon animals: why couldn't they have used skeets, or balloons, or something?

So, no DL and no vote. I'll enjoy Questerium and look forward to next weekend.

Sorry but this game doesn't make any sense, not even for a phone or tablet. It is very predictable. Shooting birds... Really?
It seems, at least to me, it lacks everything to make it enjoyable.

Absolutely; glad I didn't spend hours writing up a review. :)

It seems developers are porting more and more games from the mobile platform to Windows. This game tries to get away with cloning duck hunt but fails on all levels of being original. Not only does the game have lots of glitches - but also it's crashed a couple of time as well.

Wait! I thought that in today's vernacular that "tap" meant something completely different, but that would have been extremely nasty!

I bought stock in Logitech a couple weeks ago. I suppose that these kind of games will make my stock go up. CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK that mouse until it wears OUT OUT OUT OUT and earn me some money when you have to buy a new one!

OK, now that I got that out of my system, I downloaded and installed with no problems Win 8 64 bit.
I had the same problem you did Whiterabbit. It kept crashing on level 5, so I uninstalled and deleted the files.
The complaints about killing cartoon birds seem a bit silly to me, but then I don't mind shooting guns. The people with the problems with speed are probably having either compatibility or clock speed issues, it's not easy to tell without seeing the system.
It might have been a nice little, mindless time waster, if it didn't keep crashing.
Thanks GGOTD, looking forward to the next game.

I tried it but after killing 3 birds I uninstalled it. I`m not into killing anything. I keep a jar by the front door to capture bugs to take outside alive. I`m not into hunting. I don`t like this game even though it`s just a game it`s the same to me. Thumbs Down :(

Much of my take on this has already been covered.

My initial thought was that it was a game designed for mobile phones and the like and for students to play while they wait for the bus.
It isn't to easy to play on a laptop - with a mouse pad, nor I should imagine with a mouse on a PC.

As for the game itself; there are no instructions (not that many are needed), there's no real variety, no facility to make the game windowed (full-screen only), no way of knowing what score is needed to progress.
The time for each level seems fairly random as are the number of 'bullets'.

Once I completed all the levels - which took about half an hour, my screen was covered with the message "LOADING NEW LEVELS". I waited for about 5 minutes, then gave up and uninstalled the game. Which in all honesty is the best thing I can recommend if you download it.

For any students taking the time to play 'Tap the bird' my advice is DON'T. Spend the time washing instead.

In conclusion, this game becomes boring quite quickly, it isn't fit for the bigger screen and I have to agree with the earlier, similar comments.

Download was fast as was the installation. No problems were detected.

I happen to like the game format but don't like to play games on my phone. It is a brainless, simple shooter but I like those to just kill small amounts of time. It was way to fast to play on my computer but if there were options to slow it down I would have considered keeping it. When I want to play an android games on the computer I use Bluestacks which so far has not produced an unplayable speed issue like this.

Thank you for the experience...but no thank you.

Try reinstalling it, or go into compatibility mode and select different options to see if it fixes the problem. If that fails, check the FAQ's section in the Game discussion forum's. Thank you.

This is borderline "off topic", but if these birds flying by was from "that other bird game", and you got to shoot them... many times... this would be a keeper!

If it helps in understanding "Tap The Bird", some of the Android pros feel that the formula for a hit game is to create something simple, yet impossible [or nearly so] to master. Flappy Bird was the essence of this strategy -- it was difficult because of the limitations of smart phone touch screens, & the thumbs tapping them, and because that's the way the way the games controls were designed. Players would come just close enough that they *had* to try again... and again, and again, and again... Many game devs get ad revenue every time someone plays one of their games, so the constant "trying again" was the whole point -- it's made more than a few extremely good money.

Not everyone falls for this sort of game -- quite a few Android users ignore them, & many of the folks writing about Android stuff go out of their way telling everyone how much they loath them. But loads of people will pull out their cell phone intending to play a quick game if they're on or waiting for a bus or train or bored at work or wherever, & that's when these devs lure them in.

That's not to knock PlayJoWee Publishing, or to make light of their offering Tap The Bird today. Maybe some like to play this sort of thing in Windows? If not, hopefully the devs get some market research out of it being here today.

The only thing 'incredible' about this game is that someone decided to use the word 'incredible' to describe it.

You have to have a machine gun or the fastest finger alive! The birds fly by so fast that there is no time to aim, just keep randomly clicking the mouse and hope for the best. The is no skill required, no quail or phesant popping up out of the grass some where in front or to the side of you and you have to quickly take aim & shoot. It's a flat sceene where the birds fly past at several levels & they come past from both sides of the screen. Pick a path & click as fast as you can & hope for the best! Was hoping I would like this. I like hunting game birds because there is skill involved, your not mindlessly shooting into the air and hoping to hit something. Sorry, This could have been much better. I don't know if it was designed for slower devices & thus running on high speed desk & laptops makes it run at an really fast pace or if it was just designed that way.

.........................Moderator Comment..............................

It was designed for the android market and ported over for PC. I would expect the game to be much easier to play using a touch screen. I couldn't keep my eyes on the mouse most opf the time, so was clicking blindly.

I couldn't even get the file to install, integrity check error. All too often the software from GOTD won't install due to errors in the archive files. Thankfully, this game seems to be below average anyway so perhaps it's done me a favour.

Hi Gordon, I've been downloading and installing game giveaways since the very first one and apart from a few (and of those all but one were solved) I’ve never had problems installing them. There are changes made to the original installation files to accommodate the giveaway wrapper, but the actual game remains untouched. When problems arise with some community members, more often than not there is either a security conflict with their anti malware programs, or a conflict with other programs running in the background. There's also the way some community members have their computers set up that can cause problems. It's only a tiny percent of the community that have problems installing these games.

Suprisingly quick on my computer, a real challenge to get a good score - HOWEVER...I will not be keeping this, a bird shooting game is not my cup of tea...

Incidentally, it wanted to install in USER data, rather than the usual c:\games directory...and they can't spell the name of their own game correctly, calling it both "TAP the bird" and "TAB the bird".

Downloaded, installed and tested the first screens.

The game is what it says. Birds fly by. You click on them with your mouse, and they die.
Repeat.

My version kept crashing on screen 5 or something like that.
But that might just be my computer.

So... basic shooter on a fixed screen. If you like that, you might like this game as well.

Thanks for your feedback Spredo; I kept failig on level 5, couldn't progress, so gave up

I will not be posting a review for today’s game; maybe just some images, a very brief synopsis and hopefully a video. Those should give you enough visual input to see what the game entails. I don't think today's game is worth me spending three or four hours playing, and then writing up a review. It's basically a point and click at the birds flying past you as quickly as you can to earn either a one, two or three star rating for each level.

I will still be moderating throughout the day (assuming I can get access to my computers. The kids had friends sleeping over last night and had commandeered my main and spare computers; I'm sure they will want mine again once they have been breakfasted, lol

:D

Later guys

Have a very restful Sunday. I can see today’s game giving some repetitive strain injury. :(

The game has been ported over from android/Microsoft apps. Today's game giveaway shouldn’t be confused with the game 'Tap the Birds', which while I was researching, seems a little more interesting than Tap the Bird. Nor should today's game giveaway be confused with the game of the same name that involves spelling exercises. I couldn’t find any information about today's game, nor could I find a video; (I only looked on You Tube and only searched through a couple of pages). The game is divided up into biomes e.g. Desert, Mountains, Tropics and City. There are a couple with question marks. I don't know whether these are for future updates which we won’t get, or whether they have to be unlocked. Each biome has four levels divided up into Day, Night, Sunset and Dawn, basically the game comprises of only 16 levels or 24 if the ones with question marks are included.
