Not into today's offer, but thanks for the review and that additional info. about roms and abandonware. Now, if only had room for stuff, lol.

It's Tankman, but everyone pronounces it as Tankmin. Just FYI, and fortunately this quirk does not take away from the gameplay.

frank, The province of Newfoundland, coincidentally, is pronounced Newfindlind. In common with this game.

Tankman
In Brief
Tankman is a top down arena tank shooter (TDS).

Introduction:
Tankman is a top-view TDS arena shooter where the player acts as a fearless tank man. The task is to hold out in the arena and defeat all enemies. Do not let the enemy tanks knock you out, one hit and you are dead, but the universe throws up help for you in the form of boosts for your combat vehicle.
Edited reference accessed HERE. 14th November 2019
The Game:
Your tank is controlled by the WASD keys. This is a very fast game, where one hit will see you destroyed. Use the cover to protect yourself from incoming tank fire and strike when they have just fired for the best possible chance of surviving. Most of the cover is destructible and only takes a few hits to be destroyed. This can also be used to your advantage, especially if you have just picked up an increase rate of fire power up. Power-ups/boosts appear randomly; pick up these power up/boosts as quickly as you can because the enemy tanks can also pick them up and benefit from them. There is a total of 18 levels and four different enemy tanks with different weapons. The left mouse button fires normal shells, you can keep the left mouse button depressed for a constant stream of shells. The right mouse button fires off a limited supply of rebound shells. These can be used to destroy tanks that are behind shelter, fire them much like playing a game of pool by getting the angle of reflection correct for a bulls eye shot. You also get a limited supply of mines. These can be laid by clicking the middle mouse button. You can see the number of mines and rebound shells you have via the indicators along the bottom of the arena. These indicate the number of tanks, the number of mines and the number of rebound shells you have. There will usually be at least two enemey tanks spawned on the early levels. When you destroy one they will re-spawn at specific places that look like metal trap doors. I would suggest placing a mine next to the area where they spawn. You aim your turret using your mouse pointer. The power up/boosts include speed up, increased rate of fire, improved armour, extra mines and rebound projectiles.
We've received a few tank games over the last year, including Cat Tank ,(August 28th 2019) Tanks vs Demons (June 4th 2019) and Buttle Tank (April 24th 2019). Tank man is by far the hardest I've come across so far.

Conclusion:
I found the game a little too challenging with my tank only being able to take one hit unless I was quick enough to pick up one of the power ups that increased my armour value, which I never did. I managed to get to level 2 easily, but spent 20- 30 minutes trying to survive and was constantly killed off before I could complete the level. When you die you don't have to return to the first level, just the last one you unlocked.
I would have enjoyed the game much more if I was able to change the key bindings. I usually use the arrow keys for movement. I find the WASD keys out of my comfort zone. Despite not being very easy, I would still give this a thumbs up. The graphics are slightly better than previous versions we have been given. I like the particular attention to details as in the tank tracks that are left behind you when you move.
You can see Steam community comments and reviews HERE and a video of game play via the Steam store page HERE, but there are only two and they are in Russian and Polish. Nothing much was said.

If you never got the chance to play some of the original Tank arena games like Tank or Battle City, there have been other remakes of the game some of which we've been given here (mentioned above). Also, you can find some of these tank games on MyPlayCity and other free game sites for example: Battle City , Hell Buggies, Tank Commander , Tank o Box, Combatant Area, Tank Assault X and Mini Metal (3D version).

Useful Information not related to today's game giveaway:
For those interested in capturing their youth, or for those wanting to experience those heady days of the early console games, there are many emulators available for virtually every console ever made, plus many of the game titles for all those games are available for free as ROM's via many dedicated sites. of course you need to be careful that you are downloading from a safe site, so you should always do a little research first and check all downloads using sites like Virus Total or similar sites to make sure they are safe. If you were interested in playing one of the tank games I mentioned above e.g. Battle City you can find several NES emulators HERE and thousands of ROM's including one for Battle City HERE. You'll find sites that dedicate to particular consoles and others that cover all the popular ones. There are thousands of those games available for free. Abandonware sites also offer a great choice of older PC games, though many of the best have been hoovered up by sites like Good Old Games, who've tracked down the original license holders and either purchased or got permission to sell them. If you find any game on an abondonware site that is now available for sale, you should report the site, or at least warn it that they are giving away a game that is still under license. Abandonware sites are a grey area in law. The term abandonware says it all. Some of the games developers went bust, some no longer exist (i.e. have passed away) and others have just abandoned their games and moved on to better things. Some people don't agree with abandonware sites. Personally I think they are great. I was able to download many games I'd previously purchased, but could no longer play either because the original floppy's I'd purchased were corrupted, or I couldn't get them to work on newer systems. I regrettably (and stupidly) dumped thousands of cassette, floppy disks (both the original 8'', 5½ and 3½ disks) plus console cartridges about 15 years ago into a skip when we were having some house renovations carried out. Months later I found out about emulators and hardware that was available via my local computer shop that would have allowed me to play those games via new gadgets that had been developed that would allow you to play almost any of the original cassettes, disks and cartridges via my PC's. I could have pulled my hair out in frustration. Thankfully since then software emulators as well as the ROM's for virtually all of those games are now readily available for free.
The latest two free games over on Epic games end later this afternoon; i.e. Nuclear Throne a post-apocalyptic rogue-like top-down shooter and Ruiner a brutal action shooter set in the year 2091 in the cyber metropolis Rengkok. Later today they are removed and a new game is added called The Messenger a classic action platformer with the main protagonist being a ninja. The game soon unravels into an expansive time-traveling adventure full of thrills, surprises, and humor. Finally check out the forum thread I've posted HERE regarding a share of the rewards for subscribing to the Humble Monthly bundle. Though Delenn has mentioned that the Monthly bundle will be changing format from December.
