#32, perhaps you need to update yourself on computer usage?

I have absolutely NO problems finding the game, the folder, making a simple shortcut, even moving the folder if I wish, etc.

What is so hard about this or the fact there is no uninstall?

Nothing is hard about it at all. No uninstall is better as then nothing is loaded into your registry in most cases, it merely extracts into the relevant directory.

Download fine and fast, it's an ok game, better that what some of the people on here said about, THE MAIN ISSUE I HAVE BEEN HAVING IS THAT GAOTD DOES NOT FORE WARN US THAT THE GAME OR PROGRAMS DO NOT HAVE SET UP FILES, IT PLANTS THE FOLDER ON YOUR C DRIVE OR WHERE EVER SOMEONE MISTAKENLY PUT AND HAVE NO CLUE AS TO WHERE AND YOU HAVE TO HUNT IT DOWN TO FIND THE START ICON SO YOU CAN PLAY THE OR USE THE FREAKING STUFF, WHATS GOING ON GUYS?? IT TRULY IS A MAJOR PAIN IN THE BUTT SOMETIMES, WORSE IF SOME OF YOU OUT THERE HAVE NO CLUE WHERE IT WENT

#13,#14 Yea - that's the way to tell it. It's a bargain at $20. If you believe even a small part of that review, I'd pay $50. And only a 11 MB download. Hey #14 you forgot to mention that. Mention? PUSH it!

Game play that never gets stale - just a bit of mold collects around the edges.

To #24 (GMMan):
A lot of games sites that offer a large variety of games are not just listing their own games on their sites. They will buy rights to publish someone else's games on their site, but you may see that game on other sites because they too have purchased rights to publish the game. They will then sometimes make a few changes with the graphics and installer to make it their own and let you know where you got it from. Gamehouse, PopCap and Reflexive Arcade are just to name a few. So it is possible to do a search and find different games sites listed as the publisher of the same game.

I hope you understand what I'm saying here. I'm not sure how to explain it any clearer.

First of all, I wish people would stop coming in here just to complain about the game that is offered for FREE. Who cares if it's an older style or something that looks similar to some other game? Why complain about something you are given for FREE?

Now about this game. I have played this one before and it's ok, but I didn't really enjoy it too much. Maybe because this game reminds me of a better tank game that i Just finished called Armada Tanks, which can be found here:

http://www.enkord.com/games/armadatanks/

In Armada Tanks, you get to upgrade weapons and armor and it looks a lot smoother and cleaner game area and the controls are mouse-based instead of keyboard. Right-click where you want to move your tank and left-click to fire your weapon.

Weird... On every website I checked, the publisher for this game is different. The loading screen says something, here it says Fly Games, but links to arcadetown. On Realore (seems like the game stole their hi-score mechanism) it says Flame Rites. Download.com points to Relore. What is going on here?! I guess we all know that Realore published the game, but it isn't stated on anything else. hmmmmm

The game's OK nothing more - tho' it's fun to engage in some mindless "violence" once in a while I always feel.

@ #20 Renegade

No Mothering Sunday was today in Britland. We still have a calender for that which is set by the church and it's early this year because Easter is so early.

My impression of the game is just the opposite of that given by #8. If I want a game review I'll go to GameSpot or any one of the other game sites staffed by professional game reviewers. "Anybody can cut & paste". By the way isn't Mother's day in the UK celebrated on the Last Sunday in March?

A pretty good game but it would have been nice if you had the option to change the movement keys to WSAD.

Are we seriously being tricked into believing these games are still being sold? There are a couple of sites where you can download this game for 100% free and they seem legal too. It's free here too, so I don't mind, but it somehow feels like we're being ripped of by the thought of the 'what-if' scenario in case you've missed it here and want it still...

This Game Cracks Me Up!!!

Okay, obviously I have a somewhat macabre sense of humor. This game really does slay me. No pun intended. I, too, had it when it was ultimate tank 1.0. Lost it in a crash and couldn'g remember where I had gotten it.. so thanks for the links guys!!

There's not much to this game except complete and almost random violence. My favorite part is running over the little people and squishing them into little red stains on the grass. I doubt you're supposed to do this but I figure since there are no points lost.... no harm, no foul. I have a tank and heckfire I'm gonna use it.

The allusion to 80s games is PRICELESS!!!! It really is that kind of game. I spent enough years on a C 64 to know that. Someone mentioned 200 discs. The C 64 took the BIG floppies... so it'd be more like 500!! HAHA!! Ah.... the good ole days.

Anyway, if you're one of those parents who constantly monitors what your kids see.. you might wanna pass this up. Lotsa gore here.. its small but its there. When the level is over it often looks like there was a tomato fight in the field. Those are stains that won't come out of some young minds possibly. I don't know one way or another... just a caveat.

I think its fun. Like I said though, I'm fairly twisted and do just enjoy a good shooter. Its SO much better than shooting friggen aliens all the time!!! If I was an alien and I stopped here for half an hour and witnessed these games, I would run home at 4x light speed screaming all the way. STOP THE ALIEN GENOCIDE!!!

Bottom Line... Its not what I'd call a "great" game by any stretch. It IS, however, one of those games that you just get a hankerin to play once in a while and if you don't have it you sort of wonder where it went and almost miss it... I think its worth the download unless you're worried about content. Might wanna give it a miss if you don't like war games or can't handle a slight bit of gore. But for my part...

THUMBS UP!!!

P.S. Works fine on VISTA. That should be worth the download alone.

sorry for that lame review this is my own
If what you crave for is the nonstop tank combat with rockets whizzing by your head and F16s soaring through the sky, then "Tanks Evolution" is a good pick. In this gripping, war-based tank arcade, you will discover a refreshingly uncomplicated style of gameplay that shines with nice physics, spectacular effects and dynamic lightning. Here, you assume the role of the tank commander, commissioned to protect allied HQ from a relentless onslaught of enemy tanks.

As the tank commander, you accept missions in the jungles, city, arctic area and the desert where you engage into intense combats with enemy tanks and advanced weaponry, such as EMP and rocket turrets. Blast them all and avoid their fire by using terrain. Hiding behind walls and concrete blocks, you should watch your back because another enemy may roll from around the corner. And if it is a "Rat" with its dual-barrel cannon, it can blast you in two quick shots.

Sharp shooting and maneuvering through the mazelike paths plays a big part in winning the mission. However you can increase your chances for success if you collect power-ups. They include D-Fence that covers your base with concrete blocks, Airstrike that lets you call an airstrike to destroy the enemy and Nuke to bury all enemy tanks in a blink of an eye. And these are just a few to name. Power ups along with fine graphics add to the game's replayability.

"Tanks Evolution" has well programmed artificial intelligence to make it challenging and fun to play alone. However you can choose a cooperative mode and destroy the enemy side-by-side with your friend. The results of victories can be published in the online Hall of Fame. With its 4 diverse worlds, 40 levels to fight and 9 cool bonuses, "Tanks Evolution" doesn't grow stale in a short while and will be your desktop hit for a long time. Available for Windows 98/2000/XP.

This came with a Readme and a Setup. The activation process is included in the Setup.

This isn't that much of an installation, it's more of an extraction. The extraction goes pretty smoothly. This game will NOT create its own shortcut on your desktop, so if you want one, you have to make it yourself.

The gameplay is pretty much blow up everything that isn't you. You have a bird's eye view of the battlefield. There are usually obstacles that you can blow up, and these obstacles usually separate you from your enemy. This way, you can wait for your enemy to come to you or you can go to them. You use the arrow keys to move and the space bar to shoot. From what I've seen, there is no limit of ammunition. There are four difficulties: Easy, Medium, Hard, and Insane!

Its not the best game I've seen, but it isn't that bad, either.

Thanks for another great game, GAOTD!!!

This was previously given away back in Jan 07.

It's a great little top down shooter that may be a similar to Tank o Box, but in my opinion it just takes the number one spot. You can check out the comments from previously by following the link below:

http://game.giveawayoftheday.com/tanks-evolution/#comments

and here's some images, that will give you a better impression, but there really is no substitute for the real thing. I personally do prefer this one to Tank o Box and would give this 7 out od 10 for playability.

There's no full review today - it's Mothers day here in the the UK and I want to give my wife the whole day off from her usual chores (despite not being up to it myself)

Terrible. 4-way turret aiming? Forget amiga, this is C64 vintage. A simple change of controls to arrow keys move and mouse aim (infinite variation) and you'd have a cool tank-based, geometry wars clone and something worth playing. As is, this game is super crappy.

It's an okey enough game... but I can't help but feeling to dust off my 1980's amiga 500 hundred and play those games again, because all these games seem to be a polished up version of those games, of which I have 200 diskettes still :-)

Oh well, if it worked then, it'll still work now eh?

I played this game before when it was given away under the name "Ultimate Tank 1.0" and the game still has not changed! The graphics are okay, but not as good as the updated version "Tank-O-Box" (see sample pics below). They even look like the same game with the same weapons! HAHA!

http://www.tank-o-box.com/images/screen1_big.jpg
http://www.tank-o-box.com/images/screen2_big.jpg

But if you haven't downloaded either game, I still think it is worth the 11MB download, but the enjoyment will only probably last for two days because the enemies tanks are apparently driven by mindless zombies or blind mice. The only ways to lose in this game is to accidentally drive into a stray missile or if you fall asleep at the keyboard. :(
