Swift Elf:

In Brief:
A retro side scrolling platformer

You can see a video of game play HERE
The Game:
Swift Elf is a side scrolling platformer with six different area's to explore and each area includes ten levels. When you start the game only the first area is available, to unlock the other area's you have to complete all ten levels in the first area to then start the next area and so on. The video above shows the first two area's. Levels are quite short; but to complete them you have to pass various obstacles like spiked pits, bombs, boxing gloves, pendulums, circular saws and acid baths as well as negotiate moving platforms and lifts. Collect crystals on your way; these can be used to unlock different characters from the games shop. Each area is introduced by an area map.
Press E to start the first level. If you leave the game before finishing an area, when you return you'll find the levels you completed unlocked. At the start of each area all levels apart from the first are locked. You can change the game speed
from slow, medium (default) and fast. via a slider in the settings menu. Click on the buttons below the slider to change the speed. You appear to have only one life, but this is actually two. If you hit any negative static once half your heart desaturates, lose the second half and you have to restart the level you died on.

Key Bindings:
E = Start the game from the level map
W = Jump
A = move left
D = Move Right
R = Restart
Esc = Pause and access to the main menu
Conclusion:
Overall a reasonable platformer with some challenging levels. It's not the hardest platformer I've played (e.g. Super Meat Boy) nor is it anywhere near my favourite (e.g. Gish & Wik and the Fable of Souls); that said, I'm not really a platformer aficionado. If you like platform games; this one should keep you occupied for a good hour, or a lot more if your platforming skills are like mine. :)

Notes on Security
I scanned a zipped copy of the installed game and it found zero hits from 61 antimalware engines. The downloaded executable may include some low level adware that only opens your browser to Falcoware's home page after the game has installed and places four shortcuts onto your desktop (which can be safely deleted once the game has installed). The installation does not inject any malware into your system. When your browser is opened to Falcoware's home page when the game has been installed, it earns Falcoware games some money, part of which is given to the developer of the game for allowing the game to be given away free. You can see the results of the scan via the following link:

Whiterabbit-uk,

Other Free Games:
The latest free games from Epic went live on Thurs 15th July and will be available to add to your EPIC games library until the 22nd July at 4pm UK time/11am EST when a new set of games will be available to add to your account. The latest games are Offworld Trading Company - Mars has been colonized, and Earth's corporate titans fight to dominate this new market. Competition is fierce in this fast-paced economic RTS from Civilization IV Lead Designer, Soren Johnson and Obduction - a sci-fi adventure from Cyan, the creators of Myst. Abducted far across the universe, you find yourself on a broken alien landscape with odd pieces of Earth. Explore, uncover, solve, and find a way to make it home.

From the 22nd July at 4pm UK time/11am EST the free games change over to Defense Grid: The Awakening , one of my all time favourite tower defense games. The game appeals to players of all skill levels. A horde of enemies is invading, and it's up to the player to stop them by strategically building defensive towers around their base. This was the very first game I ever purchased on Steam back in January 2009; together with a bowling game called Galactic Bowling and is well worth adding to your Epic library if you don't already have the game. Also available on the 22nd July is Verdun - a game with merciless trench warfare that immerses you and your squad (playing multiplayer) in intense battles of attack and defense. Verdun is the first multiplayer FPS set in an authentic World War One setting, offering a rarely seen battlefield experience. It also includes a single player element. Brilliant game that you must experience (if you enjoy FPS games).

Please see Delenn's threads for Steam and Non Steam freebies HERE and HERE respectively. Delenn has been updating these regularly for years now. It’s worth adding these links to your favourites and checking regularly for available freebies. Most are only free for a specific time. If you miss the deadline you’ll miss out. Once added to your account, it’s yours to keep. Delenn has recently posted details of more Steam games that are temporarily free. One may be until it leaves early access??? - i.e. Tower Ball - Incremental Tower Défense plus a reflex game called Keyboard Killers are still free. Delenn posted details of a free origin came called Battlefield 4 which is available for free if you have an Amazon Prime account (If you like FPS games, it's a brilliant game to own. (not sure if it's still live).

You'll find hundreds of freeware games of all arcade and indie genres on Itch.io and Caimans Games as well as other sources. Please do check out the game discussion forums for older posts HERE (the sticky section is useful). Many of the earlier posts may be out of date with respect to the links I and others have provided to the free games; however, you only need to know the name of the game to find most of them via other sources.

The Indie Gala developers freebies are available HERE (latest additions) and HERE (81 games in the Showcase, most full versions). Recent additions include https://freebies.indiegala.com/diabolic, FootLOL: Epic Fail League, 33 Rounds, Defense of Roman Britain, 8Bit Boy, Lawless Lands Unrest, Block Dungeon, In Between Land, plus, many more in the showcase section HERE and the Freebies section HERE.

It’s worth adding most of the links to your favourites and checking regularly for available freebies. Most are only free for a specific time. If you miss the deadline you’ll miss out. Several recent additions that were still available last week have since been removed e.g. Kick Ass Commandos, Whispering Willows, Agatha Christie - The ABC Murders, Inbetween Land and Deep Despair. Once added to your account, they are yours to keep and available to download DRM free anytime from your Indie Gala download page. :)

Whiterabbit-uk, as you often talk about Epic, thought this article on an allegedly better 3rd party launcher might interest...

Whiterabbit-uk, this is a good game, not great looking but the gameplay is ok, sometimes at begin may seem unreasonably hard, like one early level killed me several times and past that i did several levels without die...

sadly is buggy and customization leaves to be desired too, when you put no sound u lose both music and sound effects...it insists to play on full window mode
even so is not something you want to cover all screen...it keeps playing music when minimized

is 32 bit and crushed a few times on my win10 x64, it also seemed to slow down pc at time even so i did not detect it to grab much resources

here are some print screens

1. white screen at full screen and when i minimized it to make print screen i see title on small window
https://prnt.sc/1e3u52z
music plays, nothing else works

2. same as above but now there is a small icon on the white screen
https://prnt.sc/1e3uvfr
now that i look again at this printscreen, i see its some sort of grey screen, even so it was white when i pressed the make printscreen...odd and more odd

this is how it looks in task manager
https://prnt.sc/1e3ysat
the audio driver seems to be overworked even so is using a small sound file

if one does not mind the iffy graphics, and ocasional bugs, you can jump around and have fun in this small game
