Star Police
In Brief
Star Police is a simple top down tower defense game. You can see a video of game play HERE.
The Game
A top down relatively easy Tower Defense game with the ability to speed up time by x2. There are ten different tower defenses starting from the cheapest; a single gun costing 200 credits, double gun for 400, energy gun for 800, napalm for 1500, sniper tower for 1800, antiaircraft gun for 2200, rocket gun for 2600, fire gun for 3000, plasma gun for 10000 and a turret for 15000; each gun starts with a particular radius of fire, amount of damage and speed of reloading. These can be upgraded four times to increase the firepower, area covered etc. You can also sell towers at half the original cost. There are ten levels each with a varying number of waves. Credit isn't carried over to the next level; I'm not sure if surplus money is added to your score, which is cumulative. If you end the game and restart, the score you've already gained remains unless you choose to create a new game. When continuing, you can replay any level that you've already unlocked. With only ten levels you can easily complete this game in less than an hour (unless your Tower Defense game experience is new. Later levels do get harder, but I was able to beat every level without losing any health, which starts at 100

Other Free Games
The latest game from Epic called The Lion's Song a narrative adventure game is now live HERE . Next weeks game that unlocks on the 20th May 21 hasn't been announced yet.

Please see Delenns threads for Steam and Non Steam freebies HERE and HERE respectively. It’s worth adding these to your favorites and checking regularly for available freebies. Most are only free for a specific time. If you miss the deadline you’ll miss out. Once added to your account, it’s yours to keep. Delenn has recently posted details of three Steam games that are temporarily free. One may be until it leaves early access??? - i.e. Tower Ball - Incremental Tower Defense plus are Keyboard Killers still free but Galaxium a Space Invader game and Dream Machine: Chapter 1 & 2 were just removed at 6pm UK time today.

You'll find hundreds of freeware games of all arcade and indie genres on Itch.io and Caimans Games as well as other sources. Please do check out the game discussion forums for older posts HERE (the sticky section is useful). Many of the earlier posts may be out of date with respect to the links I and others have provided to the free games; however, you only need to know the name of the game to find most of them via other sources. Many of those games from 2008 to around 2017 were posted as part of a project to supplement the lack of weekday games when the game giveaway went to weekend only games around Easter 2008 (mainly instigated due to the financial crisis of 2008) until November 2018 when Falcoware stepped into the weekday slot; however, from around 2015 onwards we did start to get the occasional Steam key for various games offered as limited giveaways, with a restriction on the number of keys available (anywhere from 25 to 2000+). These included over 60 decent AAA games and indie arcade games ; for example some of the better AAA games included , lucky Warhammer: Vermintide 1 & 2 plus DLC for version 2; Dreadlands, Mount & Blade: Warband, Immortal Unchained and Conan Exiles.

I've not posted details of any Indie Gala freebies since my older computer went on the Fritz back in October last year. Since then Indie Gala have added quite a few more free games, some of which are definitely worth downloading. You can find the latest freebies HERE and their showcase list, which includes all the freebies still current; (many of which have been included for a couple of years now) HERE.

It’s worth adding these links to your favorites and checking regularly for available freebies. Most are only free for a specific time. If you miss the deadline you’ll miss out. Once added to your account, they are yours to keep. :)

Notes on Security
I scanned a zipped copy of the installed game and it found zero hits from 60 antimalware engines. The downloaded executable may include some low level adware that only opens your browser to Falcowares home page after the game has installed, but does not inject any malware into your system. When your browser is opened to Falcowares home page it earns them some money, part of which is given to the developer of the game for allowing the game to be given away free. You can see the results of the scan via the following link:

Freezes on level six.

Robert ,

I Robert; I got this to work yesterday. Started a new game and this time it froze on level 6. Tried three times to pass level six and was unable too. The enemy tanks appear to miss their final turn into the home straight and carry on in a straight line across the game boundary. It froze at different points each time, once when the first wave was completed (as in the first image below), then it got at far as the third wave. You can see them falling off the edge of the game boundary in the second image (far lower right corner).

Personally I've got far better Tower Defense games; so, bearing in mind there appears to be a serious bug that the dev's really need to fix; this version will be consigned to the recycling bin. A few of my favorite TD games include the very first one I ever purchased called Defense Grid The Awakening, plus Solar Division, Towers of Altrac and Sanctum 2 (Coop play). Two that were previously given away here Masters of Defence and Immortal Defense are also decent TD games. (Still got both; though I ended up purchasing Immortal Defence when it was released on Steam some years ago.

Whiterabbit-uk,thank you for your comment, I honestly didn't expect a response from anyone, I just wanted to log a bug fix. During level six, the eighth wave, I watched the "bugs" reverse course and fall off the edge. I believe the game has merit, once the developers address and fix the problem. I too, played my first TD game and it was Defense Grid II (DG2), I still play it often on the PS4. Later I bought DG The Awakening for the PC and wished they would release a third version, it's a fun game. Thank you also for recommending Solar Division, Towers of Altrac, and Sanctum 2, I will find them and purchase them as well. I will also look into Masters of Defense and Immortal Defense, I enjoy playing a good tower defense game, DG II has me hooked on them. Take care, Bob.

Robert ,

Sanctum 2 is a first person tower defense, Towers of Altrac a fantasy TD with an isometric viewpoint and Solar Division is a top down space adventure where you place defenses on various space station platforms. There is also Sanctum, the first in the Sanctum series. There are others, but the names escape me at this time. :)

Whiterabbit-uk, I bought both Sanctum 2 and Towers of Altracthis morning, I haven't tried Altracthis yet, but Sanctum 2 I found will take me a bit to master, (still working on walking and chewing bubble gum at the same time LOL!) It looks like a lot of fun, but a bit of a learning curve. Thank you for the recommendations, I would have never found them without you mentioning them.

Robert ,

Hi Robert, Yes; both Sanctum games are hard at first, but once you get used to the first person perspective, they are a lot of fun. I've not actually played it in ages. I think there's a key that will show you a plan of the map, (not sure if that is the first and/or the second. I've just reinstalled Towers of Altrac. Been a while since I last played it. bought it while it was still in beta and initially I slated it; but the developer did a lot of work and made it into a great game.

Immortal Defense is also a great TD game though is different from your usual TD game. The graphic is different as are the towers. I'd check it out by watching some videos and read some reviews before you consider buying it. The Steam community give it very positive reviews.

If you would like to link up on Steam my Steam name is Whiterabbit01, send me a friends request. My avatar is an evil looking Cheshire Cat (I live in the County of Cheshire). (We could perhaps try some Sanctum 2 co-op play.

I tend to receive quite a lot of friends request; most of who are only interested in getting free stuff from my inventory, so I don't tend to check it very often these days. If you are interested ih linking up, it may be a good idea to let me know what your Steam name is. If you aren't happy about doing that on this comments section , now that the game has finished, it's unlikely these comments will be seen by many. Also, I can always delete the name once I've received your invite.

Whiterabbit-uk, Good Morning, or I guess I should say Good Afternoon (+7 hours). Thank you for your invitation, my steam name is Lanlord1. I was a administrator and developer of Local Area Networks, hence LANlord1, a play on words. I sent a request for you to add me as a friend, and I agree, your Cheshire cat looks evil, but has character. I normally use my Steam account mostly for simulator based games and flight simulation, I rely more heavily on my PS4 console for gaming. That said, maybe its time I learn to use both the PC and the console. Again, thank you for the TD information as well as the invitation on Steam and I look forward to seeing you on line.
