Snowy: Space Trip was available as a giveaway on December 8, 2007!
In Snowy: Space Trip, our courageous bear leaves the comfort of his arctic home and travels across space to rescue his alien friends from an army of nefarious robots. Your task is to guide Snowy as he runs and jumps his way across beautifully detailed levels, kicking robots in their metallic teeth and gathering his little green pals into a rocket ship for the trip home.
The more aliens you can collect and return to the rocket ship at once, the more points you'll earn. This isn't easy, as an assortment of mechanical monstrosities will do their best to stop you in your tracks. Luckily, you can use a variety of bonuses to help clear the way, including a pickup that makes Snowy invulnerable and another that clears all enemies from the screen.
Featuring 80 levels set in four unique worlds, awesome animation, the best music you can imagine and an easy setting for less experienced players, Snowy: Space Trip is an out-of-this-world adventure you won't want to miss!

You can only kick if a kickable object is in front of you.

I am also unable to kick anything -- the left control button doesn't work, and I went into options and changed it to a different key, with no success. Has anyone found a way around this? Whiterabbit, do you have any suggestions?
We love all the Snowy games, so would be great to get this one working...
Thanks.

For those that are having difficulty playing the game, you can try this, it helped me, make sure Vsync is checked and at the color depth, change it to 16 bit. helped me out:)

Never mind my last comment, (#38), once I passed level 6 I advanced to the next group without having to repeat again!!

I love ALL the snowy games.. only thing is when I stop playing I have to start all over with tutorial and level one. They usually have a save so you don't have to repeat them all over. My kick does work by the way!

Quick Review:
After playing the game for about 20 minutes I got really bored of doing the same thing over and over. But, I still found the game enjoyable.
In the game you're a bear named "Snowy" and your goal is to collect all the little green aliens and bring them back to the spaceship.
——————
Scoring:
Gameplay: 7/10 - It got a little boring after doing the same thing over and over. But, it's still a nice game.
Graphics: 8/10 - Decent graphics.
Music: 6/10 - The music was kinda boring.
Loading Time: 9/10 - Took about 15 seconds to load.
Installation: 10/10 - Installing the game was quick and easy.
Overall: 8/10

Final Comment:
This is a nice addition to the Snowy family. If you don't have it then I would recommend you downloading it.

This game is garbage. The controls are twitchy and hard to use, the level design is lame, and it's easy even on "hard" mode. Also, Snowy has an annoying voice.
Stay away from this baby game, it's not worth the $20 that Alawar charges for it. Come to think of it, it's not even worth the total minute and a half that it takes to install it.
Death to Alawar.

#15, I cannot get kick to work either, even when assigned to other keys

I'm having a problem with the "kick". I've tried changing the key from right ctrl to another one but this didn't solve the problem. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled the game. Anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I didn't expect to enjoy this game too much, so I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it's a platform puzzler that's very much in the spirit of kid-friendly classics like BUGS BUNNY'S CRAZY CASTLE. That's great!
The graphics are insanely good for a budgetware title, with fluid animation and some neat parallax scrolling. The controls are fairly tight too, and you've got a lot of control over Snowy in the air, which can allow you to make some great escapes from the robotic enemies who are chasing you down. The music is good, but the sound gets grating after a few levels; Snowy needs some better catch phrases.
Still, I was very impressed by this game, and I'm thrilled to have gotten it for free. I hope Alawar will reap the benefits of using GGOTD, and not just give out a lot of free software; they clearly have some great stuff that is much better for the casual gamer than anything I've seen in stores.

Same as 15 and 21, no kick. I can kick the can, but I can't kick the bad guy. I reset my options, even tried a jump-kick...nothing. When Snowy is just standing or walking, the kick function doesn't operate even then. Maybe I need to delete and re-up? I know it's something simple, but it's got this 'ol girls snowy kicked!! What's the magic formula?

Maybe all the folks complaining about Alawar games don't realize that it's not up to GOTD which developers will decide to allow their programs on this site. Maybe another seemingly endless stream of crap from DoubleGames would make them count their blessings. And maybe #16 Phil can "raise the notch" for himself by getting off his big butt and getting himself a life beyond the internet. Take your kid outdoors for a change instead of crying to each other about free games. He/she is going to grow up a lazy, whimpering loser, just like their Dad.

Like #15, I can't get Snowy to kick, even with changing the key. Help, please.

Phil(#18): Every day you're here crying like a little baby because the games aren't to your liking. Now that people have started calling you on it, you invent an 8-year-old who thinks the games are too childish. You're pathetic. Why don't you let this youngster post from now on? We could use a more mature perspective than yours. Just grow up and get a life beyond scrounging for free games and blubbering when you don't get your way.
Thanks GOTD and Alawar for not caving to every immature loser that comes along.

:D Yaaaaaay! I had this on my old computer and missed it. Thanks Alawar and GGotD. It's a simple and progressively challenging game. The little green guys toddling back and forth crack me up.
You are a bear and must run and jump from platform to platform to collect little green space men and take them to your ship for points. Monsters will try to steal your green men and can take a life. There are various tools and weapons to kick to fight the monsters.
The game is maybe the first of the Snowy series? The menu is a bit cumbersome and several screens must be navigated each time a game is played after losing. Still I love this incarnation of Snowy - just for the Green Guys!
More Alawar!

Grrrr; addendum to #21, in regards to #15 response.
In OPTIONS, CONTROLS SETUP, KEYBOARD, supposedly both ctrl keys activate a kick. You may want to check those settings...

Cute game, though not one I think I'll play too often.
#19 is right about it being great for big kids; definitely not a 7yo.
#15 "I can’t get the control key to activate the kick? Is there a trick I don’t know about?" Are you using the left ctrl; don't use the right one, next to the arrows. It's a default setting, so there's no trick, well, that I know of anyway ;)

Anne comment #17, have you tried turning off VSync, which can be found in the options menu? If that doesn't work set the color depth to 32.
Also check your screen resolution via the control panel/display/settings, and fiddle around with the settings as this may help.

Nice game but unsure about the system requrements.
I just sent Alawar an email. I can't see the background properly, at least I can see the space/planets etc but can't see the platforms that the character jumps on, also the curser is lost in game and at the menu. Here are my kids pc system specs.
Celeron 533Mhz
128Mb Ram
32Mb Video
DirectX 9.
Anyone know why the graphics are not showing properly for me? Other games work fine on this pc.
Cheers Anne.

I understand why a company comes out with so many releases of the same game, it's because they save time and money by just recoding a few aspects of the game. I don't know what age group these types of games are intended for, but my 8yr old despises them, and consider them "Baby" games. Come on GGAOTD raise the notch a bit ok?

#12 - Snowy Lunch Rush is my favorite of all the snowy games, but this one I didn't have yet, and it adds to the Snowy excitement.
As for Snowy Lunch Rush (like Diner Dash) I often sing the little ditty that he sings for customers which I think is "Moon is shining, Moon is shining, Moon is shining - night night night." Its Sooooooo catchy! I drive my husband nuts, hehe. I love it!

Installation Tips and Hints
:
The game comes packaged with the three usual files The read me that all newcomers to the project should read first, 2) then the Activate 3) and set up modules. It’s a breeze to activate and install. If you have more than one hard drive and that includes removable hard drives, I would recommend that you use any drive but your boot drive, which unless you’ve set up yourself, will usually be the C: drive. The reason is that filling your boot drive up will cause your system performance to reduce considerably, especially as the hard drive becomes full. Leaving the boot drive for system programs is one of the best ways of ensuring a faster running machine. If you only have one drive at present, this doesn’t mean you have to go out and purchase a new drive as when you next have to reinstall windows (which inevitably most of us will have to at one point or another; and it will be sooner than later if you download stuff from the internet. :(, then I recommend that you partition your drive. This is quite a simple procedure, that allows you to create separate ‘partitioned’ discs on one drive that work as though they are really separate.
Check out the following tutorial if you want to partition your disc:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/313348
If you have more than one disc you can change the installation drive by browsing for a destination folder during the Snowy: Space Trip set up procedure. Once you’ve chosen the install path you can then easily proceed to the next stage. For those who have no second drive, just keep following the onscreen prompts (via the set up module), for a perfect installation.
You don’t have to worry about the desk top and start menu shortcuts as these are automatically installed to the correct place. Also there’s no game box installation with this Alawar game, so installation really is easy. (I write this very simplistic description for the benefit of newcomers and am not meaning to be condescending with those that have been coming here for awhile)
The last set up window enables you to start the game immediately and for the readme file, which is found as an html document within the games main folder to be shown. Both these can be stopped by un-checking the tick boxes provided. I’ve copied and pasted the general information from the read me file so that I can get this posted before the moderator comes for their one and only check today (not meant to be sarcastic honestly :) as I appreciate we all have lives and most of us have families)

General Game Information:
There’s no mouse control, but you do have a choice between keyboard and joystick. There’s the usual power ups to help you on your way. Also there are three difficulty settings. The graphics are quite good. If you get any graphical glitches be sure to turn off the VSync function found in the options menu as this may cure the problem. Newer computers have no need of this function, but it’s great that it’s still being included in some of Alawar’s games. For general information as to what VSync is follow the link below:
http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=928593
The graphics are set to 16 bit as default so if you want to improve the graphics a little toggle the color depth to 32 bit.
As with all of Snowy’s games I rate this a 7 out of 10. It’s great family entertainment, and just because it has a kiddies theme doesn’t mean it’s not suitable for adults as well. :)
Thank you Alawar for another game. We must have had at least 50% of your stock by now. I’m really impressed with your generosity. Thank you vey much. Please let us know when Action Ball 2 is being released as I’m definitely going to buy it, or pre-order it just as soon as you let me. I’ve been waiting for a sequel to Action Ball and Action Ball Deluxe for so long now. To the game giveaway team; keep up the great work. I’m so pleased you are giving away so many repeats, with the odd new one sprinkled in between them. :)

Downloaded and activated easily. The 8.26 mb file expanded into a 75 mb folder, that's impressive by itself to me,lol.
Seems to be sort of an odd take on a Brave Dwarvers type game and like some old Dos pc side scrolling games like Commander Keen but with better graphics.
Rather easy (to me) despite how many levels there are, got kind of redundant and I got bored of it quickly, but it would be good for kids, and the collectors of those old type of games.
You can't configure it for mouse play (for those with disabilities) but the keyboard controls can be reconfigured.
Overall it's a decent game.
Thanks Alaware and the GGAOTD team!

I Downloaded and played this game.
It installed smoothly on XP and started fine. there is 80 levels and i finished them all already! just kidding. So the object is to gather all the green little aliens. monsters seem to move on set patterns and dont think for themselves. the graphics are high resolution and are of a comicbook cartoon nature. I sstarted game twice and when closing down game [i got a serious error]-> i just had to reboot is all.
Not my type of game. nice hi rez graphics thou

Activated, installed, and plays fine on Vista Home Premium. I like that this has some side scrolling, as opposed to the other Snowy offered here a little while back, that didn't side scroll. Game is cute as heck (well, Snowy and his lil greeny friends). Thumbs up for me, love Alawar.
