You are a lone recon pilot flying through a dangerous asteroid canyon in deep space. Your mission is simple: survive, destroy everything in your path, and complete stage objectives to prove you are the best pilot in the galaxy.
The game throws two types of enemies at you. Asteroids tumble down the canyon in all shapes and sizes - small ones go down in a single hit, but the big ones take several shots and are worth more points. Enemy ships are far more dangerous. They fly in formations - V-shapes, arrows, diamonds, circles, lines and X-patterns - and they shoot back at you. Take them out quickly before the screen fills with red bullets.
Your ship starts with a basic single cannon, but as you play you can upgrade your weapon up to level 5. At level 2 you get twin guns. Level 3 adds spread shots that fan out to the sides. At level 4 your ship gains a homing missile launcher that automatically locks onto the nearest enemy. Level 5 gives you dual homing missiles for maximum destruction. Be careful though - getting hit resets your weapon all the way back to level 1.
The game features a full stage system with 25 missions. Each stage gives you a specific objective - for example, destroy 5 ships and 3 asteroids to clear Stage 1. The targets get harder with each stage, pushing you to survive longer and fight smarter. Stages 1-5 are a warm-up for beginners. Stages 6-10 require confident play. Stages 11-15 are a serious challenge. Stages 16-20 are hardcore with hundreds of enemies. Stages 21-25 are elite level that only the best pilots will reach. When you complete a stage, you get a score bonus and the next mission begins immediately. Your current objective and progress are always visible in the top right corner with a progress bar.
Powerups drop rarely from destroyed enemies and also spawn on their own every 20 seconds. There are five types. The W powerup increases your weapon level. The S powerup gives you an 8-second energy shield that absorbs all damage and destroys enemies on contact. The B powerup is a screen-clearing bomb that instantly kills every visible enemy. The T powerup slows down time for 5 seconds, giving you a huge advantage to dodge and aim. The plus powerup gives you an extra life.
You earn a bonus life for every 10000 points you score. This stacks - hit 10000, get a life, hit 20000, get another, and so on. There is also a rare life powerup that drops independently on a long timer.
When you take damage the game lets you know. A loud triple alarm beep plays, the screen flashes with a red border, and a big DAMAGE warning appears for 2 seconds. You get 2 seconds of invincibility after each hit so you have time to recover, but your weapon drops to level 1 every time. You start with 3 lives and when they run out the mission is over.
The canyon itself is alive. Rocky borders on both sides scroll past with craters and texture details, and the edges wave and shift as you fly deeper. Stars stream past in the background at different speeds creating a sense of depth. Explosions are detailed with sparks, glowing rings, and smoke clouds. The whole screen shakes when something big goes down.
Controls are straightforward. Arrow keys or WASD to move. Space or Z to shoot. Your missiles and weapon upgrades are fully automatic - just focus on dodging and positioning. Press P to pause, N to toggle sound, F2 to show the FPS counter, and Escape to return to the main menu.
The difficulty ramps up over time. Asteroids get faster, enemy formations spawn more frequently, and the spawn rate increases. The longer you survive, the more chaotic it gets. Your high score is tracked for each session so you can always try to beat your personal best.
