Space Radiance

In Brief

Space radiance is a mix of tower defense, RPG and clicker game.

The Game

Space radiance was a Greenlit game on Steam and was finally released June 2016. You can see Steam community reviews of Space Radiance HERE. They are mainly negative, with the only noteworthy positive only giving it a positive because if you have the Steam version you also get trading cards. As we have the free standing, non Steam version, that is not applicable. You can see a 30 second video from the original Greenlight presentation HERE. This particular video is one of the reasons I voted for it when it was first presented.

I also have to agree with the negative reviews on this. It’s basically a cross between a tower defence and clicker game with upgrades. I was only able to progress to level 4 after 7 hours of game play (played over a period of time via my Steam copy), and never managed to earn enough to buy tower defense upgrades, which if I did I’d probably have enjoyed playing this as TD games are one of my favorite arcade genres, but this was just too tedious. Pity as the last four images and the upgrade section below look interesting. I found the early levels rather boring with little difference in game play. The images shown on the Steam page (I’ve included four at the end of my own screen captures below show the game to be much more interesting than it is. That said; if you are able to get to the later levels the game may be better, but after 7 hours of game play, I’d had enough. Besides, I don't enjoy clicker games.

My first impressions of the game as written before posting this review (bearing in mind I’d previously played this game on Steam when it was first released 4 years ago and had forgotten all about it until i checked my Steam copy......: I tried the game and was initially flummoxed. There is a simple tutorial included, but all you seen to have to do is prevent a falling girder from falling to the bottom of the screen by placing a block underneath it. I tried the tutorial and at the end got a message saying I’d won. Then proceeded to start the game, but all you have to do is place a block under falling objects. Once blocked you click on the block to remove it then repeat the process again while a counter counts up time. However, looking at the images provided by the giveaway site above, the game looks more like a tower defense game with upgradable platforms, so I will check the game out some more later (if I have time) and post an update and some images (It’s dinner time here in the UK)

Don’t forget to check the latest free Epic games that went live yesterday. Also Steam still have some free games available. Check Delenns threads over in the forums for details. (thanks for keeping me updated on those Delenn as always very much appreciated.

There seems to be an issue accessing the image host site at the moment. The four images I've re-posted at the end of the images below my mini review can also be seen in the giveaways intro at the top of the page.

I didn't realise there was a game today. For the past few days we have been getting a message that the next game would be distributed on Saturday. Only just seen today's game at 6.30pm. Probably won't post even a mini review as its late in the day and we have family time in the evenings. Though I may post a few screen captures after dinner if I get time. :)
