Playing through - about 80% done with the seasons challenge. It's a rather relaxed game with two types of solitaire (matching pairs, sequencing) with some nice twists. The other part of the game is a HOG - again, two types.

The only problem I have encountered is that some of the solitaire layouts "break" - when a card is selected and played, the underlying card does not turn over(!), which means that it can never be matched. The only way to continue playing is to exit the level through the menu in the lower right corner, then reenter it. This happened on the second or third level of autumn, and one one level in spring (i think).

I like the game quite a bit, even with the glitches.

Installed easily on a win 7 laptop. Solitaire Mystery: Four Seasons was interesting enough to keep my wife playing and solving the puzzles for several hours on first use. Good job Playrix, & thank you GGOTD.

Game installed, run, but no screen. When i go to windowed mode (alt+enter) then no screen too, but when i move window out of screen and back I've got refreshed game window, but have no cursor at all. I disabled game cursor, but screen still no refreshing i any way. To refresh game window must apply method mentioned before. Installed Gametop version too, but the same effect. I have no problem with any game, this one may be first I can't play.
System Windows 7, ATI HD 5xxx series, drivers catalyst 14.4.

Just like # 4 Win 7 64 Bit wouldn't install (Dual core 3060 Xeon 2.4)... Never seen anything so strange... no errors, no logs, nothing... Just like something stopped it from working... Then tried it on a newly configured dual quad core AMD Sun Server... Same thing... ok, not going to let a glitch like that win.... tried compatibility mode, running as admin, even ran on virtual XP ... Figured out the only similarities in the Workstation vs the Server was AVG Free.. a GREAT little anti-virus software... disabled it (temporarily) just right click on the little icon and choose "Temporarily Disable AVG Protection" give it 10 minutes (default) reinstall the game and everything worked perfectly on both machines... Even though the server is a production machine, I don't ever worry about the programs these guys give away (here or on the main site) they are VERY careful and always make sure everything is clean... So hope this helps and here is a shoutout to the guys who run these sites and the program owners - THEY ROCK!!! --- thanks much - The Phantom Electron

LOL. Went back to the game, loaded fine but then I thought I would go to Options and clicked on Wide Screen Support. Screen disappeared and came back. Click on Play and it crashed. Tried it again, nope not working. Go back to Options and unclicked it. Game didn't want to play. So clicked play again and it works. One of those yes it will work, no it wont.

Right click game Icon on desktop. Properties. Click on Compatibility. I have it running in Windows 8. 8bit (256) colour. Disable display scaling on high DPI settings ....clicked. Run this program as Administrator...clicked. I must have got all that when I was running the Compatibility test. Details might help someone else. Crossing fingers it still works.

Lots of crashes after I complete puzzles, forcing me to do the last two or three over again. :(

Also gets pretty monotonous. Not enough variety in Solitaire styles.

Thank you for this beautiful game! The only trouble I had installing it was an error message that said my screen resolution was not compatible with the game. I right-clicked on the .exe file and clicked on Properties, to choose "run in compatibility mode for Windows 8." (I have W-10, but that's as far as the choices go.) Still the same error message, so I ran the trouble-shooter, let it do its thing, tested it, (it works!) and saved the settings. BTW, the trouble-shooter said the settings it saved were for compatibility mode for Windows XP,SP3. Boy, those were the good old days, but - whatever works.
I love the gorgeous graphics in the game, although the hidden object part is a little harder. Instead of "find this, hidden in the picture," it's "make an association with," so I had to use a few hints. (The hampster really threw me, but that's not the 1st time in my life that's happened.)
Thanks again for this enjoyable (so far) game.

Win10 Home 64bit. Downloaded fine no problems. Go to play the game and like the others got the crash dump something or other. So did the compatibility and none worked. Found Run as Administrator worked, played a couple of games, signed out and ran it again. Wouldn't work. Did all the compatibility again, nope. Run as Administrator, nope. Okay what is going on here. Changed screen resolution, changed it in the Options too. Tried Run as Administrator again and it wouldn't worked. Changed something else, and it worked. Did the delete file and try again and put it in another file, same problems. So I am guessing it is one of those it will work or wont work.

I will keep playing around with the settings. Good game, I like it.

Thank you for your feedback Suzanne,

Another possible solution could be to download the demo version from Playrix, install that to a different place then mix and match the files to see if you can get the game running without crashes. Make sure you keep a backup of the original game giveaway version, one suggestion try putting the game giveaway executable into the demo version overwriting the demo exe. I don't know whether that would work, but it may be worth a try

Played quite a bit more, and this game is crashing every few hands. Never had this with any other game, and see others are having issues. It plays absolutely fine for hand after hand, HOG, puzzle, etc. and then crashes, then repeats the cycle. Trying to look on the bright side by telling myself it's trying to protect me from playing for too long :).

OK, I now see that the GAOTD header DOES have a link to here, I stand corrected... sort of. The other links in the header connect to iphone and android, however their offerings are also graphically represented on the page to let you know what's available. That used to be the case for games, and it is still the case on this site for what's offered on the GAOTD site. I just kinda felt like they're forgetting about us.

It seems like a large proportion of the community have been having problems with this game. After reading all of your comments, I'm sure it has something to do with the resolution settings :?: I have a gaming monitor that automatically detects the correct resolution for any game I play (a BenQ monitor), which may explain why I've not had problems with the game crashing and would support the idea that it is the resolution you have your monitor set to that may be the problem.

There are some things you could try to combat this issue, for example, play the game in a window. Or go into compatibility mode and firstly ensure you are playing with the 'Run this program as an Administrator' checkbox checked and try checking the disable scaling on high DPI settings as well.

Finally ensure that your graphic card or graphic chip drivers are up to date. You can check which manufacturer your chip was made by, by opening up the DirectX Diagnostics panel (type DXDiag in the search field). This opens up the diagnostics panel. Click on the display tab, from there you can see which manufacturer your card/chip is. Usually they will be NVidia or ATI/ASUS, though there are other manufacturers. To get the latest drivers Google the manufacturer. You should find a link on the home page of the manufacturer that will take you to the drivers. You will need to input the model of the graphic card or chip as well as which platform you are using. Once updated, you'll need to reboot your computer for the new drivers to take effect.

p.s. you could also try changing other parameters such as running in a different mode eg if you are running Win 10 try running it in compatibility mode for Win 8, or Win 7 etc
:D

It would be most helpful to include short explanations of how to play the association games. Some of the associations are too obscure. The hint button takes too long to recharge. Perhaps offer the option of playing a relaxed or expert game, with hint recharge being shorter and explanations being given for the relaxed version. More hidden object scenes would be nice too. The game crashed a few times while I was playing. Still, overall I like the game.

I had the same problem as #34 which was : Received the GOTD message with “Successfully activated!” but nothing was installed and no setup/installation was shown.
Solved the problem by disabling Zemana anti logger then everything installed perfectly. All you have to do is right click on the Zemana icon at the lower right side of your screen and left click "stop protection"
If you don't have Zemana (a giveaway from GOTD awhile back) then perhaps it is your anti-virus stopping the install. Try disabling that and re-try the install.
Other than that i also had the crash/dump with this game after about 15 minutes of playing and i am using an old Xp unit with a CRT monitor. I restarted and played for over an hour without a further problem.
The "association" puzzles were difficult( i mean who looks to associate a graduation cap with MC2 hidden in a paper with a piece of metal) I actually got thru the association puzzles by just clicking madly all over the screen and would finally, accidentally click on the sought after object. Never used any hints but my finger is wore out....^_^
This is my recommendation for improving the game - Make it a penalty of some sort to prevent endless random clicking as i did. Many HOG games have this sort of penalty. Seeing as there is no penalty for clicking endlessly on the screen - then that is what i did. As a matter of fact i quit even trying to look for objects.....why bother?
Other than that i really like the game and when the cold winter weather sets in i will play it to the end. Thanks for the game Playrix...and all of the games you have given us..Thanks GGOTD and Whiterabbit as well.

Hi Jeff, thank you for your feedback; I think the crash may have something to do with the resolution that you have your monitor set to, tohugh cannot be 100% sure. Changing the compatibility settings may stop the problem happening again. :)

Haven't managed to play through the frozen world 20/24. Tried for several hours, but no. What's this all about? That can't be just bad luck?

The game installed nicely on my win8.1 laptop, but the screen lags a bit when the cards are being shuffled.

Game has potential, but the hidden objects game are too dark/unclear. And definitely with trying the second worlds 20/24 for several hours with out clearing the table it starts to get too annoying.

This is very much a Mahjong type solitaire game. With that understanding, I happen to like those games and found the minigames fun too. Enough so that the fourth (I believe) house not having one was a little disappointing. I do appreciate the forward button though because they are a game of chance which means you could go through it a billion times and still not win. If they are, in fact, solvable, I enjoy undoing multiple times to find the solution in games like spider solitaire.

However, then the game hard crashed as some other people have described and gave me an error file path that doesn't seem to exist.

When I reopened, it was not in full screen mode (and case in point, the applications that were open the first time were all stuck half shifted off screen until I manually minimized and then maximized them, so clearly after the crash and even opening and closing the game again, some of the video elements weren't reset.

This is a Win 7 system with 12GB memory and a Nvidia card.

Side note. I started it by leaving the checkmark on the installer, something I don't usually do.

Hi,
It loaded quickly in windows 8.1. Play is smooth and graphics are nice!
I played several solitaire games and a couple of puzzles. Looks like it takes awhile
to get the next level, so am stopping for now. I did not complete the hour to visit
the fortune telling room. It might make it more interesting!
Thanks for another good game!
Have a good week!

Great game as far as solitarie goes, good graphics, and gradual growth of difficulty. A lot going for it.

I just truly do not like occult-themed games.
I feel my kid shouldn't be looking at voodoo dolls and other cr-p when playing.
I know, that is almost weird these days, fine, call me old-fashioned, but still, I just don't want in on my screen.

That's weird, WR! I just again clicked the four links you provided in your sentence in your review that says Walkthroughs: You can see some walkthroughs of the game HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE. The first leads to appsmenow, which offers one video walkthrough for iOS, but leads to a dead link (and is for Mac). The second leads to strangestone.info, which has a button which says "Download Full Walkthrough" and leads to the download button on BDStudios. The third is BDStudios itself, with the button saying "Download Full Walkthrough" and the fourth leads to ihoggames with the same button leading to BDStudios. Clicking any of those buttons starts a download from BDStudios "your download will begin in 3 seconds, 2 seconds..." which I then aborted. I don't know why I see something different from what you are seeing on those four links.

At any rate, I'm working well through the game. I find the many solitaire hands kind of boring in that there is no skill, just luck, but like the HOGs, both the straight HOGs and the ones where you have to find an object that RELATES to the pictured item, a nice twist! Doing the jigsaws is easy, and the locks are mildly challenging. Overall, a nice time killer but not a keeper for me. Thanks, though, for a fun day!

Fails to install.

Extracted the .zip file and ran the Setup.exe.
Received the GOTD message with "Successfully activated!" but nothing was installed and no setup/installation was shown.
Tried several times and checked the default installation directories to to be 100% sure.
The GOTD installer fails to start the actual game installation.......

I went back to options and tried unclicking the full screen mode. It said windowed mode was not available for my graphics setup. Then I unclicked widescreen mode. I returned to main menu and clicked play, and it ran fine, just has blank spaces on either side of the screen.

Thanks for the download, it looks to be up to Playrix's standards for graphics, a bit unusual with the cards, but a good change of pace so far. Thanks again WhiteRabbit for another quality game. (Even if it took a bit of finagling ...)

I was having trouble with this game on my Windows 10 machine too, but may have solved the problem. Like others the game would crash before the first game screen (though I did have access to the main menu). I went into the game's folder and clicked on "uninstall.exe" to delete the game and my virus detection program (AVG) said it was a virus (which I do not believe it was) and deleted it. "That's curious" I thought, and just for grins loaded the game again. This time it worked! The only difference is the uninstall program is gone. I can't imagine that the game itself would access that program and I can't reason out why having uninstall.exe removed would make a difference, but in my case it did. Just thought I'd share in case anyone else wants to try this possible solution.

On the surface the game looked interesting enough with a rather difficult HO scene. However I can't seem to get the adrenalin rush you get in trying to get a gold star (TM games) or a higher score (Fishdom) or shooting insects out of the sky (which I'm not very good at but still find moorish. And thanks for your reply yesterday, Stephen. I found some of the links very helpful.). Anyway, I've decided to go play at least for an hour to have a look into the Fortune Telling room, but I will probably not make it to Freeplay which doesn't open until the story is complete. Well, the game is free and deserves to be explored. Thanks Stephen, Playrix and GGOTD, and... "you can't please all of the people all of the time"!

Not bad! I love solitaire games, and marrying that with hidden object is a cool idea, never mind that I don't really see a storyline here. I guess the only criticism is that the solitaire aspect (including Mah-Jong aspects) is rather relentless, one after the other. Maybe it's my fault, but I feel that it makes it hard to take a break if you have another card game staring you in the face. I think I'll keep it and play some more later after I've done some other more relaxing stuff.

I am really happy to see something that is not a HOG. Win 7, install went awesome and the game is fantastic. I was tempted to order it from BFG earlier this week and I'm glad I waited but it's worth buying too. This is interesting for a solitaire game. You get to play a type of solitaire but you can also solve a mystery and play a HOG with a twist. It's awesome! Thanks for the freebie!

This is a very beautiful detailed, and well written Solitaire Game. One of the best I've played in quite some time and I'm not usually the type of person to stay in front of a game for more then 10 minutes. But I played for a half hour this morning and just WOW!

The only reservations I have about this game is that the hidden object and puzzle scene inclusion in a solitaire game takes away from the overall atmosphere of the way it plays. If you take Jewel Quest Solitaire into example it follows a more arcade style feel versus the overbearing goal driven system featured in this game.

Ill give it 4.5 out of 5.

I don't have Win 10 (and refuse to get it at this point) but I've had it (and completed it) from Gametop back in April. It's frustrating getting some of the solitaire games to complete but you can skip by them.

Note -- There is an "Amazon Underground" version of this for Android that is totally free and works great on my kindle Fire HDX. Only available from Amazon, of course (at least the free version).

Are you using High DPI (> 100%)? If so, just go to the properties of the exe (or the shortcut) and select to ignore high DPI scaling. Often when you use the higher DPI (I'm at 150%), it results in a lower resolution to the game than you realize.

I see the problem often, not only to get a game to run at all but also to allow for it to run windowed rather than full screen.

In my case, the 150% setting makes the games think the resolution is 800 X 600 instead of 1920 X 1280!

Same problem here... after a successful installation (on Windows 8), I launched the game and an error window popped up that said, “The game does not support the current desktop resolution.”

My laptop is set to 1280 x 720 and 100% of all other games that I have downloaded from here that were Playrix have worked on my laptop with no problems at all.

I don't really want to mess with my resolution just to play this game. :(

The game seems to play okay, but when I quit there is a dialog box that says game had to close with 2 buttons, close program or look for a solution to the problem, but clicking either just closes the dialog box. Running Win7 Pro x64.
Solitaire is tedious by nature, but this is better than others I've played.

It looks like there may be a problem running this game in Win 10 and also you may have to set your monitor to a specific resolution. LuidesAlph (see comments above) had the same problem and found that it worked in windowed mode. Try going into compatibility mode and changing the settings, choose win 7 or XP mode and try disabling display settings on high dpi settings. Another possible fix would be to update your graphic card, or change the monitors resolution.

Ok Win 10 x64 Pro BUT had to check icon Compatibility run as administrator box. Didn't set back to Win 7 or 8, just that. Else get a crash as try to use Play button in game.
Game is fun mix. Nice graphics. Moves from solitaire to unusual form of HOG match. There are further game variations to add to variety. So other than the minor crash issue 9/10 for casual game fans, especially if like the genre. Thanks GOTD, and guys for Star Defender 3 weapons hack. Don't know if works on 1 2 4 but trying 3 next. Cross fingers since like game but man the swarms are overload near end of a series.

Installed and ran fine on my Win 7 64-bit OS. I enjoy these little solitaire games on my tablet, so having them on the big computer, interspersed with the mini-games, is a nice change-up. Thanks for the freebie!

When trying to open the game I get an Error message : "The game does not support the current resolution"
My laptops resolution is 1920 x 1080, which is the recommended resolution for my computer.
Help?

Read LuidesAlph comments above. They may help you to get the game to run, though in windowed mode only. After Paul mentioned that he can’t run the game with his monitors screen resolution, it may be that it is your monitor that is the problem. You may need to change the monitors screen resolution to one the game supports.

Pretty boring. Programmers only know one solitaire game. :-(
