Solitaire Jack Frost Winter Adventures 3:
Solitaire-Jack-Frost-Winter-Adventures-3-001

Solitaire-Jack-Frost-Winter-Adventures-3-002
In Brief:
As the name implies it's a solitaire card game with a Winter/Festive theme. We've had several of these games from 8Floor over the last few years, all of them with the same or similar game mechanic. Todays' game is no different from most of the previous titles in that you can remove chains of cards, win trophies, change the front and back of the card designs via the option menu and use various cheats such as shuffle, Mulligan and Joker to be able to complete a level if needed. You even get trophies for using these cheats.

We've previously had the first game in the Solitaire Jack Frost Winter Adventures series almost two years ago on January 3rd 2021 HERE (where it received a 92% positive rating from 37 votes) and the second in the series was given away on the 17th December a few weeks ago HERE (where it received a 93% positive rating from 15 votes). Today we get the third in the series not surprisingly called Solitaire Jack Frost Winter Adventures 3.

You can see a few videos of game play HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE.

The Game:
Solitaire Jack Frost Winter Adventures 3 is introduced with a simple tutorial to walk those (few) of you who've not played this type of game before through the basics. Thankfully the tutorial can be skipped if you wish. There are 200 levels divided into 10 different locations, each location includes ten levels. As you progress, you'll unlock twenty one different trophies; for example, Coveted Reward {pass all levels in Newbie mode}, Brave {pass all levels in professional mode}, Slow Globe {get maximum points for 1 pack in professional mode} , Elegant Ribbon {get maximum points on 2 levels in a row}, Toy Master {earn 100,000 coins}, Holiday Cookie {buy 10 Mulligans} and Eagle Eye,{get maximum points for 6 packs in professional mode} to name just a few of them.

There's also a shop where you can spend the points you've earned buying one of three bonuses, i.e. Mulligans (costs 2500 coins) Jokers (costs 8000 coins) & Shuffles (costs 5000 coins) . The Mulligan is IMO the best bonus as you can also return a bonus to the deck if you mistakenly used it wrongly.

The faster you play the game the better your score multiplier that is located in the top right of the game screen. This is constantly changing depending on how many
breaks you have between clicking on runs of cards. If you are fast you can increase your multiplier to 4, 5 and even higher. The higher the score multiplier, the faster you can earn the maximum number of coins for that level. when you reach the maximum number of coins it ends the level even if you haven't removed all of the cards; (I find this annoying. In the top left of the game screen there is a counter that tells you how many special cards you have turned over. These give more coins when removed from the pack.

You cannot play the Professional mode until you have completed one set of ten levels in Newbie mode. In Newbie mode you whereas .

The only difference between the professional mode and the newbie mode (apart from the various trophies you can earn) is that in the Professional mode you can only replay a previous level once you've completed the entire pack, whereas in the newbie mode you can replay any level you wish once unlocked. All 200 levels are the same layout wise in both professional and newbie modes.

Any mulligans, jokers or shuffles you've gained in newbie mode are carried forwards into the professional mode.

Changing the language to French, German or Russian:
You can play this game in either English, German, French or Russian. To change the language from English to one of the others you need to open the games installed folder and open the resources folder; then the data folder. Inside this you'll see four files labelled en, de, fr and ru. Remove all but the language you wish to play the game in (I placed the unwanted files in a backup folder). Then rename whichever file for example if I wanted to play in French I renamed the fr file to en (make sure you've removed the original en file first). If you still have any of the 8Floor games in your library, you may be able to do the same with those. I never thought to check before.
Conclusion:
These solitaire games and well worth downloading, especially if you enjoy playing solitaire games. Todays games graphic has colours associated with ice and cold i.e. blue and white with a winter and Festive/Christmas based theme.

If you don't mind playing the same old same solitaire game as most previous solitaire games we've been given that were developed by 8Floor over the last few years, which includes several titles, though with different themes and card skins, then this is well worth downloading.
They can be a pleasant distraction for a few hours, especially when you're at a loss to what to do (rarely in my case).

Whiterabbit-uk,

Notes on Security
I scanned a zipped copy of the installed game using Virus Total and it found ? hit/s (VBA32, Jiangmin & BitDefenderTheta) from 65 antimalware engines. These three are nearly always associated with TooMKY Games compared to most better known and more reliable antimalware engines, so it's very likely to be a false positive; so, it's very likely to be a false positive.
You can see the results of the scan HERE

The downloaded executable 'may' include some low level adware that opens your browser to TooMKY Games home page after the game has installed and may place some shortcuts onto your desktop; these can be safely deleted once the game has installed.

The installation does NOT inject any malware into your system. When your browser is opened to TooMKY Games home page following the games installation, it earns TooMKY Games games some money, part of which is given to the developer of the game for allowing the game to be given away free. The giveaway version of TooMKY games version has had most of the adware disabled.

If you're still not convinced of the games efficacy and want to be absolutely sure that the game is safe to install, please use a sandbox program to check that the game is safe to install before installing it to your C drive or other drives on your computer (assuming you have more than one drive). Personally I've never had any issues with Toomky games.

There are free sandbox programs such as Sanboxie, GeSWall, BitBox, Windows Sandbox, Bufferzone (a six month commercial license was given away via the applications side of the project back in December 2009 HERE), Shadowzone, as well as others. (You'll find them all on the same page from Techwhoop.

Whiterabbit-uk, This is an enjoyable game and worthy of purchase. It was just my thought that the focus is more on finding the 1-10 special cards (which ends the level even when cards are left) and points/money such as the multiplier in this game vs a true casual solitaire experience and that maybe if this was put into a different mode it would appeal to both casual players and those who like challenges more equally. Some levels there are few special cards and are challenging to complete without cheats and enjoyable. The professional mode is further challenging since you cannot replay levels right away to get more money for cheats like in Newbie and here the speed bonus fits.

DataDragon,

Thanks again for your feedback. Did you check out the Abandonware site?

Everyone and their grandmother has played or at least seen a version of solitaire in action. The game came packed in with almost all Windows installations, but it has also been released on consoles, on handhelds and on mobile phones. My all time favorite is still Solitaire Journey 1992 DOS mainly because it not only has 105 different versions of solitaire to play anytime but can be played in the campaign form of either a transcontinental trip or "haunted house" to navigate through a graphical house to find treasure. Of course not many are DosBox warriors these days and so this series is a bit more interesting and diverse as well than what you may have starting with the vanilla Win 95 version. It can be played casually with cheats that can be purchased with gameplay points/money.

The faster you remove cards, the better your score multiplier increasing the amount of money you get and this perhaps should be in a different mode than casual or pro. There are golden colored special cards and if you find all 10 it gives you the maximum points and ENDS the level so the focus then takes away from the fun play and more about the earning of points again which I didnt like and again think this should be in a different mode in any future version. You also cant move cards to a empty row. For this reason its not a long term keeper but generally is enjoyable to play. The graphics and sound are good at least initially, although once in awhile it reminds me of having a movie playing the 30 second preview on and on in the background without hitting the play button to start to movie on occasion.

DataDragon,

Hi DataDragon, thank you for your comment.

You can get Solitaire Journey 1992 for free HERE, though you'll need to download DOSBox (which you can find HERE) as well to be able to play the game. It's well worth the effort as there are hundreds if not thousands of games you can find on various abandonware sites, my favourite being MyAbondonware.

There's a tutorial (posted fourteen years ago) on how to use DOSBox over in the game discussion forums HERE. Ignore the link that wizzard_of_ozz posted in the first comment because it's now dead; instead, read thewebmaster's comment. You can use Norton Commander in conjunction with DOSBox, it makes it easier to run DOS Games; (however, it's now the twelfth download from the top of the page that thewebmaster posted - {that last sentence will make sense once you've read thewebmasters comment}).

Today is the cheerful yet Christmasy follow up to Jack Frost 2 that was given away not too long ago. I had praised the game because of the overall theme of the game, the ability to customize the card backs and the overall an easy to lear / pickup and play factor.

Jack Frost 3 continues in the same tradition and you may be playing for hours on end. Game is very simple you just match the cards from low to high or high to low in the sequence or rank of cards. If you flip the cards over on the bottom to get a new one and had a possible move to play, the card will shake on the playing field to remind you.

There is the ability to earn coins in game so you can make moves like undo, etc. And also achievements as well. I managed to get a perfect game in the first level of the Newbie section but the second and third hands not so much.

I like the fact that this is a premium Solitaire game and it's free from advertising unlike other websites that have free solitaire games and the game experience is distracting due to the ads. However I'm still into Monopoly Solitaire and Grand Harvest Solitaire despite all it's pushy in game micro transactions when you start the games and so forth.

You will love today's game if you enjoyed the second. Also I wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year and thank the GGOTD team for all the fun goodies they have offered throughout the year. Here's to another year of good fun gaming goodness (raises wine glass)
