See the end of this review for details of the latest freebies from Epic Games and Indie Gala. Emperor reminded me that we were given this back in May 2016. You can read the communities comments about the game HERE. Also, congratulations to the 10 winners of the The Last Roman Village steam key. If you get time, please post a review of the game over on Steam via the Write Review link that you can find in the right hand column of your Steam library once you select the game from your list of games. Thank you.

Slingshot Puzzle
In Brief
Slingshot Puzzle is a pinball/golf hybrid where you aim to sink your ball in one shot, collecting all of the gems before the ball is sunk. There’s a large variety of obstacles to overcome, including traps, barriers, ice cubes plus loads more. You get three attempts to pot your ball.

The Game:
I’m always interested in puzzle games that make me have to think; sort of like kick starting my brain cells to figure something out instead of Googling it. :) The frequent Time Management, Hidden Object and the occasional endless runner & match three games are always welcome, but they get old pretty quickly these days after playing literally hundreds of versions of each genre over the years since my first PC back in the mid 80’s. When Slingshot Puzzle was offered here today I was very pleased as I'm becoming much more picky in the games I play these days. Unlike most of the genres I've mentioned above, this physics based puzzle game does require some degree of brain activity to get through each level.

The game features nicely rendered puzzles that are not only challenging but IMO quite entertaining. Depending on how many of the gems you remove from each level, you will be rewarded with an award. Remove all of the gems with your first shot before sinking your ball into the hole will reward you with a gold firs tplace cup. Get and you'll get 1st place. Get ten of those and you’ll receive your first golden cup achievement. there are three of those one for 10, 50 and a hundred ist place cups. Slingshot Puzzle is a pleasant cross between the games pool, marbles and golf. We've had similar games in the past, though not many have been as good looking as today's game. The game has been ported over from android games, which is the reason for the only negative review on Steam, the rest which you can see HERE are positive.
There's as a whole range of puzzles to play, from easy to extremely hard levels. Each successive level introduces something new to the game, keeping it fresh, increasingly challenging and more importantly entertaining.
There's several worlds to unlock. To do so you must complete all the levels in the preceding world before you can access the next. The main objective is to pull back on a slingshot, adjusting the pressure of the loaded springs before letting the plunger go; with the aim of collecting all of the gems then to pot the ball in the hole in one move; utilising any obstacles and/or tools such as movable or moving blocks, speed reducing sand, tubes that speed up and direct the ball, as well as magnets, force fields, fans, switches, Ice Cubes, Saw blades, Lasers and oil slicks to achieve your goal.

You are allowed a maximum of three balls on each level and are rated on the number of gems you collect together with how many balls you required to complete the level. Your aim is to complete each level with one ball. There are lots of achievements to be earned from collecting 10/50/100 golden goblets, open 5 doors, smash 10 ice cubes, collect 100/200/300 diamonds, and finishing each chapter.

Slingshot Puzzle starts out to be a pretty simple game, but the levels become increasingly harder as more objects are introduced. Each puzzle has a new element added to the game, which helps to keep things fresh. There's nothing original as I've seen various aspects of this game in others, but combined you get a decent game with 8 chapters, ranging from Novice, Amateur, Follower, to Professional, Expert and Master. Plus there is a final bonus chapter. Each chapter includes 18 levels and 54 gems to collect (three from each level)m giving you 144 levels to play with.

Conclusion:
Slingshot Puzzle is a well constructed physics based puzzler, released several years ago by alawar entertainment, that has an art style reminiscent of the Victorian era. If you enjoy playing marble like games with challenging levels, this is definitely one worth downloading. It's an ideal accompaniment to a rainy weekend day or while you are taking a break from more officious things in your life. I've thoroughly enjoyed the time I've already spent playing this game since downloading it via MyPlayCity yesterday and would score it a decent 8 out of 10 for it's gorgeous graphics, and challenging puzzles. The game was released several years ago, but still looks as fresh today as it did on release by Alawar.

The latest weekly giveaway over at Epic Games includes two games this week; entitled Moonlighter (an Action RPG with rogue-lite elements) and This War of Mine (an atmospheric post-apocalyptic rogue-like side scrolling platformer); these two games would normally cost you £30. From August 2nd these change over to two more games, i.e. Alan Wake (an atmospheric third person psychological horror/shooter) and For Honor - standard edition (an atmospheric third person hack and slash RPG with gore, swordplay and story rich). These two games give you a combined saving of over £35). Both This War of Mine and For Honor do have extra dlc available that expand the games, but are not necessary to enjoy the games. Finally, there are also over 130 free games available via Steam HERE

Whiterabbit-uk, So this is a limited shot, steampunk-themed golf-meets-pool physics puzzler? I'm in!

Looking forward to this!

I've especially enjoyed games by Alawar for a long time! Always fun, with great graphics and responsive, intuitive controls. This looks like it will be a lot of fun! Thanks so much, Alawar and GAOTD!!

I had this on my iPhone and thought it was very well designed. Some puzzles needed a bit more luck than others, but I never had to rage-quit! Physics modeling seemed so real to me, almost like I had a game board in front of me. I liked the graphics. Sounds fit the action very well. Simple concept, simple world, a lot of skill to develop while playing. My *only* concern was that I would eventually run out levels. So happy to get this on my computer, looking forward to playing it on a larger screen. Highly recommended! Well, at least on iPhone. If the PC translation loses a lot, I'll try to update my review -- I don't expect that will be necessary.

Unable to get a functional download. I disabled anti virus and followed the instructions for download. I get the zip file and I extract all files to another folder (3 times). When I run the setup file I get a window saying it was successfully activated and it brings up the GOTD site on my browser. However, no game is available to actually use.

Seems refreshingly different from the common offerings, thank you MPC, BFG & GOTD. Downloaded and installed without issue, pausing Avast & Zemana AL. Can't play now but I look forward to playing when I have some time.

Thank you Stephen for the review and all.

This game was previously given away on 14th May 2016. I find it interesting and challenging, and sometimes frustrating when I can get the gold cup or three gems, but struggle to achieve both.

emperor, I d/l this when they offered it a few yrs. ago and agree with you. I've d/ then uninstalled a dozen games since I've had this computer and this is a favorite. While I don't play it much, I want to keep it. I finally finished all the levels, albeit on the easiest setting. I like that it can also be played offline, unlike many other games. (even my Classic Spades balks and will frequently close if I don't connect to the 'net) The comment above asking if it was a "steampunk-themed golf-meets-pool physics puzzler" fits it to a T.
