The Game:
This is an eerie story quite intriguing and mysterious; you must save the children before it’s too late. Be prepared to be scared!
Very well executed with astonishing 2d and 3d art.
None! What a pity, it would have helped a lot. However, they did an excellent job by using eerie music to accompany each scene which helps building up momentum.
MUSIC (5/5):
Pretty good! It’s atmospheric and it does reflect the theme of the game.
SFX (Sound Effects) (5/5):
Accurate and appropriate for each active element in the game.
Outstanding art here. Excellent 3d illustrations with animations. I actually had to stop playing a few times to admire the beauty they put in every single detail. Great job!
There are tons of mini games and this makes me so happy; I love ’em! Cute and a little challenging but never too difficult. Mini games require a good amount of focus from your part and definitely make you feel in charge of the situation. Well done!

Very clear to see, the system is the traditional one without any interactive areas, just a list of very well hidden objects to be found in a scene. Interestingly, the objects to be found are not random but related to the game. The areas are well lit and the items, though well blended with the environment, not impossible to be spotted.
Easy tutorial and navigation. There is a drawn map during game play which can help you when you get stuck. When you are stuck, the help button has proven to be vital though you have to wait for it to recharge every single time you use it. A map would have helped a lot because there are tons of beautiful places to explore and sometimes it gets difficult to remember what you were supposed to do with certain items. There is a journal to help you with the quests but a map or a button which doesn’t need recharging when you are looking for a location would have been better. All in all, a very good game to play.

Dear Whiterabbit-uk, were have you found the map in this game? I've found nothing!

But I should admit that I was unable to dounload this game fron GAOTD site, and it was downloaded from Toomky Games.

Moreover, you lose the hint even when you are redirected to another location, which is usually not practiced in HOG. This makes travelling between locations extremely painful. Don't choose the Expert mode; otherwise you'll drop this game at the very beginning.

Sometimes you can find some scrolls with information about Shtriga. One of this scrolls is in Russian, but not in English. Anyway, all this bla-bla-bla could hardly help one to finish the game. For instance, one of the scrolls tells that Shtriga can turn any people into stone. Unfortunately, I haven’t seen any petrified people in any location. It is possible that the power of Striga is overestimated.

This game runs smoothly ander Win XP, as declared. But the poor navigation makes the gameplay very tedious.

Hi Vladimir, The map is part of the intro cut scene shown before the first hidden object scene.

Most excellent review! Great text & images combo. Very through without giving away goodies. Appreciated.
For me I've pretty much given up on this genre. Don't know if due to virus concerns jamming up brain now however the loss of interest was coming on for month or so. I returned to couple and darn if I just couldn't stay engaged.
Appreciate user comments stating some of the nits in format like here the bit about losing a hint when travel to diff spot which is certainly unfriendly design. Really now, aren't best games about ease as much as engagement.
Making user 'work' well that sure defeats the idea of 'fun'. Anyway appreciate list of free Steam & others games.
Stay safe guys.

Had no problem installing on Win 10 64 bit. Have been stuck with only 4 tokens and cannot find the last one. The hint button is frustrating as once it directs to a new direction, you must wait while it reloads. Takes me over and over to the puzzle with the tokens, and wants me to put tokens, however, I only have 4 and it will not accept 4 tokens, so I'm stuck. Have been looking online to see if there's a hint where to find the 5th token, to no avail at this time.

I have not had much luck with Toomkey Games in the past, and today is no exception. Thinking I should just "skip" when offered as it become quite time consuming and frustrating to figure out what's wrong with the program. Thanks for the fun!

Merci .

Nicely done game. I was a bit disconcerted by the opening story - I wasn't sure whether to be reading the text or watching the video, not knowing when each was going to change.

The mini-games close a bit too quickly. I built the mosaic by swapping the tiles, but didn't get much of a chance to enjoy my creation before it opened the door.

Merci pour cette proposition ...pas grave ...il y aura d'autres logiciels de jeux en français ..c'est un peu pour tuer le temps ....

I did not play the entire game, but I enjoyed the challenges I came across. They made me think more than usual and that's great because that's what I am looking for in these games. The find the object part is boringly traditional. I wish someone could come up with a more creative way to pick those objects. I enjoyed the part where arrows show you where to go, but some paths are blocked for different reasons. That avoided me from going to places where nothing was happening. Cool. I haven't seen that before. The pictures are detailed and look professional. Nice, smooth game. Thank you so much for offering this game.

Bonjour et en français c'est possible de trouver ce genre de jeu ?

Reply   |   Comment by lionel  –  8 months ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+2)

lionel, During the install, the first step after the activation is a dialog box where you can select the language to install. English is the default value, but French is one of the options.
