Sorry, but I wasn't the one making the nasty remarks, #40 if you had actually bothered to read my comment you would have figured that out. People attack me for not liking the games that they like. I am pretty fed up with it. I don't really see the logic in being attacked for having an opinion that differs from several others, in most cases not even the majority. You and many others completely missed the point of the comments section by berating others for their differing opinions.

#41 Belgian Dude, I am shocked, shocked I say!
You're always on here criticizing almost every single offering, painting all the programmers who make these various programs as amateurs and presenting yourself as an authority on 'all things computer' and you can't find a simple file mirror?
Yet a person such as myself who makes no claims whatsoever was able to find all 3 required full game files. Amazing isn't it?

To Tonya, Right on!! It gets tiring hearing all the bashing of the free, let me repeat, FREE games offered here and I am only on download #12 so the games offered are nor repeat to me however, I got this message when I tried to download this game......
File '275358' is not found on any working WikiFortio server. Please try again later.
I hope this clears because I only have 2 hours left tops to get this game.

Kilroy,
Thanks for the heads up about trackmaniations but.... I looks a bit to late. The original game and expansionpack links on their are dead. If you know of a mirror where one can download the entire game, not just the demo, I would love to hear of it.

To: "RIP", stop with the nasty remarks, PLEASE! To dvh... I don't see much wrong with what you said.
To ALL WHO ARE B!TCHING about the repeats, let me just say that I have missed several GOOD offerings, simply because I have been on vacation, ill, or, recently my youngest daughter got married and I missed some wonderful games, and when I came back, it bums me out that I missd out, but damned happy that the GGOTD is back. SO, get over it! Quit the b!tching and move on!
I appreciate all that these fine folks offer us, (FOR FREE). Don't like it? GET OVER IT and wait 'til the next day.
I MISSED Y'LL FINE FOLKS THAT GIVE US THESE GREAT GAME GIVEAWAYS! And keep up the great work!

Tedious and confusing game. The results from making a shot seem kinda upredictable, sometimes your ball comes back and sometimes not, and there are powerups which appear for no apparent reason. A tutorial or help file might have got me into the game, instead I played one quick session and uninstalled.

Great game with nice graphics, music, sound, and smoothness, but just not for me. Even has a wide screen display option.
#34: I was going to download the racing game, but then heard about the iffy copy protection used.

Killroy, comment #34, I agree, it's a great racing game with a twist. I got 2 x copies of it with my recent graphics card purchases,(already given away to friends) although I'd already downloaded it from Gamers Hell quite some time ago. May I also suggest America's army, a fantastic First Person Shooter, which now has co-op play included. The download last time I checked was over 2Gb though. It's also only online play. Google it if you are interested. WR

Thanks for the update Keilaron. I only saw it in passing so didn't really take notice as I was more concerned about getting my download of the CrYsis beta. As for you're rather pernickety comment directed at me; you make it sound like I'm competing. I quote....
"And actually, had you paid attention, you would’ve realised that Once Again, FilePlanet misnamed the file: That’s C&C Gold being given away, not TFD (TFD is also 8x that filesize! It comes on a DL DVD!), which has already been reported on the forums. Better luck next time."
There's not meant to be any luck Keilaron, I was just passing on some useful info that I hadn't realized had already been mentioned previously. I’m sure others would have missed it as well.
As for reporting it on the forums; I doubt many readers here go to the forums as they have lives to lead. I on the other hand have all the time in the world. That’s why I am willing to spend so much time writing reviews (although recently I've been rather remise). I enjoy doing it.

whiterabbit the game available for download is C@C gold, no wonder it is free, I paid 30 bucks for the first decade and pretty much everything up to C&C RA2 doesn't work... I wouldn't waste your time DLing unless you have a win95 machine for some reason.

Might I ad that if you already downloaded this game 6 months ago when it was offered, you OBVIOUSLY are not getting anything for free because you already got it half a year ago. Use some common sense, #9.

#9 kindly shut YOUR yap. Why is it that people can't resist making snide remarks about other people's comments when they really have no reason to? Breakout Shooting was already offered, therefore it is a repeat. END OF STORY. You don't need to make yourself look like an ass by attacking other people's comments. When is this crap going to end?

Horribly addicting! I never played marbles or games like it, this is really neat. I like that each time you play a new game, when you start on level 1, it's different each time. You don't have to play thru 10 levels of the same old levels you played 20 times just to get to the next one. It also has a save game mode, so it looks like if you lose, you can go back to the save and pick up on the level you left off.
It ran very smoothly on Windows XP.

Strange to claim that a game is based around a 'non-classic' genre !
Anyway, I love breakout games, and this is kind of a twist on that game-type, with a limited number of balls to clear a screen of spheres that bounce around, rather than the ball, paddle, static blocks approach.
I've had a quick go on it, and it certainly seems fun, and a game that I'll go back to, to while away the odd half-hour here and there.
Certainly worth the download, and one of those games with an 'I'll just have a go at clearing the next screen' addictiveness to it.
@ Chris (23) - I had no problems installing the game, and it played straight away for me.

#16 - That isn't 'the first decade', it is only 'C&C 95' which doesn't even have the expansion, and isn't 'C&C Gold'

This game is one of the few that I have personally played a lot of, it is an excellent destresser and is simply gorgeous to look at. The following is my adapted original review from early Summer -
Breakout Shooting downloaded and installed beautifully on XP with pleasingly no extra advertising icons in any menu or folder.
On starting the game up the first thing I noticed was the work that had gone into what can only be described as gorgeous graphics - even the logo of the developer, RealApex, which is the first thing that appears, is animated and akin to those of professional movie companies.
Throughout the game beautiful photos of astonishing landscapes provide the backdrop to play, the game board itself transparent in contrasting shades of purples and blues. The entire experience of playing Breakout Shooting is futuristic - the landscapes are overlapped with planetary type see-through orbs and even the menu with its rippling golden water effect on mouse-over and animated gold cursor shows that much thought has gone into the design throughout.
The music is not just tolerable but enjoyable to listen to. Keeping with the atmosphere of the design, the music is somewhat “trancey” and provides a suitable background to play. It can be lowered down or muted as can the sound effects, the controls of which are separate. Backrounds can also be turned off to a solid purple from this page, but they are so spectacular I can’t imagine anyone wanting to. The menu for the sound/ background is once again designed beautifully and differently from the other menu, again showing that extra work has gone into it.
Breakout Shooting has built-in help pages explaining the rules and modes of play of which there are many from which to choose. You can play alone or against the computer and can choose your level of skill beforehand.
Playing against the computer is particularly enjoyable and easy to pick up, the board is designed somewhat like a chess-board and you aim your balls at your opponents’, the winner being the first to knock the other’s out of play. A high-score board is provided at the end of the game.
Breakout Shooting is a joy to play, undoubtedly fun for all ages and definitely one that should be kept in your computer’s games folder.
Added to this earlier review, I have played more against the computer than the solitaire version and have appreciated it more and more. The way the balls glide across the table is just exquisite and their spin and shine in between moves is just mesmerising. I recommend the 'Hard' setting with the ball speed set at 100% (even that is fab to watch, as the level reaches 100% sparks fly out and it makes an appropriate fizzing noise - the detail is just so intricate throughout). Playing the game takes me back to the atmosphere of Summer with the dancey music and bright graphics, a good thing given the currently earlier and earlier darkness of night! Breakout Shooting was the game with the most positive reviews I have seen written about any game on this site, everyone seemed to love it. It's not hard to see why, if you missed it the first time you should definitely download today, it's simply spectacular.

I downloaded this game last time it was offered, and really enjoyed it.
The trick with this game, as with any other, is to not play it until you burn out on it!
I have kept several of the games I D/L'd from here, and rotate game play so I don't hate them after a week!
This one has great graphics, is challenging, and fun!

Hi again. This is a little off the point with respect to this game, but i'm sure many of you will love the following freebie..... I was downloading the beta test of CrYsis earlier today because I managed to secure a Beta testers key and noticed that the Strategy game 'Command and Conquer: The First Decade' is now totally free. It contains all the titles released between 1995 to 2003, which are listed below. You can download it from the following link, although you may have to sign up for a free subscription to actually download it.
http://www.fileplanet.com/180464/180000/fileinfo/Command-&-Conquer-The-First-Decade---Full-Game-(Complete)
It may also be available from EA’s home site, but I haven’t checked. You can download patches for the game from filefront or fileplanet. Filefronts url is:
http://browse.files.filefront.com/Command+Conquer+The+First+Decade+Official+Patches/;1588336;/browsefiles.html
The following review is by anonymous from game zone. I claim no credit for writing I; I just thought it would give you a better idea as to whether you want to bother downloading the game as it it very large, so if you are on dial up it will probably not be practical unless you are willing to leave it on for a couple of days (literally) The size is 1.11Gb.
The article below may give the impression that it costs money, (which it did until recently) but the full collection is now absolutely free. I have a couple of the titles and can honestly say tat I thoroughly enjoyed playing them, although I’m now into first person shooters; still I do return to this game once in a while as it’s great fun if you like games in general.
Check out the following link for lots of cool images of the package. ‘I can’t believe it’s being given away free’……... :) :) :)

Review by anonymous:
Command and Conquer The First Decade is probably the best compilation of games from any genre all in one DVD. The C&C series started back in 1995 with Command and Conquer, which at the time was one of the few, if not the only real-time strategy type games. They paved the way into gamer's hearts offering not only exciting game play but offered titles that had great graphics, compelling storylines, exceptional acting and fantastic sound effects and music . These attributes provided the groundwork for some of the best titles in the industry and a fan base like no other.
There are 12 titles in the collection spanning over 10 years from 1995-2003. Not quite a real 10 years, but seeing as there has not been a release of any C&C games since 2003 it's close enough. Twelve titles in nine years is still pretty remarkable and shows that Westwood Studios kept working hard to keep the fans happy. The bonus DVD is certainly worth viewing. It goes on about all the development of all the games and into some detail about how the fan base grew as the series progressed. Has about an hour of content and I highly recommend watching it if you purchase this excellent title.
Command & Conquer The First Decade will combine the following titles:
• Command & Conquer™(Aug. 1995)
• Command & Conquer The Covert Operations™ (April 1996)
• Command & Conquer™Red Alert™ (Oct. 1996)
• Command & Conquer™ Red Alert™The Aftermath™ (Sept. 1997)
• Command & Conquer Red Alert Counterstrike™ (Mar. 1997)
• Command & Conquer™Tiberian Sun™ (Aug. 1999)
• Command & Conquer™ Tiberian Sun™ Firestorm (Feb. 2000)
• Command & Conquer™ Red Alert™ 2 (Oct. 2000)
• Command & Conquer™ Yuri's Revenge™ (Oct. 2001)
• Command & Conquer Renegade™ (Feb. 2002)
• Command & Conquer™Generals (Feb. 2003)
• Command & Conquer™ Generals Zero Hour (Sept. 2003)
Visually you can definitely see the progression of technology as you play through each of the titles noticing how the graphics and game play improved over the years as computers advanced over time allowing for better visuals and more in-depth game play. Though the earlier titles may not be as pretty, they still provide some awesome gaming that any RTS fan will surely enjoy. Personally, my collection only involves Red Alert 2 through Generals Zero Hour. Now I was able to play the earlier titles to see how the series evolved over the years. Wow, was I impressed. I have always loved the fact that the games involved real actors - some of which you have actually seen in real Hollywood movies. I have always felt in any game that when you use real talent it always helps the storyline in any genre. It surely beats bad voice-overs from the local college trying terrible foreign accents that you know you yourself could do better at. Just one more accolade to add to the long list of paramount attributes in the development of a great series.
All the titles have top-notch sound effects and the music is still the best I have ever heard. The voices were great and I always liked the different sound bytes you would hear when selecting a unit. I.e., Tanya with her “Shake it Baby” … and yes she is still smoking hot! When you have 100 units doing different tasks, planes flying over dropping bombs, guys being blown to oblivion, buildings pumping out units or being destroyed was like overload to my ears because it sounded so good. It’s a wonder that my ears didn’t bleed. The sound effects had me so immersed in the game that when I heard the nuclear alert go off I wanted to hide under my desk. In short, these games all had unique qualities and pushed the envelope at the time of their development. If there were not hardware limitations it would interesting to see what else they could have come up with.
All the storylines were so creatively done it’s a wonder that Westwood or EA has not jumped on the bandwagon and gone Hollywood. I could see how some of the titles could certainly be spun to be a box office hit. Heck, cast Kari Wuhrer (Tanya the gorgeous agent from red alert 2) in it and I would sure be at the box office! In all seriousness the creativity was second to none and I surely hope that in 10 years we will be looking at a second decade of hits. Gameplay: 9.0
After the initial set up it’s a snap to get on with the gaming. All the games are on one DVD, which eliminates fumbling around with different CD’s. Even if you own a few of the titles it's worth picking this up and having them all. I have always been a fan of the series because playing was very easy with a small learning curve and adjustable options. The storylines are epic in their own right and Westwood has made it a practice to use some real Hollywood actors, which proves that they take great measures to make a good game into a great game.
Graphics: 8.0
Keep in mind that some older games are on the disk so compared to today’s graphics they don’t even hold a candle to them. Some of the more recent titles like Generals still look good despite being a couple of years old. C&C has always pushed the envelope to invoke new technologies in their games. This used to be a bear on older PCs. Today's PCs can take the abuse these titles hand out easily, which make playing them now pretty much trouble free even on the highest visual detail settings.
Sound: 9.0
Still sounds great after all these years. I do not believe that any of the games are surround sound supported, but still sound good in stereo. The music from these game is some of the best I have ever heard.
Difficulty: Medium
You can toggle many of the settings to make the game as easy or as hard as you like. Experienced players will find the multiplayer useful for those all-out slugfests.
Concept: 8.0
I like what EA has been doing with some of their legacy titles like the Sims and the C&C series. For those who might have tried a few games on the disc, it makes purchasing this compilation worthwhile.
Multiplayer: 9.0
Still one of the best multiplayer games I have ever played.
Overall: 8.8

http://game.giveawayoftheday.com/breakout-shooting/
There was apparently a problem some people found around level 25. It will be interesting to see if this problem occurs again, or whether it as been fixed, if indeed there was a problem. I can’t remember having any issues with my bought copy. I’ll test it over today and see.
This is a mix of pool and marbles, with some interesting power ups and great graphics. This is a very simple game, with lots of playability; no need to spend time wondering how to play it as it’s a simple concept (Marbles and Pool rolled into one).
I highly recommend that you download this if you haven’t already. If you did previously, I’d still download it just in case the bug that some reported has been fixed. :) Don’t let the title mislead you into thinking it’s an arkanoid/breakout. (my favourite genre apart from the plethora of $50 games that abound).
I give this 8 out of 10 for it’s playability, charm, and graphics and lastly it’s fresh music.

Effectively identical to Mythic Marbles or any of the many other marble-breakout-competition games out there. Not bad, but the controls were not as intuitive as other plays on this theme and the gameplay was unimaginative and repetitive. The upside is there is plenty of play time in this game and, of course, it's absolutely free today. A nice timewaster if you can stand the repetition.
