I'm away for most of today, so don't have time to write up a full review this morning. When I return home if i have time I may play the game longer to see how the Shark evolves then update this short review.

A side scrolling fish 'evolution' game

Introduction:

In the game SHARK you control the shark, which should eat orange plankton to evolve. Do not fall into the fishing nets and dodge the flying harpoons in you! And do not try to swallow an underwater mine, it will also kill you! Having reached the second level of evolution, your shark will receive an additional life. And by evolving to the third level you will get the ability to gobble up the harpoon and even get points for it! (just press the space bar to do this). Unobtrusive game play under pleasant music.

Installation:

SHARK downloads to a 39.2 MB zip file that unzips to two files, (a set-up executable and a read me). The game installs to the following path by default, but can be changed if you wish. The installed game is approximately 110 MB in size.

Five shortcuts are installed to the desktop, four of which can be safely deleted (i.e. Falco Space - Online Game!, FalconLine Online Games Website, FalcoGo WebGL Games! and Free Games Downloads!). If you don't want to install the games shortcut to the desktop during installation, just make sure the install desktop shortcut is unchecked when the 'additional task's window appears; you will still get two of the other Falcoware shortcuts installed (i.e. FalconLine Online Games Website & FalcoGo WebGL Games shortcuts). Also, if you don't like icons installed to the quick launch task bar, make sure you also uncheck the appropriate checkbox when the 'additional task's window appears (after the Select Start Menu Folder window).

I managed a few moments in game and too be honest, it's not very inspiring. You control your shark using the WASD keys to move up,left, down and right. You have to avoid the nets and harpoons. Until,you evolve to level 3 if hit by a harpoon or caught in a net you die. As you progress forwards you eat all the plankton you can (the orange/red
dots). You will slowly evolve. From level 5 onward you also have mines to avoid. I gave up after several minutes finding the game too boring as it lacked any diverse action apart from avoiding the harpoons, nets and mines. As mentioned in the introduction, the harpoons can be eaten once you've evolved to level 3.

Apart from noticing the shark growing in size slightly when it evolved, I didn't get far enough to see if it changed significantly.

The game is on sale via Steam for £0.79/$0.99/€0.79. The developer has had several games removed from Steam and the reviewer I mention above also mentions this.
