The game installed and played fine on Saturday. Today it became unplayable. It locks up the screen and when I exit out, there is an error message box that says: "Oops! The game crashed. The crash report folder named "Crash_2014-07-27_173506" next to game executable. It would be great if you'd send it to the developer of the game!"

Thanks for the feedback Barbara; checked mine and it still works okay. we may get later versions of the game in the not too distant future. :)

I am on Win 8.1 and the game gets stuck every now and then. By getting stuck I mean it is blocking my entire PC and even Task Manager can not resolve this. The only thing I can do is sign off completely and log on again. Of course that kills everything else I wasa doing. When I relaunch it continues at the beginning of the level and usually works for a couple of levels. I say 'usually' because just now the same level crashed upon me twice in a row.
I like my games casual, playing one or a few levels, and then return to my other activities. With this game's crashes I can not. This is going to be the first thumbs down ever for me (as far as I can remember at least).

Installed and ran just fine on Windows XP SP3.

I haven't played the relaxed mode yet, but the timed quest mode gets awfully fast and frantic. There's not much time to plan ahead or look for the best combos, you're pretty much reduced to frantically clicking all over the screen to complete the goals within the allowed time.

There are powerups and magical items to help, but you don't get much time to even take a look at what things are and how they might help you because every second counts.

Fortunately failing a level doesn't deduct a "Life" like in the Atlantis series so there isn't a danger of having to start over completely from the beginning, failing a level just means repeating that level.

#4 Fisch- Actually the "machine gun" sound is highly appropriate to the timed mode, since you're essentially machine gunning the screen to destroy as many chains as you can before time runs out. You can kill another chain while a previous one is still falling so you get a constant machine gun sound as they crash all around. (Not exactly what you might expect from fairies and magical kingoms, to be sure, but apropos to the rapid speed of the game.)

Enjoying this one so far.. it's different enough from the typical Match-3 game to make it worth playing.

"Do you have DX 9 installed? In theory the new versions of DX are supposed to work, but Google on terms like win8.1 dx9 or windows 8.1 and direct x 9 — you’ll see all sorts of problem reports for different games when/if DX 9 wasn’t present."

FWIW, from Vista on not all files are included for full DX 9 compatibility. There is a Micro$oft "update" for this, but you must download and install it manually (it won't affect DX10 or 11).

I love the game Season Match. I chose Easy instead of timed; however, I am playing against a timed bar at the bottom of the screen. I can see no place for me to bring up the mode of play screen so I can make sure Easy is checked instead of Timed. I never play in timed as I'm older and need more time and want to relax when I play. How can I check this out or am I just stuck in timed forever.

Thank you.

I would love to give it a try, but the player who said it had a keylogger has warned me away from it. I'm sure other companies do it and players are unaware. Would think one could sue, but if in beta downloading is at our own risk.
So I'll pass.
Thanks for other games!

Please post if that person is wrong!!

There is NO keylogger in this game. If there was there would be many more community members posting details of one. There has been approximately 10 thousand downloads of this game. One mention of a keylogger in 10 thousand is insignificant (that's 0.01% of the game giveaway community) .

The game giveaway team throughly check all games before they are added to the download servers using several malware suites. As I've said many times; the teqm have been giving games away for eight years and there has never been one game given away with malware, though there has been many community members reporting malware attacks, but these have always been false positives.

@Persia...Re: Keylogger alert

I use a keylogger also. and most the time, especially if they have a special cursor in the game, it alerts me to the game. It actually does keylog in a way since it takes over the job of your cursor. So no worries. Now...if you are not installing a game and it comes up..then it's a different matter.

I forgot to thank Urse games and GGOTD for the decent game this week. I have already finished it and started the arcade part. It will be a great relaxer..because the game is a so easy. Thanks for the review Wabbit...too.

Alright, I liked this game!

First off, it installed fine on Win7 64x, SP whateveritisnow and ran without a problem.

Going in, I didn't think I would like it as it's far different than what you do with normal match-3 games. As it went along, I actually found I really liked how they went about this! Not only was it fun to knock off large chunks of the board, but when you hit the levels where the bombs and such were, it was great!

The music in it was actually really good. I'm the kind that needs it to where I can relegate it to the background and not notice it much or it makes me insane. This has that kind and it's great. The ambient sounds are perfect for what's going on, so that adds a huge plus.

The action is fairly fast paced and the puzzles plenty challenging when you get up to the higher levels. I found myself having to replay plenty of them as I progressed. That I do like as most are meh on that.

On the downside, I agree with the comments about you go nowhere with it. It's just different shapes when it comes to the puzzles with the standard you have to break this to press forward. Perhaps adding something like they do with the Fishdom games and allowing you to build up something to your tastes would help you.

The backstory is another meh thing. I tend to ignore those anyway, honestly, and just click through. This one was more meh than normal.

The graphics were good, but not great. Perhaps something more realistic would help with that.

Overall, I give this a thumbs up as I adored it. I do realize that plenty get bored with match-3 games as you don't go much of anywhere with them, but they are my second favorite behind time management and I use them for odd purposes (thinking over what I'm going to write that night—don't ask, I'm strange!). So, for me, this was a good one.

Thanks again for another great game!

Very nice to see a new game in a genre I like. Realize that new games are sparse during the summer, and happy to see a variety of games, so everyone gets something that they like. But ... new game. :-)

It's pretty, if a bit limited in the gameplay; just point and click. A reminder in the "rules" of what the tools do would have been nice.

Hi Stephen! Still cleaning up after the storms here, but had time to try this game out and post a comment...

It's fine for a relaxing match-3 type game, very easy and requires no thought, but fun and colorful. Runs fine on my under-powered Vista laptop, had no problems at all. Like the "splash screen" --> actual splash screen glitch, nice touch, programmer!

Fun little time-waster, but aimed more at kids I think. Just what I need to combat pin... I'll probably keep it, rate it 8 of 10.

RE: gbryant,
To see how you have progressed..pay attention to the points of the flower and where the butterfly is...Green is completed and yellow/gold is the ones you need to complete. That is the way so far..having completed summer and now working on spring...

Easy fun pretty match 3. I find it hard to figure out how to complete some of the levels. But it does have a timeless mode. Installed, no problems..Win7 64 bit.

Just got back from 10 days of camping, Oh Floppy Eared One. Going back in Sept for a week ..maybe. Hope you and the family are enjoying the summer and settling into the new house. Huggles to you and the kids...You Wrascally Wabbit!

Was working fine until I got to Summer, level 3 or 4 (was also watching NCIS so lost track) and it totally froze my computer. Couldn't get out of the screen with control escape, F1 or any other tricks I know, had to use the 3 key salute. What I saw in the task app window was "Fatal Error in GC" and the rest of the proggie "Not Responding". Once I forced shut down of the game everything went back to normal.

Am using Win 7 Pro, plenty of room on hard drive and everything up to date. First problem I've had since I got this laptop a year ago. Going back into the game and will let you know if it happens again.

I have all 3 in the series and really enjoy these games. This first one is a straight match 3 to save the queen's mirror.

As someone that makes her living proofreading and editing, the first thing I noticed was that you can tell the dialogue was translated from a different language and no one who was a native English speaker/writer edited the copy before it hit the public.

To its credit though the game has excellent graphics and the power ups are decent and effective.

Even though I cringe at the word tense used (noting it's a translation of the original) on some of the dialogue, I play this game because it offers a relax game play and just for the visual graphics.

Thanks for offering it GGOTD :)

I have been downloading games for years and never had a problem..until now. I have Anti-logger software on my computer and it showed that this game SeasonMatch is being key-logged. I don't think I seen this company used here before..or I have not downloaded a game from them. I know that Game giveaway checks for malware etc., please check for key-loggers too. Too bad, it looked like a really good game. Thank you.

Urse games have given games here lots of times, but not recently; the most noteworthy games they gave were the breakout games Gem Ball and a couple of others that i've forgotten the names of, but Gametop has one in their 24/7 freebies but with a name change called A Ball. Not seen them here for at least 5 years.

Possibly MPC have changed the way they install games. They tend to do this every six months or so. If there was a real problem with the game w.r.t. malware, we would be getting a lot of reports of it here.

I always unzip and run as admin. Using WIN 7 64 bit laptop. No problems unzipping or running. As someone else mentioned there is a white screen labeled as Splash Screen before the opening screen, but I've seen this in other games by this company, I think they feel they are obligated to put it in for some reason.

I played 2 rounds and it seemed fairly easy on timed level, though I'm sure this will change as the levels increase. Graphics are bright and easy to see.

Sound: I live with chronic pain, very hard for me to get more than 2 or 3 hours sleep or so per 24 hr period. To deal with this I turn off all sounds in a game and listen to audio books while I play games so I turned off the sound in the game, therefore I can't comment on the sound.

I give it a 8/10 for the amount of levels, being allowed to choose timed or not and for graphics.

Thanks White Rabbit for all the work you do in obtaining the games for us, the work you put into the other links and just generally for being here.

Your link is on my blog and I pin for you on my board every weekend, if you need a pin during the week for something you have my email.

Thankyou. :) The splash screen was probably the developers logo, which has been removed, possibly at their request, or as a by-product of the giveaway wrapper. I am only a volunteer, it's the giveaway team that actually get the games for us. I've just been here since the inception of the game giveaway. After getting loads of games whn it really was a giveaway every day, seven days a week, I felt obliged to start writing more feedback. If you checked out the giveaways from way back in late Dec 2006 and onwards, you will see that my contibutions to the comments grew, until by 2008 I was writing full reviews.

Nice game, but not quite done yet, it seems, though fortunately only in small areas. First, when the game launches, it comes up on a white screen that says simply "Splash Screen" before proceeding to the, umm, splash screen. The gameplay is fine, most of the standard power-ups are there, but every time you finish a level, you come back out to a screen that shows the season name and some nice animations, but there is no sense of progress. The score page at the end of level tells you which episode you just completed, but there's no sense of how close you are to the end of the season. As you clear the mirror shards, they just plunge into an unchanging mirror, again, no hint about how far along you are. I would prefer something like Rise of Atlantis, where you get a solid feel for your progress.

Season Match:

season 01

season 02

Installation:

Today’s game giveaway is Season Match a match three game

The giveaway downloads to a 45.6 MB zip file that unpacks to a read me and dual activation and set up module. To new game giveaway visitors that means just install the game and it should automatically register because the activation module is wrapped in with the set up file. The game installs to

C:\Games\SeasonMatch_game

The installed game is Mb in size. The game works on Win 7 and Win 8 platforms. I no longer use Vista or XP so can't confirm whether it works on those operating systems.

There is no shortcut installed to the desktop or the Stat menu programs list, so, make a note of where you install the game so that you can create a shortcut yourself.

season 03

season 04

If you get any problems once the giveaway is over, or late in the day (there's no moderation usually for the last five or six hours until the last half hour or so of the giveaway) please post them over in the forums.

Introduction:

The story of Season Match starts when the Snow Queen has her magic mirror broken, and decides to make cold winter stay forever in the fairy-land. You will set out on a legendary journey to find the pieces of the broken mirror, put them together and beat the Snow Queen. So, get ready to use the wisdom of 3 beautiful princesses and complete 260 collapse arcade levels with a bonus of extra 100 levels, available upon collection of all the trophies.

Reference accessed HERE 26th July 2014

season 05

season 06

The Game:
Fans of 3-in-a-row games looking for a relaxing puzzler to waste away a lazy afternoon might not be disappointed with Season Match – but it’s very easy game-play and slow pacing might bore more players than enthrall them.

The story involves a malicious Snow Queen who decides to make cold winter stay forever in this fairy land after her magic mirror breaks. This is where you come in. You set out on an epic quest to find the pieces of the broken mirror and put them together to defeat the Snow Queen. To do so, you enlist the wisdom of three beautiful princesses – emerald spring, blossoming summer and golden autumn – to help make your way to the Snow Queen’s castle to beat her once and for all.

season 07

season 08

In both the main Quest mode (timed levels) and Relaxed mode (no timer), your goal is the same: click on a batch of three or more adjacent gems, which causes them to disappear, making room for more jewels to cascade down the screen. Therefore, you’re not swapping gems (a la Bejeweled), nor are you linking adjacent stones to make a lengthy chain (such as Heroes of Hellas) – you’re simply clicking on the same grouped-together colors to remove them (like Super Collapse! or QBeez).

The bigger is the group you click on, the higher your score; the level is completed when all highlighted squares have been used to make a match (such as ones with backgrounds that need to be destroyed).

season 09

season 10

Each level has its own unique layout shape, magical power-ups that can help you remove them faster (either individually or a complete column) and obstacles that get in the way of your goal. In the main Quest mode you can collect coins to add some time to the meter.

Problem is, the game really doesn’t go anywhere. It’s very, very easy (anecdotally, even my 3-year-old got to level 5 before he got bored), so gamers might feel a sense of repetition and monotony after an hour of play or so. Even when you complete one season and move onto the next, you’re likely to think “um, ok, so what’s new here?”

You can, however, collect a number of trophies to view any time from the main menu. In total, the game offers 260 levels, with a bonus of extra 100 levels if you collect all the trophies.

season 11

season 12

Season Match isn’t a horrible experience, but with so many other – and better – 3-in-a-row games available, you just might find this one average at best. At the very least, download the free trial and give the puzzler a spin to see if you find yourself enchanted with this interactive fairy tale.

If you do enjoy this game, there are two more in the series, Season Match: Curse of the witch Crow, Season Match 2 and Season Match 3

Games, Games, and yet more Games plus Download, Installation & Game play Problems:

If you have any problems installing or getting to work today's game please go HERE for help. I've posted all of the common problems and solutions in a FAQ thread, which you can find in the sticky section of the forums by following the above link.

This weekends Steam deals are 75% off the Dead Island Franchise (brilliant zombie game, with an open world feel), 50% off Broken Age, 75% off Ace Combat Assault Horizon - Enhanced Edition, 80% off Ace of spades (Minecraft inspired shooter), 80% off Trine 2: Complete Story, 80% off Trine complete, 81% off Two worlds II: Velvet Edition (if you like third/first person RPG's, you'll love this game, especially the price at only £3.60), 75% off Flatout: Ultimate Carnage (if you have Flatout 2, this is just an upgrade of that game with improved graphics and 12 cars to race agains instead of 8), 65% off Train Simulator 2014 (the most expensive dlc set of any game I've seen - over £2000 worth of dlc available, but the base game is still well worth getting if you like train sims - IMO it's the best one), 75% off Frozenbyte Collection, 75% off Flatout Complete pack, 50% off 100% Orange Juice, 80% off Toki Tori, 50% off Worms Armageddon, 66% off Gas Guzzlers Extreme, 60% off Warhammer 40 000: Kill Team, 50% off Samuri Gunn, 50% off Daedalic Adventure Bundle, 90% off Puzzler world 2, 50% off FortressCraft Evolved, 50% off Selnam Defence, 75% off Strike suit Zero: Directors Cut, 90% off Shadowgrounds and Shadowgrounds : Survivor, 80% off Solar 2, 75% off Sword of the Stars complete Collection, 66% off Darkout as well as loads more. There are over 100 reductions this week.

You'll also find some excellent deals over on the following Game sites, some of which have summer sales on.

GreenManGaming
Gamersgate Summer Sale
GOG
Desura
Gamestop
GameFly

To be honest there are too many game deals around too list them all. Just visit the sites I recommend above and I'm sure you'll find something that suits you for a very decent price. If like me you prefer Steamwork games, many of the above sites also sell Steamwork games.

If that's not enough, check out the Game Discussion forums HERE for details of other games either free or on deals such as the Indie Game bundles (there's over 20 of them - If you purchased all of them you'd be paying around $80 for around a thousand dollars worth of games); or check out the four day sales at IndieGameStand. I've updated the Indie Game bundle thread to include all the latest bundles. you'll find that thread HERE. I've

The latest IndieGameStand game is Monsters, a 2D action shooter inspired by the classic arcade game Robotron 2084. If it gets Greenlit you will get a Steam key. .
The latest Daily Indie game is Revenge: Rhobar's Myth, an open world game of magic and exploration. You can get two keys if you pay more than $1.09 (at the time of writing); (one for a friend or family member perhaps?). You'll find that deal HERE. They also have a mini bundle of several games that’ll cost a minimum of $0.99 HERE

Most of the bundles retail for around $5 give or take a few dollars, but you can pay as little as a dollar for some.

A Request for help:

Developers rely on good feedback to improve their games. If you download this game please take some time once you’ve played it a while to leave some constructive feedback either positive or negative. The more constructive feedback we get, the more likely developers are going to give more games away. The giveaway site already has a very good standing with the search engines. Developers want their products out there on the WWW, this site has the potential to do that. The game giveaway project gives away on average 9 to 17 thousand downloads for each game depending upon what genre and how obscure the game is. That’s a lot of homes these games are being downloaded into and a lot of 'potential' cash that’s being lost by the developers. If we get better games because of better feedback, the community are likely to continue to benefit from the generosity of the developers. Satisfied community members are then more likely to visit the home sites of those developers and purchase games that they may not have bothered with before they discovered the developer via the game giveaway site, thus giving the developers more incentives to give away even more decent games.

Please leave some feedback once you've checked the game out. It can be positive or negative, but please explain what your reasons were for the feedback you post. You could also leave suggestions for improving the game, for example, this game could do with more block types for the levels editor, add more power-ups, describing the ones you think would be suitable, add some mini games (which seem all the rage in some arcade games now) or enable the user to be able to change the in game music easily.

Thank you in advance to all those who take the time to post a constructive comment.

Regards

Whiterabbit aka Stephen
