Hi,

It downloaded in a short time and opened easily. The graphics are good and play is very easy!
Very repetitious like the other gold rush, but still a cute game! I would recommend it for youngsters.
You have to hit in the right place or it won't work, will have to see if can change cursors. Every once in awhile
I'd like to see a finish scene with something other than fireworks!!
Have a great rest of the weekend and thanks for the game! Lee

Have you tried turning your security off temporarily> The game is wrapped in a Themida wrapper which is sometimes blocked by some security software becasue Themida code has been used to hide malware. However, the game giveaway uses it to stop hackers from stealing the games exe files. If that isn't the issue, check your event logs via the event viewer (type event viewer in the search field). Try installing the game again, then immediately check the logs. also check the FAQ's thread over in the game discussion forums. You may find a fix there.

These games are just darling. Rush for Gold: California was easy to install. Easty to play and kept my attention. I truly like games that I can share with my young grandchildren.

I have just finished rush for gold Alaska so I was pleased to see this game on offer. You can swap between relaxed and timed mode any time you want and continue to progress through the game levels. The one thing i like in this game is that once you send a worker to the fishing tent or to dig for gold they stay until all the food is gone unlike rush for gold Alaska. Thank you for offering this game today.

Initially, I was given a link to the download manager (no link was included for the actual game). That link produced the file "fdm5_x64_setup" with no extension given. I was unable to open this file no matter what I tried (including downloading the file three times).
I went back to the link given in the email and this time the download for the actual game was included on the page. When I clicked on this link, the actual game file began to download. I still have 9 more minutes left on the download but at least this will give me a "zip" file which I can open and the game should install just fine.
It's been a tad annoying to have to go through all this trouble to access the actual game file download - but at least it appears I will be successful this time.

I've tried downloading this program 5 times but it simply will not open for me. I keep getting a pop-up message asking for identification of what program to use to open/install the file. I have tried using a zipfile opener but it does not recognize the extension on this game manager file - and I have no idea how to determine what the extension is. It is something none of my program recognize.

Please direct me to a link that contains a .zip file where I can access the game manager download cleanly. There seems to be some kind of error in the download link you provided in your email to me.

Great! Thanks.

Guessing this will be very similar to Gold Rush:Alaska, which has been great fun to play.

Playing relaxed mode gets three gold starts for each level, which in turn means you get enough stars to be able to buy stuff for the town - trees, fountains etc - which make it look pretty.

For several months I have been having a problem. About half the time I get a message that the KEY can not be decrypted. This happens after unzipping. I am using express zip file software. This happens after I click on the setup file. It asks do I want to runs the program I say yes. Then the pop up that says activating contacting ggotd . Then the can not decrypt the key. I have disabled virus etc. About half the time I have no problem. W10 up to date. Maybe someone has a suggestion
I love time management games and would like to play this one.

It's probably your security blocking the install due to the Themida wrapper. did you check the read me?

Third day in a row where I can't download it, what gives?

Reply   |   Comment by Oldtimer3  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Oldtimer3, If the Problem that you are having is the Following:
"When you Click the Download Now button, and the Pop-up asks you to Share it on Facebook, and Nothing happens." If you are Not using Google Chrome, then Try doing it again with Google Chrome."

This happened to me for such a Long Time, and then one day while I was using Google Chrome online, I had decided to check GiveAwayOfTheDay's website, and it worked. So I needed to prove to myself that the problem was indeed the Browser (Firefox) that I was using was messing with me. So I opened Firefox and tried with it, and I was unable to Download as always. If you are not having this scenario as your Problem, then could you be more specific with what is happening please. That way I will do my best to Help you out.

Oldtimer3, more details would help us to tell you what gives. In the meantime, try Whiterabbit's common problems link. He gives it out every time he moderates

Didn't we have a simular game recently? The last one was "Rush for Gold - Alaska" I don't know whether I like the other one because I chose the Relaxed mode which is good for carming down ... ;-)
For those who missed the other one: Time management, nice graphics and possible relaxed mode...

Rush for Gold: California
In Brief
A time management game with a Gold Rush theme.
image

image
Installation:
Rush for Gold: California downloads to a 203 MB zip file that unzips to three files, (a setup.gcd security wrapper, the set-up file and a read me). Those with multiple hard drives can save games on any drive they wish. The newly installed game is 259 MB in size. The game installs to the following path by default, but can be changed by the user if you prefer:
C:\Program Files (x86)\MyPlayCity.com\Rush For Gold - California
Four shortcuts are installed to the desktop. three of which can be safely deleted (Play Online Games, MyPlayCity Games and shortcuts to a free online game which vary each week). Also, if you don't like icons installed to the quick launch task bar, make sure you uncheck the box when the additional tasks window appears (after the Select Start Menu Folder window)

The Game:
Released March 19, 2014 by Rainbow games, this is the second installment in the Rush for Gold series, were given Rush for Gold: Alaska last weekend. If you missed it, you can still get it free via MyPlayCity HERE. If you do download from MyPlayCity, do make sure you uncheck the three checkboxes at the start of the install process otherwise you’ll find toolbars, and changes of browser and home pages.
Rush for Gold: California isn’t very different from its predecessor Rush for Gold: Alaska. The artwork style and gameplay are both similar. As with all resource-management games, the story is pretty thin in ‘California’. The opening cutscene is cute with good voice-over, but that is basically all that it has.
As said, the look and feel of this sequel is very close to those of the first game – which is awesome! The artwork is exceptionally beautiful, super colorful and extremely detailed. The characters are funny and their animations are great. The game consists of 40 levels, and therefore, 40 scenes to admire. Each scene is different from each other which is what always keep the game interesting. The background music is lively and not distracting or repetitive.

If you are an experienced gamer, you may find the gameplay in Rush for Gold 2 to be the ‘same old’. All the features are what we have seen before in other games along this line. Still, they are well-implemented and the game is still entertaining as well as addicting. There are two modes in Rush for Gold 2, timed and untimed; it is challenging to get three stars in timed mode while the untimed mode is for those who want to relax a bit. At the end of each level, you can spend stars to clear grounds, build buildings and bring the town to prosper.

Conclusion:
As said in the game discussion section, Rush for Gold California is very similar to its predecessor, however, if you love Time Management games you’ll enjoy playing this one. Personally I find them tedious, uninspiring and to be honest boring and stressful, so rarely play them (an exception is the first few Farm Frenzy games).

Problems getting the game to work:
If you're having problems installing or activating or getting Rush for Gold: California to work please visit the FAQ's Thread HERE and read through the communities comments because sometimes fixes have already been posted, for example, a common issue seen since the Themida wrapper was introduced three years ago is that some community members installation of the game are blocked by their security because Themida code has been known to hide malware, (usually an error message is flagged for example 'The executable is corrupted' even though in reality it is not); so as a precaution some anti malware programs will block and even delete the suspect installation files even though the files (i.e. the setup, read me and setup.gcd files are actually totally free from malware. This issue can be solved either by rebooting your computer in safe mode with networking or a quicker method is to temporarily turn off your security software to allow the installation. You could also try whitelisting the setup.gcd file. In the almost 11 years this game giveaway site has been operating there has 'never' been a game given away that was infected with malware.
If for any reason you want to contact the giveaway team, for example, you have a game to offer the community, or are unable to download the latest game or other issues that the FAQ's thread or these comments don't cover or solve you can do so HERE
