Run Run Monster! is a short retro platformer.

The Game:

Run Run Monster is a short side scrolling platformer with retro looking graphics. Made with the free Construct 2 engine and is another of those cheap £0.79 games that you'll find on Steam and was released by Nekyau Games. There is no main menu or options, and to turn the game off you have to close the window via the X or via the icon in the task bar. See the mainly negative reviews via Steam HERE.

The first level involves you jumping onto 14 platforms in the shape of a staircase with gaps in it. The aim is to collect apples which give you a score of 1 for each apple collected. Each sucessive level is similar with you jumping from one platform to the next. The last platform contains the monster, who doesn't fight back. Once captured you move onto the next similar level. If you fall off level 3 or 4 you cannot complete the level as there is no way to get back onto the platforms. After being forced to reboot the game I found that your progress isn't saved, so on starting I had to start from level 1 again. I kept falling off the same platform on level 4 so after three attempts at repeating level 4 I gave up (level 3 and 4 are the same, so I couldn't figure why I kept falling from the same place on level 4 as the platformer was very easy to negotiate, with a simple click of the jump key then the move right key. Movement keys are:

↑ = Jump
← = Move Left
→ = Move Right

Despite my repeated dismounts from the same platform, there really is no challenge to this game and it becomes boring very quickly. According to most of the reviews posted over on Steam (see link above) the game only has a few levels. You can see a video of game play via the Steam store page HERE

The Steam description says Plunge into the world of puzzles, monsters and adventures!.. I didn't see any in the first four levels, and from my experience of Nekyau games I doubt later levels will be any different apart from a few changes of background environments. I cannot believe Valve allow such games into their Steam Store. The gamer installs to C:\Program Files (x86)\Run Run Monsters by default and is 147MB in size once installed. If you choose not to install the games desktop shortcut, you'll still get the four Falcoware shortcuts installed, but these can safely be deleted.
